@Posy1 I'm so sorry to hear your news, it's so unfair and I'm so sad for you. It's so awful that the doctor who gave you the news was clueless. When you've had time to process I wonder if the The Fertility Network support line would be able to give you some advise on your options? Has anyone else had any experience with them? I've not, I just heard about them on the BFN Podcast. Sorry if this turns out to be a stupid suggestion. Wish I could help, sending love x

lamby12 · 03/07/2020 09:52

@Posy1 sorry to hear about your test results, it sounds like your dealing with some really difficult news - I hope you're doing ok.

Sending hugs x

Just wanted to ask advice ladies - maybe I don't know as much about biology as I thought... Confused
I had a doctors appointment on the phone this morning to talk about the recent chemical pregnancy and TTC for nearing 12 months. They are going to refer me for bloods and a scan but said they won't do that until after I've had another period which could take a while. Could it really take a while after a chemical? I was only 5weeks ish.
I think I thought AF just joined in with the chemical and that was a period but now I'm embarrassed about my biology understanding...Blush??

The doctor also said we shouldn't TTC this coming month and I should wait a couple of cycles before tracking ovulation and DTD. Even though I wasn't planning on going full blown TTC this month because I'm still feeling quite down, I was planning on tracking my ovulation and DTD if it felt right. As you ladies will appreciate, a couple of cycles is an eternity right...???!!!

I know this advice is given after a later miscarriage for things to get back to normal, but after a 5 week chemical pregnancy? Is this right? If we weren't TTC and early testing I wouldn't even have known.

What do you ladies think?
X

Dbop100 · 03/07/2020 10:22

@lamby12 I was also 5 weeks and we ttc as soon as I stopped bleeding, ovulated on CD15. Didn't work out this month, AF started this morning, exactly 4 weeks to the day of the 1st day of my MC. But I'm glad we tried, trying helped me feel better about the loss. Unless there's another medical reason I don't know about I don't see why not start trying if you feel ready? The nurse at the EPU also told me to wait a month but I felt ready physically and mentally - I think she said it just to make the dating easier if it did happen but I know when I ovulated (used a CB) so I didn't see a problem. I also don't see why it's the doctors business if you track ovulation or not? Unless it's causing you loads of stress?

Side note - I really hate the term chemical pregnancy, it feels so minimising of what it was, I wish they'd just call it an early miscarriage.

lamby12 · 03/07/2020 11:24

@dbop100 Thanks for your reply. Yes I had thought the same - that if it was very early your cycles would pretty much remain the same. As everyone always says you wouldn't know about a chemical unless you're TTC and early testing. There isn't any other medical issue (that I know of..) and I want to track ovulation, and TTC if it feels right in another week or so, which it may.

I think I will take it with a pinch of salt, perhaps just over cautious advice. And yes, I agree with the term chemical pregnancy feeling so clinical - it's almost feels like it isn't deserving enough of the work miscarriage, but the loss can still be very distressing.

X

@Twinkletoes85 thank you for sharing that.

@Posy1 I am really sorry to hear about your results. It’s so frustrating that you couldn’t get some answers - I think in this situation you have to take the route that you feel is right so you don’t think what if later on. If that means going to a private clinic to get some answers then do that if you are able to.

@notyetamumbuttrying when I spoke to my GP (also London) a couple of weeks ago I then got a call to book in for a scan the following day - the scan would have been 10 days later. My GP said the actual wait to see a fertility person after all the testing is where the wait might be and so that’s why I decided to go to a clinic. I’m 36 so didn’t want to potentially wait but it may not be as long as you think.

Dbop100 · 03/07/2020 12:54

@lamby12 one thing I've learned is to trust your intuition. If it feels right for you then go for it, you know yourself better than anyone. This journey makes us doubt ourselves and our connection to our bodies but deep down we know what we need. If you do decide to go for it sending lots of luck your way. If not then hope you have a peaceful and restorative break x

Annny27 · 03/07/2020 13:21

@lamby12 personally I wouldn't wait after a chemical I would keep going :)

We had a MMC at 12 weeks and needed surgical management and I did wait a month after that but only because I had had surgery, had an infection and anemia from the blood loss. But there should be no issues for you if you do conceive this month just try and track ovulation so you know timings and dates as @dbop100 said :)

@Posy1 that must be really difficult news lovely 💗

@dsc1 have you ovulated? I am cd17 and had a peak opk yesterday and today so either will ovulate today or tomorrow I think

DSC1 · 03/07/2020 13:46

@Annny27 when I had my scan on Monday I was told I would ovulate any day as the dr could see the egg and measure the size - I wasn’t testing this month. DTD Mon/Tue/Weds, I would have done last night too but DH was knackered. I’m now in the TWW... good luck to you!!!

Tink2019 · 04/07/2020 10:04

Hi ladies, are any of you charting temps? Just noticed that this month all my temps from CD1 to CD20 are above the cover line bar 3. Is that normal?! Usually most of my temps before O are below the cover line... temps this month only seem to have dropped in the fertile week (CD20 onwards) 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dizzttc · 04/07/2020 18:32

Hi all.

I watched this earlier on YouTube. It made for an interesting watch lol briefly touched on sex every 2nd or 3rd day producing better quality sperm. It is an old documentary but worth the watch.

Hoping41 · 04/07/2020 21:51

Thank you @dizzttc - I've just realised we're on 2 threads together! I've started to watch the documentary, I'm totally hooked but I'll leave the rest for tomorrow. What a great idea to scale it up!!

Dizzttc · 05/07/2020 15:40

@Hoping41

Hi haha its hard to keep up whos were lol

it is a good watch. I only found it as it was mentioned in another video i was watching lol.

Aokbaby · 05/07/2020 18:37

Hi ladies, are any of you doing reflexology for TTC? I'm going for my first appointment tomorrow Eve and am very excited, the lady doing it is a midwife also, I'll let you know how it goes!!

notyetamumbuttrying · 05/07/2020 19:16

Sounds good @Aokbaby please do!

jlmul9 · 05/07/2020 19:33

FIrst flashing smiley of the month for me this morning. Here we go again! Wink

DSC1 · 05/07/2020 20:02

@Aokbaby I was looking into it before lockdown so would be really interested to hear how you get on.

@jlmul9 good luck!

Is anyone testing soon?

Hoping41 · 06/07/2020 07:19

@aokbaby yes, I was looking at it too but it's not open again up here yet. My acupuncture is starting again though so I might go back to that.

Tink2019 · 06/07/2020 07:57

@DSC1 don't think I will - have had cramps one side since 4dpo and none of my usual symptoms so was getting my hopes up, but temps have dropped last two days and feeling like AF is about to come now (due Wednesday) 👎🏻

KK251289 · 06/07/2020 10:30

Sorry to hear you think AF is on her way @Tink2019 I really hope she doesnt show up for you.

KK251289 · 06/07/2020 10:35

Does anyone use the clearblue ovulation tests, despite me promising I wouldn't test this month, I caved especially as the bargain on amazon was so good! Anyway I went a bit mad on the testing front, tested Friday Am, PM, Saturday AM, 10pm then 2am, all flashing smileys! Got up at 9:30am Sunday and it was a static smiley. Does the static mean ovulation is due in the next day or that same day, it confuses me. My poor OH I've made him DTD so much he must hate me right now Grin!

Tilly1403 · 06/07/2020 11:00

@KK251289 for me it's usually the day after, but can be that day or up to 48 hours after so your best bet (warn your tired OH!) Is to DTD today, tomorrow and the next day to cover all bases! Good luck!

DSC1 · 06/07/2020 11:06

@KK251289 once you get the static smiley it means you should ovulate within the next 12-24 hours so you are at your most fertile now. The smiley stays for 48 hours as once you ovulate the egg then remains for up to 24 hours. Hope this helps and good luck!!

KK251289 · 06/07/2020 11:09

Thanks @Tilly1403 Smile will definitely try to do that.

Thanks @dsc1 that really helps. Fingers crossed! Surely surely I couldn't be anymore accurate flashing smiley 2am, static 8 hours later and DTD straight away and another last night just incase. Plus after your advice today over the next few days also! Hope you're doing ok this cycle.

Annny27 · 06/07/2020 12:43

@DSC1 I am in the two too now - 3dpo!

DSC1 · 06/07/2020 13:26

@Annny27 I am 4/5 dpo... hopefully this is our last cycle!
