Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

Phew Christmas is done for another year! It’s been so hectic last few days hosting but we’re all done now, cleared up so now time to relax. Well 10 days since no pill and I’ve got backache and feel really sick, only thing that’s helping is eating and then the relief is only temporary. Great diet Grin
Assume this is all just side effects of coming off the pill and I haven’t by some miracle got pregnant the instant I’ve come off the pill, my partner of course thinks he’s part of a miracle 😂

@yoomoo Thank you! Yes glad the chaos of Xmas is dying down now!
Did you have periods on the pill? When was that? With my second son, I caught very quickly off the pill but this time, I haven't.

@BernadetteThreep Yes its a relief, my last blood test HCG was 90 still! It's taken so long to go. But I've had the most heavy period ever 😩. So I'm really hoping it's helped it return to 0 now. Xx

yoomoo · 27/12/2019 14:57

@rhirhibumblebee no I’ve never had a period at all whilst on the pill, or any other hormonal contraception they totally stop for me!

I’m in a weird conundrum of wanting to have one so that I can get my cycle tracked to hoping I’m pregnant so I don’t have to have one! I really don’t think I can be already, just my body being silly. If nothing shows up by end of Jan I’ll do a test.

I'm looking forward to having a period to! The implant completely stopped mine, which I loved! But now waiting for it to arrive is driving me a tad crazy Confused

@rhirhibumblebee I hope your HCG levels are at 0 soon Smile seems a backwards thing to say, but I hope you get what I mean!

NeverGotMyPuppy · 27/12/2019 16:25

Hello - can I join please?
We have DS who is 15 months and we are planning on starting TTC for number 2 in January.

Bims2019 · 27/12/2019 17:21

Hi all, may I join you? 🙂
I came off the pill back in September to let my cycles get back to "normal", periods have come back and have been quite varied since - first natural AF after stopping was 25 days, then 30, and latest was 34 days... but that could have been to do with work stress etc.
I'm 32, hubby is 30 and we'll be trying for our first in January! Just waiting for AF to get out of the way then will be TTC from next week I hope.

@yoomoo I didn't know what to expect coming off the pill either, AF does feel more painful now with more cramps but it is a relief to have it come back. Fingers crossed for all of you waiting!

Florence13 · 27/12/2019 20:24

@yoomoo yes super glad Christmas is done has been hectic but enjoyable. Hope you had a good one.

@Bims2019 @NeverGotMyPuppy welcome to the group :)

1987Nic · 27/12/2019 21:12

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. It’s been a week today since I came off the pill , I’ve had the odd headache but that’s all up to now. Welcome to everyone that has just joined Smile.

AlohaMolly · 27/12/2019 21:20

Oh oh oh, me!! DS is just over 3.5 and I told DP that id really like another one for October/November... reason being that dS will be full time in school and have had a month or so to settle in to the routine and I can give new baby a decent amount of just me/them time like I did with DS. I’m also not dropping my boss in it during the busy period as my work is seasonal, but get a year or so off with DS as well so avoid school holiday childcare!

DP has been quite reluctant to have another, DS was definitely unplanned, but neither of us want him to be an only if at all possible. I had 4 mc’s in my 20s though and have PCOS so know that this could be the start of a long, hard path. I was 28 when I had DS and three stone lighter, I’m 32 now. I’ve lost 13lbs over the last eight weeks though and intend to keep losing while TTC. I’m not using contraception atm but we haven’t had sex in a while... but one miscarriage and DS’ conception were both while I was using th pill anyway, so, historically, my problem has been carrying a pregnancy to term rather than getting pregnant in the first place.

I hadn’t thought about taking any vitamins... is it folic acid and vitamin D most people are taking?? I’m so nervous - partly because I know I’m likely to experience more losses, given my history, but also because I suffered quite badly in my last pregnancy!

rhirhibumblebee · 27/12/2019 21:32

@yoomoo Totally get it! Felt like that when I first stopped the pill in September too. Fingers crossed!

@BernadetteThreep Thank you! Full of waiting games 😩. Fingers crossed for AF soon. This has been my worst ever one!

rhirhibumblebee · 27/12/2019 21:39

@AlohaMolly awww My DS was 4 when my second son was born, it was a lovely age gap 😀

AlohaMolly · 27/12/2019 21:44

rhirhibumblebee I’m hoping it will be perfect. My DNiece has just turned one and we’ve spent the day with them today (we live 300 miles apart so this is the first time since June) and he was So good with her!!

BernadetteThreep · 27/12/2019 21:46

Welcome all!

I've been keeping myself busy by looking at some of the apps suggested to me in a different thread.

Stocked up on some Internet cheepies (HPTs and OPKs)

Tomorrow will be 11 days since implant removal, so I'm going to POAS in the morning. Just to get rid of that itch Grin

Rainbo83 · 27/12/2019 23:29

Hello all!
I am wavering at the moment. Not sure if my age will be a factor. There's so much conflicting information online. How did you all broach the idea/coming off the pill convo?

Bims2019 · 28/12/2019 08:48

@AlohaMolly I'm just taking folic acid, the boots own brand. Wasn't sure if I needed the vitamin d one as well! Sorry to hear about your history, it would be lovely to have a sibling for your son :)

@BernadetteThreep at the moment I'm using Flo, just the free version, which seems to work ok. What apps are other people using? It would be great to know which one you find most helpful! I can also track cycles on my Fitbit, but not quite got the hang of that yet... Also going to order some OPKs, as know roughly when I'm ovulating (I think!) But would be good to know for sure.

@Florence13 thank you!

JaffaCakeGal · 28/12/2019 09:45

I downloaded the Ovia app, put literally no info in as I don't know my cycle length or when I last had a period etc, and it told me I was at my most fertile the couple of days after I came off the pill. I think it needs to calm down Grin

Hopefully AF will be here soon, getting the pulling feeling and other usual symptoms! Will be glad when it does so I can actually start tracking. Or if not, POAS just in case mid-Jan as we haven't been using anything but DTD like rabbits Blush

yoomoo · 28/12/2019 10:18

Morning all and welcome to the newbies @NeverGotMyPuppy @Bims2019 @AlohaMolly @Rainbo83
It’s so nice to have a group of us all with the same plans!

Still no sign of a period for me, I keep feeling like something is happening but when I go to the bathroom there’s nothing, every day I wake up and think today must be the day but nope! My partner is of course convinced he’s done the job already Grin I keep explaining its highly unlikely after me being on hormonal contraception for over 10 years but I’ll let him have his male ego trip for now!

@Rainbo83 we have been chatting about baby plans for about 6 months now and had originally planned to stop after my packet finished on 7th Jan but had a bit of a heart to heart over a Chinese and a few gins nearly 2 weeks ago which ended in agreement to stop taking the pill immediately. We haven’t really had any huge discussions since then mainly joking about what we are letting ourselves in for! I’m trying to be super relaxed about it and not track things but I do have the Ovia app downloaded which I’m putting things into but tbh that’s totally useless at the moment because I’ve got no AF in there, wish it had some way of logging that you’ve just come off the pill.

@BernadetteThreep let us know how your test goes!

Are there any cheap ovulation tests that you recommend please? Don’t really want to spend a fortune at this stage! Ideally something on amazon!

Vitamin wise I’ve been taking these (Photo attached hopefully), I just happened to pop into our local pharmacy and they have their own brand, when I compared the ingredients to those of ‘Pregnacare’ they were the same! The Lloyds pharmacy ones are £3.99 though compared to £18! I promise I don’t work for them 😂 I take one just before bed as they made me feel a bit sick when I took them at breakfast time.

@JaffaCakeGal EXACTLY the same as me! It’s driving me bonkers wondering if it’s the start of pregnancy or my body getting into gear for AF.

I’ll join you in testing mid Jan Smile

OP posts:
JaffaCakeGal · 28/12/2019 10:46

@yoomoo I hope mine isn't the start of pregnancy as I haven't changed anything about my lifestyle other than stop the pill and start the vitamins! TMI I know but do you get the griping pains and needing the toilet a lot more when AF is due? That's what I currently have so every time I go to the toilet I expect it to have started!

DontGoJasonWaterfalls · 28/12/2019 10:52

Hi all, could I join please? DH and I are going to start trying in 2020 (we've technically started this month but I doubt we'll conceive straight away).

I'm 25. I had DD when I was 19, very unexpected so its nice for DH and I to be in a position where we're actually trying to conceive Grin currently ovulating... I think? I'm really bad at remembering when periods were etc.

Bims2019 · 28/12/2019 11:02

@Rainbo83 a bit like @yoomoo we had a heart to heart while out for dinner for our anniversary over the summer. Decided I would finish the pills I had which ended in September, then see how things went and let my cycles settle a bit. Then we had another chat over Christmas and decided it feels right now! Don't know why but it was a difficult thing to bring up, we've both always wanted children but never really talked about when before... But when talking about it we decided the timing will never be perfect, so will go for it and see what happens 😊

I would also like to be relaxed about TTC at first but not sure that's going to happen 😂

@yoomoo a lady on another thread recommended some to me but I haven't ordered yet, will find the link for you if that helps? It's so frustrating when you're waiting for AF to arrive, mine has definitely been up and down since I came off the pill and I hate being on knicker watch! Hope you find out one way or another soon, and you @JaffaCakeGal 🙂

BernadetteThreep · 28/12/2019 11:51

@Bims2019 I’ve been looking at Flo, Femometer and Premom. On Femometer you can upload a pic of your OPK stick (I’ve added a picture) which is useful to see the progression

@yoomoo my OH thinks he’s done the job already too Hmm Grin tested this morning and got a BFN - as expected implant has only been out 11 days!

I few of us seem to be waiting for AF to arrive after stoping contraception, it’s kinda nice to be in the same boat as others. I like to think once AF arrives I’ll feel calmer about the whole thing, just feels like a limbo right now

lucymagoo · 28/12/2019 13:42

I'm two weeks of the pill and no sign of AF, I have been a bit more teary at Christmas movies than usual but otherwise feel the same!
I also redownloaded the Clue app for period tracking and it got my "current" cycle tracked as 800 days long 😂 oops

EffRam · 28/12/2019 13:43

Hello, can I join? :) I have a fifteen month old son and we are going to start trying for no2 from now. Have changed natural cycles from 'prevent' to 'plan' a pregnancy.

I am so excited and terrified at the same time!

Last time it took about 3 months to get pregnant, and it was the first month I felt I had got the hang of the opks that it took...

Reading this has reminded me I need to get back on the folic acid too! My husband has started taking the pregnacare men's conception vitamins. He's keener than I am!

1987Nic · 28/12/2019 14:40

@lucymagoo I was really teary in the first couple of days too.
