TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

@LS2020 sorry to hear that - hope you’ve got nice plans to spoil yourself a bit today. I may have missed this chat before, but had you started any investigations etc once you hit the year mark? Hopefully taking a month or two off gives you a bit of a mental reset ♥️

Mishmased · 15/11/2020 09:56

@LS2020 I'm sorry to hear that ❤️❤️

LS2020 · 15/11/2020 11:42

@Amy259 yes planning a spa day at home! I thought I’d be a bit more upset but I got a job promotion that I never thought I’d get last week so a bit similar to yourself, it would have ended up being worst timing for me to then announce I was 3 months pregnant when starting. It’s a secondment so keen to do well in it!
Yes we have our first call with a fertility doctor on the 23rd for a consultation. I’m not sure what to do about it as I want the break but don’t want to lose our place on list/ I think it can take 12 months to get round being referred for IVF and stuff anyway?

Thanks @Mishmased ❤️

Mishmased · 15/11/2020 12:02

@LS2020 congrats on the promotion. Sometimes these things happen for a reason.
See what happens at your consultation before deciding on anything. I hope you enjoy your spa day at home and spoil yourself.x

Amy259 · 15/11/2020 12:14

@LS2020 ahh lovely! A wee home spa day will be delightful I’m sure.
Yeah I have heard it can take a fair while, waiting to be seen for your initial tests etc. I have friends who were referred after a year of trying and it was a good 6 months or so of tests and chats before they were due to have their ivf consult (which got delayed because of Covid back in March and she then fell pregnant naturally in lockdown and is due in Jan, so a lovely ending for them!). So maybe just don’t mention the break to the doctor, as it could be new year before any tests are in full swing? He/she won’t know if you take a month off next month anyway x

Amy259 · 15/11/2020 12:14

And yes congrats on the promotion! That’s great news!

Boc86 · 16/11/2020 05:25

Ahh sorry @LS2020
Congratulations on your promotion how fantastic

All good here ladies 14dpo/4 weeks pg today
Every day that I don’t start wiping the old brown blood like at the start of every period I just jump for joy 😭🥳

Mishmased · 16/11/2020 07:29

@Boc86 ❤️❤️

LS2020 · 16/11/2020 08:56

@Mishmased @Amy259 thanks both, yeah I think will take ages to get anywhere. I was supposed to have my call last week and they forgot to ring so hopefully this one will go ahead 😂

@Boc86 so glad to hear all is well, keep resting and try stay as positive as possible ❤️

Amy259 · 16/11/2020 09:33

@Boc86 that’s brilliant news! How’s your OH doing - assuming he knows now?? Any of the fam know yet?

@LS2020 god that’s annoying that they forgot to phone.. and how far away the next time they could call is! Fingers crossed they’re quite pro-active and make a plan for you that starts fairly quickly.

Boc86 · 16/11/2020 11:21

Yeah he’s really happy :)
My mum knows and my best friend x

Overlyanxious · 17/11/2020 08:31

Did any of have different periods after you miscarriage? Mine have got heavier and more painful since and it’s been 3 months now.

Amy259 · 17/11/2020 08:53

@Overlyanxious I had an early chemical pregnancy, so wasn’t quite 5 weeks when I bled and that bleed was heavier and longer but the one the month after was pretty much a normal period

Boo2020 · 17/11/2020 09:17

@Overlyanxious i had a really light period the cycle after my miscarriage, I miscarried at 10 weeks, im now on CD51 😔...im in the 2ww x

Amy259 · 17/11/2020 17:35

@Mishmased how did your scan go today? X

Mishmased · 17/11/2020 21:37

@Amy259 how're you? Scan went well. Appt was late in the evening so scan was at 5. Turns out my booking appointment for next week has been changed to a phone appointment so I had to get bloods, blood pressure, urine etc done today.

Mishmased · 17/11/2020 21:41

@Amy259 posted too soon. So far everything looks good, hematoma is gone thanks god. Couldn't get good scan pics as baby was busy flipping around but she did try her best.

How're you keeping? Background checks still ongoing? That's taking ages now 🙄

@Boc86 how're you feeling?

@LS2020 hope you're doing well.x

Amy259 · 17/11/2020 21:48

@Mishmased ahh that’s amazing!! So happy you got good news and look at that little bean 🥰🥰

I’m good thank you - although this tww is dragging more than any other for some reason. Maybe because I didn’t confirm ov so I’m just guessing at days so I’m thinking about it more? Not sure, but I don’t like it 😂
Yep, still waiting for my Disclosure check to clear. Then I imagine there will be a 4 week or so wait for a start date! It’s mad...

Mishmased · 17/11/2020 21:52

@Amy259 I must have missed the post somewhere; is this a 'let's see what happens month? How many dpo are you?
Thanks so much for the good wishes.x

Amy259 · 17/11/2020 22:02

@Mishmased we decided just to let things play out, because this job thing is taking ages and I didn’t know maternity allowance existed (which I’ll qualify for) which would be absolutely fine for us if we had to manage on it. No tracking or planned dtd, but no preventing.

I sort of knew when I’d ov though from the last 4 months of tracking, so I warned DH I thought I’d ov on Wed so if we wanted to skip a month we shouldnt dtd last week... but we happened to be away tues-thurs and of course this was the one month he was actually really up for it so we bd loads 😂 but I still don’t actually know for sure it was the right or wrong timings.
I’m guessing I’m 6dpo today, but purely a guess x

Mishmased · 17/11/2020 22:15

@Amy259 fingers crossed for you guys. Hoping for good news this time round
❤️❤️❤️ I'm going to start my own countdown if that's ok 😊

Amy259 · 17/11/2020 22:18

@Mishmased of course! What’s next for you? Have you got a confirmed due date yet?

Mishmased · 17/11/2020 22:40

@Amy259 great date noted 😁
My date, according to my last period baby is due June 1st. The hospital have consistently put me three days ahead according to their measurements so I got given due date of May 29. All going well baby will be born on that day by elective c-section as I've already had two emergency sections. I have my booking appointment with the midwife over the phone on Wednesday.

Boc86 · 20/11/2020 09:28

I’m having an ectopic 😔😔😔😔😔
So devastated and totally unexpected
2 chemicals and an ectoptic now 😔😔

Amy259 · 20/11/2020 09:54

Oh @Boc86 I’m so sorry! Sending lots of love ♥️ How are you physically? Not in too much pain or too unwell I hope? Xx
