TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

@LS2020 just 10dpo, normally af arrives on 12dpo but with the cp it was 16/17. I’ll test again each morning but I really don’t feel it this month.
That’s weird that you were 5 days late again... I wonder if that’s related to the cp.

@Amy259 10dpo is a reasonable time for implantation so isn’t fully unreasonable you might not be out yet!
Yeah it’s strange isn’t it, hadn’t noticed until I went to record it on app and looked at trend data. This one is much more painful already though which id heard so going to treat myself today 😂

@LS2020 yeah maybe, I just always thought with a LP of only 12 days I would need early implantation for it to stick. Not sure if it works like that though! You definitely deserve that treat, enjoy it!! 😂

@LS2020 just seen AF has started. At least you can prepare for this cycle.x
@Amy259 if AF starts then is tct off till Feb? Can you go on the pill until say Jan? Hope you don't mind me asking such personal questions?
On a slightly positive note I am able to reply from my phone and I'm at work

@Mishmased 😂😂 woohoo for phone signal at work! How are you feeling? I take it Covid tests were negative?? Did I miss that?
Yeah I think so, maybe March. I’ll wait until I get my official contract start date and do the maths from there. As long as I’ve been in my contract for minimum 52 weeks before mat leave starts, I get the full policy. If I’m 41-51 weeks in contract, I get the next step down which wouldn’t be the end of the world but I do feel like it’s worth waiting. DH is definitely keen to wait, he worries about money like no tomorrow (unnecessarily so, most of the time!) and I think I’ll have to concede on this one 😂

@Amy259 sorry I thought I posted already. Results came less than 24 hrs negative so I was at work yesterday and back today.
Taking a step back from ttc might be the break you need. I'd got on the pill and just enjoy having sex again 😊
I've missed out on mat pay before and it is so annoying so yeah good idea to wait.

@Mishmased great news on the neg results. Yeah, right now waiting 4 months feels like a lifetime but in the grand scheme of things it’s nothing. I’m just a bit scared we start trying again in March and it takes ages... but not much I can do about that!

I’m feeling quite thankful to have found this thread. I’m 5x weeks and yesterday and I started spotting with brown discharge and this morning and I got a negative on a clear blue today. Extremely gutted and now nervous. Is this how everyone else started with their chemical pregnancy?

@mabel9 I’m really sorry to hear you’re having a scary time. Are you still bleeding today? I tested every day after my positive (because I was already paranoid) and that meant I saw the lines get gradually lighter before I started bleeding. My test was then fully neg maybe 2 days after the bleeding started. I hope that helps? ♥️

I’m heavy bleeding now with painful cramps. I’m devastated and feel really silly for being this sad, I told my family and they are sad too which I feel bad about 😞 Are you trying again?

@mabel9 I’m so sorry to hear that, and you’re certainly not alone in feeling super sad. It’s not silly at all - as soon we see that bfp our brains start picturing the future and the next few months, so it’s like you lose that too and that’s really sad. I had already bought the baby grow to tell my hub and another girl here had ordered the books etc. It’s not just the pregnancy you lose, it’s your image of the next few weeks/months ahead - you’ve come to the right place, we get ya ♥️
Yeah we tried again straight away, you’ll maybe find your next cycle is pretty messed up but I used OPKs to find my ov. But I’m 10dpo now and tested neg today and don’t feel like last month so I’m pretty sure I’m not. It’s okay though, body probably needed a month to recover anyway!

Hi @Amy259 that’s so true, you are excited the moment you see those two lines, it’s so harsh. I also feel it’s now tainted any excitement for future pregnancies 🤞

@mabel9 yeah I think any pregnancies going forward are bound to be anxious times at the beginning now. I’ll just set little milestones in my head to aim to reassure me along the way.
I told DH as it was happening, and two of my closest friends (one of whom knew I’d gotten the bfp anyway). But didn’t tell fam as it would’ve really upset them, my mum especially.

@mabel9 sorry you’ve had to join us but welcome to the thread. I was on holiday for mine so only did the odd tests and didn’t notice anything strange so mine was a bit of a shock. Similar to Amy I’d told my OH and 2 friends who have been lovely but it’s perfectly natural to have been excited and plan. A CP doesn’t mean a normal pregnancy won’t happen in the future too ☺️

@LS2020 do you have to get up early for work😁 I work 2 long days and I'm up at 5:30. I'm just glad to have signal in the middle of nowhere. Home now and heading to bed😊

@Mishmased af due today, so not late yet but we’ll see!

@LS2020 I discovered the strip tests I have need an hcg of 25 so I’ve stupidly put myself in limbo where I don’t know if the bfns are really bfns because there’s no way my hcg would be that high when I tested. So I think I’ll just wait for af now!

Morning all. I am now 8dpo and yesterday started getting lower back pain and some mild cramping. I've been pregnant three times and just knew last time that I was pregnant before testing as had the same feelings that I had when pregnant with my daughter. Not due af until next Monday and just want this week to go quick so I can test!

That should say pregnant twice not three times. Feels like I'm tempting fate!

@Blughbablugh I think from 6-10dpo may be the longest few days of my life every cycle 😂 fingers crossed those cramps are a good sign! Do you feel similar to how you did last pregnancy?

@Amy259 I think I do. I have a full feeling lower down which I definitely had last time. I'm just hoping it's not af coming due to it being the first proper cycle since my miscarriage. I'm pretty regular 26 days cycle usually though and last time af arrived I didn't have any warning beforehand. I can't believe that with my dd I was so relaxed about it and tested because I was 3 days late.

@Blughbablugh that does sound promising! I know what you mean by that full, heavy feeling. I definitely had that last month but not this month.

@LS2020 not yet, but I had some cramping when I was out shopping earlier which is the first this month so I’m guessing she’ll be here shortly...
