Despite my TTC last month, it resulted in my AF arriving Christmas Day (deep joy!) it's round 2 this month! I'm due to ovulate on Monday (6th) so anyone else wanna join me, with the overthinking, being excessively paranoid, mystery pregnancy signs and taking PT's when you know you shouldn't be! 🤣🤣
Feel free to jump on the crazy train with me!

I’m wondering if it is any benefit to me to take a CB OPK every day? Or around the days my app (Apple Health) predicts my ovulation?

I'm no expert, but when I came off the pill I just DTD literally every other day at minimum. If you can do that there's no need to waste your money on OPKs because you'll do it at the right time anyway.

BecauseReasons · 04/01/2020 05:48

Good luck @Geauxtigers. I think What to Expect has a pre-conception section at the front- maybe get him to read that?

Maidmummy · 04/01/2020 07:42

I'll second the opks being a waste of money just relax DTD every couple of days and hopefully that's enough, I only do opks if the relaxed approach doesn't work or I'm paranoid we aren't doing it on the right days as my O date can differ every month but it's rare I'll use them x

Maidmummy · 04/01/2020 07:49

Anyway how's everyone getting on this morning. I'm seriously confused I should be 3dpo but last night I had some major pain right around both ovaries so I'm now thinking was the egg released last night 🤔 and I'm now 1dpo either way we DTD just in case 😂 and it would tie in with the O spotting I had Cd15 and 16 that 24 hours later I'm in pain but I suppose time will tell hopefully x

MrsD1990 · 04/01/2020 10:04

Really good to hear everyone's approaches. I'm new to this and not planning on buying opks just DTD every other day so good to hear others are doing the same.

Right now I have a horrible cold and af is here (should be done in next few days). Can't wait to be healthy and af to finish so I can get back to DTD.

Reading this has made me feel so much more sane! Smile
Been on various hormonal contraceptives for the last 20 years, had to come off everything due to some health problems (all resolved now) and myself and OH have decided to TTC for 2 years (I am 33) and hope we are successful.
I was one that also thought it would be simple 🙈😂 symptom spotting and an addiction to POAS all underway here!
Also seem to can't help but jumping the gun and worrying about future issues, how early do you tell people? I work in a reasonably high risk job, so there will be certain tasks I simply cannot do, so feel it would be safer to tell work and colleagues before 12 weeks, is this the done thing?
All rather exciting and just trying to enjoy the experience!

FarmerWantsABaby · 04/01/2020 10:59

So I was told by a friend that taking Co Enzyme Q10 and VitalDHA for pre-conception might increase chances of conception? I don’t know the truth in this however I did do some research (ie Google because I’m clearly so medically informed) and they have good reviews? Anyone else ever heard of these?

Maidmummy · 04/01/2020 11:32

All those doing the gender ring test how about when we do get pregnant we come back to this thread and update if it's right or not x

Hopefully not as I'm predicted twin boys next 😂 x

Not sure which are the best vitamins to take but zinc was recommended for both me and my partner,to improve sperm and egg quality and production

sojo44 · 04/01/2020 12:17

Hi ladies, sending baby dust to everyone! Come on 2020!!

I'm CD 21, either 4 days DPO (based on OPK) or due to ovulate in 1.5 weeks (based on cycle length) 😂 trying to temp this cycle and the OPK could be correct for once, who knows 🤷‍♀️ so just waiting and seeing.

I've got abnormally sensitive and hard nips this cycle though, does anyone get this after OV? It's becoming a running joke with DH now. Maybe it means I've actually ovulated (rather than trying to OV unsuccessfully) and the progesterone hormones have actually kicked in for once.

FarmerWantsABaby · 04/01/2020 13:27

@debbs77 yes I have heard zinc too 🤔 I’ve been taking folic acid since I came off the pill but I might look into zinc.
Just had another baby announcement from a close friend today. It’s tough trying to show how happy you are for someone when you’re just so sad for yourself!
A few twinges on my left side today, a slight sting if there is any pressure eg if I sneeze. I’m deliberating whether this is ovulation or not! My app says I’m due to ovulate this week at some stage.

Geauxtigers · 04/01/2020 15:41

I read that inserting a menstrual cup right after the deed can help keep the sperm closer to the cervix for longer and it hasn't been poo-pooed as rubbish by doctors so I've been popping mine up afterward and keeping it in overnight! 🙈 Feel like a crazy person and this is only my first cycle ttc!

debbs77 · 04/01/2020 15:55

The menstrual cup is a brilliant idea! I don't have one but would if I did!

I've crazy tingly boobs but I've learnt the hard way NOT to read my body signs. So not getting too excited

BecauseReasons · 04/01/2020 18:45

I work in a reasonably high risk job, so there will be certain tasks I simply cannot do, so feel it would be safer to tell work and colleagues before 12 weeks, is this the done thing?

Yes, you tell the HR/ the people responsible for risk assessments immediately so that one can be done.

BecauseReasons · 04/01/2020 18:47

WRT vitamins, we used pregnacare conception, both male and female versions, the first time. This time I'm on the breastfeeding ones instead.

BecauseReasons · 04/01/2020 19:11

The cervical cup thing is really interesting- I'd never heard of it so had a Google. Apparently it hasn't been tested scientifically yet, apparently some medical professionals are for and some against I wouldn't want to do it personally, as I've read that slower sperm are usually lower quality and less likely to result in a viable pregnancy, so I'm happy to give all the chances to the stronger swimmers.

Geauxtigers · 04/01/2020 19:39

@becausereasons that is very true. I'll try it for a cycle and see what happens Smile

Why1stheskyblu3 · 04/01/2020 21:27

That's what I thought, thanks! Smile

Ginge35 · 04/01/2020 21:55

Hi ladies! So many posts since I've last been on! (Been a busy day today!)
I use OPK's as my hubby works shifts so DTD regularly isn't slightly tricky!
But disappointed today though as my Period calendar said I should be high fertility but my OPK just said a big fat no!
Just gonna get cracking tomorrow and Monday and use my OPK's just to gauge what my body is telling me!
It's all so scientific it's quite aggravating!! 🤪🤪🤪

Wintergal · 04/01/2020 22:27

@Ginge35 I've just received my opk am I best to use morning?

Ginge35 · 04/01/2020 23:07

Hi @wintergal yes in the morning. Your first wee of the day as it's not as diluted so the OPK can pick up the slightest spike in your hormones!
I hope mine flashes at me tomorrow! 🤞🤞

OP posts:
Sammiantha2020 · 04/01/2020 23:26

@Ginge35 @wintergal I always thought you used OPKs different from pg tests? Between 10am-8pm? Also it’s important to test @ roughly the same time each day.

Wintergal · 04/01/2020 23:55

@Ginge35 thanks. Fingers crossed for you. Am only on cd7 tomorrow so prob too early for me!

Ginge35 · 05/01/2020 08:36

Morning @wintergal & @Sammiantha2020
I've just done my OPK as soon as I got up and "poof" flashing smiley face! 😁😁😁
Just waiting for DH to get home now from walking to dog! 🤪🤪
How's everyone doing this weekend? Baby dust to all! ❤️

Hi everyone I'd love to join this thread 😊

TTC #3 cycle 2

Copper coil removed 20th November and my cycle lengths are all over the place so not really sure when I ovulate I'm just tracking my periods on an app and hoping for the best.

A little background story of me, we had a miscarriage at around 9 weeks in 2015, unplanned pregnancy and whilst on the pill, had so many complications with hormone contraception which swayed me to the copper iud, had that for 3 years with no issues at all, October I had a very late period and 2 positive pregnancy tests followed by a negative at the gp and an extremely heavy period on CD 45 😣 we weren't planning on having any more children we currently have a 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son. After October I kind of got my hopes up, which led to the conversation of baby #3, so I had the coil removed and we are trying to take a relaxed approach. However last month being our first month of ttc I was like a crazy lady 😬 symptoms spotting and pissing on sticks for the hell of it!

I'd like to say I'll be a bit more chill this month, but id be lying 😂

Good luck everyone, I love reading through everyone's posts! Keeps me sane 🤣
