Hey ladies!

Anyone with me ttc next month? I had my DS back in Feb 19 and we've now decided to try for baby #2.

I've been out and bought ovulation sticks, pregnancy tests and folic acid. I haven't been on Mumsnet in a long while and I've just checked the conception topic and I'm all excited again, it was such a great support platform for me the first time around!

Hey, yes I'm a similar boat! Had DS aug 18 and been breastfeeding him, he only feeds at night now and has for some months but my periods were super late returning & first cycle was37 days. This months bleed was a lot shorter though, 3 ish days instead of 6-7! And I'm now CD11 with ovulation symptoms - no pain but noticeably more discharge today watery/ewcm & feel a bit more frisky haha. Sorry tmi!!
We've dtd 4 days out of 5 so I'm hoping we'll catch the egg this month too!
But who knows, I think the more you read the more you worry don't you think!?
Did your periods return quite quickly after birth?

Are you using opk's? I've used them a couple of days & had a low reading yesterday but I think I drink too much & go to the toilet too often! I think they are quite subjective x

Dreaming101 · 31/05/2020 19:30

Hi ladies, 2nd month TTC (trying to conceive) our first baby. Was on the original June bus but seem to have lost the thread as I’ve been quiet for a week or so.
Stopped the pill in March and had the usual withdrawal bleed. Had my 1st natural period in April exactly when it was due to arrive but now this month nothing.. done 3 tests and all have been a BFN so feeling baffled. I originally thought it was because I changed brand of folic acid and have heard that can prolong cycles but after stopping that completely still nothing.
Do I call the dr for a check up or just wait and see what happens with regards to AF arriving? I was always regular before starting the pill about 5 years ago.
This TTC (trying to conceive) business is baffling

NurseMumtotwo · 31/05/2020 19:33

Hi ladies, I'm in the same boat:) been stalking mumsnet for a while. I'm 30, have ds (8) and dd (6). Had my coil out 15th may and currently waiting for AF to Appear so we can ttc #3 😊😊 xxx

Pebbleinthesand · 31/05/2020 19:48

Hoping to TTC this month but I still need to try and get my coil taken out. I dare not ask at the doctors for fear of being laughed at. I'm going to be brave and try and call tomorrow though.

TTC is also probably the only acromyn I know so might be a little slow to follow. What's OPK?

NurseMumtotwo · 31/05/2020 20:00

I phoned my Docters and just asked for it to be taken out and they saw me that day :) my GP was wearing full PPE but it wasn't a big deal! Definitely give them a call xxx

Newbie9 · 31/05/2020 20:34

Hope everyone is well tonight 😊

Dreaming101 hi 👋 I wouldn't worry about your periods just yet, the pill can mess things up a bit. I'd say they should be getting back to normal in the next couple of months. Bit defo ring your docs for advice if you are worried 😊

@pebbleinthesand opk is ovulation tests (LH test) id ring them I'm sure it'll be fine 😊

@nursemumtotwo good luck 😊 which could did you have?

What are you all doing about cycle tracking? I've also been tracking my temp every day, it's quite interesting but think it can be a bit all over if I've had a bad night with DS! Xx

Newbie9 · 31/05/2020 20:34

@Dreaming101 it didn't tag you properly in my last post x

Dreaming101 · 31/05/2020 20:58

Thank you @Newbie9 I think that’s what I wanted to hear🙈 I know deep down it will take a while for my body to go back to normal but can’t help wanting it to just all click into place straight away!

NurseMumtotwo · 31/05/2020 20:59

@newbiei had the Mirena coil, Never had it before when conceiving my first 2 so feel a bit unprepared with how long it will take for my cycles to cone back. I also have very long and unpredictable cycles ranging 35- 60 days 🙈

Trying to just relax and not think too much about TTC
Xx

Newbie9 · 31/05/2020 21:09

@NurseMumtotwo @Dreaming101
I was on the pill before I got pregnant with my son, I had a long first cycle but was lucky that I caught first time.
Not sure what's happening with my cycles now, I had a bit of ovulation type symptoms earlier but not much since
I feel like I need a window to the womb to see what's happening!! X

Pebbleinthesand · 31/05/2020 21:40

Definitely going to brave a call to the doctors to get my coil out tomorrow. Fingers crossed they'll say yes.

Never got into all the testing when I got pregnant with my daughter. We went with the not preventing, rather than actively trying with her and luckily got pregnant straight away.

How do you tag people? Also sorry if it's obvious I'm a Mumsnet lurker rather than poster usually 😂

JellyJean · 31/05/2020 22:03

Hi ladies, in a similar position here, had DS May 19 and just about to start ttc for baby #2 next cycle which will be early June. My periods returned in jan and are bang on 28 days usually, despite the fact im still breastfeeding DS a lot (trying to cut back but he wont have it yet, but that's for another thread!)
I've been taking folic acid too and have OPK to use as we found it helpful when ttc DS.
Im excited about ttc but also a little anxious with the currently situation, does anyone else feel the same? (We were going to start ttc in March but held off to see what happened and we feel its okay to now.) Pls ignore me if you don't want to talk about that here though. X

Newbie9 · 31/05/2020 22:07

@JellyJean Hiya I'm still bf too, hoping it doesn't hinder our chances. I think it can mess up ovulation & stuff occasionally but everyone is different

I know what you mean, times are strange & worrying aren't they
I'm not sure I'm put off but does make you think about ttc now x

Newbie9 · 31/05/2020 22:07

@Pebbleinthesand you put @ before the user name to tag someone x

JellyJean · 31/05/2020 22:13

@Newbie9 hey! Yes hopefully not but will just have to see i guess. I've had the ovulation symptoms the last cpl of cycles so fingers crossed. X

Dreaming101 · 31/05/2020 22:16

@Newbie9 did you use OPK when TTC your son? I’ve got some but worried I’m obsessing too early 🙈

@jellyjean I know what you mean, it definitely crossed my mind when I stopped taking the pill but figured it would take us a while to conceive so didn’t want to postpone any longer

Newbie9 · 31/05/2020 22:16

@JellyJean that's good, fingers firmly crossed x

eilvyre · 31/05/2020 22:21

Hi everyone!
I had my DD in June 2019 and we're starting TTC in June! I'm very excited but also very nervous as I had hyperemesis in my last pregnancy so I know how unwell I will likely be and obviously with the current situation as mentioned by a PP! But I do feel like that's starting to look a bit brighter now and it's great that people are starting to have their contraception removed.
Thankfully DH and I have only been using condoms since DD.
I can't wait to get back into it all, just waiting for AF to arrive so that we can get going! I'm just going to DTD every other day and track cervical mucus which is what I did last time whilst using the Flo app. We got pregnant first time round last time so I have no idea what to expect!
What was the previous TTC journey like for other mum's with DC already?
Good luck to all! Hopefully we can all keep each other positive and sane during this period! X

Pebbleinthesand · 01/06/2020 05:32

@JellyJean we were feeling the same about it being the right time with everything going on but I'm feeling more secure in my decision now that it's the right time for my family. I don't want to look back on this is years to come and regret letting it hold us back.

The only thing that worries me is that if I get pregnant I'm then technically in a vulnerable group and this could effect going back to work (I'm a teacher and due back next Monday). Has anyone else considered this or got a job that would impact this?

kate123cl · 01/06/2020 09:55

@eilvyre Wow, situations don't similar here! We got pregnant first time round last time too! Also only been using condoms since first DS was bornSmile

Hi @Newbie9 ! Definitely the more you read the more you worry. My periods returned to normal around 6 weeks after my cesarian and yes I'll be using OPKS. Started taking folic acid, too. Feels like years ago I was doing all of this last time! Good luck to you!Smile

Thanks for the responses everyone. Hopefully we can all keep each other going (and sane) through the journeySmile exciting times!

Pebbleinthesand · 01/06/2020 10:04

Just phoned the doctors and I was told they aren't doing coil removals at the moment and neither is the family planning clinic. They said they might be doing them again in a couple of months so not likely to actually be able to TTC this month at all 😔

kate123cl · 01/06/2020 10:50

Oh no @Pebbleinthesand that's really rubbish newsSad

Newbie9 · 01/06/2020 12:22

@eilvyre hiya Smile It's so exciting when you start planning!!

I've lost the plot with it I think& gone a bit crazy on vitamins etc! I had a really short luteal phase last month, common when bf so could be that, so I'm doing anything I can to help it along! I thought I was due to ovulate anything from today - weds but any symptoms I had yesterday have gone Confused
I've bought some clear blue advanced ovulation tests, had about an hour with no liquid so going to try and go another hour & see if it shows anything 🤞 x
