Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

@1987Nic honestly the first scene of any tv show and I'm welling up 😂

yoomoo · 28/12/2019 19:51

@DontGoJasonWaterfalls @EffRam of course you can join, welcome!

@Bims2019 yes please to the link!

TMI but I keep feeling a drip type feeling down there and am convinced that it’s AF starting, dash to toilet and nothing! I’m sure it’s going to turn up any day now, keep putting on old knickers and PJs just in case 😂 wish it would hurry up but then I know I’m going to be disappointed I didn’t conceive immediately even though I don’t really want a September baby, FFS what is wrong with me Grin

So @BernadetteThreep if I’m understanding the picture right is the one at 3pm ish positive? So you had the surge then meaning you’d ovulate in next 24/48 hours? Sorry for the daft questions I have no idea how these things work!

Reading these conception threads does make me wonder how lucky/unlucky you must be to get pregnant the first time off contraception or from one missed pill, it does seem to be quite the science! No offence to anyone who’s had an accidental pregnancy Grin I’m just jealous!

BernadetteThreep · 28/12/2019 20:39

@yoomoo I'm not very well practiced on the OPKs so was just trying them out. When the test line is darker than the control line it means your getting a LH surge, so you'll ovulate in the next 24 hours Smile from what I understand anyway. The app seems good because it'll keep track and tell you when you get a surge. Which is useful, rather than just guessing. It was just my impatience trying it out tbh Grin

I also tested again this evening and got the result in the attached picture (I wanted to have a few vodkas! So Oh asked me to "check") so my wait might almost be over!

Its like you said about how lucky/unlucky folk are getting pregnant so quickly. My DS took 18 months to conceive, and some how I might be 11 days post contraception. It really does seem like pot luck.

I'm not getting my hopes up too high until the line is a bit more definite Smile

Yes! I’ve been waiting for full mat pay at my job go kick in 😂 we have dd who is 4 and want for start trying in feb. Now tracking cycles to try and conceive as quickly as poss

yoomoo · 28/12/2019 21:00

Bloody hell @BernadetteThreep is that a pregnancy test?! I can see something where the test line would be Shock
We stopped contraception at the same time and think we’ve had similar pains etc so I’m now tempted to test in the morning Grin
How exciting for you, I hope you will do one in the morning and report back Smile

OP posts:
BernadetteThreep · 28/12/2019 21:06

@yoomoo Yeh I think we stopped contraception the same day Smile
I'd love it to be a BFP but I'm trying not to get excited, I've not had a drink this evening just incase. If you do one in the morning make sure you update us! Would be crazy if either of us/both of us were pregnant so soon haha

I've ordered a load of OPKs in preparation so it would be typical, absolutely wonderful and fantastic, but typical SmileSmile

yoomoo · 28/12/2019 21:17

That would be crazy! Is it possible to conceive that quickly and then get a positive test?! I need to do some more research on how it all works I think Grin
I shall do a test in the morning to see and report back, let us know!
I’ve also ordered some OPKs tonight so I’m ready in the future Smile

OP posts:
BernadetteThreep · 28/12/2019 21:21

That’s what I’m thinking too! It might not even be possible to pick up/conceive yet, which is why I’m dubious. It could just be a big old evil evap line. Shall see in the morning Smile

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 28/12/2019 22:29

@bernadettethreep how long after poas did you read the result? That looks like a bfp to me!

BernadetteThreep · 29/12/2019 08:14

It appeared within the 5 minutes and continued to get darker through out the evening. But alas it must have been faulty because taken a FRER this morning and got a great big enormous BFN. So it's back to the waiting for AF game Smile

Rainbo83 · 29/12/2019 11:19

Thanks @yoomoo @Bims2019
I have been reluctant to suggest stopping the pill in case it gets fiances hopes up, I have a DS10 and don't know if its worth me ttc but thinking why not? Time to have a little chat Xmas Smile

lucymagoo · 29/12/2019 11:31

That's a shame @BernadetteThreep! I'm sure it won't be too long until you get a BFP for real :)

Bims2019 · 29/12/2019 12:01

Here you go @yoomoo, hope the link works!

@Rainbo83 if it's on your mind then I'd have a chat, it's a hard topic to bring up but you'll feel much better being open about it 😊 and who knows, your fiance might have been thinking the same thing!

rhirhibumblebee · 29/12/2019 15:37

Ah @BernadetteThreep That's so confusing for you. I hope when you re test it's there again. Fingers crossed!!

Those that have had AF what CD are you?? I'm CD 6 so counting down the days to see if I ovulate next week 😬. Should I quickly order some ovulation tests? Or wing it 🙈

rhirhibumblebee · 29/12/2019 15:45

@Rainbo83 Good Luck! Only you can decide, but if you feel it in your heart then go for it 😀. I really wasn't sure about going for #3 but once we decided, it just clicked xx

yoomoo · 29/12/2019 16:17

Oh no @BernadetteThreep how confusing! I had one of those a couple of years ago, must have been an evap line, I nearly died of fright at the time!

I was going to test this morning but bottled it, still no AF for me nearly 2 weeks off the pill. I’m sure it’s going to arrive any day now! In the meantime we’ll carry on Blush I’ve got some ovulation things coming today so I can give those a go! I’m pretty sure I ovulated just before Christmas so won’t get any result on them for a few weeks.

Definitely @Rainbo83 it is a difficult subject to broach but we found it easiest to talk over food and a few drinks so might be worth a try! Even now I feel weird mentioning it, we are trying because I’m not taking my pill or any other precaution but it still seems weird to say we are trying IYSWIM 😂

Thank you @Bims2019 that’s exactly what I’ve ordered they are arriving today!

@rhirhibumblebee I’d like to say wing it but having ordered some myself I have to say order some ovulation tests to get certainty, the more I read online I honestly have no idea how anyone accidentally gets pregnant it seems like a science needing a lot of tests and timing Grin

OP posts:
lucymagoo · 29/12/2019 17:33

Yes it's definitely worth remembering people get accidentally pregnant all the time, the science behind it is a little daunting and makes it seem way more complicated.
I have no idea if I'm going to be able to track ovulation having just come off the depo injection in August and then the mini pill until two weeks ago. Depo can take up to a year and a half to get out of your system so I'm an idiot for doing it. Just going to hope for the best until I get a regular AF.

Fluffysocks10 · 29/12/2019 17:48

Hi everyone, am I ok to join? Me and OH had a chat the other morning and we both agreed on trying Grin. I’m 28 and came off Cerezette last summer (I was on it 10 years and didn’t have periods whilst taking it).

Soooo nervous now we have decided to try!

lucymagoo · 29/12/2019 18:10

Welcome @Fluffysocks10!

1987Nic · 29/12/2019 18:38

It’s not like me at all, glad it’s calmed down ha. @lucymagoo

1987Nic · 29/12/2019 18:40

How long did it take to get your first period? interested as I’ve been on the same pill for around 10 years too. @Fluffysocks10

Rainbo83 · 29/12/2019 18:43

Am loving all the positivity here!
As for quick 'happenings' yes, my DS is the result of a bad case of food poisioning on holiday-
Which must have messed up my pill at the time Grin

Fluffysocks10 · 29/12/2019 18:49

Thanks @lucymagoo

@1987Nic I took my last pill in July 2018 and got my first period end of August 2018. My periods are still irregular and when I thought I was getting somewhere (I had 3 cycles in a row at 43/44 days) I had a 5 day really intense heavy bleed in October and then nothing until this past week! I'm going to book a docs appt in the new year because I'm fed up of not knowing if I'm coming or going!

1987Nic · 29/12/2019 19:14

Ah that’s a shame that it hasn’t settled down but you’ve done the best thing by coming of them last year.

BernadetteThreep · 30/12/2019 09:02

Welcome @fluffysocks10

How is everyone doing? My DS came home from spending a few days at his dad's, so it's been a lovely distraction. He left on boxing day so he's had all his presants back out.
13 days post contraception, no AF yet, but have a "heavy" dull ache so maybe it's on its way? Didn't have periods on the implant (been on it for 5 years so think I've forgotten what it feels like haha).
Been feeling a bit disheartened from that crappy false positive test the other day.

My BBT thermometer arrives today, so going to start the habit of using it tomorrow AM.
