Yammers thread 11!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@NoseringGirl hopefully it's just all those vits your taking got your body working. Injections are good. I've done two now and they don't really hurt and I've had no side affects so better than clomid so far which is odd. I am only on day two though and I'm drinking loads of water which I didn't stick too with clomid x

Jojowash · 23/10/2019 23:42

@impatientmammy @NoseringGirl

Thanks for welcome guys x

Mseddy · 24/10/2019 20:31

@Jojowash welcome :) sorry for your losses. Fingers crossed the vits help for a sticky bean!

@impatientlyinfertile glad your injections are going well. I've just come on today so first injection tonight at 10pm! I'm weirdly excited.

Got a letter from our clinic requesting payment which has annoyed me given we have already paid access fertility a large sum of money! Going to ring them tomorrow and hopefully get it sorted.

@NoseringGirl fingers crossed your onto a long run of ovulatory cycles now!

dragonmummy17 · 24/10/2019 21:12

@Jojowash welcome. Sorry for your losses. To be honest I don't take any vitamins or supplements now because I got fed up of taking them... I just try to eat healthily. I don't drink but that's because I genuinely can't cope with the hangovers!!
@impatientlyinfertile glad things are going well so far. @Mseddy good luck for the first injection
@NoseringGirl hopefully just the start of everything working and another ovulatory cycle

I have been hugely baby bombed today... 2 birth and 2 pregnancy announcements in 1 day. I'm pretty sure AF will be here by the weekend too. I'm just trying to focus on our appointment but today has been really hard

impatientlyinfertile · 24/10/2019 21:45

Ooo noo @dragonmummy17 bless you. Tomorrow can only be better.

Awww yay @Mseddy the first ones exciting x

Mseddy · 24/10/2019 22:19

@dragonmummy17 sorry for the baby bombing :( it's really shit sometimes isn't it. 4 in a day is something else though!

@impatientlyinfertile it was exciting to get it done because that marks the next step of our journey. Drawing it up was a faff because its 1 vial of water to 3 vials of powder. Im a nurse so drawing up drugs is second nature to me but I still had to think about it to make sure I got every drop. It makes me wonder how hard it must be for couples who this is a whole new concept for them. DH was a bit thumsby and scared of hurting me, but he did it perfectly :) I'm going to have to try really hard not to just do it myself, because I want him to be involved even if it does take a little longer and probably sting a little more. He even said "shape scratch" like we do when we give meds at work bless him. Tomorrow injection will be in my car outside a wedding party im at! Joys!

NoseringGirl · 24/10/2019 22:19

@impatientlyinfertile I hope it continues to be less rough than clomid. I remember really struggling with that drug!

@Mseddy thank you! I hope so too. Hope the first injection went well. Best of luck sorting the billing issue out with the clinic, hopefully just an error on their part!

@dragonmummy17 thank you! That sounds like a horrendous amount of baby bombing in one day. I hope you're managing to do something nice for yourself. Sending virtual hugs!

Awww @Mseddy I'm just doing mine my other half is working away until egg collection. Also I'm using bemfola which is preloaded until the cetrotide starts 😬
I've got a stinking cold now @NoseringGirl so it's hard to say x

Mseddy · 26/10/2019 10:46

@impatientlyinfertile I've woken up this morning with a cold too :( hoping it's maybe a side effect rather than a cold because I don't want anything to mess this cycle up!
I ended up doing my injection in the loo at the wedding I was at. The world of ttc and infertility is a strange bloody place! If someone had told me years ago when I was still paranoid that if I so much as looked at a boy the wrong way id get pregnant, that one day I'd be secretly injecting myself in a loo to ttc I'd have thought they where nuts!

impatientlyinfertile · 26/10/2019 12:36

@Mseddy same 🙄 ahh well done though sounds sounds tough x

PineappleC · 26/10/2019 14:12

Hi all,

Hoping I can join! I'm on cycle 16 TTC #1. We've just had our first fertility appt following all the tests (bloods, hycosy, SAs). Turns out there is an issue with DHs sperm (motility and count) so they've already referred us for IVF and ICSI. Glad they are taking us seriously and referring us so quickly, but kinda scared too in case it doesn't work!!

Anyway this looks like a really supportive group for those of us having a bit of a waiting game 😊xx

NoseringGirl · 26/10/2019 15:01

Welcome @PineappleC sorry you've found yourself here but great news about the referral happening so quickly. All the best with it!

OP posts:
Mseddy · 26/10/2019 15:33

Hey @PineappleC
We are in similar boats. We are having IVF with icsi for male factor, just started stim drugs a few days ago. Sounds like you've had alot of the tests already so fingers crossed you'll be able to start quite soon

PineappleC · 26/10/2019 21:49

Thanks very much @noseringgirl and @mseddy 😊

@mseddy, oh good luck with yours and I hope the process is successful! Is this your first ivf? We were told it's likely to be 16-18 weeks but that seems much quicker than others have said so I feel very lucky - total postcode lottery!

Mseddy · 26/10/2019 22:02

@PineappleC yeah this is our first round. We waited 16 weeks from first fertility appt to the one where treatment dates where sorted out. We went self funded at the second appt though and things sped up considerably. That second appt was only 3 weeks ago and we are on drugs already so very quick!

I've got a banging headache and feel sickly and dizzy tonight. Not sure if it's the drugs or if I'm just coming down with something. I really hope it's not the drugs as I don't fancy feeling like this for the next 2 weeks!

impatientlyinfertile · 26/10/2019 23:04

My headaches eased now @Mseddy I think it takes a few days for your body to adjust I had an awful headache from day 2-4 of stims I have a cold but the headaches really eased up so I think it was hormones x

Mseddy · 27/10/2019 18:12

@impatientlyinfertile funnily enough my headache has gone today too, maybe it was just my body adjusting. Today all I have done is pee! like a stupid amount. I suppose if this all works then ill end up being like that when I'm pregnant, so its good practice I guess! Have you got a scan soon?

impatientlyinfertile · 29/10/2019 04:30

I'm glad your headeaches gone @Mseddy . I've had two scans now I think they're happy with my progress. I'm down for egg collection but I have asthma and a really chesty cold affecting it they said they might need to do egg collection without anaesthetic and I'm terrified 😩 when's your first scan? X

dragonmummy17 · 29/10/2019 07:46

@PineappleC welcome. Glad things are moving quickly for you
I'm so nervous about writing this but despite having really strong signs AF was coming last week, I got a BFP. I'm really anxious about it after all this time and the miscarriage last year but excited too.

Mseddy · 29/10/2019 10:46

@dragonmummy17 congratulations! I've got everything crossed for a very sticky bean! I can understand the anxiousness, but I'm glad your excited too. Try to let excitement win :)

@impatientlyinfertile that's good that they are happy with your progress and have you scheduled for egg collection! When is it? Try not to worry about not being under anaesthetic, most clinics don't fully anaesthetise for egg collection. Instead they just sedate you heavily. That's what I'm having. The risks of trying to control the breathing of an asthmatic who's having an acute episode are huge, we really try and hold of on intubating asthmatics at work unless it's 100% necessary. Asthmatic people's lungs are very good at compensating and working out their own breathing pattern to keep them working efficiently and it's really hard for a machine to copy that breathing pattern, that's all it comes down to. From what I've heard from friends that have had it under sedation they don't remember any of the procedure because they are so spaced out

impatientlyinfertile · 29/10/2019 13:40

Thanks @Mseddy I have another scan tomorrow so I'm going to ask more about what will happen if they aren't happy with my breathing. Egg collection is Friday. How's things going with you?
Omg @dragonmummy17 that's amazing news !! Congratulations 😆😆😆 x

NoseringGirl · 29/10/2019 15:20

Oh wow @dragonmummy17 I completely understand the anxiety, I hope it's a sticky one! Massive congratulations to you!!

@impatientlyinfertile I hope your cold goes soon and the egg collection goes well!

FF had given me crosshairs and put me at 3DPO. Looking at my chart, it does look convincingly ovulatory but I've not had a peak on the OPK yet. The lines have started getting darker again and I've got loads of EWCM. It's all very confusing! I think I've had one straight forward cycle in the 19 months we've been TTC.

OP posts:
impatientlyinfertile · 29/10/2019 17:29

Ivf stims are making me feel pregnant now. I'm nauseous, saw boobs, skin break out and apparently now I have food aversions 😑 x

dragonmummy17 · 29/10/2019 19:42

Thanks all. I phoned this afternoon to cancel the fertility appointment next week and that felt really scary... they were really lovely though
@impatientlyinfertile hope the egg collection goes well and start to feel better soon .
@NoseringGirl hopefully the opk and FF will match up soon... your cycles mmust be so frustrating!

Lilzpk · 31/10/2019 17:33

@dragonmummy17 massive congratulations!

I'm finally back in the game again, just finished af. 54 day cycle following miscarriage, It was soul crushing. Feeling slightly more positive now that I'm finally on the other side of it. My tsh is too high to let me be hopefull for pregnancy this cycle but hopefully it'll be sorted over the next couple of weeks. Reviewing everything with doctor on the 2 December, they mentioned ovulation stimulation meds if tsh looks good. I've been reading up on experiences and lots of ladies seems to favour letrozole over clomid, anyone have insights to share?
