TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Hi girls, how's your week going? Finished work this morning and back on Sunday. So tired and a bit sad as we're goin into lockdown at midnight (in Ireland). I'm sure it'll be fine😭😭

Hi @Mishmased, hope you’ve got lots of plans to rest up for a couple of days. Ahh we’re in lockdown too (central belt Scotland), it’s just been extended another week then on the 3rd Nov we’re going to a 5 tier system.
Not much to report here - still no af, still no bfp on the strips I have. Torn between picking up a FRER tomorrow or saving the £8 and just waiting it out...

Gi@Amy259 I went straight to bed afterwards and woke up thirsty. Yeah we're level 5 lockdown for 6 weeks until Dec 1st at the earliest.

Hope you remember that whatever the outcome now may be for the best if you know what I mean. It's a wait and see now.x

@Mishmased December 1st feels so far away but fingers crossed it passes quickly and relaxes slightly in time for Christmas. We’ll find out our fate in a week or so!
Had a big temp drop this morning so maybe she’ll finally arrive today! Yeah any rational head knows that there are big silver linings to a bfn this month, which will certainly cushion the blow but I just wish af had come on time because that ‘what if..’ has made it that little bit harder! X

@Boc86 that’s the same as me, ov on cd20 - such a long wait!!

Last post didn't post! Im 10 dpo and got a second (faint) line this morning on a first response! Just tried to post picture but it failed. Going to test on Saturday again. Not due Af until Monday. Feeling nervous as only got to 6 weeks last time.

@Amy259 yeah that was the cruelest bit this month was AF being 5 days late, it starts to give you hope 😔 even though I fully knew I was out! Hope you take care of yourself this week ❤️

I’m in West Yorkshire so we’re deffo going on to tier 3 next 😂

@LS2020 I saw that on the news yesterday. Is it the strictest? Ours is very strict, exercise within 5km etc. I felt so sad the past few days with the talk of lockdown. They dragged it on and on and I got sick of hearing about it.

@Blughbablugh fingers crossed for you! Had a mc at exactly 6 weeks in July and I'm 8 weeks now. It will happen.x

Can I ask a really silly question? Say ovulation is around day 20, do you start testing around day 14/15? Do you watch out for ewcm or just go by ovulation sticks?

@Mishmased my answer to this may be TMI... but I really struggle to tell the difference between ewcm and the result of all the DTD we’re doing around the time it would be expected.. so I just go off my ovulation sticks and confirm with BBT. I’ve also never really really had lots of cm, so I used preseed the last couple of months too x

@Amy259 it’s so rubbish having to wait three weeks to ov isn’t it!

@Mishmased I start testing about cd12 just once a day until it gets darker about cd19
I’d hate to test too late and miss a random early ov!

@Boc86 it’s the worst!! And now af is late... so if it doesn’t arrive today, I’m on CD34. I feel like I’ve been misinformed - there isn’t actually much TTC time each cycle, just a LOT of waiting around instead 😂

No such thing as TMI on a ttc thread 😁
It's super easy especially as you're already tracking your bbt. The way you recognize it is it is sticky consistency like a raw egg white and not thin as say after dtd. You have to stick your fingers in there to have a feel and if it is around the time of ovulation when you wipe you can feel the sliminess (oh the joys 🤣🤣

@Mishmased yeah it’s our strictest tier at the minute but beyond don’t meet anyone outside your house and no alcoholic drink only venues. It’s not really that strict.
I just normally start testing the day the sticks suggest based on your cycle length. I think mine says start day 7 for O on day 13 so then. Like @Amy259 I’m useless at telling all the differences when DTD and get a bit grossed out touching my cervix so I avoid that.

@amy259 any sign of AF? Sorry it’s dragging on for you

@Mishmased I also have absolutely no idea how to check my cervix! I have no idea what I’m feeling up there so I don’t bother anymore 😂 I figure the OPKs and bbt must be pretty reliable, right?!

I tried some cervix checking the other month but it can move throughout the day so just didn’t bother carrying on

🤣🤣😆😆 you're so funny getting all grossed out touching yer cervix. Now I don't usually go penetrating it is usually there. So for instance after ovulation cervix is usually dry (and closed they say!) prior to ovulation you get sort of creamy discharge, then less creamy slightly stickier between the fingers and then the sticky bit but by the time you get past the creamy discharge you know ov is on its way. Can you girls tell I spent a lot of time on this 😆

I did try opk in August and I didn't get on with it so I guess different folks are used to different methods.

Oh @Boc86 how annoying another 2 weeks! I do really appreciate my short cycles but it feels like I never have a time to not worry about everything. I’m either bleeding, in FW or TWW so grass always feels greener!

@Mishmased fertile week ☺️Last two cycles have proper messed up my average cycle length though so I’m going to have to do OPKs this month as can’t rely on CDs, really hoping I’m back to CD12 to ovulate so I don’t have the same awful wait as last month
