Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

@yoomoo Our journey is very similar, stopped pill a day apart, took pill for what sounds around a similar amount of time and the same age. I know our journeys will not be the same but glad we can all discuss symptoms of coming of the pill etc.

yoomoo · 21/12/2019 22:34

Welcome to the thread @1987Nic! I’m 32 as well Smile also been on one type of hormonal contraception or another for about 14 years so expecting things to take a while too! Stopped taking my pill last Tuesday, mid way through a packet nothing has happened of note so far. Thinking I’ll take a test at the end of January if nothing has happened just in case by some miracle I’m fertile!

That’s a good idea to test just to know where you are. I’m only on to day two without my pill, I’ve got an awful headache but I’ve just put that down to being super busy in the lead up to Christmas.

switcharoo · 21/12/2019 22:49

I'll join! I'm 33 with one DS, we're starting in January and been taking supermarket brand folic acid for a month or so in prep. Fell pregnant on the first month with DS so trying to remind myself it's v v unlikely to happen that easily again and try not to get obsessed with it all! DH finds it all a bit of a turnoff when I talk about ovulation dates and OPKs so I have to keep the crazy contained but I hate the lack of control in ttc

yoomoo · 21/12/2019 22:50

I have had a stinking headache all day too, took some ibuprofen earlier which helped but it’s back again now. I was wondering if it was something to do with the pill 🤔 my skin is also horrific I’ve suddenly gained a million spots around the side of my face which I think is hormonal. How fun!

Welcome @switcharoo! Wow you were very lucky to fall so quickly first time around, had you stopped hormonal contraception a while before? Sorry if that’s a bit nosey! Totally with you on lack of control there’s literally nothing we can do which is SO frustrating. I’m trying to be chilled at the moment but I can see in the future ending up a bit obsessed, we can keep that between us on here Grin

Welcome Switcharoo. My boyfriend is also not a fan of all of the apps etc too. That’s a shame we’ve both had a headache, I’m so glad that I decided to come off the pill during the two weeks off work but I’ve made lots of plans ha. I’ve heard that it can cause spots, hopefully they go as quick as they arrived.

switcharoo · 21/12/2019 23:14

@yoomoo if you can't be nosey on a thread like this where can you be Smile I've never been on any chemical contraception so perhaps that's helped my cycle keep regular, I use a couple of apps to track my cycle and I think we DTD 4 times over about a week to be sure

Florence13 · 22/12/2019 02:56

Can't decide whether to stop my pill or finish the packet which finishes the 3rd Jan. Part of me feels really keen to get things started. The headaches don't sound good hope your both without headaches in the morning. It is so nice to have somewhere to talk to people about all this TTC stuff.

chillichutneysarnie · 22/12/2019 08:36

Hi all I'm going to start in March TTC my first. I've just turned 33, have been married almost 5 years now. Went on a blowout holiday a couple of weeks ago to get something out of our systems, and feeling as ready as I guess I ever could! Have to wait til march due to zika risk. Both on vitamins and going to shift a few pounds in the new year. Going to do opks this month to try and see what day I ovulate and I'm going to buy preseed as well. I'm assuming it's not going to be easy or quick, but ultimately if we can be a family of 3 by Xmas 2021 that would be amazing 😁 (left it too late for Xmas 2020 unless there's a miracle child). Can't wait to keep up with everyone's news!

1987Nic · 22/12/2019 08:57

Thanks, I’ve still woke up with a headache but not sure if it’s linked to coming off the pill. It’s exciting trying to decide when to come off. I’m also going to try and lose some weight.

JaffaCakeGal · 22/12/2019 09:33

So I took my last pill yesterday Confused getting panicky thinking about not taking it but I've got the vitamins to take instead! Will be interesting to see how grumpy I am now without the pill, hope DP is ready for the PMS rage Grin

Florence13 · 22/12/2019 17:16

@1987Nic sorry to hear you still have your headache hope it settles soon. Not looking forward to the symptoms that seem to come with being off the pill.

yoomoo · 22/12/2019 17:46

Welcome to the newbies! We’ve got a great little group now. No headache for me today thankfully, but have got backache so not sure if a period is on its way. Wonder how long it takes for the effects of the pill to wear off and get out of the system?

@JaffaCakeGal I also feel slightly panicky every evening when I don’t take it, such a weird feeling after being so rigid about taking it. I’m also very intrigued as to what my moods will be like over next few weeks Grin
Is everyone excited for Christmas? Keep thinking all going to plan there will be one more of us next year Smile

My headaches shifted today but feel like I’m coming down with something rather than the pill caus

1987Nic · 23/12/2019 09:51

Causing it. I’m super excited for Christmas, my first nephew was born 4 weeks ago so it’ll be lovely to have him around. Hope you all have a lovely time.

Florence13 · 23/12/2019 21:36

Aww yes I'm super excited for Christmas but feel so unorganised this year!! At least it will help time go quicker as we progress on our TTC journey

lucymagoo · 24/12/2019 11:04

Does anyone know how you're supposed to predict ovulation when your cycle is all over the place? Before I went on hormonal contraceptives my cycle was super regular so hoping it returns to that but obviously quite unlikely

yoomoo · 24/12/2019 11:48

@1987Nic hope you are feeling better today, enjoy your Christmas with your family and new nephew how lovely!

@Florence13 enjoy your Christmas

@lucymagoo I have been wondering the same, off the pill for a week now with no sign of any bleed. Over the last few months I have been trying to pay attention and I think I ovulate around the 20th of the month but I don’t know if I’m imagining it! I get a sharp pain in one side and then the sticky discharge (TMI sorry!) but I can’t be certain. I’m going to go with the flow for January, take a test at the end of that month (so 6 weeks being off pill) and then if it’s negative get some ovulation test strips, I found some on amazon for £4 for 30. Maybe by then I will have had a period and things might be clearer. I wish there were more information available though but I guess the pill works differently for everyone? Some people it stops ovulation all together, others it doesn’t I think I’ve still been ovulating!

Afternoon lovely ladies!

I had my implant out a week ago so we can start TTC. I have a DS who is 7 from a previous relatiobship. This will be my OH first. I'm so excited and impatient already! Hopefully I will calm down Wink. I haven't had signs of AF yet, got a BFN on my stick this morning (surprise surprise), but just had to scratch that itch haha

Planning on starting to use ovulation sticks once first AF has been.

Good luck to everyone for next year Smile

lucymagoo · 24/12/2019 12:30

@yoomoo I've been off the pill a week too, will probably do the same as you and test at the end of January, I'm doing dry January so best to just relax and let my body do its thing until then and try not to think about it too much

Spark27 · 24/12/2019 12:47

Can I join please. I'm 34 with one DD (2.5yrs). Started trying this cycle, but AF just came so I'm going to settle down into Xmas and begin again next year. Only took 2 cycles last time but that was more luck rather than judgement, so once this periods done I'll be tracking with the ovulation sticks.

Good luck to everyone xx

rhirhibumblebee · 25/12/2019 22:56

Hi everyone! I've been waiting to join a thread as I have just started my first period after a miscarriage (started yesterday.) Feel really nervous to start trying again but excited! HCG has stayed in my system for almost 4 weeks so I'm very glad to see a normal period.

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas!

yoomoo · 26/12/2019 07:17

Hi @BernadetteThreep @Spark27 welcome to the thread! So nice to have a good amount of us Smile 1 week off the pill for me now, keep feeling like I’m going to get a period with stomach cramps and backache but so far nothing is happening Confused which I find very annoying as I’d just like to know what on earth my body is up to!

@rhirhibumblebee sorry to hear about your miscarriage, glad your period has now arrived so you can get started again like you say. Fingers crossed for you!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas 🎄 we’ve got more family round today and my stepdaughter is with us so she finally gets to open the presents Santa bought her, I’m awake early very excited to see her open it all!

@rhirhibumblebee sorry to hear about your MC. I had a MMC (years ago now) it almost felt like a relief when hcg levels disappeared.
I'm 9 days past implant removed, got some niggling cramp type pains too @yoomoo. Just wish my body would hurry up now and have AF appear!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas xx
