Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

Helloo!!! How is everyone doing?

fifi1989 · 26/04/2020 17:38

I'm currently on CD23 with no positive OPKs yet. So bored of waiting for it! :) Usually get a positive around day 25/26 so hopefully wont have to wait for much longer this cycle. I started temping yesterday for the first time. Is anyone else finding this helpful?

I've been having some weird cramps/back ache throughout my cycle this month. I suspect that I might have PCOS (not just based on this), so have been trying to be better with diet and exercise. A friend of mine got pregnant with PCOS last year but it took them 2,5 years to conceive.. they're both super healthy/fit doctors too. That thought really stresses me out!

How is everyone else?

Hi!
All good here. This is my first cycle off the pill now TTC DC2, trying a bit tentatively at first though as I’m currently furloughed so ideally want to wait until I’m back at work and as confident as I can be my job is safe! I’m fairly sure it will be fine and all correspondence from work has been very positive but just want to be sure!
So I’m planning on just having the next couple of months to let my cycle sort it’s self back out and see where I’m at with things then will be aiming to start TTC seriously from June/July time!
@fifi1989 I have never done temping so haven’t got any advice really, from my understanding you have to be quite strict with making sure you can do it as soon as you wake up for it to be accurate? I just used OPKs and monitoring my CM.

wannabe123 · 26/04/2020 21:44

Hi, hope I can join. My last cycle was 50 days. I came off the pill in January after being on it for 9 years. I hope it will sort itself out soon. I'm going to try OPKs this month to try and get a better idea of what is going on. I've had lots of friends who have been on the pill for a similar length of time and had no problems coming off so I'm hoping I will sort out soon!

Runnergirl1 · 27/04/2020 13:16

@fifi1989 I’m in the same boat as you currently cd24 and all negative OPKs so far. I’m sick of waiting now, still DTD just incase but longest wait ever it seems. This is our first month trying and it’s driving me mad already x

Lauren1288 · 27/04/2020 16:03

Yay, I'm glad I've found a chain for us long cycled women!

I'm on my first month TTC with baby #1. Had my implant out in January and have had 2 periods since with a cycle length of 40 days 😩 even before having the implant I always had long cycles. I'm approaching day 40 for this cycle however been using OPKs this month and only 5 DPO so this is going to be a longer cycle.

I was taking the convince plus vitamins but have stopped them last week as I read up about them extending your cycle so I quickly stopped taking them.

Happy baby making ladies!

Runnergirl1 · 27/04/2020 18:34

This is my first month trying for baby number one too @Lauren1288. So where you on cd35 when you ovulated? When where you doing your OPKs from? I’m sick of doing them and getting very negative results

fifi1989 · 28/04/2020 13:46

CD25 here.. Looks like something might be about to happen. The second line only appeared after a few mins though. When I've had peak OPKs in the past I usually get a blazing positive within the first 30 seconds (second pic from March cycle). Will test again this eve and tomorrow. I reckon it'll be another day or two still... more waiting.

I've not had much success with temping so far. Keep forgetting about it! Ha.

Feeling slightly awkward about posting a photo of these... something I peed on Grin But here we go...

Hope everyone is doing well.

Runnergirl1 · 28/04/2020 14:27

@fifi1989 that looks like it’s getting there. That’s an amazing one from March do they gradually get darker or can it just shoot up all of a sudden. Mine are still nowhere near even that darkness but I am also on cd 25

fifi1989 · 28/04/2020 14:43

@Runnergirl1 they tend to gradually get darker and then I get ones like the test from March for 1-2 days. I do also get some dark-ish tests at random times during my cycle, but none as dark as that (or even as dark as the one from today).
I was so shocked the first time I had a peak OPK. Honestly didn't think I was ever going to get one. I guess it doesn't necessarily confirm ovulation, but I do tend to get them on the same day(s) of each cycle.

Also, I tend to use the 'wide width' cheap OPKs from Amazon - www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001G7P62S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?psc=1&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&ie=UTF8

Never really got a proper reading on the regular ones (not sure what that means!) - but will try and use both types over the next few days and see if I get a peak on both of them.

Runnergirl1 · 28/04/2020 14:52

@fifi1989 I think they are the ones I have. I also got the cb ovulation sticks but they are so expensive I will only really use them once I get anything other than a squint your eyes to see it line. I feel abit like that at the minute though ie not getting a peak but guess we will see. I have a few apps and they all say my af is due 12th but all different ovulation days. One being yesterday, one today and one Friday. I’m hoping and praying for Friday as it hasn’t been the first two lol x

fifi1989 · 28/04/2020 15:15

@Runnergirl1 I've haven't tried the CB ones but might order them for next cycle - so expensive! I've heard of several people who never got a positive OPK and still managed to get pregnant though, so I wouldn't worry too much about that specifically... although I know how annoying waiting for a positive is!! I'm still not sure that I'm actually ovulating, so will need a second method to confirm for next cycle for sure.
I'm using the Flo and Clue apps (and Femometer but just for the OPK photos) and I find that if I am really meticulous with entering my data every day, Clue is the best at predicting OV and AF. I also find the random advice on Flo a bit annoying!

Runnergirl1 · 28/04/2020 15:44

@fifi1989. I just feel with the ch ones a smiley face is all you need rather than looking at lines but yes very very expensive. I use Flo but that was miles out saying I should of ovulated last week. I might try Clue, I’ll try anything to try and link things together

fifi1989 · 29/04/2020 09:54

I caved in yesterday and bought the CB sticks.. Got a smiley face on one just before bed last night so at least that's something! Cheap OPK looks positive too.

When do you all normally DTD once you've had a positive test? I've seen everything from 5 days before til 3 days after suggested. We DTD last night after the positive test but wondering if we should go again over the next few days (as in this eve, tomorrow and maybe Friday too)??

Runnergirl1 · 29/04/2020 11:02

Wow smiley face straight away that’s brilliant. Fingers crossed for you. I’ve read good things about SMEP have a read of that. This is my first month and still no positive for me so can’t really give much advice there.

LV1987 · 29/04/2020 15:56

Hi

It's nice to see a longer cycles thread!

I came off the pill in December last year, having been on it for about 7 years this time around. We are TTC our #1, but I am also step mummy to two boys.

I had a stint off the pill roughly 11 years ago - my cycles were really irregular at first, but levelled out at around 36 days. Since coming off this time around, I have had 44, 38 and 36 days.

I'm currently CD22 of cycle 4, and I've tried Clear Blue digital OPKs... Mainly as we keep missing ovulation because we've run out of steam by then! Last month, my app says I ovulated on CD23 but I'm still on flashy smileys, and have been for 12 days now!

Hoping to be in the TWW after tomorrow, but my biggest headache at the moment is working out whether I am waiting for ovulation or AF 😂🤔

Runnergirl1 · 29/04/2020 16:02

@LV1987 I’m the same as you wondering wether I’m waiting to ovulate or af. It’s so frustrating. I had OPKs of 30 which is classed as high but out of 100 I think it’s pretty low. And wondering if that was my ‘peak’. According to one app I should be ovulating Friday but OPKs are still reading 0. So who knows. I’m cd26 x

LV1987 · 29/04/2020 16:33

Incredibly frustrating! I've been super crampy for the last few days, I'm hoping that's ovulation coming as opposed to AF, as if I have somehow managed a shorter cycle this month, we definitely missed ovulation 🤦‍♀️ I'm thinking it will be at least a 38 dayer though. I hate that I don't get 12 tries a year, humph.

Pol96 · 29/04/2020 16:41

Hi, mind if I join?
My cycles aren't very regular (last 3 were 43, 37, 47) were currently ttc #1
I'm tracking bbt (I know I ovulated last cycle but not entirely sure when as opks - got a high the day they arrived-and thermometer arrived potentially right at the end of ovulation)
Nice to see I'm not alone with irregular cycles..

Runnergirl1 · 29/04/2020 16:53

@LV1987 fingers crossed it’s your ovulation and not awful af. I know what you mean. We just have to make the most of it when we can.

@pol96 welcome. Mine have been all over too last three have been 29, 38 and 46. Currently 26 and no sign of ovulation.

Elmlee · 29/04/2020 16:54

Hey Ladies,
Lovely to see a long cycle thread. Mines been worrying me. I do a bit more normal though having reading through this thread.

I'm currently on CD41... my last cycle before this was 26, the one before was 49 then before that 40.

Been off the pill since November 2019. Been actively trying since December. Starting to feel slightly down hearted but just plodding on. Just nice to feel not alone.

Had really sore nipples, feeling sick... feeling boiling. Think my flo will be here anytime...

Pol96 · 29/04/2020 16:59

@Runnergirl1
It's reassuring to see its not just you isn't it? I've been doing opks since cd9 and nothing positive.. Had a couple of very low highs (tracking on femometer app) currently only cd14 so could have a long time to go before positive opk.
Being furloughed as well atm so constantly thinking about it all Sad as have nothing else to do

Runnergirl1 · 29/04/2020 17:03

@Elmlee - welcome. You are not alone. Flo might be on its way?? Don’t rule out pregnancy - stay positive

Runnergirl1 · 29/04/2020 17:06

@Pol96. Yeah I track on there too hence why I have been wondering if the 30one was my ‘peak’. Luckily we have been DTD every other day so hopefully will have managed around ovulation if it’s been but who knows. I’ve been doing OPKs from cd10. Thankfully over been using cheap ones. I’ve got a cb ovulation kit too but won’t use that until I get a high reading on Femometer x

Pol96 · 29/04/2020 17:09

@Runnergirl1 yeah it is really hard to tell with them. Glad I'm temping though as at least I'll know afterwards. We're dtd every other day too just to cover ourselves and also using cheap opks, got some more coming tomorrow so I don't run out if it's a really long cycle!
