Anyone else first month ttc?

Hi guys.

I’m new here, I’m 29 (30 in May) and my boyfriend is the same. We had decided to start ttc in June time 2021 but over Christmas we both decided to ‘roll the dice’ once before and started having unprotected sex this month. I came off the pill in October time as I didn’t get on with it AT ALL.

I use Clue but only had two afs before this cycle so not sure how long my cycle actually is. We dtd most days over when the app said I was most fertile and it aligned with the cm too. I’m dry not (tmi) so I assume I’m passed it now!

With a 30 day cycle I had last month I’m due af on the 22nd but with and 35 day one (which I used to have before the pill I’d be ov around today but cm isn’t having that, well dtd anyway just in case. Then wouldn’t except af until the 27th. I’m willing it not to arrive and have decided to not even contemplate a test until the end of the month if af hasn’t arrived.

Just wondered who else is trying and in the first few months? I can’t help but reading everything I can find about early signs and feel like when we start trying properly in the few months I might go crazy!!

How are you finding it?

Hey 👋 27 + OH is 34 and this is our first month TTC #1 😊

Currently 7DPO and in the TWW... 🙄

It's so tricky but really interesting learning your body and cycles, don't you think? Plus a really exciting time to start trying!

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 16:18

Hey @Annabelle0852! Great to meet you. From Clue and the cm I’m only 3dpo and only just entering tww, it’s not fun already haha. Told myself not to get obsessed but I am. I won’t test early though! When are you due on?

MMG21 · 11/01/2021 16:48

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 16:55

Hi @MMG21 how long ago was your withdrawal? How long did it take you ttc#1?

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 16:58

Hi everyone!

Thought I would join because I would rather not tell friends and family that we are TTC.

I’m 27 (28 in March). We are right the beginning of our TCC journey and already I realise there is so much I didn’t know!

I am CD28 and 9 DPO, so the temptation to test early is real!! I feel maybe it’s too soon, I was thinking about testing maybe 11 days DPO.. do any of the guys test early? Or think you will?

Gosh I think it’s hard not to be obsessive when TTC! haha

MMG21 · 11/01/2021 16:59

@grace185 last time it took 6 months but wasn't trying really just came off the pill wasnt purposely doing it and didn't really DTD that often coz my husband (boyfriend then) worked away all the time. My withdrawal was 22nd Dec. Xx

marcella64 · 11/01/2021 17:02

Hi @Grace185 I'm 30, OH is 28 ( my toy boy) lol. We started trying for number 3 last month, we had planned to start in April but my coil came out in an emergency in September so we said so it! I used opk's with DS2 so I used them again this month to see if my clue app matches my LH peak, a far so good. I'm 2dpo today. I'm always obsessed when ttc... it's hard not to be!

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 17:19

@Dixie1488 I completely get the urge to test early. I’m 3dpo and want to haha. Tbh I’ve made the decision not to until the end of the month (if af doesn’t arrive before) partly because I’m pretty scared of mc (you hear a lot on here) and at least then I’d be like 5/6 weeks. I know that’s risky too but don’t want to get my hopes up!

@MMG21 my cd1 was 23 Dec so you may well have ovulated or are about to!

@marcella64 haha to the toy boy! How long did the other dcs take? This would be my first and I’m getting so broody! I haven’t used the sticks, are they good? We’re at about the same stage. When’s AF due for you?

OP posts:
Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 17:26

@Grace185 oh it’s so hard isn’t it! But I think that’s sensible and I completely understand.

I am constantly on my apps working out the dates, “should I? shouldn’t i?” all the time. It’s only month one, I dread to think what I will be like if it takes a while! Haha.

I’m not sure whether to start ovulation testing next month if we are unsuccessful this cycle. I kind of think I know when I’m about to ovulate due to EWCM (sorry for the TMI!). So not sure if testing is worth it?

Also everyone.. have you all gone for a Doctor check up? Due to the pandemic I wasn’t sure if this is something Doctors will still do?

Thanks! :)

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 17:31

@Dixie1488 yeah I’m the same, completely get how it turns women crazy! I guess January isn’t the best time for ttw as time drags sooooo slowly anyway and now with the lockdown! Man I can’t wait for feb anyway! I didn’t use the tests and don’t know if I can be bothered as it seems stressful. I went by the app and my cm. but sperm doesn’t help with that as it can mix with it (tmi?). How long is your cycle?

I haven’t been to the doctors and wasn’t even thinking about it tbh

OP posts:
Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 17:38

@Grace185 You are spot on! January and lockdown with little to do doesn’t help! Me too :)

Yes that’s my worry... getting super stressed and taking the fun out of things. Just not sure how accurate Flo app is? Now this is TMI.. but for CM I just go by what’s on the toilet paper, I don’t properly check if you know what I mean (gross hey!).

My cycle average is 32 but some random months it will be 37. What about yours?

Okay! :)

marcella64 · 11/01/2021 17:47

@Grace185 I had 3 miscarriages before my DD, she took a year of trying. DS was first time when I used the OPKs. As I'm a bit older (first baby at 20) I've started taking vitamin b to help. I love the apps, the forums and the whole baby making process, how I haven't got 6 kids I have no idea 😂 AF is due 23rd, how about you? I have 80 opks, I bet money I will be using them as pregnancy tests at 11 dpo! X

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 18:34

@Dixie1488 yeah let hope feb comes quickly and we’re both up the duff haha. Here’s to hoping!! Yeah I think the sticks would get too much for me right now, maybe if it doesn’t happen within a few months! My cycle is about 30-35 but only had one cycle since being on the pill for 8 months. Tried two types and I was so moody and sad so we decided I should come off them and just used condone until now.

@marcella64 so sorry to hear about the miscarriages. I have a few friends who had then and it’s horrible. I’m quite scared of them tbh but everyone I know whose had one has gone one to have a lovely baby so that’s good! Mines due on the 22nd I’d I go off my 30 day cycle but it could be the week after so I won’t get my hopes up until after the 27th. Well I’ll try!

I must say, reading these threads when I was in the conversation was stressing me out but talking to you all has been really nice this afternoon. It’s calmed me down as I haven’t told anyone we’re ttc and don’t plan to. Spoken to OH but he’s a man and doesn’t really get it. He knows all the signs and wants it but it’s not the same as speaking to women going through the same thing! Thanks :)

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 18:42

@Grace185 Yes! Let’s keep our fingers crossed :)

Ah right. I was on the pill for 11 years but came off it in November 2019 due to a health issue it caused! My cycles have varied over the last year from 27 days to 33 for ages, then I get random long ones around 37-39 which is annoying and skews the predicted ovulation dates etc. The joys of cycles!

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 18:44

@Grace185 I feel exactly the same! It has been quite difficult just trying to guess and work all of this out without speaking to anyone. This thread is helping so much already :) My partner really doesn’t have a clue bless him!

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 18:54

@Dixie1488 glad it’s helping you too. I had put off joining as I found myself obsessed with reading posts and was getting stressed but it’s nice to chat about it :) and btw I did the toilet roll method, didn’t check right up there but have definitely dried up and past my best this month haha. Do you work from home?

OP posts:
Glenpatrick · 11/01/2021 18:56

Can I join? TTC number 2 since Dec number 1 is 13months old now so hoping so have a close-ish age gap - he took 9 months to conceive, a lot of stress and peeing on sticks 😂😂 hoping I’d feel much more chill this time and in 1 way I am as I now know everything works 😂 but in another not at all haha

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 19:00

Me too but I just thought I have nothing to lose by chatting to others about it!

Ah I’m not the only one then. It is gross but I suppose we need to focus on CM because it tells us so much about what’s going on.

I work from home mostly since the pandemic started but I go out two days per week because I do home visits. I’m a Family Worker (bit like a social worker) so I still have to go out and about. What about you?

penguin7 · 11/01/2021 19:00

Hi all...it's our first month TTC I'm 4DPO, trying to not think about it as I know we would be really really lucky for it to happen the first time but keeping everything crossed!

I started to take Pregnacare Conception in October, myself and my OH are both 36. I also track on the 'Clue' app my cycle is 33 days so my AF is due 21st Jan.

I keep thinking are we mad TTC during a pandemic but then I also think we're not getting any younger and don't want to put it on hold when life carries on regardless.

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 19:01

@Glenpatrick Hi! :) Fingers crossed it works for you quickly this time!

Do you have any tips/ advice from your first TTC journey?

Dixie1488 · 11/01/2021 19:13

@penguin7 Hi 😊 This is also our first try- wouldn’t it be amazing to fall pregnant in the first cycle? Fingers crossed for us all!

I felt like that but then I thought just go for it!

Grace185 · 11/01/2021 19:16

@Glenpatrick welcome! It’s so nice you have a little one and it’ll be lovely then growing up close in age. I think ideally I’d do that as I’m nearly 30 and would like to pop at least two out haha.

@Dixie1488 would this be your first? I’m a fundraiser for a charity so work from home mostly and can pop in if I need to. When do you think you’d test? I think you’re the earliest one on here.

@penguin7 hey! :) I know, imagine, it would be so lucky but I suppose these first few months is where we can have the hope! I’m due around there too but could have a longer cycle so won’t get my hopes up. I know right but why not?!

Yep, month one for us this month, currently CD6 for me. My cycle is usually 33-35 days, I've got clear blue ovulation sticks to start 19th Jan as recommended by their website.

I'm 33, almost 34 so it's about time for us!

MMG21 · 11/01/2021 19:23

It is very possible to get BFP on 1st try or after 1st period. 2 of my friends got a BFP after coming off injection and implant straight away and both been on it 9 years plus. I hope you all get a BFP 1st time. I'm just worried about the mood im going to be in when AF arrives ill be so upset even though I'm expecting it. I've got a little fairy tale in my head that I'll find out same time as a decade ago with my DD 🙈🤣
