Hey ladies!

Anyone with me ttc next month? I had my DS back in Feb 19 and we've now decided to try for baby #2.

I've been out and bought ovulation sticks, pregnancy tests and folic acid. I haven't been on Mumsnet in a long while and I've just checked the conception topic and I'm all excited again, it was such a great support platform for me the first time around!

@Pebbleinthesand oh im sorry to hear that, must be disappointing when you were hoping to get going with it all. Hopefully they might start things up sooner if things continue to improve.

@eilvyre hi! Fingers crossed the hyperemesis was unique to your last pregnancy and it might be different with this next one, I've had friends who only suffered with one of their pregnancies. Last time ttc for us was successful first time too and we've also just been using condoms since.

@Newbie9 hope the new ovulation tests you've brought help!

X

Hi all,
I've been stalking mums net for a while and feel it's right to join in now Smile
This is my first proper month TTC my first. I find myself reading up so much about it all, I feel it's a degree in itself haha.
AF arrived on 24th May, so I'm currently on CD9. I've not had a full cycle yet as I don't know how long they are, but I'm thinking I'm going to go with the average 28days. I've bought some cheap OPKs from amazon and I have just started to use them. Although like someone else mentioned I like to drink of water a lot so it's a bit tricky. But will give them ago. I've read up about the SMEP which I think we will try this month and see what happens. Anyone else tried this?

Clover1211 · 01/06/2020 18:24

Hi all,

Been reading through some threads for a while but now seems like the perfect time to stop stalking and start joining in! My partner and I are about to begin TCC #1 (started casually last month but with little success - used OPKs but nothing else).

Slightly worried as I only came off the pill in February and i've only had two natural AFs since that ... my cycle is long! Currently on day 35 (and counting!) My last one was 38 and the one before was 41Confused I'm hoping it's just my body sorting itself out after 15 years on the pill! Though I seem to recall having a 35 (ish) day cycle when I was a teenager...

Anyway, just waiting for AF any day now so I can reset the cycle. Deff not pregnant as did a test this morning and it was a sparkling, gleaming, in-your-face, bright, white negative! Not too disappointed though as we didn't really expect anything this time. So it would be lovely to have some moral support from others who are at roughly the same stage in their journey!! :)

Wishing luck to everyone!Smile Hopefully June will be an exciting month!!

Newbie9 · 01/06/2020 19:09

Hi all
Hope you've enjoyed the sunny day Smile
So I tried a clear blue ov test but it was negative, I didn't really limit my water intake or hold my wee so going to do what it says & try first thing in the morning.
I've done a few other opks over last few days under similar circumstances & they've been a very faint line. It's so contradicting as I had to have a scan last Tuesday & it looked like I had a follicle growing & getting ready for ovulation probably by now.

I'm trying not to obsess over everything but it's getting that way Sad

@kate123cl thank you, good luck too

kate123cl · 01/06/2020 20:41

Hi @Clover1211! As you said, it's probably just your body regulating itself againSmile

My AF came today and just read that yours is due any day so seems we're quite similar with timings, although according to the Flo app, my cycle length on average is 26days! They were about 32 before I had my firstSmile.

@Clover1211 my cycles were quite long after the pill a few years ago, 40 odd days but it did settle quickly. Are you charting your symptoms through the month? You might see a pattern emerging
I'm taking my temp every morning which is quite a good way to see when you've ovulated etc x

PabsyPops · 01/06/2020 22:02

Hi everyone! I hope you don't mind if I join in? I'm TTC 1st baby and have been off contraception since October last year. My DH and I haven't been actively trying but this month we are putting a bit more effort in Wink currently testing ovulation with clear blue as cheapies were never any good for me! Xx

Newbie9 · 01/06/2020 22:09

@PabsyPops hi 👋
Have you started using the ovulation tests yet? I'm not having loads of success haha x

PabsyPops · 01/06/2020 22:14

@Newbie9 the cheap ones were rubbish for me and over the last few months I never saw a line to say I was ovulating so I got a bit worried! I decided to buy the clear blue one and so far I've had the flashing smiley face for the last two days which has made me feel a million times better! Just waiting for the solid smiley now! Which ones have you been using?

Dreaming101 · 01/06/2020 22:32

So a friend of mine says she she didn’t get her BFP until she was 7 weeks pregnant. A friend of a friend said she was 8 weeks when she got her first BFP. Has anyone heard of this before? It’s now got my hopes up that I could be pregnant and it’s not just the pill still messing with me.

Blossom428 · 01/06/2020 22:50

@PabsyPops yeah I've Just started using the cheap OPKs but I'm not sure how good they will be as I've read mixed reviews. Figured I would start on these for my first proper cycle, and if no luck then get the clear blue ones. I took a test today and there was no other line, so think I will keep going untill I get one (if I get one).

I'm trying to track BBT aswell, but this doesn't show up untill you've actually ovulated does it?
TTC £s start adding up, all these OPKs and pregnancy tests.
I'm trying to keep a positive mind and doing things to keep my mind busy. I've got so many friends that are pregnant right now, I hope it happens soon 🤞🏽

Dreaming101 · 01/06/2020 23:01

@Blossom428 it took me a while to notice the lines on the cheap OPK’s. I read mine between 5 and 7 minutes and now know what I’m looking for after a long 49 days of testing. I use the easy@home ones from amazon and and the Premom app

Clover1211 · 01/06/2020 23:03

@kate123cl yep still waiting for AF but I am in quite a lot of discomfort tonight so hopefully tonight or tomorrow. Fingers crossed for your new cycle Smile

@Newbie9 yes I am starting to track properly as soon as this new cycle starts. Looking forward to seeing what I learn from it ... slightly nervous too! Oh good, glad to hear that your body adjusted to life post-pill quickly. This will be my 3rd cycle off it now so fingers crossed it'll be a bit more predictable soon!! Got my thermometer ready for the good old BBT chart.

Going to stay positive this month... and hopefully end positive too for us! Smile

kate123cl · 01/06/2020 23:07

@Dreaming101 It IS possible! With my first I tested a day before AF was due and had a positive test. I think there's loads of stories similar to your friends! Keep positiveSmile

Dreaming101 · 01/06/2020 23:16

@kate123cl ahhh i will keep my fingers and toes crossed for a BFP one day soon. Not feeling convinced that I am the lucky though!

Newbie9 · 02/06/2020 08:35

@pabsypops I'm now using the clear blue advanced ones, was trying fermometer ones which go with the app. No lines at all apart from very faint. I'm rubbish at holding my wee though so thought clear blue might be good as it's morning. I thought I'd be due to ovulate soon but negative this morning Confused

@blossom428 that's right you'll see a rise in body temp after ovulation x

kate123cl · 02/06/2020 08:56

When I conceived my last I used the pound shop ovulation tests so just bought the same for this time around!

Yeah. 2 apps (fertility friend and Flo) both say I'm due to O on Saturday. But that's just going off a 28day cycle, so not sure if it will be correct yet. Hopefully it won't be a long cycle. Are there any physical symptoms that lead up to O, other than increase CM and the consistency?

kate123cl · 02/06/2020 09:27

@Blossom428 Not sure about anyone else but I get horrendous pains! Worse than AF.

Hello everyone! Hope you don't mind me joining you all TTC in June. We are trying for our second after our son being born in October 2018 and put off trying for our second since as we were meant to travel to Canada this summer for my brothers wedding (didn't want to be heavily pregnant or a tiny newborn) but now that's not happening this year and we've decided life is too short! Aunt Flo arrived yesterday and I've regular cycles since my period came back over a year ago. The weeks seem to fly by with a toddler but I already feel like June is going to drag with the excitement of what might be!

Newbie9 · 02/06/2020 09:36

@Running365 hiya! Our boys are a similar age! Mine is 2 in August, he is non stop!
Good luck to you x

Running365 · 02/06/2020 09:49

@Newbie9 such a lovely age but also such a lively age! I can't imagine how I'll cope with the pregnancy exhaustion this time round but enough people do it and survive!

Newbie9 · 02/06/2020 10:01

@Running365 so true! He literally does not stop haha!

Newbie9 · 02/06/2020 10:04

I've just read a really interesting article that's made me feel a bit better, I'm still breastfeeding my 22 month old at night. I'd like to wean but he's got other ideas 🤣
My periods took forever to come back & cycles are long, 37 odd days. This month I thought I should be ovulating by now and worrying about why it's so late but this article states it's quite normal as I have a drop in oestrogen due to feeding so takes longer to mature the egg.

How many cycles would you try like this before weaning?! I really would like to before 2 years If possible. X

Running365 · 02/06/2020 10:12

I suppose keep tracking ovulation for a few months and see if you can identify a pattern. Like you say, breastfeeding shouldn't prevent you from falling pregnant. My DS self weaned from breastfeeding in December so I've not had to make a conscious decision to stop but if you feel like it's the barrier and you're ready to stop then I'm sure he still young enough not to remember a few unsettled nights of daddy being the only option for cuddles...
