TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

So glad everything’s ok @Mishmased

Oh gosh @Mamainmaking1 wonder what’s caused that!

LS2020 · 11/10/2020 07:42

@Amy259 I normally don’t test until AF is late so I’m due on Thursday so if my RHR goes high and no sign Friday, I’ll probably test then.. or maybe Saturday. I tested on a Friday last time and couldn’t concentrate all day at work 😂 I’ve only got FRER so hoping I won’t waste the money! How are you getting on?

@Mishmased so glad to hear of your lovely news from your scan - hope everything continues to go well for you this pregnancy ❤️

LS2020 · 11/10/2020 07:42

@Boc86 how are you finding the progesterone?

Amy259 · 11/10/2020 08:44

@Boc86 how are you feeling? Any different with the addition of the progesterone?

@LS2020 in months you haven’t had a bfp did you find af arriving was easier mentally than seeing the bfn? I’m doing okay thank you, these last few days have flown so hopefully that continues into next week and I’m suddenly 14dpo instead of 3! 😂

How’s everyone today?

LS2020 · 11/10/2020 13:25

@Amy259 yes I did, mostly because I never ‘believed’ a BFN so even getting one id still keep hopeful and then when it arrived, the knowledge was harder whereas when I hadn’t tested and AF arrived, it was kind of a done thing. Plus I was on a new cycle so could mentally get ready for that whereas when you get a BFN at day 11dpo, you have that awful 3 days where you can’t even do that. I honestly don’t know how women test every day, would drive me personally loopy. Plus now I’ve had a CP, until I passed the 6 weeks now I wouldn’t feel happy so I’d rather be closer to that time than have 3 extra days of knowing.

Glad to hear it’s passing quick for you! Always good news :) had a wonderful day with OH with a lazy brunch, walk round the river and a nap! How’s bedroom clearing going?

Amy259 · 11/10/2020 14:17

@LS2020 yeah I agree with all of that, I think I’m going to try my best not to test at all this month. The only issue is that I felt completely different last month - normally at about 6/7dpo I get really, really bloated until af comes at 12dpo, whereas last month (bfp month) I wasn’t bloated at all but had sore nips, headaches and crazy dreams. So I feel like I might know anyway... or will at least overthink it. Reckon you’ll be able to tell now?
That sounds like a great day! We had a similar one, lazy morning (and surprise dtd from DH 😂) then picked up takeaway coffees and had a lovely couple of hours by the canal and in the woods with our dogs. Now for a lazy afternoon I think!

Boc86 · 11/10/2020 15:38

@Amy259 and @LS2020 absolutely fine on the progesterone, no problem at all so far!
Unfortunately I’m getting period cramps today which I always do at 7 and 8dpo before my period at 9dpo :(
Gutted. The progesterone will stop the period coming so I won’t come on in 2 days but I will when I stop the progesterone when I have to at 14dpo

LS2020 · 12/10/2020 07:58

@Amy259 ah that is tough as you had such clear change to your month but I have heard people have a range of symptoms ☺️ I had the opposite, until I got my BFP I genuinely wouldn’t have even guessed it. I remember saying on another thread that I understand why women don’t work it out for ages! Looking back only thing abnormal was the sore boobs but I have gotten them for AF before so wasn’t a massive flag. The only thing that did happen was that once I got my BFP at 12dpo I felt like my nausea and soreness came on really quick so I’m not sure if that’s a mental thing or that I need to feel like that the day AF is due to know.
Glad to hear you had a wonderful weekend ☺️ I’m 12dpo I think today and so much harder than I thought would be

@Boc86 I thought period cramps were the dropping of progesterone so if you’re still taking your supplements could be something else 🤞🏻

Amy259 · 12/10/2020 08:06

Morning!

@Boc86 like LS says, I’m sure period cramps are from your progesterone dropping so hopefully the cramping is because of something more positive! 🤞🏻

@LS2020 so af due tomorrow, if I remember rightly? So much harder as in to hold off testing or anxious about the result of the test? Or both?!

LS2020 · 12/10/2020 08:13

@Amy259 Wednesday I think although my app is saying Thursday so who knows! Just harder because at this point last cycle I got my BFP and it’s hard not to feel in the same place. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to be like when AF arrives this month, I feel gutted by the thought already. I really hope it comes Wednesday as I’m off so can have a moping day!

Amy259 · 12/10/2020 08:19

@LS2020 yeah that must be so hard, I haven’t even really thought about that yet. Still sure you’ll not be testing until af is late or are you feeling yourself wobble a little?

The thought of waiting for another cycle if this one hasn’t worked makes me feel really sad so even though I’m trying not to think negatively, I’m also trying not to get my hopes up - it’s tough. It seems the most common bfp after a cp is the second one after, so I’ll try to focus on that if it doesn’t happen this month.

LS2020 · 12/10/2020 09:38

@Amy259 I don’t know, I think I’ll more get sucked in as my cycle is messed up and I’ll take as a good sign if it’s not here Wednesday when actually it was probably never actually due then. Going to try hardest to hold off til Friday in that case though.

Ooh I didn’t know that. Everything I saw was people saying they never had a period between so that was making me feel worse that I’d missed that extra fertility time but that helps a bit ☺️ Think I wanted this cycle as could announce for Christmas too but never mind, not like we’ll probably see anyone 🤣

mondray · 12/10/2020 10:31

Hi ladies.
I was hoping to join here as there has been so many bfp's in this group and hoping it will rub off on me too 😂.

I had a cp at 5 weeks in June and nothing since. Been trying since feb and so tired of the waiting and hoping for something to happen.

Amy259 · 12/10/2020 11:10

@LS2020 yeah I read that it’s something to do with uterus not always being fully recovered in time the month that immediately follows. But stop talking like you’ve already ruled yourself out! This could still be your month 🤞🏻

@mondray welcome! Sorry to hear about your cp. where are you in this cycle?

Mishmased · 12/10/2020 15:20

Hi girls just catching up on this thread. I'm on nights now so sleep a bit messed up.
@Amy259 and @LS2020 give it until the weekend. Not easy I know I hope af doesn't show up, but if it does we can take it as a sign of the body repairing itself.
@Boc86 I don't know about progesterone but I will be keeping my fingers crossed for everyone ❤️
It will happen girls and I hope it happens soon.xx

Mishmased · 12/10/2020 15:23

@mondray sorry to hear about your cp. what are your cycles like? Are you temping/charting or just watching for ewcm?

LS2020 · 12/10/2020 18:14

@mondray sorry to hear about your CP but welcome to the group. I’ve been trying 16 months now and it’s so tough!

@Amy259 that probably makes sense as my ovulation was all over. I hope that’s the case. Deffo feel like I’ve had my normal AF cramps though my boobs have gone so painful today which has sadly got me excited 😂 it’s sad the things we look forward to 😩

@Mishmased thanks for your kind words. Hope the night shifts aren’t wearing you out too much!

mondray · 13/10/2020 16:21

Thank you so much for the welcome everyone. Always so lovely to speak to someone in the same boat.

@Amy259 I'm currently on CD3 and drinking all the wine while I wallow in self pity 😂.

@Mishmased My cycles are fairly regular. Between 27-29 days give or take with ovulation between CD16-18. I stopped using opk's after my miscarriage as it was stressing me out and my husband think it's a bit overkill (he's one of those that thinks relax and have sex whenever in the month and it will happen 😒). Have just been watching ewcm. I will be using opk's from this month again though.

Not temping either as my sleep is all over and I'm not sure it would work.

@LS2020 I'm sorry that you've had to keep trying so long. I feel bad about complaining about 8 months. It's hard no matter what.

Amy259 · 13/10/2020 17:39

Hi ladies, how’s everyone today?

@mondray that sounds very similar to what my CD3 looks like every month 😂😂

Mishmased · 13/10/2020 22:01

Hi guys, apologies for the late response. I woke in the middle of nowhere with no internet on my phone. How's everyone keeping?
@LS2020 I'm getting tired during the nights and it is only early days with pregnancy so not sure how I'll cope with another seven months. Although I know I'll be moved to days latest feb and knowing my manager he may insist on me going on days sooner.

@mondray my cycles are similar to yours. I have two kids and they we had sex around day 12 on both kids.
I did have a mc on my last pregnancy and after my period didn't feel like I ovulated, but had sex anyway. Hopefully it happens for you soon.x

@Amy259 how're you keeping?

Mishmased · 13/10/2020 22:06

@mondray just seen ovulation at cd16-18.
You probably do this anyway, I'll cover all bases and have sex every 2-3 days from day 9/10 until day 21. Any more could feel like a chore unless you're up for it Grin
As sperm lives for between 3-5 days that should have all the days in between covered Wink

Mishmased · 13/10/2020 22:07

@Amy259

Hi ladies, how’s everyone today?

@mondray that sounds very similar to what my CD3 looks like every month 😂😂

😆
Amy259 · 13/10/2020 22:11

@Mishmased I’m well, thank you! Had a bit of a weird feeling today.. I found out I got a new job yesterday and the maternity policy is a lot to think about. If I’m preg this month or next, it’s zero. If I fell preg Dec/Jan it would be 3 months at 90%, 6 months statutory. But if it was Feb or later it would be 6 months full, 3 months stat!! Which is a lot... and would make a big difference for us. But waiting until Feb would be really hard too. A lot of thinking to be done!! Obviously it’s out my hands if this month worked 😂😂

Hope you’re not feeling too tired? How many nights do you have left? X

Mishmased · 13/10/2020 22:43

@Amy259 oh that is so hard! This was me last year, moved jobs in Aug2019 and new company policy was one year service before full maternity pay for 6 months. Roll on February this year and policy changed to zero 😳 Then covid kicked in and we thought we'd wait and in June we decided to go ahead and got pregnant in July but mc at 6 weeks. And here we are.

On the other hand feb is not that far so say aim for end of Jan.
See how this month go first and have a chat with your DH to get his opinion. Why isn't anything easy 😩

Mishmased · 13/10/2020 22:45

@Amy259 I'm off now until Saturday. I work 2x days and 2x nights so two nights every eight days.
