Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 5

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

@GlassLily I'm sorry about AF :( It doesn't get easier does it!

@mumof23188 @glasslily so I had my HSG on Friday and they said the tubes are clear (although I swear I could see the whole outline of my left one and nothing on the right!) so at least that's done. I ovulated unexpectedly early yesterday at CD12 instead of my more usual CD16 but luckily I've had my tubes flushed and we DTD on O and O-1 so should be covered. OH now has his SA scheduled for Friday so everything is aligning quite well timing wise this cycle!

Not gonna lie, it's hard to not to get your hopes up after the HSG... I also made the mistake of checking FF charts in line with my age and months TTC and the stats are 40% pregnancy charts instead of the standard 32% so that has made me hopeful too!

RHR really shot up for ovulation btw - it's gone from 65 during my FP to 71 for ovulation yesterday and has jumped to 73 today!

GlassLily · 01/03/2021 10:10

That sounds promising @Juno231! Fx for you. That's a great rise. This could be your cycle!

It's so hard isn't it, it feels good to be hopeful but you also want to manage your expectations. I'm trying to stay more positive recently even if it means more disappointment when it goes wrong. How was the HSG? Painful? Is that the one with an ultrasound or an X ray?

Juno231 · 01/03/2021 10:17

@GlassLily that's the xray one and yes it wasn't pleasant. The most undignified foof procedure too! I only had one big cramp when the dye got injected (the cramp lasted maybe 30 sec in total?) but I genuinely feared that I would poop myself on the table from pain. Passes quickly though and I was absolutely fine afterwards.

Juno231 · 01/03/2021 10:18

@GlassLily are you trying anything new this cycle for the heck of it? I've kind of stopped doing that now as I feel it's all for naught at this stage but I am tempted to at least try and keep my feet warm this LP! I've also bought pineapple for this LP which I haven't done in ages.

mumof23188 · 01/03/2021 12:33

@GlassLily sorry AF arrived 😩

@Juno231 hope it all went ok! When do you find out the official results? Did they say everything looked ok? Crossing everything for you. Super hard not to get your hopes up but remain positive.

I had my scan on Saturday and baby measured at 12 weeks so that was a relief!

GlassLily · 01/03/2021 20:36

@Juno231 oof, well I'm glad the hsg is over and done with! I know what you mean about nearly pooping on the table, I had that feeling with a different foof procedure (shortly before passing out) so I'm living in fear of a future hsg!

In terms of new stuff I'm sort of swearing off that for a while, I feel like maybe it's promoting the idea subconsciously that it's my fault... Like I'm doing (or not doing) something which is the reason I'm not pregnant. So I am just focusing on bd at least every 2 days, taking my supplements and my progesterone.

Actually my new thing for this month is increasing my dose of progesterone in the hope of getting a full LP for a little bean to implant! So fx for that.

But overall I'm trying to just look after myself and accept that it will happen when it happens. (This is all a facade, I'm losing my mind irl of course, but if I talk like a calm person, then maybe I will become one??)

@mumof23188 congratulations, that must be such a huge relief, I can't even begin to imagine!

Moominmiss · 01/03/2021 20:46

@mumof23188 hopefully it won’t be much longer and you’ll be enjoying that huge meal you’re dreaming of!

How did your scan go on the weekend? I had one on Saturday. Was amazing. They dated me a little ahead (10+3 on Saturday), so supposedly 10+5 today. But 10+1 by my own dates so will see.

I’ve not currently got anything booked yet. First time I’ve not had a scan booked in! Lol.
I should get the date through for my 12 week scan this week and then as soon as I get the screening results from that I’ll book the nipt (if I’m high risk my hospital will do the nipt for free, so figured I’d wait).

Have attached a pic of Saturdays scan 🥰

Hi everyone. Can I join? I don't know a huge amount about this. But I monitor pretty much everything. And I have my Apple Watch on everyday which gives me a resting heart rate... so may as well throw this into the mix!

mumof23188 · 01/03/2021 21:37

@GlassLily I’m so sorry you are going through the mil. It is definitely not your fault 💕. Your plan moving forward sounds great, fingers crossed for you that the progesterone helps with your LP lovely. How much are you taking currently?

@Cakelaur welcome ☺️. How are you? Where are you at with your cycle?

mumof23188 · 01/03/2021 21:50

@Moominmiss Hi lovely. How are you? I had a good few days of no sickness, just nausea and had a big fat meal 🤣 but alas tonight the sickness returned!

Awww look at your little baby 😍. I’m so so pleased to hear all is well with baby. Such lovely news. My scan on Saturday was amazing. Baby was measuring at 12 weeks. By my own dates I should of been 11+4 and by my very first scan baby should of been 11+2. So measuring ahead for me too ☺️.

Hope your booking appointment went well? Shouldn’t be to long until your next scan either. Let us know when it is. Mine is on Monday! That’s brilliant news that they do it in your trust. Let’s hope you don’t need it but it’s fantastic it’s available for free. Definitely May as well wait. Just read your message back, will you still go ahead with the nipt of your screening is low risk?

Cakelaur · 01/03/2021 21:56

@mumof23188 I'm hoping to get my bbt shift tomorrow morning. Had positive opks for the last 48hrs! Willing them to go and for temp to rise! DTD waaaay more than I wanted to! 😂😂

BBT vs RHR charts attached.

What apps do you use to combine the two?

And generally what am I looking for? Is there a link to ovulation? Or just pregnancy? Any help or tips would be MASSIVELY appreciated

mumof23188 · 01/03/2021 22:17

@Cakelaur 🤣🤣 love that! Hopefully you get a rise tomorrow 🤞. Will you dtd again tomorrow? How long have you been TTC?

On fertility friend if you pay for the subscription you can add your RHR onto the chart. It’s really interesting to see how much they mirror each other.

It really is so different for everyone, some months my HR would drop a couple of beats for ovulation and others it would rise. Everyone’s seem to be different. Generally for pregnancy you would expect to see a rise in HR especially after implantation. Some get a really high rise and others just a few beats. With the imminent arrival of AF you would expect to see a drop by a good few beats. Some get horrible troll charts which look so promising then the bloody witch arrives 😩. Everyone’s pattern is different but generally that’s the sort of things to look out for. Hope this helps a bit and I’ve not confused you!

Cakelaur · 01/03/2021 23:01

@mumof23188
Thanks so much. That's great info to get me started. I'm just interested to see what happens.
I'm done for this month! 😂😂 I don't wanna see penis for at least a month! 😂😂 were a once a fortnight couple... so we both feel it during FW.
We're on baby number 3. Cycle 5 unofficially, but officially cycle 3.
We have a 2yr old boy and a 10month old boy. Hoping for 3 under 3 and then we're done! 😅

What about you?

I've attached my chart with overlay. Bizarre how similar it is!

mumof23188 · 01/03/2021 23:13

@Cakelaur no worries at all ☺️. 🤣🤣🤣 I feel you on the no penis, I’m off penis for life now myself haha. Looks like you should get your temp rise tomorrow 🤞.

Ah wow that’s great. Lovely to have them so close together. 3 under 3 sounds like carnage but lovely at the same time ☺️. I’m currently pregnant with DC3, I have a 9 year old DD and a 19 month old DS. So I’ve never experienced having two close in age.

Yes it’s crazy isn’t it how similar they are! It’s nice to see them both together.

Fran2020 · 01/03/2021 23:18

@mumof23188 @GlassLily AF arrived for me on Sunday 😭 on to the next cycle! I've been on to the consultant's nhs secretary today to chase up the scan they want to do and the hysteroscopy. Hopefully they can both be soon 🤞🏼

@GlassLily sorry to hear that AF arrived for you too, it really does suck doesn't it 😔

GlassLily · 02/03/2021 00:26

@Fran2020 sorry to hear that 😕 hope you hear back from the dr soon!

@mumof23188 thank you, I've been on 200mg and now going up to 400mg. Getting LP to 12 days already (up from 10) is great progress. Really hopeful for the next couple of months.

@Juno231 what's the logic behind pineapple? I've never heard that one.

Kona84 · 02/03/2021 09:44

I am trying to stay positive and no cramping, no bleeding.
My symptoms are mild with only slight boob soreness, no nausea no food aversions.
7 weeks today and my RHR is lower than before pregnancy.

I have my midwife appointment booked for 12th March

Juno231 · 02/03/2021 10:02

@GlassLily it's actually a symbol of infertility in the IVF community because it's so common to eat it when ttc! The core is meant to contain bromelain which supposedly helps with implantation. I think it's cause it's a blood thinner so in theory probably does the same as taking baby aspirin in the LP?

@Kona84 week 7 is when all the other ladies on here started getting an RHR drop though isn't it! Lots of BFPs here in the past that came back at 7 weeks panicking but it's super normal. If you google it there's lots of other threads on other sites (including reddit) that panic over it but it's all normal :)

OP posts:
Alicespring · 02/03/2021 10:06

@Kona84 @Juno231

Yes I was one of them that had a massive drop at 6/7 weeks, I was basically back down to pre pregnancy rates! Climbed maybe about week 10/11 and then its dropped again this week so I've taken my fit bit off again as I'm stressing myself out over nothing 🤣

Kona84 · 02/03/2021 10:23

I guess I just didn’t expect it to steadily decline since week 5. I know that it does seem to drop back down for some but after 7 weeks.
I tried to take it off and had it on charge for about half a day then I crumbled and put it back on

Kona84 · 02/03/2021 10:24

I think it’s not helping that work is quite stressful and I’m approaching 8 weeks which is when I lost my last pregnancy.

Alicespring · 02/03/2021 10:43

@Kona84
I know where your coming from, very hard to relax after previous losses, I was the same.
I got my partner to take my charger so that when it ran out that was it and there was no temptation. Hopefully your mind will be eased a bit at the 12 week scan. Sorry if its already been mentioned (hard to keep up with this thread sometimes!) But would you/have you already had an early scan?

mumof23188 · 02/03/2021 10:46

@Fran2020 so sorry AF arrived. Hope you are doing ok and hopefully you hear back from the consultant ASAP.

@GlassLily that’s brilliant that you gained an extra two days ☺️ Fab news!

@Kona84 try not to worry about HR. It does drop off. Mine has been as low as 62 and it’s only now that it’s got a bit higher. Here’s mine!

Kona84 · 02/03/2021 10:48

I discussed paying for an early scan with my partner but he just wants to take it a day at a time.
I’m going to speak with midwife and hopefully she’ll offer one to ease anxiety

noname55 · 02/03/2021 10:51

Hi! Can I join? I didn't know there was a thread for this. Been trying for 3 cycles but only noticed my RHR rising this time. Not entirely sure what I'm looking for but keeping an eye on it. 7dpo and it dropped yesterday but back up again.
