Hi @1940s welcome to the thread. Are you ttc #1? Where abouts in your cycle are you?

@Bella330 Congratulations! All the best to you!

Twinkletoes85 · 17/06/2020 16:48

@dsc1 he was saying that three to five days is what he would say is normal and I don't know if he actually said it or if it was just the impression I got (working while I listen) but more than a day of medium flow.

I'm going to go back and look him up properly as he actually had some interesting things to say. It's just another thing to latch on to as a worry though when maybe it shouldn't be.

@KK251289 thank you! I used to have those dreams all the time! Even after the ectopic in January. Also i used to drive myself crazy leading up to AF trying to symptom spot. This month is completely bizarre I have zero pregnancy symptoms! Everything is completely the same as I normally am. The only difference is the night sweats and I mean sweats! OH has been teasing saying he’s going to put a towel down it’s that bad 😂 fingers crossed your BFP is soon!

Thanks @Twinkletoes85 yes it’s still obviously early days but I’ve phoned my EPU up and they’ve got me booked in for bloods doing then they can book a scan. They still remembered me from the beginning of the year! Xx

Tink2019 · 17/06/2020 17:15

Thank you for the reassurance @Bella330 - I've spent most of this afternoon googling, so don't feel quite as worried as I did earlier.

@Swifty2 any tips or advice you can share would be amazing 😊 The consultant said to increase protein, stop eating fruit and yoghurt for breakfast (there was me thinking it was healthy!) and instead have egg, fish or meat (?!?!) and cut down on carbs x

@Twinkletoes85 I used to worry my periods weren't normal, mine are very heavy for almost 6 days normally, but I think everyone's just different. A close friend has a very light period for just 3 days and she has a little girl and another on the way and had no problems conceiving either x

introv3rt · 17/06/2020 17:41

@Bella330 congratulations!! Amazing 💕

Posy1 · 17/06/2020 17:49

@Hoping41 oh, I must look into pomegranate juice too. Yeah, the DHEA is very interesting. I know you did some medichecks. Did you get a value for your testosterone levels?

@twinkletoes I'm worried about the lightness/length of my period too, usually only 2 days of medium/light bleeding and then spotting. Think the best way to check if it's ok is to get an ultrasound around day 21 to check the thickness of the lining.

@Bella330 so, so happy for you. It sounds like you have been through alot. Congrats and really hope it all goes well.

@Tink2019. I can imagine you are a bit shocked, but it's so good they have a plan for you now. Do you have irregular cycles and pain after DDT and around AF? Lots of women conceive with those conditions and at least you know what you are working with now.

@1940s welcome to the thread. You will find alot of support on here. How long have you been TTC

@DSC1 day 9/10 is the earliest I have ovulated. It's usually day 11/12. It prob means I'm heading towards peri menopause unfortunately as they were longer previously. Still, I won't lose hope while I'm still ovulating. Do you have regular cycles? How long have you been trying again? Sorry im sure you have said before.

I feel there are some more BFPs coming soon on this thread. Lets hope @Bella330 has started a trend. Xx

Swifty2 · 17/06/2020 18:10

@Tink2019 so one symptom of PCOS can be insulin resistance so they would probably recommend steering away from carbs including fruit which is a high sugar carb (or going gluten free) because carbs spike insulin. Dairy is known to be inflammatory and PCOS is an inflammatory disorder so that's probably why they said steer away from yoghurt.
It's really really common and the chances of conceiving despite having pcos are high!
I take a few supplements to help with various things: l-carnitine and myoinositol to help with the insulin resistance. They also recommend fish oil and vitamin d to help with hormone regulation.
I have irregular cycles but I'm fairly sure (through bbt and opks) that I'm ovulating every month and I'm assuming you're in the same boat if you're only just finding out about the PCOS now? Hopefully it's just something we have to be aware of rather than something we have to worry about! Also I recommend a book called 8 steps to reverse your PCOS. Hope this helps!

Twinkletoes85 · 17/06/2020 18:35

@tink2019 that's good to know about your friend, thank you. 6 days of heavy flow doesn't sound fun at all!

@Posy1 I presume the scan is something you only get if you go private/have been trying for a year?

OP posts:
Tink2019 · 17/06/2020 18:48

@Posy1 yep, fairly irregular cycles (ranging from 27 to 37 days) and I get pretty bad symptoms before AF (cramps, migraines etc) but no pain during DTD thank god!

@Swifty2 that is all amazing, thank you! Not 100% sure if I'm ovulating - I normally get a peak OPK once a cycle and EWCM but my temps rise very slowly and possibly not as much as they should, so not clear if I'm definitely ovulating atm or possibly only ovulating some cycles. It's part of the reason we decided to check things out before the year mark - things just don't seem right! Think the Clomid is meant to help with ovulation x

gypsywater · 17/06/2020 19:06

Guys this is probably a dumb question, but can you have a period but not ovulate? Eg regular cycles but no ovulation?

Posy1 · 17/06/2020 19:12

@Twinkletoes85 yeah most likely unfortunately. Your medium day and two light days doesn't sound too bad though. Do you use a menstrual cup? Apparently a normal period is about 40mls, which doesn't sound like alot. Makes me think that my periods from before going on the pill were abnormally heavy. Still are so light at the mo I'm not sure if I would lose 40ml.

Twinkletoes85 · 17/06/2020 19:21

@Posy1 no not at the moment, I've toyed with getting one but I keep hoping I won't need it.

40mls doesn't sound much at all! That's interesting to know

Swifty2 · 17/06/2020 19:21

@gypsywater I believe it is possible to have a period every month and not be ovulating. Because this shit isn't difficult enough already Sad

Posy1 · 17/06/2020 19:22

@gypsywater Yes, unfortunately you can. You can have anovulatory cycles, and there is also something called unruptured follicle syndrome (although I think this is quite rare). In most cases though if you have regular cycles you most likely are ovulating. Temping is a good way to check. OPKs can show the hormone levels are rising, but unfortunately they dont confirm ovulation. Do you temp?

gypsywater · 17/06/2020 20:10

I've not temped yet but getting Ovusense if AF comes this weekend!

DSC1 · 17/06/2020 20:26

@Posy1 yes my cycles are pretty much regular, from 26-29 days although I am about to enter cd30 which has never happened before and still just spotting. Will be entering cycle 11, I already have a LG.

I’m thinking of going for a private fertility check. I was tempted to do more home finger prick tests but just feel there’s not much point as ultimately I’m not getting pregnant and want to have a proper check.

Posy1 · 17/06/2020 20:56

@DSC1 I would be tempted to do another test if I was you, but I am a bit of a POAS addict 😂. I've just bought a big box of the internet cheapies to keep me going for a few months. How old is your daughter? Our DD is two and a half.
We are getting some checks through the NHS this month, but Im not sure if they will refer to fertility clinic as we already have a DD. I know we def won't be entitled to IVF though. ☹️

Aokbaby · 17/06/2020 20:58

@gypsywater yea it's called anovulation, it's just the womb lining that sheds without the egg being released

@Bella330 wonderful news, congratulations xx

DSC1 · 17/06/2020 21:12

@Posy1 my LG just turned 2 on Monday! I’m in a bit of a weird headspace if I’m honest... part of me feels like I have maybe accepted that there may not be a #2 and in doing that I’m feeling a lot more relaxed about it all. I would previously POAS every month as soon as AF was a few days away. I used yesterday a FRER and feel if that came up -ve than the chances are very slim. If I still haven’t come on by Friday I will definitely test again. I’m going to be 36 in a few weeks and had a slightly lower AMH (ovarian reserve) level when I did a home finger prick test a few weeks ago.
How long have you been trying? Do you know what tests they will do on the NHS for you?

Catchme91 · 17/06/2020 21:47

Hi guys! Can I join? Been lurking for a while - TTC baby #1 - on cycle 10 and getting alittle downheartened!

First cycle of trying Angus castus - have a slight worry I have PCOS so got my fingers crossed this may help!

Annny27 · 17/06/2020 21:50

@Catchme91 I have heard a few people take about agnus castus - what is it and what does it help? Cycle 7 after miscarriage for me and willing to try it all.🤣

Catchme91 · 17/06/2020 22:03

@Annny27 hi!

It's a herbal remedy - tablets you take once or twice a day. Only take up until ovulation, and then start again at time of the month
Supposed to help lengthen literal phase of cycle, and regulate cycles.

Supposed to help with PCOS so thought it could be worth a try

KK251289 · 18/06/2020 03:59

Another 3am anxiety wake up call courtesy of TTC! Trying and failing for over an hour to get some sleep. Not due AF until 26th but got terrible cramps already! I'm so done with this whole thing now. Honestly thinking next month no tracking, no pills, no opks just DTD! If it doesnt work next month I dont know what I'll do.

Aokbaby · 18/06/2020 07:25

@KK251289 hope you're ok, I think I'm going to do (or not do) the same as that next cycle too! It's all too much, sending hugs x
