TTC after a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage

Hi everyone, on a few really supportive threads on here but thought I’d make another for anyone who may be in a similar position to me and we can support eachother... I’m petrified of trying again after last month tbh.

Last week I thought our dreams had finally come true when I got 3 BFP (including a digital!).. a week later I was bleeding and a call to the EPU confirmed it was a chemical pregnancy / early miscarriage.. so I’m back here and tomorrow will be CD1 cycle 4 (I know so many people have been trying so much longer) but just didn’t expect to be back so soon after getting a BFP.

So tomorrow marks CD5.. AF is due around 1st August and I promise to not POAS (apart from the one I need to pee on tomorrow to confirm the pregnancy is gone!) until 8th August if AF doesn’t show.. I can’t risk seeing a chemical and testing early again so have told myself never again will I test early.

Would love some buddies along the way with me 🤞🏼🌈❤️

@Amy259 isn’t it soooo annoying everyone was right if you’re just chilled out about it, it would happen 😂😂

Thursday the 1st or the one before? Could be that you Ovulated early?

I don’t really know. If I’m honest I kinda just feel a bit under the weather generally but I’ve been in quarantine the last 2 weeks so haven’t left in the house or anything to even pick up a bug. I’ve tried to google some forums but people don’t seem to symptom spot as much after a chemical which is v inconvenient and anything on google says symptoms will go once you have a BFN which I had and did see them go but now this is two weeks later :/

Amy259 · 04/10/2020 10:22

@LS2020 I was bleeding until Tuesday 22nd so I gave it about a week then started testing on CD13, when usually I’d ovulate on 19/20. Unless it was super, super early and I’ve totally missed it - who knows! I’ve got no post-ov symptoms yet though, and I normally get bloated very soon after. I would guess is delayed, which is very annoying!

So when would you be due af now?

LS2020 · 04/10/2020 12:47

@Amy259 I’ve heard it go both ways. I’m just thinking re your flashing face, if your estrogen was already high in preparation for it on your base line test that might be why you’re not seeing the flashing change? You might just find it goes peak when you are due to O?

Due a week on Tuesday now so got a boring week wait really before anything happens!

Amy259 · 04/10/2020 13:02

@LS2020 yeah you could be right, maybe I’ll go straight from nothing to solid. I’ll just keep testing and see I suppose! I’ve developed a real dread of having to “force” DTD so I just hoped it would fall conveniently this weekend 😂

@Boc86 did you get your positive opk??

Boc86 · 04/10/2020 17:19

Hello yes finally!! Today and yesterday the opks have been positive so bd today, yesterday, day before and then we will tomorrow and next day, my legs are killing me haha

Sooooo hope this is my month and everyone else’s too

Hope you’re not waiting too long for ov @Amy259

Amy259 · 05/10/2020 09:56

@Boc86 wow that is a lot of DTD, I’m impressed 😂 I think my DH would have a heart attack if I said we were going for it every day for a week!

Flashing smiley this morning, so something is happening at this end. Happy Monday everyone!

Mamainmaking1 · 05/10/2020 11:05

Hi guys would you mind me joing in? Had a loss at 5 weeks end of july. No luck since and I am on day 12 now of this cycle. I usually ovulate/get my peak between day 11 - 13 but last month I finally ovulated on day 14 and was excited that my cycle was becoming more normal. This month I started taking procieve max (took normal preocieve last month) and I have been drinking nettle tea. This is the only two things I can think of that's been any different this month. My LH tests were fine up to yesterday when they got extremely low and same again today - my LH would usually be rising in anticipation for ovulation/peak tomorrow. No idea what is going on does any one have any advice? Thanks

Amy259 · 05/10/2020 12:19

@Mamainmaking1 welcome!

I think it’s super common for a change in prenatals to change your cycle. I’m definitely not an expert but it does seem that changes in any sort of supplement commonly delays cycles. I would just keep LH testing, hopefully your peak will come soon!

Mamainmaking1 · 05/10/2020 17:06

@Amy259 thanks so much for the reply. I am going to skip the prenatal now for a few days and hopefully that will bring on my ovulation and then switch back to the normal procieve next month as I definatly don't want to be getting longer cycles (the month drags already) lol. Fingers crossed it happens soon. What stay of the cycle are you on? :)

Amy259 · 05/10/2020 18:33

@Mamainmaking1 good idea, fingers crossed that sorts it for you. I’m on CD17 following a chemical last month, but have quite long cycles - think my peak will hit around Wednesday hopefully!

LS2020 · 06/10/2020 07:47

@Amy259 glad to hear you got a flashing smiley finally! I’ve had quite a bit of discharge last couple of days so we’ve kept up with DTD every other day to try catch any late ovulation but looking at my RHR I almost definitely have ovulated.

@Boc86 every day for a week? I’d need about a weeks sleep after 😂 glad it sounds like you’ve caught your O though ☺️

@Mamainmaking1 welcome! Would say similar to Amy - certain vitamins/supplements can change your cycle lengths so could be that you’re seeing. It looks like your last one was slightly stronger again has it risen now?

Mamainmaking1 · 06/10/2020 09:48

@LS2020 no it hasn't really risen again it is reading at 0.25 now compared to 0.22 yesterday. It's so strange as I never have issues with regular ovulation so I defiantly put it down to the vitamins. Not going to take them again and hope it starts to rise again soon. @Amy259 so sorry to hear about your CP, I had one in July and I still think about the what ifs but I've threw myself into being pro-active TTC. How are you doing?

Amy259 · 06/10/2020 12:01

@Mamainmaking1 how strange - it must be the vitamins. At least you have something to pin it to though, it would maybe be even worse if you hadn’t changed anything and this had randomly happened?
I’m doing well generally, thanks! Weirdly I feel a bit down about it all today - I was super keen to dtd this morning just because I wanted to but could tell DH wasn’t that into it and probably thought I just wanted to baby make, even though I said otherwise. Which is sad, I don’t want him thinking that’s the only reason I want to dtd!

Littlebee1990 · 06/10/2020 22:42

Hi Ladies,
Hope you’re all ok?
I had my follow up scan today at EPU and it was good news 🥰 Measuring 8+1 & bubba has a strong heartbeat.. the worries of the last 2 weeks have been awful but I’m hoping I can now try and relax. I have my dating scan on 29th October so hopefully I’ll be back then to update you all also ❤️

Anyone testing soon? Xx

Mishmased · 07/10/2020 06:26

Hi @Littlebee1990 that's great! I'm going through a similar situation to you and have an appt at epu on Friday but I'm hoping to call back today to ask if they will see me before Friday.
Any news on testing girls? Hope everyone is keeping well.x

LS2020 · 07/10/2020 07:15

@Mamainmaking1 if you’re not too bothered about taking special vitamins, I honestly would just get a folic acid and a vitamin D supplement and just take those ☺️ I was on a normal iron focussed supplement which is safe for pregnancy as I’m veggie and then dr said Vit d was low so just got some boots vit d gummies to go with.

@Amy259 it’s been really weird the change in my OH since the CP. we’ve been trying about 15 months now and while he was super supportive and wanted it to happen, i felt like if he had any suggestion I was ovulating the pressure was way too much for him and he’d never want to do. He’s been so much better since CP but it’s so hard when it’s like that so really feeling for you.

@Littlebee1990 wonderful news! Have a very healthy and happy 8 more months!!

@Mishmased I think I’m maybe 6dpo but who knows after CP. but interestingly my RHR is currently at my pregnancy level from last month - so the 64 on the right was 2 days post BFP and on the day my AF was due. Had my CP where the first dip down is and then AF is the down to 54 mark and then this is my next cycle

Amy259 · 07/10/2020 08:41

@Littlebee1990 amazing news!! Really happy for you 🥰 keep us posted!

@Mishmased sorry to hear you’re going through a worrying time. Keeping everything crossed for you and really hoping you can be seen sooner.

@LS2020 that’s a promising chart then?? When is af due, are you holding out until then? Yeah that sounds similar to my DH - he feels a lot of pressure when he knows I’m ovulating so said just not to tell him, but then when I’m initiating dtd more then normal he gets suspicious whether I’m just keen or it’s ttc related. Then I get sad he thinks I only want him because I want a baby, so I feel like neither option really works! It’s all just a lot 😂

LS2020 · 07/10/2020 09:21

@Amy259 it normally is, your RHR generally rises through first trimester but it’s so early I’m not sure. Last month though I did rise from ovulation pretty much continuously through but not as steep as this. Comparatively to my AF RHR, I’m at the same growth as the day when I got my BFP but calendar wise I’m 6 days behind that day so v confusing!
Af isn’t due til a week tomorrow so ages. I think if it continues up, I’ll try hold off til weekend but honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it’s just stress of this cycle.
Yeah it’s so difficult, I’m trying to just keep a regular every other day/3days with my OH but it’s taking some stamina so it’s more consistent for him and then when I’m ovulating, I’ll swap between morning and evening times so he doesn’t realise it’s only a day apart 😂 he’s been quite good this cycle though and even asked me how my OPKs are going so is a silver lining in losing the baby last month I guess

Mishmased · 07/10/2020 21:11

@LS2020 well done with all the dtd, it does require a bit of stamina 🤣
@Amy259 thanks tbh I don't know what is going on but will find out on Friday so fingers crossed. I hear you on getting DH interested, I tend to switch between morning and evening or Avery two days when I know I will be ovulating. I figured sperm lives up to 5 days so 2-3 days should cover it 🤣🤣

Amy259 · 07/10/2020 22:05

@LS2020 @Mishmased I’ve just had a shower and did a random bedtime opk and it was verrrry positive. Considering we dtd yesterday morning I’m doubtful I’ll have much luck this evening but if you could both just (in the least creepy way possible....) send some good vibes and pray for me that would be great 😂😂

MrsEmiB · 07/10/2020 23:10

Hey all
Really reassuring to find this thread and not feel so alone with the CP.

We have been TTC since May and last month was the first sign of any pregnancy, sadly it ended a few days later (approx 4-5 weeks).

I think we will just carry on like before, but it does make you worry. I tend to spot a few days before a period now... but only since we have been trying?

All this when you’re really young about being careful as you’ll get pregnant fast otherwise 😂 then when you want to....

Amy259 · 08/10/2020 08:00

Hi @MrsEmiB, welcome! Sorry to hear about your loss, and glad you found us.

How are you? I had a chemical last month too and I’m currently ovulating for the first time since. And yes I know what you mean, I think I spent most of my late teens paranoid I would fall pregnant when actually it’s a bloody fine art 😂

LS2020 · 08/10/2020 09:21

@Amy259 sending you both some sexy vibes 😂 hope you managed to DTD! Was that peak late for you?

@MrsEmiB sorry to hear about your loss. I also had a CP at 5 weeks last month and it’s tough. Re the spotting could it be that you’re DTD more regularly? That can bring on AF for me so may be something related to that?
I know I wish I had started trying much sooner now 😩

Amy259 · 08/10/2020 09:37

@LS2020 well DH came to bed last night feeling very loving so as luck would have it yes we did 😂 delighted. It’s sort of bang on timing wise but I definitely had fewer flashing smileys and my cb went static today when my peak was yesterday - that’s why I like to use both. The cb is good for fw but I prefer the cheapies for exact peak.

So we probably won’t dtd today (ov day) but have the last two and I’ll aim for tomorrow but I’m hopeful I’m covered.

MrsEmiB · 08/10/2020 10:55

Hey all :)

I’m ok thanks for asking, hope you are all too? It’s been an up and down week, especially as I suffer from anxiety and SAD this time of year anyway.

To be honest, we only tried twice last month and it wasn’t running up to AF. So I don’t think the spotting is due to that.
It’s all a bit new because I was on Microgynon for 14 years up until last Autumn... should hope it’s well out of my system by now.
