@lamby12 you know the whole system is so confusing I really hope what I've learned can help someone else.

So we did the initial tests through our GP - semen analysis, estrogen & progesterone bloods and ultrasound scan - all normal. Then the GP referred us to the NHS fertility clinic at the hospital. COVID then hit.
In July I called the nhs clinic and asked what the waiting time was (closed to new patients, when open it's a 5month wait list) just to get an idea of if we should go private or not. They asked which tests I'd already had, they said they also like patients to do an AMH before the first consultation. I'd never heard of it before. The guy very kindly said I could do the test now rather than wait so it's all done and ready for when they open. He said the clinic have to order it, GP's can't order it (he said because it's expensive - I've read it's about £140 private I think). So did it the next day on the NHS at the hospital.

If I hadn't called to ask what the situation was I'd still be waiting not knowing I had less eggs left and no time to waste. Each step of the way I had to keep calling and asking to get anything done. The system is just so overwhelmed with lack of funding and COVID.x

Thanks @Dbop100 that's really helpful information. I wish you all the luck with your ttc journey!

lamby12 · 14/08/2020 09:40

@Dbop100 thanks so much for all that info, really useful because I have no idea about any of it!! Can feel a bit more informed now if we move forward with anything.

I have chased the doctors and my scan referral is in but may be a while, and my blood test referral is there so will have to book it for day 21 of next cycle (in day 23 now).

It's so difficult to know whether to just be a bit more patient, or start the referral process privately. As you say, there could be something that we need to address quickly.
X

Ladies go follow the fertility hack on Instagram, she's going to be going over the process of getting everything checked, how/when to contact gps what bloods to do and what steps to take. Think she's doing in her story tonight x

lamby12 · 14/08/2020 12:37

Thanks @Aokbaby !
Well AF is here for me (22day cycle, shortest in ages). In some ways I'm glad because I then don't have chance to start thinking.. could it be... onto the next cycle.

Any other ladies on here have short cycles? I'm worried that could be part of the problem!
X

notyetamumbuttrying · 14/08/2020 12:54

@lamby12 yes me 🙋🏾‍♀️ 24 days usually. When do you usually ov and how long is your LP?

lamby12 · 14/08/2020 13:22

I'm usually 24 days, looking back over flo I'm 24 days about 50% of cycles in the last year. The other half are 23 with a couple of 27s, so this one is the shortest.
I usually Ov around day 12 when I test, but they range from day 9-17. I usually just about get a 10 day leutal phase which I know is the threshold for too short, but it does make me wonder if that's the problem!
Have you looked into yours any further?! Taken any advice yet? X

notyetamumbuttrying · 14/08/2020 14:28

@lamby12 that may well be the problem yes. You should look up luteal phase defect and discuss with your GP. Mines between 12-14 days and I ov cd10 or cd12. Mine was always 14 days with cd10 ov but I took agnus castus which made it cd12 but then shortened my LP to 12. Been off it about 6 weeks now but I think this cycle will still be a 12 day LP as I feel quite pms'y today! Just hope it goes back to 14 days soon as that was always normal for me.

Chalkie67 · 16/08/2020 19:57

On the other side does anyone have long and irregular cycles? I am so sick of day after day after day of flashing smiley faces, just feels like it goes on forever and you keep thinking maybe I'll peak tomorrow, then maybe the next day! It just drags on and on!! Right rant over......

Jungle25 · 17/08/2020 13:29

Hello
just wanting to pop in with a question... i have asked before somewhere and got a reply just cant find it anywhere!!

I am using the easy at home ovulation tests.... and i am on cycle day 9...
does anyone else use these that can tell me when you take them and when you start doing twice a day..

Ppl say to make sure you have drunk to much before... but i am trying to drink alot more water and i need the loo ALL the time!! haha.

So please what times of day do you take these tests......!

thanks in advance.....

Chalkie67 · 19/08/2020 09:33

@Jungle25 first thing in the morning is the easiest time. I start around CD 10-12 but I have quite irregular and long cycles so it does depend when you usually ovulate. I test twice a day from a day before my earliest ovulation date and usually go for the evening as I usually drink less then....

Jungle25 · 19/08/2020 20:05

@chalkie67
Thanks for that...that helps.
I said I wasnt going to do any opks this month...but now the time has come I just can not help it! I need to know 😀

So yesterday was cycle day 10...I had some of the easy@home tests...so I did 2 one in morning and one in evening and both said low...we dtd last night as have been doing every other day....this morning I did another test which showed as high...then the one I did in the PM was low so it put my easliet test to peak...?!?! Does that mean my peak day is today...normally use clearblue tests but havent got any in and not very familiar with this easy@home ones that u loads pics of on to your phone..

To get a peak on cycle day 11 is quite early...
But I had ewcm yesterday and not much today...so does that mean I have ovulated..
And does it also mean I somewhere had a very quick lh surge as yesterday evening reading was low then this morning peak??

Hope that makes some sense...I'm just totally confused!!

Crayon7 · 21/08/2020 14:21

Cd 19 finally peak today so should ovulate tomorrow! Hate longer cycles everyone else seems sooner than me

Jungle25 · 21/08/2020 16:40

So how often to you dtd during fertile window?? 🤭

We were dtd every other day...then on wed I got a high reading which premom classed as peak as levels went back down after...so we dtd wed night and last night...but this morning I got a really strong peak....so if we do tonight and tomorrow that is 5 days running...is that just to much!!??? Wish we had just kept simple and done every other day!! But when I saw peak earlier in the week I didn't want to miss 🤦‍♀️

Any advice....

Tink2019 · 21/08/2020 16:45

@Crayon7 I had long cycles and they really do suck! Only silver lining is when you're not TTC you don't get AF as often!

@Jungle25 I'd probably DTD tonight too...then definitely treat yourself to a few nights off ☺️

How is everyone else? Still keeping everything crossed for some more BFPs from you ladies x

Aokbaby · 21/08/2020 18:11

Anyone any experience with taking 50mg of b6?

Chalkie67 · 21/08/2020 20:14

@Jungle25 sorry I didn't reply I had a super busy week! I don't use those tests but I do sometimes have cycles where my readings go up and down which is so frustrating I know! I generally try to Dtd every other day and then a bit more often once I am peaking. The only way you can know you are are ovulating is to do temping which I have started!

@Crayon7 I completely understand!! I ovulated on day 21 this cycle and that was earlier than last cycle so you are doing better than me!!

Tink2019 · 21/08/2020 21:31

I took it last cycle with the soy @Aokbaby, so could've helped with the bfp. I only took it once I'd confirmed O though (with OPKs and temps) as read it can push O back if taken before. Still taking it now x

Aokbaby · 21/08/2020 21:47

Thanks for reply @Tink2019, just started cd17 this cycle, wasn't tracking ovulation so hopefully it was afterwards, fingers crossed 🤞x

Aokbaby · 21/08/2020 21:53

@Tink2019 did you have any cramping before bfp? Like did you think af was on her way?

Tink2019 · 21/08/2020 22:02

@Aokbaby I did, still getting them now so expect AF to be there every time I go to the loo!

Aokbaby · 21/08/2020 22:14

@Tink2019 Oh really, your head must be wrecked with that. Hopefully they don't last much longer x

Tink2019 · 22/08/2020 08:25

@Aokbaby It's very stressful 👎🏻 I'm having a few early scans though because of some concerns the midwife has...first they thought it was ectopic so rushed me to hospital (was quite an ordeal - I passed out mid canula being put in then again mid walking down the corridor 🙈), then they rushed me back the next day because my HCG levels are extremely high. They've ruled out ectopic, but I have another scan in a few weeks to check for a heartbeat as high HCG can indicate a molar pregnancy. Just trying to think positively, not really much else we can do at the moment. How are you feeling about this cycle? X

Chalkie67 · 22/08/2020 08:42

@Tink2019 I'm so sorry to hear that, it must be really stressful! Thinking of you and have everything crossed that it's just baby keeping you on your toes!

Aokbaby · 22/08/2020 09:23

@Tink2019 sorry to hear that, you've been through it. Really hoping all works out well in the scans, hope you're not stressing too much 💕
So af is one day late for me ( never ever been late before) no spotting or anything and I always have at least 2 days spotting before af. Did one step pg test this morning and negative. I'm thinking maybe b6 is delaying af, as I have cramping and was expecting it to arrive all week. Ive been taking 50mg in mornings for about 2 weeks with other vitamins so now I'm torn as to whether to keep taking it incase it prolongs af further, what you reckon? 🙈 x
