@DSC1 good luck with the GP, let us know how it goes.

These are the ones I use. I tried the night times ones before and I didn't think they were as good.

Tink2019 · 18/06/2020 13:40

Sorry to hear lots of you have had AF arrive, it's so frustrating and disheartening but we will all get there ❤️

@KK251289 I know lots of others have posted, but just make sure you're being kind to yourself - make time for you if you can and read or watch something so you can switch off. You're not out yet (I think I've read that right), so will keep everything crossed for you x

@DSC1 we went private as my temps weren't filling me with hope that I was ovulating - the clinic said they had to apply to reopen so hopefully the ones close to you will open soon 🤞🏻

@Twinkletoes85 do you mind me asking what epo is and how it's making a difference? Sorry if you've said this before!

KK251289 · 18/06/2020 13:45

@Posy1 thank you so much, I'll make an amazon order now.

Thank you @Tink2019 planning on doing a workout after work, the finishing a McDonalds documentary I'm watching. Not out yet, I'm due AF on 26th, which is my payday from work so if I'm pregnant I'll be saving my money, if not I'll be treating myself.

DSC1 · 18/06/2020 17:07

So I called my GP and had a phone consult. She was more than happy to get the ball rolling but did mention that it would take some time to get the tests done but has left the papers for me to get bloods and OH a semen analysis booked. Will see how long wait times will be and then maybe take the private route as given my past history and age, time not on our side.

Twinkletoes85 · 18/06/2020 17:31

@KK251289 were you watching the one about monopoly?

I'll keep my fingers crossed you will be saving and not spending on pay day.

@DSC1 how are you feeling now you've spoken to her and taken those steps?

@Twinkletoes85 if I’m honest I feel a bit sad in a way. I suppose it makes it all feel real that there may actually be a problem this time round. Maybe I am feeling like that though as it’s CD1. Also everything just feels harder given the Covid situation (LG not in nursery so arranging appointments is difficult). I suppose just take things 1 step at a time and what will be will be.

We may need a new group soon, this new thread has gone over 950!

Posy1 · 18/06/2020 18:12

@DSC1 oh good. Glad they have ordered some tests for you. It would be great if you could get the day 3 and day 21 blood tests done this cycle? Most hospital blood test departments are walk in as far as I know. Did she say what would happen next regarding referring on? How long did it take you to conceive your DD?
@Tink2019 did you choose your local clinic or was it recommended to you / found through research?

Tink2019 · 18/06/2020 18:14

@DSC1 That is exactly how I felt! I actually cried because it made everything so real...totally normal to feel like that I think xx

Tink2019 · 18/06/2020 18:17

@Posy1 It was a bit of both. I looked on the HFEA website at clinics near me (www.hfea.gov.uk) then randomly a friend also recommended the clinic I was looking at. On the HFEA you can look at stats etc - that was the main decider first me x

DSC1 · 18/06/2020 18:21

@Posy1 I did day some tests recently via finger prick. It’s my AMH level which came back lower than expected (ovarian reserve). I came off the pill after 15 years and was pregnant after 2 cycles but had a miscarriage and then conceived quickly again so wasn’t expecting to have difficulties. She said the whole process would take a while and suggested I do go private if I can - I could have an appointment in a few days time.

@Tink2019 thank you for that, it’s reassuring to know you felt the same. Where are you up to with regards to your fertility tests?

Tink2019 · 18/06/2020 18:29

@DSC1 we've had sperm analysis back (all good) and I got my AMH back today - randomly they thought my AMH would be high as that's often a sign of PCOS (which they suspect I have) but mines apparently normal for my age (34). Next step is day 2-5 bloods, a scan at day 7 then day 21 bloods. The day 2-5 bloods they've suggested I ask the GP to do if they can, but not sure they'll be able to x

Twinkletoes85 · 18/06/2020 18:31

@DSC1 it's perfectly understandable that you feel how you do. The situation with covid making everything just so bizarre doesn't help at all.

One day and one step at a time sounds like the best way to take it and know that we're all here for you.

I've said it before but there so much out there to help now that even if something does show up at not quite right it's by no means insurmountable.

You'll get your bfp!

Has it really got that big already! I've switched to the app so it doesn't show in the same way!

@Tink2019 thank you for that link. It's really useful.
@DSC1 @Tink2019, sound like we will all be getting blood tests soon then. I have booked my day 3 test for next Friday (I predict I will be day 2/3 then). I'm hoping my OH is able to get a semen analysis for next week. Think once we get those results we will look at our options. We prob can't afford IVF, but hoping clomid treatment might be within budget if they think it would help.

Tink2019 · 18/06/2020 19:04

@Posy1 no problem 😊 I might have this completely wrong but they're prescribing me Clomid and I'm sure they said it'll just be a normal prescription cost - I must have that wrong!! We're trying not to think beyond that as like you said it's ridiculously expensive.

@DSC1 I forgot to say, try not to worry about AMH being lower than expected - apparently it's a bit of an arbitrary test because really what you need to know is the quality of the egg...it just takes one after all x

Tilly1403 · 18/06/2020 19:23

Hi @posy1 are you having those tests done privately? If so I think you can have all the tests done, they share them with your GP and your GP can use the results to inform whether to refer to NHS for fertility support. I spoke to my GP about costs of things like IVF of required and if referred by NHS you get one or two rounds free based on where you're living. But that's after they looked at all the options including medications and IUI if suitable

DSC1 · 18/06/2020 19:28

Thank you all for your kind messages, it really is great to have your support and I really appreciate it.

@Tink2019 I’m glad that so far all tests have been going well for you and fingers crossed everything is fine. Maybe this will be your month and you won’t even need anymore tests :) Yes I have heard that about AMH and also tell myself you only need the 1 egg.

@Posy1 it’s good that you are getting your tests done too. It’s all so expensive, I doubt we would go down the IVF route.

Posy1 · 18/06/2020 20:35

@Tilly1403 I'm getting the tests through my GP thankfully. We are unlikely to be able to afford IVF privately, but might consider other cheaper treatment like clomid. I know it can take ages to get an appointment with the NHS fertility clinic and I'm 40 so don't want to waste too much time. Have you had any blood tests or anything?

Plaw · 18/06/2020 20:44

@Bella330 Big congrats! Wishing you well!

I’m currently 6dpo and just want time to hurry up! It’s the waiting around for what may or may not be is the killer.

Tilly1403 · 18/06/2020 20:57

@Posy1 I've had blood tests via GP and private sperm analysis for my husband. Have you read up on the criteria in your area for NHS fertility treatment? I think in my area you get referred and they refer to some sort of maximum waiting time of 18 weeks (can't remember the exact details) so we're sort of doing both things, continuing to try naturally, getting some private tests done and asking GP to refer when we hit 12 months TTC. Have you spoken to your GP about waiting times and how it all works?

Tilly1403 · 18/06/2020 21:06

@Posy1 I've just had a look and it is a bit of a postcode lottery by all accounts. I spoke to my GP and he said they're working within the national waiting times where I am, but other places in the UK aren't. Argh it's so frustrating how these things aren't just straightforward. But anyway fingers crossed none of us will need that anyway. Sending you lots of luck on your baby journey!

KK251289 · 18/06/2020 23:20

@Twinkletoes85 yes it is the monopoly one, I cant believe how much was going on in the background! Thank you I'm hoping I wont be spending money for a while.

Wishing you all luck for those who are having tests x x keep us posted x

Mrskrd · 19/06/2020 08:00

I cannot believe how much I’ve missed in a week!!

Just sending you all the biggest hugs!

Hormones are an absolute b aren’t they!
I’m trying to balance them, I’ve given up coffee and alcohol... (seriously) I’m eating salads and all the veg (I’m vegan but honestly after reading everything was close to eating fish just incase it helped) 🤦‍♀️

I’ve been reading tonnes recently I’m due on in 5 days so I’m sure I’ll be sad again then but for now I feel good x

@Tink2019 I heard eating eggs wasn’t very good for pregnancy although I’ve been reading so much recently but check that out even though your doctor suggested it.

DSC1 · 19/06/2020 13:36

Hi ladies, hope everyone is doing well today.

I just booked an appointment to go and get a follicle count scan done on June 29th - that should tell me about my egg reserve. Feeling a lot better about moving things forward and feels good to have something booked in.

notyetamumbuttrying · 19/06/2020 14:04

Well done @DSC1! Best of luck! Is that through your gp or did you go private?
