TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

@Mishmased yeah it’s tough, more so because of just how good the mat policy is too. DH thinks if we’re not preg this month we should wait - which will be a bitter pill to swallow but sadly I think it may be silly not to. Enjoy your days off - feet up!

Oh really @Amy259 and @LS2020 that’s interesting about the cramps. I had them for a second 7dpo then for a few hours 8dpo but only my back and hips going into upper legs
Awful nausea 8dpo then absolutely nothing
BBT temp gone down every day for 3 days but not below cover line
Bfn every morning and evening that I’ve tested
10dpo now just wish I knew

Anyone testing soon? What dpo are we all or anyone about to ov?

@Boc86 hmm your cramps on 7/8 sound like they could be implantation but I would’ve thought you’d see a bfp by 10 then. But if it was later on at 8dpo it could well take until 11 to show! 🤞🏻 Are you testing with FRERs? I’m 6dpo so still in the boring bit here!

@Boc86 stay strong - still very early! When is af supposed to come?

Hi, sorry I'm late joining. I had a chemical in July, currently on CD4 3rd cycle since CP...its gutting isn't it. Totally relaxed after a BFP as we thought yes we've done it, and here we are still trying :( I didn't test early last week, waited for the day of AF and tried not to over think any of it, didn't help. Going to DTD every other day this month, plus an extra 1 in there during the day before/of/after ovulation for good measure where is everyone else at since CP or MC?

@Amy259 because of my luteul phase defect my period comes at 9dpo so yesterday, but my new progesterone suppositories delay the period until you stop taking them
So I take them till 14dpo, do a test and if it’s negative stop the progesterone and my period will come within days

Sorry for your chemical @MSG92 I had them in June and July and just haven’t fallen pregnant august September or October :(

@Boc86 oh sorry, I forgot the progesterone delays it. Well that means 3 more days of 🤞🏻🤞🏻 not out yet!

Welcome @MSG92 sorry to hear about your chemical in July. Mine was last month so this is my first cycle since and I’m 6dpo. I know what you mean, I was so happy and planning ahead when I saw my bfp but I’m not sure I’ll ever relax now if I get a bfp again!

@Boc86 maybe next cycles will be lucky for us, fingers crossed! I'm just trying to relax and not put too much pressure on it all.

@Amy259 thanks for the welcome :) yup, even if I see a BFP I think until. I get to at least 12 weeks I'll be a bag of nerves!

So glad to have joined this thread, great to have so many people to talk to, sad we are all in these situations. Isn't it funny for 8 of the past 10 years I've been been with my husband every month I've been celebrating AF as it meant I'm not pregnant, then when you don't want her there she is like clockwork!

Hi girls hope it's okay me jumping on this thread.

I had a chemical pregnancy last month (was our first month trying to conceive) it was gutting obviously as you all know, as you find out about it 🙁
Anyway I had a late ovulation this month with the WORST cramps ever! Did anyone else get this? I've never had ovulation cramps before, these happened 2 days prior to me doing to ovulation strips so put it down to that. Anyway we tried SO hard this month. Not sure exactly when my ovulation day was as had a few days of positive strips, not sure the strips were the best. I'm around day 10DPO.

Had a few cramps yesterday and a day or so before that, nothing today. Sensitive nipples but Im not sure if I'm just hunting for symptoms and imagining things. I'm now on day 39 (average cycle is 35), but because I've ovulated late, this would cause a late period too right?

Anyone else get a longer cycle than average after a chemical? Also when should I do a test? Hoping for a BFP but I'm unsure with this cycle.

Sorry to hear about your CP, it's horrible as you've only just got the news it worked in the 1st place! I ovulated about 3 or 4 days later the month I had my CP. Tbh I've been feeling unwell for a few weeks now, nothing specific but just not 100% and I regularly get stomach pains/cramps for no apparent reason. Nothing substantial.

As hard as it is, try not to think about symptoms, expect the worst hope for the best then you'll be less disappointed. I was so close to throwing up all day Saturday so was convinced that it could have been a BFP but next day AF came!

I ovulated maybe 2 days later and I would add 2 days onto this phase because your luteal phase normally stays the same. So when would your af be due if you add on the late ovulation?

For testing I think it’s totally up to you! This is my first month ttc after my cp last month and I don’t want to test early again because I don’t want false negs or false hope!! But it’s also good to know if you have repeat chemicals so it’s a tough one. When did you find out last cycle - did you test early or was af late?

Hi @Amy259 and @Boc86 how are you getting on?

AF is due for me per Fitbit app today but if I was having a normal period it would have been yesterday (can’t record a pregnancy in Fitbit app so just made me a have a long cycle which pushed my average up a day) so no idea what’s happening. Kinda not surprising as didn’t get a positive OPK so won’t be 14 days yet. Had a load of sharp stab cramps yesterday and this am but skin has now cleared up (my usual two AF signs) and RHR is low so not hopeful but would just like it to come in that case so I can get on to next cycle!

@boc86 as Amy said, it takes 48 hours to get a BFP after implantation so you’ve still got a few days to go probably 🤞🏻

@MSG92 @rachelttcbabyno1 sorry to hear of your losses but welcome to the thread. I’m in the month after a CP and my cycle is a complete mess too. Always been v regular so I’m more impatient than normal I think!

@LS2020 is that you calculating af based on your normal luteal phase?

I’m okay thank you, 7dpo today and had a crazy temp spike this morning. Was up during the night with a sick dog but that was around 3am and I took my bbt at 7:45am so I would’ve thought it would be a valid reading but it seems a bit extreme! Had no dip yesterday so doubtful it’s the rise after implantation.
Also had very vivid dreams last night and the night before (I know this makes me sound loopy!) which happened last month before my bfp. But that could def just be coincidence. Other than that, nothing to report! How’s everyone doing?

Hi @Amy259 it's so hard to not symptom check isn't it! You notice everything when your TTC. AF on her way out for me today hopefully, CD5 so I'll start ovulation testing later to get my baseline. Hopefully a busy weekend to keep me distracted, meal tomorrow for hubby's birthday which is today, did him breakfast in bed, then painting and boarding a loft over the weekend! Thrilling.

Anyone else around CD5 and praying this will be the cycle it happens?

@Amy259 no just going from normal AF length (I have regular cycles), i couldn’t get a positive OPK so don’t know when my LP is.
I honestly feel like all my BFP symptoms have just continued so I’m so confused. No sign of af yet but had the spots and cramps so hoping she’s here soon so I can get started on next cycle 🤞🏻

Honestly I can’t tell. I have all my BFP symptoms including nipples that have now deffo got darker but I didn’t get any AF cramps at all last month and had my normal AF type ones the past few days. But then that always had AF with it and it’s still not here so I’m v confused. My RHR is low which has been my main thing making me think I’m not but I had a dip before my BFP last month and it’s at the same level and was down (although not as big a drop last month) for the same number of days last month before my BFP so now I’m giving myself ridiculous hope I think. Going to leave it til Saturday and see what my RHR does before testing.

@Amy259 yeah it rises the day I was expecting like it normally does and continued up for about a week so I don’t think it happened later.

@Boc86 that’s a really good point from Amy - how much bleeding have you had?
