Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

AF on CD39 this month.. came on the morning of my birthday as well - perfect Grin Sad

I just saw this on reddit on reddit:

www.reddit.com/r/TryingForABaby/comments/fwb825/psa_long_regular_cycles_irregular_andor_if_you/

Would be interesting to hear your thoughts. Have you also been told by your GP/other docs or specialists that regular long cycles are 'abnormal' or 'too long'?

hollywhooo · 07/04/2020 17:59

Ah sorry to hear AF has arrived! (won’t let me tag you for some reason)
I’ve been referred for further testing however my cycles are both long & irregular. Had a scan last year and they couldn’t find anything obvious. My referral should be through any day but obviously expecting a delay now.

I thought my cycles were regulating, the last 2 were less than 50 days, but i’m on CD54 now with no signs bar some cramping on and off 🤷🏼‍♀️ the confusion continues haha

@Fisher1008 i have my fingers crossed for you :)

Hayleylou89 · 07/04/2020 18:08

@Hayleylou89 wooooohooooo. Exciting times!

Hayleylou89 · 08/04/2020 11:45

@hollywhooo I know hope the hubby isnt too tired from all the dtd weve been doing just incase i had missed it (oops) x x

hollywhooo · 08/04/2020 15:36

@Hayleylou89 just re read your message from this morning...so the OPK is from the same time as your peak Clearblue?
I’ve only ever used OPKs and I find them so frustrating with the long cycles as it takes an age to get the result you want.
I’ve only ever had one really positive last cycle (attached)
Would you recommend the Clearblue? Just not sure how it would with cycles of 50 odd days??

I think my periods just not turning up? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m going to act as if it’s just been and gone & treat this as a new cycle

Hi 👋 Im in the same boat too! I have long cycles ranging from 35-87 and the longest 4 months, currently ttc since February when I had my last period and have been trying since... One negative test later (2/3 weeks ago) and still no AF...

Hayleylou89 · 08/04/2020 23:18

@hollywhooo I would recommend them however i started testing way too early so used way more than i needed too. If you start testing as close to what ur app tells u too ull be fine x clear blue connect comes with an app so it syncs results to ur phone it is good just quite expensive but if i get pregnant it was worth the investment 🙏 x

Hayleylou89 · 10/04/2020 11:51

How are u getting on @hollywhooo x

hollywhooo · 10/04/2020 11:59

No changes with me @Hayleylou89
I’m on CD 57 now, no sign of anything other than a horrendous migraine today but I suffer with migraines regularly.
I think i may try the Clearblue next cycle if AF ever arrives.
Are you okay?

Fisher1008 · 10/04/2020 13:17

So AF came today, it’s late according to my Clue App but right on time according to Natural Cycles which I’m happy about. My cycle was 34 days this month, we missed ovulation by a few days (we only decided to start trying about 3 weeks ago). I’m feeling super optimistic about this month, knowing when I’m going to ovulate and the weather is getting better so I’m feeling happier.

Do people use OPK’s some have suggested they become quite stressful? Is it better just to DTD every other day for that fertile window? I’m not sure if know my ovulation day will make me a little crazy in the TWW.

Baby dust you everyone back to CD 1 Smile

xoJellyBean · 11/04/2020 19:04

Hey again girls, do any of you get ovulation symptoms? I had a period three weeks ago and since Wednesday I have had such sore nipples and boobs, soo tired, moody & emotional. We are dtd most days just incase it is ovulation. Hope you are all staying safe! X

Hi ladies,

Do you mind if I join you? My cycles are normally 34 day’s long and this month I have finally come in today which means I had a 47 day cycle!! So that’s totally thrown me. I’m not due to ovulate (going by my normal 34 day cycle) until 2nd May! So would love some people to talk to along the way :)

Fisher1008 · 11/04/2020 22:23

@hollywhooo I may the clear blue ovulation sticks, which ones do you use there seems to be a few different types.

Is it the advanced digital ovulation? I seem to get high OPKs for well over a week so never know my peak.

doublecheeseburgermediumfries · 11/04/2020 22:58

Hi everyone!

Just been reading through the thread and it's nice to find a thread where you know how everyone is feeling!

I am 27 and we have just bought a house and hoping to start our family to fill it!

My last 3 cycles were 36 days / 46 days and the last one was 43 days. My period finished on Thursday so we will start DTD every few days. I have no idea when I ovulate I haven't used OPKs before or tempted 😬

hollywhooo · 12/04/2020 10:41

I just use the cheapy amazon ones but have nearly run out and don’t think i’ll buy anymore will just DTD regularly instead.

@xoJellyBean well last cycle I had definite ovulation pain but i thought i had it again this cycle but AF never appeared so god knows 🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t trust my body anymore lol

Welcome @doublecheeseburgermediumfries wishing you all the luck! I’m 27 too :)

Blueberry001 · 12/04/2020 16:05

Hi Ladies,

Can I join? Came off the pill Dec 2018 but we’ve been using condoms and avoiding the fertile window! My cycles have been horrendous since coming off the pill (on it for 14 years!) anything from 35 - 55 days but I think they are finally starting to settle now, but they are still quite long 33-36 days average.

We’ve decided now to see what happens, I’m 32 hubby is 37, id have waited another couple of years but he doesn’t want to be an ‘older’ dad.

I’m currently on CD8 and I just don’t want to get obsessed with it all, but I know I probably will now we’ve decided to see what happens! 🙈 for now I don’t want to use Ovulation sticks I’m just hoping my Flo app is somewhat right?! If not I think my plan will be just have regular sex (hubby will be pleased!) Hope you are all doing well over Easter break! X

Fisher1008 · 15/04/2020 10:46

How is everyone doing? Hi @Blueberry001 will this be your first cycle?

This will be my ‘proper’ first cycle too, I’ve been using Natural Cycles to prevent pregnancy for a few years so it seems to know my cycle quite well (even though I’ve been a bit rubbish inputting recently).

Once we decided to conceive I had just missed my ovulation day probably by 2 date Sad. Anyway I’m on CD6 now and finding the wait to fertile window longggg never mind the TWW after.

Hope everyone had a lovely Easter! Has anyone tried SMEP? X

hollywhooo · 15/04/2020 17:43

Hey. I ordered some pregnancy tests which arrived yesterday. Did one today as i’m on CD 62 but obviously BFN.
I’m absolutely convinced i’ve got ovulation pains today (run out of OPKs so haven’t been checking) if i’m right that will mean a 76 day cycle. Literally feels like it will never happen for me at the moment.
Has anybody tried agnus castus? Read loads about it regulating periods but also read some threads that you should consult your doctor before taking it and don’t want to bother them with everything going on.

Hope everyone is okay & keeping safe xx

runnerttc · 16/04/2020 07:00

Hey, so I know its probably a coincidence but yesterday my Angus Catus order arrived and literally woke up this morning with AF after a 45 day cycle. I had been taking it before as my cycles were ridiculous after coming off the pill, I even had one 84 day which had me convinced my body was completely broken. Anyway I started using Angus Cactus and I dont know if it was the only factor but my cycles went down to32 days and one 28 day, after about 4 or 5 of these I figured Angus Cactus that I was getting was a bit expensive long term (£18 a bottle) so I ordered some cheaper stuff. Dumb I know but I didn't really look at the ingredients difference. So anyway after this cycle seemed to be taking forever I looked at the other stuff i was taking was 1000 measurements per tab and the cheap ones were only 400.
Like I said might just be a coincidence but at this point in TCC I'll take the little wins.
Oh and I also bought a bottle of Inositol, I've read lots about it helping regulate ovulation and periods, mainly for girls with PCOS which I dont have but I figured why not lol.
Sorry for the super rambling post but just thought I would share in case it helps someone else x

hollywhooo · 16/04/2020 07:23

Amazing thank you @runnerttc
So you took 1 dose of 1000mg a day is it? I’ve ordered some now i think they are 400mg but i’ll just take 2 a day. I’m desperate to try and regulate things a bit x

runnerttc · 16/04/2020 07:41

No it's two a day, so on the more expensive stuff thats 2000 (I have no idea what they're actually measured in lol) but the stronger dose does make a difference I think. I also get bad skin and have done for years, the stronger dose also cleared up my skin almost completely. Wish I never went to a lower dose now! Have a look at the Inositol stuff too, might help aswell x

OpticVA · 16/04/2020 18:37

Hi 👋
I have long cycles too! Took 20 months to conceive DD and I’m just gearing up to start TTC number 2. Cycles range anywhere between 34-37 days but I randomly sometimes have a killer 60+ day cycle. I had investigations done when TTC DD and nothing physically wrong but I have a hormone imbalance which explains the long cycles. Sending best wishes to all!
