ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full

I hope nobody minds me adding a new thread, but the other wouldn't let me reply.

LadyLush - Sorry to hear about your loss . In answer to your question, I thought I was around 11-12 weeks pg, but the scan said the baby was around 8-9 weeks. When I'd had the ERPC, the gynae reg said the uterus was around 14weeks and the baby was still 8-9 weeks.
I'm sure things do get better with time, but things are still pretty raw and new for me. I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you (and hopefully for others too).

Hi WMMC - sorry to see you on here. I also had a missed miscarriage and had the EPRC 10 days ago (im from the march thread too). I think you recover physically much quicker than emotionally.

Emotionally i am feeling alot better than 10 days ago but still falling apart at least once a day. It is a terrible shock and bereavement (all those hopes and dreams) and i think it is important to let yourself and your DH grieve. You also still have all those pregnancy hormones rushing about which can make you feel a bit crazy.

Things will get better slowly. My midwife told me it was ok to TTC anytime after bleeding from EPRC stopped - but if you want to be sure about dates wait for a period.

My 2 bits of advice

  1. bleeding from EPRC can be haphazard - seems to stop then starts again.
  2. Drink lots of wine

have officially started ttc again I know they like you to wait for dates but they usually change your date at a scan anyway as first day of last period is only approx they don't actually know when you ovulate and not everyone has a 28 days cycle do they?

Hey Lcy - I am good today, sorry you are here. I had my D&C in March and all I can say is things do get better! It just takes time, there were times when I was distraught and thinking life was never going to get better, but it does.

Dare I say it - I don't even really care now whether I get PG again or not soon. It will happen one day...

Sweetkitty, no there is no need to wait for a period in terms of dating, but when was your mc? And how far along were you? You have to give your body time to recover, and get rid of all the hormones. My advice to anyone is to forget about ttc until after you have had your first period after your mc. Enotionally you will be much better off too.

Oh Lcy, hi - how are you? Silly question, I know.
Like you said, physically I'm absolutely fine. Even the bleeding is minimal. I do feel as though I'm going a bit potty though - fine one minute, and on the verge of tears for no apparent reason the next minute. I think I need to have a good drink and a cry with dh tonight. We've got about 50 bottles of wine in the cellar so we've have got that covered . I have to remember that ds (16mo) will be expecting a coherent, competent mother in the morning (well, he can live in hope can't he? ), so I shall have go easy on the vino.

We've been told to wait for at least one cycle before ttc. Don't know if we'll wait that long tbh. My dates seem to have been a bit off anyway, so not really worried about that aspect of ttc.

Anyway, back to normailty and the supermarket run. Take care.

well what a night! ds was really poorly last night and woke up struggling to breathe and v wheezy, called 999 and ended up in A&E. never been so scared in my life! today, out come the spots (i think) so looks like it is CP. decided tho to NATTC (not avoid ttc) and just see what happens this month and start properly in oct when we see the consultant, so im back on the ttc boards!

WMMC - similar story here as pregnancy was 12 weeks but baby measured only 8 weeks. I had this problem before with a previous m/c - baby measuring 3 weeks smaller.

winemakesmummyclever - sorry I didn't realise you had had a mc, you were on the Due in March 2008 thread too, theres far too many of us from that thread had mcs

nh101 - my mc was 2 1/2 weeks ago bleeding stopped a few days ago, baby was 6 weeks had mc at 10 weeks. I wouldn't say we are actively ttc just having unprotected sex if that makes sense? I fully expect AF to turn up this month.

lissielou - sorry to head about your DS's CP hope he feels better soon, how scary for you too

Well, I'm back from the shopping run and have bought myself some treats to go with the wine. I have also arranged to go out for cake with a mate tomorrow - not really concerned with the size of my hips right now.

Hi Sweetkitty - yes, there are far too many of us from the March thread on this thread now. Dh and I are just trying to be philosophical. We know that it was nothing that I/we did or didn't do. It just wasn't meant to be. We're also getting great comfort from our ds. He's far too young to know what's been going on, but just the fact that he's here and healthy and fine is healing in itself.

sorry for confusing you sweetkitty. i was lissielou a while back then bought lissie in the nickname auction, just feel that lissielou suits me better. agree that there are too many women from the march thread, but hopefully we'll all be on the same antenatal thread again soon! im aiming for due in july

poor ds has no voice at all and the first 2 spots have appeared.

Hello all

I have just got back from the hospital - had a scan to check D&C was complete. It was all fine and hardly any blood left.

Like you sweetkitty and WMMC i am not waiting till period but not going to go into crazy TTC mode - using contraception would be so wierd now. However, i totally understand that some people wouldnt want to do this NH101 - it is such a personal decision.

LissieLou sorry to hear about the CP - what a scary night for you. Hope DS is ok now - probably very itchy!

I am going to a friends house for a girls only night - we are going to eat mexican, drink wine, eat chocolate in large quantities and then watch sex and the city while putting the world to rights. Cant wait

oh lcy, you must be so relieved. after all of my mc's we carried on ttc but your body will be messed up for quite a while tho.

lissielou - doesn't take much to confuse me

Lcy - the scan is like a bit of closure isn't it? I had a bit of a clot left and it came away the next day so everything has stopped now.

WMMC - yes it is strange theres been so many mcs from that thread can't remember any from my last 2 antenatal threads. I said the exact same thing with mine it wasn't meant to be and the DDs keep me going. Most of the time I'm fine but now and again I get down and a bit angry with the world.

Due in July sounds good to me I was so keen to have a March baby but now I would have one born anytime even Christmas Day. DD1 is a July baby she was meant to be August but had other ideas.

the same thing happened on my old due in oct thread. with each pg i tell myself not join any thread til i reach at least 9w but can never resist (no willpower at all) ds is an april baby so will be nice to have a few months between them. (lissie wonders why she's still optimistic)

Hello ladies,

I'm feeling so miserable today. On one hand I feel desperate to get pregnant again and I am putting myself under alot of pressure, I'm already getting stressed about the thought of not having sex on the right days and I'm only cd5! On the other hand I know it's too soon and the thought of having a cervical suture so soon after the last one makes me feel very sad as I should still be pregnant. I'm sure it's normal to have mixed feelings like this but it doesn't make it any easier.

I hope you are getting the comfort and space you need right now . . .
I was lucky and stopped bleeding almost immediately afterwards so started b/d one week later. no ttc but just getting back to normal.

lcy, glad everything went well today. i felt quite good after getting the all clear.
i mean, its really sad, but i feel like can move on from the physical trauma of the whole m/c thing.
