Tracking your cycle and possible BFP using RHR - part 5

Hi ladies,

This is for all of us with heart rate monitors who wish to help each other analyse the RHR patterns throughout our cycles.

Early research shows there's a correlation with increasing RHR and BFPs - so let's try and spot some together!

@mumof23188 so exciting having a scan booked!

@Juno231 are you coping ok? Every time AF comes these days I'm in absolute bits. Feel like I've had a personality transplant 😩 I feel like such a debbie downer.

I am CD 21 and RHR is unusually low. Missed ov this month with OPKs but got one that was quite close on Thursday, so reckon it was either Thursday or Saturday. Had wine on Friday so chart is all over the place - equally the huge spike at the beginning is actually AF (usually 58-60ish, but I was drinking alcohol). Hope I haven't wasted this cycle by drinking alcohol around ovulation. There I go again - debbie downer!

@GlassLily thank you ☺️

How long is your cycle usually? You aren’t a Debbie downer at all. TTC is so tough emotionally, it really can affect you in every way. The second guessing everything is painful! Don’t worry about wether you drank alcohol around ov. It won’t affect anything. Good luck lovely xx

Moominmiss · 19/01/2021 16:38

@mumof23188 I’m good thank you, 4+1 by lmp or 4+2 by ovulation date so 16dpo.

I have probably tempted fate by booking a test but went ahead and did it because there was only 2 time slots left on the date I wanted so it’s booked for when I’ll either be 7+5 or 7+6 on 13th Feb.

Feels like ages away though. Not too long to wait until your scan!!! How are you feeling?

When did you get your 3+ on clearblue? I got my 2-3 at 12dpo and don’t know how long to leave it before testing again to hopefully see the 3+. Don’t want to do it too early and be disappointed with another 2-3 lol.

mumof23188 · 19/01/2021 16:49

@Moominmiss glad to hear you are well. Ahh fab ☺️. I’m going by ovulation date so I’m 6 weeks today.

I’m glad you’ve got your scan booked. I think 7+5 is a good time to go. Is your OH going with you? I’m having to go alone because my OH will have to look after the kids. Anxious for it! Time drags early days days doesn’t it! I feel awful to be honest, exhausted and so nauseous. How are you feeling?

I went to buy the digitals at 13dpo and got my 2-3 then and I think I tested again at 20dpo and got my 3+.

Juno231 · 19/01/2021 17:00

@GlassLily Hi! Another TWW hey? I'm okay - I didn't cry this time! I just feel resigned I guess? But also I think maybe a little hopeful as I'm at the stage where either I get medical help (the assessment is in 2 weeks) or am I genuinely another cycle closer to my BFP. We've had a few in one of the buses recently where the ladies got their BFPs in cycles 15 and 16 so fingers crossed that can be me too you know? At least I'm choosing to focus on that atm, even though I know I could easily still be here in 2 years time lol.

@Moominmiss @mumof23188 glad you're both doing well and got scans booked in! Will either of you be finding out the gender or staying team green this pregnancy?

OP posts:
Moominmiss · 19/01/2021 17:37

@mumof23188 yeah it makes sense to go by ovulation date if you’re certain of it. That’s what I’m going by really. Finding out last Monday though at only 8dpo has meant this is really dragging! Even getting to 6 weeks feels like a lifetime away!

Yeah I figured knowing when I ovulated and when I got my first bfp that if I booked a scan for just under 8 weeks and it dated me massively behind or something then I’d know there was an issue. Hopefully will see a perfect heartbeat 🤞🏻 My oh will be coming with me. I’ve booked it for a weekend when my kids will be at their dads so it works well. He’s nervous because his only scan experience so far was at the EPU when we’ve had bad news.

I’ve had the nausea since my bfp, it’s worse in the evenings. By the time I get home from work I just have a nap and then struggle to eat any tea because I feel so sick.

Right, so I will wait at least until the end of the weekend to do my digital, I’ll be 21dpo on Sunday so might even wait til next week. Just so worried I won’t get that 3+.

@Juno231 thank you! I will be finding out the gender if I can. Both me and oh want to know. I was always rubbish with waiting, I found out with my other 3. Plus I think knowing if we’re having a boy or girl will help connect my oh to it all a bit. Well at least that what he thinks lol.

When is it you have your fertility appointment? Is it next month?

Juno231 · 19/01/2021 17:40

@Moominmiss yeah that's the thing, I'd be quite happy not knowing but it is meant to make it that bit more "real" for the OHs as the baby is otherwise quite an abstract concept until it arrives.

My appointment should be on the 3rd but I don't know if it's still going ahead - kinda expecting it to be cancelled due to covid as so many others have been. Fingers crossed though!

Fuming hahah just wrote the world biggest reply and clicked off it by mistake 😩😩😩 damn it!

Moominmiss · 19/01/2021 21:15

@Juno231 exactly, I figure as the woman I get to experience the actual feelings of pregnancy, the kicks etc, the least I could do is let my oh know the gender so he can feel more connected, think of the baby as his son or daughter.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for your appointment! Is it at a clinic or local hospital? Do you know whether they are running fertility appointments at all?
Only a couple of weeks hopefully 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

mumof23188 · 19/01/2021 21:16

@Juno231 definitely remain hopeful lovely. How does your OH feel about it all? Hope you are holding up ok. I’d love to have a surprise this time as it’s my last baby but I’m not 100 percent decided yet. OH wants to find out but he said he’s happy to have surprise if that’s what I want. I’m sure my DD will want to find out too.

@Moominmiss yes definitely, with my DS I was bang on all the way through and I even went into labour on my due date. Everyday feels like a year and with it being January and lockdown we’ve got no chance of time wizzing by!

Fingers crossed for lovely strong heartbeats for us both 🤞. That’s great that your OH can go with you, private scans are such a different experience. Well worth the money IMO.

Gosh me too, I feel so sick constantly but it disappears for all of 5 minutes when I’ve eaten 🤣. The trouble is I don’t want anything remotely healthy. Have you been sick or just feel sick?

I think you will be fine and definitely be seeing the 3+ ☺️. Yes I think a week after getting a 2-3 should be about right? I was shocked at how high the HCG level is to get a 3+. I don’t know if it’s an exact science though.

lucyrp · 20/01/2021 07:30

Morning girls, sorry I haven't been commenting much but in all honesty I'm so exhausted I'm barely on my phone only to reply to messages.
Hope everyone's getting on okay 🥰 @Moominmiss @mumof23188 I had a private scan at What I thought was bang on 8 weeks and the lady said that she dated me the same but looked at the gestation on the scan after and she's put me at 8+2 but I'm still going by my dates as I know when I ovulated. ☺️ 8 weeks was a really good time to go for a scan as I managed to see their head, little arm buds and a heart beating away🥰 OH has always said he wants to find gender out because he wants to do it differently to what I did with DS as he's not his dad but after watching a few one born every minutes I think he might now be team yellow! Although I resigned myself to the fact well probably have a boy so a girl would be w nice surprise! Il definitely be posting on some nub theory groups after my 12 week scan though 🙈

SS123456 · 20/01/2021 07:46

That's great news, congratulations @lucyrp 😁. I have a 10 week scan next week at the fertility clinic and then my nhs 12 week one on the 12th Feb. I don't think my OH is allowed to the NHS one though 😔

lucyrp · 20/01/2021 08:02

@SS123456 I'm 9+4 today and should be receiving my 12 week scan appointment in the post this week, I'm hoping OH can come in with me but waiting on the letter to see what it says whether he can or not. My NHS one should be around 5th or sooner but still haven't had the letter 😂

Juno231 · 20/01/2021 09:22

@mumof23188 It's with the local hospital. I haven't got a clue if they're still doing appointments tbh. On MN some people are having theirs cancelled entirely, others are still going in for their appointments as there's nothing going on and others again are having them over the phone instead. I tried calling to see what's gonna happen but no one picked up so... As for OH, you wouldn't even know we're TTC. He hasn't said a peep about it all year and has no idea if another cycle has failed or not etc. Tbh he's been p*ss poor support and I think I would have gone nuts had I not had MN to turn to.

SS123456 · 20/01/2021 09:34

@lucyrp I had my booking appointment yesterday and the midwife said she'd pull up the date on the computer for me ahead of the letter which was good of her. Was the scan you just had transabdominal? My 10 week one is going to be vaginal so I'm hoping it will be really clear that way 🤞🏻

lucyrp · 20/01/2021 09:37

@SS123456 oh I had my booking appointment 2 weeks ago but they don't sort the scan until after the booking appointment here! I was expecting it before now but the midwife rang Monday and asked a couple more questions and asked me to remind her where I wanted the scan booked in and I was like oh that's why I haven't had the letter because you haven't sorted it yet🙄🤣 but she said I should have it this week! Mine was abdominal and really clear if it was going to be internal I was going to cancel as I read loads of stuff about causing MC and I didn't like the idea of shoving it up there. I'll attach a pic of mine now!

GlassLily · 20/01/2021 11:02

@Juno231 sorry your OH is not really supporting you, that must be really hard. Sometimes it just seems like they don't understand how important it is whatsoever, and have no idea about the awful rollercoaster we are on. It can feel very lonely! Reach out if & when you are feeling down. It's great having MN to talk about it with people who are equally mad about the whole thing!! 😁

SS123456 · 20/01/2021 11:27

@lucyrp oh how frustrating! I had an internal scan at 4 weeks and it was fine, it's not particularly intrusive at all so if you ever need one I'm sure it would be ok 😊

lucyrp · 20/01/2021 11:28

@SS123456 could you see anything at 4 weeks ?? Okays ☺️

SS123456 · 20/01/2021 12:47

@lucyrp a 3mm gestational sack but if you blinked you would have missed it 😂

mumof23188 · 21/01/2021 07:47

@lucyrp I’m with you on the exhaustion! How are you feeling now? Ahh so sweet, it’s amazing seeing them isn’t it. I had a scan with my DS at 7+5 and he was like a little peanut with a fluttering heartbeat. Yes I think going by ovulation, if you know for sure, is more accurate. That will be lovely to have a surprise 🥰.

@Juno231 how many weeks is it until your appointment? Surely if they were going to cancel they will let you know ASAP. I’m praying that it goes ahead for you. Annoying that nobody answered your call!! Ohh I’m sorry to hear your OH hasn’t been supportive 😩, that’s just shit. They just don’t understand what we go through. What does he think about the fertility appointment? I totally agree, MN is great for support and to talk to others going through similar.

lucyrp · 21/01/2021 07:50

@mumof23188 I'm still so tired I get to about 3/4 o clock in the day and I have to have a nap for about an hour otherwise I can't function for the rest of the day, I think I have low blood pressure too as when I get up or turn too quickly I get a black out or like fuzzy eyes 🙈😅 waiting on my 12 week scan and will see what they say at that!🥰 I'm desperate for a girl but we will see 😅😅

IndigoJam · 21/01/2021 08:03

Hey girls, I'm currently 14dpo, period was due 2 days ago but nothing. My rhr dipped on Sunday and hasn't changed since. I tried a frer on the day my period was due but it was very negative. I've never been late before so its very confusing. Attached me rhr screenshot

Moominmiss · 21/01/2021 09:13

So I’m 18dpo today and since my bfp my rhr has stayed nice and high and still rising.

I don’t really want to stop wearing my Fitbit purely because it’s actually my only watch and I’d feel totally naked without it, but of course while I am still wearing it even if I try not to I know I’ll keep checking rhr.

So I just wanted to ask those of you who kept wearing them after a bfp, does your rhr stay high ALL the time? Is there a point when rhr starts to drop and it not necessarily be a bad sign?

I’m dreading it dropping and me freaking out thinking the worst. With my last mc it dropped off a cliff and I knew, but I don’t know what sort of drop is ok?

mumof23188 · 21/01/2021 09:36

@lucyrp a nap sounds bliss, very jealous 🤣. How’s the nausea? I feel so sick 😷. Oh no, that’s not nice!! Looking forward to having a guess on your scan pic ☺️.

@Moominmiss from what I’ve seen it does start to level off. Think when the placenta kicks in? I tried not wearing mine but felt lost without it. The highest mine reached was 67! Now it’s 63! In the back of my mind I’m worried but unless something tells me otherwise I’m still pregnant. 6+2 today!
