Late period - BFN on tests!

Hi all!

I can't see a recent thread for anyone that AF is late for and still getting negative tests so thought I would start one as we are all in the same boat 👎🏻

I'm now two days late and CD30. The main symptoms I've been having is a tonne of CM - so much so that I thought AF had started, lots of cramping and last night my nipples were sore.

Anyone else in the same position or has ended up with a positive test eventually after all the negatives?

Hi 👋🏼 I'm in the same position, I'm CD35 today and usually have 28-32 day cycles but I did have a chemical pregnancy last month so I'm guessing this may have mucked it up a bit! I last tested on Friday and had a BFN but yesterday and today feeling crampy, especially in my lower back, and also waves of nausea! If it's not my month I just want AF to show so I can move on 😭 also I usually get quite sore boobs before AF but they don't hurt in the slightest at the moment 🤷🏼‍♀️

Hiya OP, it took me a while to get a positive test, I was about 2ish weeks late for my period with my first baby before I could get a positive!!

@sle0911 I've heard after you've had a chemical you are more fertile that month, not sure how true that is but could potentially mean you are pregnant.

@mummy2myJJ I hope so! I definitely had lower back ache last month when I found out I was preg, don't typically have that as an AF symptom, but not going to get my hopes up, may re test tomorrow 🤞🏼 X

I cant comment re chemical preganacy sorry, but just hang in there! The nurse assured me (I have had multiple bfn) that lots of peoples levels are not sometimes high enough with tests.. Keep trying with pregnancy tests! I dont have a story to reassure you sorry, but im in the same position and its driving me crazy! They will not test my blood until the 9th... Been such a long wait!

Oh wow @Smiling124 that is a long old cycle! And the 9th still seems like forever away 😭 really hope you get some answers! Are your cycles usually regular?! X

@sle0911 I'm sorry about your chemical. I know what you mean about just wanting AF to show so you can just move on to next month. It's so frustrating.

@mummy2myJJ Wow two weeks late is quite a long time! How did you manage with the additional wait? Fingers crossed for us all!

@Smiling124 wow that's definitely late! Are you still trying with tests or are you now just trying to chill and hold off until the blood test?

I had this happen to me and I'm now 30 weeks
For some reason I didn't actually get a positive until AF was 6 days late! I assumed I ovulated late but midwife says not necessarily and sometimes it happens 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'd say you're not out of the game until AF appears. Good luck

I should add that before that I had a very regular almost to the day 28 day cycle so I doo was going insane not understanding why I was late and was even just praying for AF so at least I had an answer and could just get on with trying again next time! But 6 days late and I finally got a BFP, even then it was really faint! But a few days later the line eventually got darker and now I'm 30 weeks so all was fine

Sorry to hear about your chemical, I've had 2 in the past and they are devastating. But just to give you some positivity I had my second chemical in January 2017 and in February 2017 I was pregnant with my now DS 3. So you can get pregnant very soon after one.

(First chemical was November 2016 so all happened in very quick succession)

@TJ17 thank you! That's good to know, I took a test Friday which was negative and considered myself out, but the symptoms I've felt yesterday and today have me a bit hopeful again, will test tomorrow 🤞🏼

Aww good luck! Such a fretful time and I remember it well 🤦🏼‍♀️😣
But you're not out til you're out! Until AF is here there's always a chance.

@sle0911been ttc all of 2020 and jad cycles between 28-34 days, so this seems crazy! I have never skipped one, been off the pill since September!

@Smushty14 tested this morning and still nothing, I am going to now just hold off!! It strange I go through waves of thinking im pregnant (ttc #1) so never sure!

@Smiling124 We aren't out until AF shows! 🤞🏻I'm going to try and test just once a week now unless AF shows otherwise I will spend an absolute fortune on tests. How frequently have you been testing?

Don't be silly! It's nice to know that we have each other whilst we are going through this. It isn't something I can speak about to me friends.

Yes this is true.. It will be typical me that my hcg is low for some reasons... Just had a 2 hour nap, definatley feel exhauated!!

And yes.. I cant warrent any more, one a week is a good idea! Ive been doing cheaper ones, did have CB at one point but so expensive!!

@sle0911 I am exactly the same as you. My cycle is always between 28-32 days and I had an early miscarriage last month. I am currently 6 days late and have been doing tests every day since being late and all bfn. waiting and getting bfn is no fun. I have just been for a wee though and wiped a bit of red so this may be my af coming now. I’ll be sad but a bit relieved if it as af as I can crack on for next month. I heard it should make you more fertile for the next few months after mc- fingers crossed!

@Smiling124 I'm the same as you currently cycle day 49 and going crazy! Had an evap on a Tesco and then absolutely nothing since. Never been late before, always a 28 day cycle. Did have some spotting/discharge at 8dpo and 21dpo now nothing.

Interesting to hear other people's stories and experiences

Just thought I'd share my experience, I haven't been ttc for long but haven't been on hormonal contraception for years and even though my cycles are normally 28 days, I've had some random cycles that were 43 days long for no apparent reason. Please don't worry that it's anything sinister, it's generally due to a late ovulation, so if you track ovulation it will give you a better idea of when AF is due rather than just cycle days. Hope this is just a case of late ovulations and loads of BFPs arrive over the next week for you lively ladies x

@Muda rubbish isn't it 😩 did your bit of red turn into anything? Yes I'm the same if she's coming just want her to hurry up now! I haven't tested since Friday, got some FRERs coming today so will try that, if it's still BFN I'm considering myself well and truly out! Sorry to hear about your early miscarriage 😔 x

AF is here today fully so at least she has come and I can stop wondering what’s going on.

Interesting to find this thread as I'm in the same boat! Had been testing from about 11DPO and all BFNs. I'm now 3 days late on CD33.
I tracked ovulation, but ran out of sticks before I got my static smiley. Think I ovulated on 12th June. I just want to know either way now :(

@Smiling124 I will do! My right nipples is sore this morning and my normal morning coffee just doesn't taste right. Still no sign of AF yet. I just want to know either way now 🤣

@tootiredtoclean Oh my gosh that's a long time! When did you last do a test? Have you tried contacting the doctors about it or anything? Not that they are useful 🙈

@mrsrichy it's so frustrating isn't it? I just want to know if I am or not so I can prepare either way!

So now CD31 (3 days late), still no sign of AF!

My right nipple is sore this morning, my coffee doesn't taste right either. I had a bit of indigestion last night which I haven't had before. Then again I am symptom spotting as I either want AF to start or just to know why I'm late!

@Smushty14 it sounds like you're having some positive symptoms. I'm the same just want AF to arrive so I can start again. It's like being in limbo.

I've been doing 2 a week. Last one was yesterday. I've only got one left now so going to save it for next week when AF would be due again. Although today I do feel like it may be coming - sore boobs and cramping. I think the GP are putting off seeing me. One said sounds like you're pregnant to me contact us in two weeks so I did and got told to wait for AF to arrive .

@tootiredtoclean it’s frustrating (and expensive!) waiting and testing isn’t it. Although we don’t want AF to show up, when we get bfn you just want to know what’s happening one way or the other. So at least with AF here I can hope that my body is getting back to normal now ready for trying again. I hope you get an answer really soon!

@Smushty14 you certainly sound like you have some positive symptoms going on. When are you next going to test?
