@DSC1 my GP won't refer me until November (12 months after my miscarriage) so I have 5 or so months to wait!

DSC1 · 19/06/2020 16:28

@notyetamumbuttrying that is going privately but I did get a call today from the NHS to book a scan and the wait wasn’t long at all (a week). The reason I have gone privately is because both me and DH would have to have all the tests done before you get referred to the fertility Dra and even the GP thought it was best I don’t hang around after I told her my results from some of the tests.

@Annny27 that’s annoying. I also had a miscarriage prior to having my LG. Fingers crossed this is your cycle, I know how I just felt like something was missing after my miscarriage - it’s so hard

Seafrontsky · 19/06/2020 17:42

That's good news @DSC1. Good luck! Hope it brings a clear way forward for you.

Ladies I need some advice. I may be being silly, I'm not sure! I've just had a call out of the blue to book in my laparoscopy. I went to see a specialist just before Christmas and they said everything looks fine so the next thing is a lap. Then covid hit and I couldn't go in march/ April when they'd anticipated. I feel in a right fluster, for 2 reasons:

  1. I honestly thought I'd get pregnant before and not need it. It's under general anaesthetic and is quite invasive. Added to that with covid my whole family have to isolate for 2 weeks before and I'll be out of action for a few days. It would be good to know one way or another if something is wrong, but I've been working so hard these last 6 months with alternative therapies and I dont feel theres anything physically wrong with me. Plus results all seem fine from bloods, semen etc. Anyone else had laparoscopy? Am I over worrying about going under GA and into hospital during covid?
  2. If I do go ahead, I need an excuse for the whole family isolating to tell my mum! Sounds silly but we dont have a particularly good relationship, she doesn't know we are TTC (she would be very judging about it) but my DDs now see her a few times a week and she only loves 5 mins walk away. Any ideas for white lies?! I'm rubbish at that! Thought of saying we have covid symptoms...

Weve been trying for 2 years now (although with 6 months break to move house, and probably 9 months with issues with thrush etc that's maybe 9 months). I feel completely fine and like this will happen soon for us, but not sure if I should have the laparoscopy or not given the disruption and risk. Then again maybe there is something wrong and this would sort it?!
Sorry for essay!

Tink2019 · 19/06/2020 18:07

@DSC1 Glad you're feeling better, I think a lack of control (at least for me) makes everything so much worse, so having just a teeny bit of control is good. Let us know how it goes x

@Seafrontsky if you decide to go for it I think you could definitely say someone in your house has a high temp and cough so self isolating as a precaution. It's really hard to know what to do, but if your gut is saying everything seems fine and you're happy to wait a little longer I'd be inclined to do that. The fertility clinic we're with had said that'll be the next step for me after Clomid as they suspect endometriosis and I'll definitely go ahead even if Covid is still around just because I've felt for a while something isn't right (based on temps, OPKs and long / irregular cycles). That probably doesn't help...what does your partner think? X

Missgoldilocks · 19/06/2020 18:28

@Seafrontsky have you had a HSG yet? It's less invasive but you can see if the tubes are ocked without going under GA? I'm looking into that right now, if you haven't done it maybe you could do that before the larger op with camera etc? Sorry I'm not much help x

gypsywater · 19/06/2020 18:33

@Seafrontsky I had a laproscopy in 2016 to look for possible endo and it was found and removed there and then. I found it all fine. The GA was light and the whole thing pretty quick. Three v small incisions - in navel (cant see it now), one on my side (tiny scar) and one on bikini line (tiny scar). The only pain I had after was in my shoulder which is due to the gases they use affecting nerve in shoulder - this is common and although sore did go in a couple of days. I imagine I may need another lap at some point in case the endo came back and I wouldnt be nervous about having another one. Hope that helps a bit.

gypsywater · 19/06/2020 18:37

@Seafront I do see your point though if you have 9 months of actual trying. Could you book in a slightly delayed one then cancel if no longer needed :)

Seafrontsky · 19/06/2020 18:44

Thanks @Tink2019 I think we will go for that excuse if we do go for it. DH is super supportive and if I felt strongly in either direction he'd go with that. We are both pretty chilled out people and generally would be wait and see but it's my age (38) and time TTC that's making me question if we need to go full on investigations. I had 2 DD easily, a csection with the 2nd and a lot of blood loss but otherwise ok. I have 27-29 day cycles, 3-4 day periods, lose about 40ml blood, tests show all hormones ok, I'm ovulating fine (from BBT and specialist scan showed it too). Only thing is slightly elevated TSH which I'm working on.

When I saw the specialist @Missgoldilocks it was presented as an either HSG or laparoscopy, and given my age (he really banged on about my age) he said they'd give me 6 months before proceeding to IVF. So DH and I talked and thought the lap was best to get clearer idea of whether anything was actually wrong. IvF is where we would draw the line in our journey so it does feel I probably need to suck it up and just go for it!

Seafrontsky · 19/06/2020 18:49

Thanks @gypsywater that's reassuring. I've had major hospital stays before so not too worried about after as I'm fine with pain. It's the prep and it being a whole family affair!
I did think about booking for a few months time. The lady was only booking to end of July, I was put on the spot and always feel you cant really say no! But on my mind is if I delay 3-6 months and still dont have a BFP I'll be annoyed still. I was supposed to have in april so technically that's 3 months later already. God I'm so rubbish with these things!

Tilly1403 · 19/06/2020 20:36

@Seafrontsky just a thought, saying symptoms of covid might not work if your family ask why don't you just get a test. You could say you've been in contact with a covid positive person and have to isolate for two weeks but can't be tested because it wouldn't be detectable unless you had symptoms Smile

Douya · 19/06/2020 21:53

Hi everyone, can I join? I'm 29, TTC for 7 months, had five negative cycles, cycle length varies 36-49 since coming off pill. Was previously 31/32 pre-pill. Currently cd18 on 6ty cycle, using opk for first time this cycle. Only had a blank circle so far. Had been trying to DTD at least every other day except for AF, but we've had no luck with that, so turning to the opk! Hoping to have some idea of when AF is likely due, and confirm I'm actually ovulating at all as 36-49 is quite a wide range. Good luck to everyone!

Swifty2 · 19/06/2020 22:18

@Douya I have PCOS and my cycles sound similar to yours, usually 32-46 days! I've found ovulation anywhere between cd20-29 using bbt and opks so fingers crossed for you too! We're trying the opposite to you this cycle, we're going to did every other day instead of aiming for the fw 😂

Twinkletoes85 · 19/06/2020 22:39

@Seafrontsky sorry I can't provide and advice regarding the laparoscopy however I agree with @tilly1403 can you say you've got the track and trace app or you've been told you've had contact with someone.

Then you don't have to pretend someone's feeling ill and potentially be outed by DDs when they go 'no one ha a cough mums wrong' (not sure how old they are but kids are rotters for dropping you in it!

@Douya welcome! 😊 fingers crossed for you the opks help. I'm on my second month using them and I've already found this month it was easier to predict when I started to get a reading from what my body was doing.

Aokbaby · 19/06/2020 22:45

Hey everyone, hope you're all well. Second cycle using opks and I think I've missed my lh surge, was just testing once a day and had a strongish line on wed, nothing on Thurs and nothing today. I was expecting to get strong line today as I did in last cycle, today is cd 18 for me so maybe I just ovulated late last cycle? I've been using the eBay cheapies so possibly not the most accurate and have been using bbt but even that seems a bit up the left at the minute.also didn't have as much ewcm this month either, this tracking business is hard work and sets the mind into overdrive 🙈

KK251289 · 19/06/2020 23:17

@Douya welcome to the thread. Hope you get your flashing smiley soon.

@aokbaby I was using some cheap ones on Amazon and I found them so difficult. I would always use them first thing and I would have lines that got slightly darker each day but then just stop. Next cycle I'm sure I'm not going to track it's a bit stressful. Hope you're doing ok x

Twinkletoes85 · 20/06/2020 07:48

@Aokbaby tracking really does drive you mad. Going by last month I should have my static smiley today but it's another flasher.

I have a feeling it's going to be a 9 flashing smileys stop testing month as I just feel nothing. The only sign I have is ewcm on and off. My temp doesn't seem to have any sort of pattern this month either

Douya · 20/06/2020 07:53

@Seafrontsky Could you say the lap is to check for endometriosis? Same procedure, but a different reason to need one. There seem to be a few different uses for laparoscopy so you could select a different reason.

Hoping41 · 20/06/2020 07:54

@Douya welcome. Good luck for this cycle 🤞🏼
@Twinkletoes85 I’m no help on the lap either but I think if it were me I’d book it and see how that sat. I’m guessing it’s easier to cancel than to rebook?
@Aokbaby I use the ic ones for ov. I do 2 a day when I’m close as my lh surge doesn’t last long. They tell you not to use fmu so I normally do one late morning/early afternoon and another later evening. Last month I did smep and that said to start testing earlier than I normally would - I also noticed days the line was there (but not too dark) then it would disappear and come back before eventually going dark on the day I expected! I love the ic, they’ve worked great for me.

Me and OH have started taking the pregnacare and wellman. We’re taking them with our evening meal as instructed but I feel rough! OH is fine but I’ve had heartburn, headaches and night sweats since taking them. Has anyone else experienced anything?

DSC1 · 20/06/2020 08:34

@Seafrontsky I have no info about a laparoscopy but I do know that hospitals are being so cautious at the moment. If you do decide to wait, you just don’t know which way things will go with Covid.

@Douya welcome to the group! Hoping you get your BFP very soon.

@Twinkletoes85 have you ever had a month without a static smiley? When I know I’m around the time I should ovulate, I also test towards the end of the day - I rarely get the static in the AM. The EWCM is definitely a positive sign though.

We are on 995 messages, are we able to start a new thread? So much going on here!!!

Made a new thread!!! That should link to it (I hope!)

@DSC1 I've only been using these since last month but I dread a month with no static I think I'd go mad! I might try test again later tonight. I wasn't sure if you would get a different result?
