TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

@Boc86 I’m pretty sure you ov 12-48 hrs after the surge, rather than a second or third day of positives. As in, whether or not your opk stays positive for just a day or 3/4 days doesn’t affect when you ovulate. Women who have long LH surges can still get positive opk tests even after the ovulate, because it’s the first surge that triggers ov not the days to follow. According to my gynaecologist anyway, but could be wrong!!

LS2020 · 01/11/2020 16:21

@Boc86 well I am clearly useless as just assumed that once the surge hit that was it 😂 tho Tbf I normally use CB and once they go static you can put any pee on them and they won’t show a different result.

@Amy259 yeah so when I spoke to OH he said it was all the pressure so we just spoke about what would make him feel better and when he said that he felt it was his body letting us down (by performance issues) and I was shocked as I didn’t think he’d feel like that at all (mostly because that’s how I was feeling) it let us come up with a plan that worked for both of us.
Yeah my OH likes it, it’s like a holiday week for him and he knows he can ask as much as he wants but then he doesn’t have to perform at a certain time if he isn’t in the mood. It sounds like your OH is v keen on a baby so I hope you have a good discussion about x

Taken another OPK and negative - about half the colour of the control line so hopefully means I have ovulated 🤞🏻

Boc86 · 01/11/2020 22:01

Ahh really @Amy259 I’ve honestly no idea I’m just winging it all! I’m always so worried about his sperm not lasting long or my egg taking the longer of the average times to come down so I try to cover all bases and bd till the day after my test is negative
Well I have been bd on ov day but not afterwards but from this cycle I want to try and do it the day after ov too in case my egg does take a while to come down and his sperm has lasted the shorter amount of the average times
As you can see I’m an over thinker haha

LS2020 · 03/11/2020 06:43

Well i think I am officially in my TWW and 2dpo today 🤞🏻 Wanted to DTD one last time yesterday but had my smear and swabs in the morning and felt fine in day at work but when I got home I was in so much pain and had a bit of blood so weird! Hope it’s not totally messed my chances this month 😫

Mishmased · 03/11/2020 22:26

@LS2020 I'll join you in the countdown. It is two weeks to my dating scan so we'll countdown together if that's ok 😁
Best of luck ❤️❤️❤️

Boc86 · 04/11/2020 06:27

2dpo here
Also wanted to bd last night at 1dpo but was just too tired and too sore from 3 days in a row of it!

LS2020 · 04/11/2020 09:26

@Mishmased @Boc86 hopefully we’re all getting good news at the same time 🤞🏻
Though im still recovering from smear after effects so hoping that doesn’t stop anything this month from happening 😔

YukoandHiro · 04/11/2020 09:31

I went through this when I first TTC in 2016. First positive and first loss all within a week - we were on holiday in Croatia and it was really painful, and it took a while for the morning sickness to subside too.

I had a month off ttc to give my body a break, but then started again after I'd had one true period. I fell pregnant straight away and carried that pregnancy successfully (she's now a nutty little 3 year old). We'd been trying to conceive for 9 months before that loss but the dr told me that it's really normal for an early loss to kickstart your fertility.

Hope it's your time soon!
X

Amy259 · 04/11/2020 10:15

@YukoandHiro thank you for sharing your positive outcome, always lovely to hear someone on the other side!

@LS2020 sorry to hear your smear gave you a bit of trouble afterwards, that happened to me at my last smear too. Exciting that you and @Boc86 have the same tww though - fingers crossed for you both this month 🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Mishmased so exciting your scan is only two weeks away! A very different tww this time!!

I’ve still got no job start date. I had a look into civil service recruitment and the general consensus is that it can take 4-6 months so I’m about half way through it, around 3 months into it all. We had a chat yesterday and decided that we’re only going to hold off until I’m officially contracted so I would get stat pay, rather than wait a further 4 months after that to qualify for the full mat policy. Statutory is still a lot better than nothing and it could take months ttc anyway so we’re just going to go for it. So hopefully I only have to miss my chances this month and next!

Iloveoreos · 04/11/2020 11:38

Hi ladies. Can i join. I had an early loss. Positive test and loss all within a week and it was ttc our 1st too so quite a shock. Been about 10 days now and bleeding stopped. Did you ladies get a normal period 1st month after this

YukoandHiro · 04/11/2020 13:27

Yes I did @Iloveoreos - although I think from memory it was slightly lighter than my usual period.

Amy259 · 04/11/2020 14:51

Hi @Iloveoreos, welcome. Sorry to hear you’re going through that - it’s such a shock.

My chemical was in September and I bled for about 8 days then ovulated the following month as expected but bfn, then my period was 3 days late. So my cycle was a little messed up but I did then have a normal period. Hope that helps!

Iloveoreos · 04/11/2020 15:07

Thanks @amy259
Have u had a bfp since then?

Amy259 · 04/11/2020 15:16

@Iloveoreos so I had my cp/bleed at the end of September, ovulated mid-October two weeks after the loss but didn’t fall pregnant. So then af came two weeks ago, so I’m now on CD13 of the first cycle after a real period after the cp. Does that make sense? 😂 so no, no bfp yet! And I’m taking the next couple of months off so I won’t get one any time soon, but there are others in here who are now pregnant!

I read a lot about skipping the ovulation immediately following the loss to let yourself have a full cycle, there’s less chance of it happening again apparently. But we ttc anyway and it didn’t work - it’s apparently common not to catch because your uterus hasn’t fully recovered. The following cycle seems much more common to fall pregnant. But this is all just reading online, I’m sure there are plenty who get their bfp immediately after!

Blughbablugh · 04/11/2020 16:09

@Iloveoreos sorry for your loss. I have graduated from here but still lurk a bit. I had an early miscarriage at 5 weeks in early September. The bleeding lasted about 2 weeks altogether. About 4 weeks after it stopped I had my period which to be honest was just like normal. Decided to try again and got my bfp about 12 days ago and currently 5 +2. Good luck with it all!

123feraverto · 04/11/2020 16:19

@Iloveoreos
I had my first MC in July , was pregnant again first cycle after that but MC again end of august , we carried on trying and I'm now 9 weeks
So I've not had a real period at all since June - whether that's a good way to do it I don't know.

I'm just hopeful this time it works out as I've got further than the previous two pregnancies

I do have a 2.5 year old already

Iloveoreos · 04/11/2020 16:20

Thanks @amy259 and @blughbablugh

I was told by my gp to wait for a normal period cycle after the cp cycle and then ttc. So i still have some waiting to do as im just on cd10 following the cp.

Anyone here who had a Chemical /early loss and had hypothyroid?

Wishing u all the luck and hope all goes well hun xx

Mishmased · 05/11/2020 02:03

@Iloveoreos sorry to see you here. I had a mc in July at 6 weeks. Bled for 6 days heavier than a period and it stopped. I took a test on day 7 and it was negative. My period started 30 days later in Aug and I got pregnant in September. Currently 10 weeks.

@Blughbablugh congrats❤️❤️

Mishmased · 05/11/2020 02:09

@Amy259 that's unreal about the job. That is a bloody long wait!
@Boc86 sounds like a marathon session 😁 we'll countdown together!
@LS2020 sorry about the smear, Hope the pain eases soon and 🤞we get good news. I said 'we' I'm so vested in this I'll have to be an honorary aunt from a distance 🤣🤣

Just in case you're wondering, I'm at work 😊

Iloveoreos · 05/11/2020 09:59

@mishmased thanks hun xx wishing u all luck and hope all goes well for u

Iloveoreos · 05/11/2020 10:00

Anyone here who had chemical or early mc and had hypothyroidism. Were u reffered to endocrinologist after that?

Amy259 · 05/11/2020 10:11

@Mishmased I know, so long. I need to hurry up and ovulate this month so I can miss it out - so so many stories (yours included!!) of people getting their bfp the next cycle after a normal period after a cp.. that would be next week for me and the temptation to try is so high 🙈 keeping my sensible head on though!
I know what you mean, it’s nice to follow along with others’ experiences over the cycles rather than finding new threads each month.

Boc86 · 06/11/2020 05:57

Lovely positive story @YukoandHiro congratulations
