Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 5

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

@Moominmiss I'll attach mine since my BFP to show you. Mines literally been all over the place but I've been stuck at home since Christmas. The day where it was the lowest is the day before my scan and then the day after it shot up and everything was fine with baby

@mumof23188 perks of having to wfh for now🤣 I only have to do a couple of hours a day so do housework in the morning then have to sit down to recover and then end up doing a bit of work then watching Netflix and falling asleep🤣 I'm glad DS is 5 so is quite content watching tv for a bit 😳 (bad mum I know) although he goes to my mums in the days sometimes to do school work. Umm it's much better than before but I find I can have a good couple of days then a bad one again. Me too!🙊

@Moominmiss Mine kept increasing with little drops every few days. So I wouldn’t worry about minor drops. 😇

So I‘m CD2 finally. I ended up spotting for 6 days mid cycle, had one day of nothing. Then spotting again for a day and finally my period started. So very strange!
My RHR isn’t giving away anything either.

Someone posted in here recently with the same concern that her HR had dropped dramatically and she was worried.
Just recovered from Covid.
But she has had a scan and baby is fine.
If you have to keep the watch on could you remove the HR tile from the app that way you have to dig to view it?

SS123456 · 21/01/2021 10:08

@Kona84 that was me! 😁

My rhr dropped from 84bpm to 60bpm within 10 days around 5-6 weeks and has stayed there ever since. I had a scan at 7+5 and all was fine and baby had a good heart beat. I am due another scan in a weeks time when I'll be 10 weeks so I'll keep you all posted but I have no signs at the moment that anything is wrong 🤞🏻

Juno231 · 21/01/2021 10:12

@Moominmiss from what I gather it starts dropping from week 7ish? Basically there's a shift towards the placenta or something and your body adapts to the additional blood flow so it regulates itself. But most importantly - if you go into your settings you can turn the heart rate monitor off and still keep your fitbit on xxx

@IndigoJam looks a bit like AF is lurking around the corner. When did you ovulate, was it the really obvious dip in the middle of that chart pretty much?

@Juno231 was using cb ov sticks and got peak on the 6th Jan. I've had no symptoms of my period or anything else. Pretty sure my body is playing tricks on me.

@lucyrp definitely make the most of it ☺️. I just have no time to chill atm with OH working away, homeschooling my DD and my little DS running riot haha. Not a bad mum at all, it’s always great when they get older and are capable of entertaining themselves!

I just can’t shake the feeling that it’s not going to end well for me! My HR is shit!! Having a wobble today. Just keep expecting to find blood when I’ve been to the loo.

Moominmiss · 21/01/2021 11:08

Thank you all for sharing your rhr post bfp stories and charts! I feel a little more relaxed. With mine being at 79 currently I’m aware it can’t just keep climbing so know it has to drop at some point, just want to be prepared!

@Juno231 I totally did not know that! This is what I’m going to do!! I don’t want to not wear it but absolutely don’t want it to be easy for me to find it. Or just see it when I look at it on my wrist.

lucyrp · 21/01/2021 11:16

@mumof23188 oh god I don't know what I'd do without my OH coming home in the evenings that's what keeps my days so short- that and that I go to bed when DS goes 🤣 he's nearly 6 so you can stick a film on and that's him for a couple of hours! I thought I was a goner from week 7-8 as it just kept going down but when I went for my scan everything was fine so think that calmed me down!

mumof23188 · 21/01/2021 12:32

@lucyrp I really miss him! So lonely because of lockdown. It’s rubbish! Haha yes, love an early night. Definitely, my DD is 8 and she’s always off playing games and watching YouTube. Yes I’m thinking of bringing my scan forward? I’m 7 weeks next Tuesday so maybe then? I feel like I just want to know now!

mumof23188 · 21/01/2021 12:33

@LarasMama that is so strange!! Glad AF has finally started properly. Fingers crossed this cycle is back to normal for you 🤞

LarasMama · 21/01/2021 12:58

@mumof23188 Thanks dear! 🙏🏻 I hope you will be able to remain hopeful! I really believe that baby bean wants to stuck around! 🥰

LarasMama · 21/01/2021 12:59

Stick around I mean, not sure what my phone is doing sometimes 😂

mumof23188 · 21/01/2021 13:27

@LarasMama thank you! I hope you are right ☺️. Xx

Kona84 · 21/01/2021 13:40

I ordered the Femometer ovulation pack and it arrived today.
I’m on cd10 and my HR has started climbing so I’m gonna start testing today.
Got a date night planned for Saturday evening so fingers crossed

NW2021 · 21/01/2021 14:02

Hi ladies, hope you don’t mind me dropping in! I’m just wondering if someone can give me a quick run down of how to monitor RHR & what it should be throughout the cycle? I’m currently in my 2ww, waiting for my AF to arrive. Wear a Fitbit every day. Seen a slight rise in my RHR the past 2 days. Thanks x

Kona84 · 21/01/2021 14:56

@NW2021 there are no rules to what it should be as everyone has different resting heart rates it’s just looking for that pattern.
What I find is that my HR drops when AF arrives and stays quite low for first week of cycle. Then it’ll start rising towards ovulation I have found that it stays elevated until day of peak LH test or day after and then falls a little. Then I see a bit of a rise through the 2 week wait. Some see a dip around 10dpo and then it’ll start rising. When it rises and stays high or keeps climbing that could indicate pregnancy.

I was pregnant last January and I could clearly see my ovulation day, and my HR just started climbing after 10dpo and I got my BFP. Unfortunately it started dropping for me a couple of weeks later and I had miscarried

Spottybluepyjamas · 21/01/2021 15:06

Hi all, complete newbie to this theory (and sorry if this has been asked before). I wasn't tracking my rhr but I have a free app on my phone and happened to do it about a week after conception - it showed my hr had shot up, so I googled what it could be, took a pregnancy test and it was positive!

My question is - is there any theory about what happens to rhr in the weeks afterwards? For example at 6/7 weeks should it stay high, or come down? Thanks in advance for any insight (or guesses!)

@Kona84 Thank you so much! Very helpful Smile

NW2021 · 21/01/2021 15:41

@Kona84 brilliant thank you! I’ll keep an eye on mine more now.

Juno231 · 21/01/2021 15:45

@Spottybluepyjamas scroll up and I explain the same thing - exactly about around the 7 week mark :)

@NW2021 exactly what @Kona84 said - what i often found though is that if you're physically fit and have a low rhr to start with there seems to be less variation throughout the cycle? For mine it drops for AF, plummets in the follicular phase and is high throughout the LP until it shows me AF id due again. I often don't have anything distinguishing ovulation day itself though, I can just tell that there's a difference between FP /LP RHR.

@LarasMama I missed your post earlier! What a strange cycle and your RHR seems to have completely flat lined 😅.

I'm on CD5 but have had an odd period this time. Light on CD1, spotting on CD2, nothing on CD3 and cramps /medium flow CD4 and still bleeding today! Considering most of my periods last year were 2-3 days max it's certainly different!

@Juno231 thank you! I think I might need to track it more closely because it makes no sense this month compared to the previous 😂🙈 it does look like mine goes up when af due but can’t tell much difference around ovulation at the moment

@Juno231 so I think you were right - a completely odd cycle with really low RHR in LP. AF arrived 2 days early in the end and is longer than normal. Hopefully new cycle won't be as bananas and reset too - I've taken the HR monitor off for a few days Hmmnew cycle new opportunities hopefully 🤞🏻 x
