Created a new thread as the other one was full. Hope everyone finds it okay!!

Yammers thread 11!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

@Ree91 thank you! Not a silly question about the clomid! I was actually going to get given it again when we were TTC DS2 but got pregnant just before the appointment. I never used to ovulate on my own which is why I had it but I do sometimes now so shouldn't technically need it I don't think? I found it quite a difficult medication to be on (awful mood swings) so not sure I could handle it again plus I'm not sure I could get it anymore unless I went private.

@impatientmammy I totally get what you mean! The first time around was much harder for me. It's hard now and there's definitely times where it's worse like when I've had chemicals but I general I just remind myself how fortunate I am to have my kids.

@MorgenMuffel cross post! So sorry for the cramps and bleeding, I hope it doesn't lead to AF for you!

OP posts:
MorgenMuffel · 25/09/2019 22:24

@ree19 welcome! sorry your wait is sooo long. I'm ttc#1 about 19months in with no sniff of a BFP. had initial appt with fertility specialist in July after about 3 months waiting. had further tests earlier this month and nothing wrong. waiting until Dec to go back to be referred for ivf....consultant was there at the tests though so no idea why they couldn't do the referral off the back of the tests themselves. sorry, just realised that wasn't v helpful so I'll shut up now.!

impatientmammy · 25/09/2019 22:27

Sorry to hear that @MorgenMuffel . I hope your sickness passes
How long were you trying for your first two @NoseringGirl ? X

NoseringGirl · 25/09/2019 22:39

@impatientmammy DS1 was 16 months and 3 rounds of clomid and DS2 was 17 months. I've been trying longer again this time now. Didn't enjoy that milestone. Guess it's to be expected as I'm older but I'm ovulating on my own so hope it would happen quicker this time!

OP posts:
impatientmammy · 25/09/2019 23:12

I hope you don't have much longer to wait @NoseringGirl x

dragonmummy17 · 25/09/2019 23:21

@Ree91 I've been ttc for 17 months... I stopped counting cycles ages ago. I have very short cycles though so it's a lot. TTC number 2
I also sometimes feel guilty about complaining but I agree... I think this a hard journey whichever number child you are ttc.
@impatientmammy that's a great cycle length. Hope it's the start of a positive cycle for you
@NoseringGirl fingers crossed it doesn't affect you and you get a high soon.

We got DHs results back today. All fine. Dropped them over to my GP tonight so hopefully the referral will go back in by the weekend

dragonmummy17 · 25/09/2019 23:24

Somehow missed there was a page 2 already!
@MorgenMuffel sorry it looks like AF is starting

Ree91 · 25/09/2019 23:35

@dragonmummy17 most definitely! That's great news about his results!

@noseringgirl I can imagine the side effects are probably much harder to deal with when you have children too! How old are your two little ones?

@MorgenMuffel I'm similar to you although not as long, I've not had a sniff of a bfp although my willpower is fairly strong and I don't tend to test very often before af is due so not sure if I've ever had a cp couple of my cycles have been unusually long so potentially? Is this your first too? Is ivf the only route they offer now assuming tests come back all Okay?

NoseringGirl · 26/09/2019 00:01

@dragonmummy17 great news about your DH's results!

@Ree91 the oldest is about to turn 6 and the youngest is 2 (he'll be 3 in January)

OP posts:
MorgenMuffel · 26/09/2019 07:38

@dragonmummy great news about DH results. hope the referral goes through swiftly

@ree91 yeah I don't test until AF is late either so guess I can't rule the possibility of any cps

@impatientmammy thanks. feeling a bit better today although AF here in full force. hope nausea isn't a fun new pms symptom to add to the mix!

right, I've been grumpy enough for the last two days (and thanks for putting up with me). putting positive pants on now...

Mseddy · 26/09/2019 17:59

Hi. Can I join?

Been TTC number 1 for 16 months. Spent the first 11 months trying every trick in the book and not a sniff of a bfp. Went to the gp as DH had chemo in the past so we knew there was the possibility of issues and found out there are zero little swimmers and were referred to fertility clinic.
Strangely things have been easier the last 6 months going through the process of having all the tests ect done because there has been no TWW and no devastation when AF shows up as I know there is 0% chance we can fall pregnant. We have our second appt tomorrow and hopefully we will get the ball rolling for IVF (maybe IUI first) and I'm already getting nervous about being back in the TWW game! I can't face the usual TWW threads because I've spent so so many months feeling like the only one who didn't get pregnant!!

Baby dust to you all!! It amazes me how many people struggle with such different stories and experiences, yet infertility is such a taboo subject and people are uneasy talking about it! Glad I've found a place you can!! X

Ree91 · 26/09/2019 21:12

@NoseringGirl such a lovely age!

@MorgenMuffel positive pants 🤣 glad you're feeling better!

@mseddy welcome! As strange as it sounds I understand why you feel calmer knowing, I think you can come to terms with it if you know what the problem is? It's great the ball is rolling for you now! I assume this will be your first? Sending you lots of luck for your appt tomorrow let us know how it goes x

NoseringGirl · 26/09/2019 21:24

@MorgenMuffel I hope those positive pants are feeling comfortable!

@Mseddy welcome! I know what you mean about the other threads. I hope you'll feel more at home here! Good luck with the appointment tomorrow. Sounds like you've been on quite a TTC journey already!

Got another low on the OPK today. I'm only CD9 though and my friend said she didn't get highs as early after her first cycle using it. Will see what it says tomorrow!
I've got a sore throat and cold now though and like the work stress, I'm worrying about the impact on ovulation. It feels like such a delicate balance for me!

OP posts:
Mseddy · 26/09/2019 22:04

@Ree91 yeah we are trying for our first, although I totally get what's been said earlier in this thread. Trying for first, second, or 10th this journey is still bloody tough!!

@NoseringGirl

Thanks for the luck guys, I'll keep you posted how it goes. I'm just excited to move forward, even though I currently have no idea which way is forward!!

@NoseringGirl I totally get the delicate balance thing. I worry about being stressed and how that'll impact things and then I get stressed from worrying. And before I know it I'm stressing about being stressed and it's just crazy!! I'm already stressing about my cycle because I feel like a soon as I have things that need doing on certain cycle days my cycle will go crazy from the stress of it!! The joys of TTC!

impatientmammy · 26/09/2019 22:56

I hear you when it comes to stressing about stress @Mseddy I'm only cd2 and I started stressing today that if I get too stressed my period might get delayed and wreck out chances of ivf. Literally all I need to do is chill out 🤦🏻‍♀️.
Sorry ladies I read everything earlier but I'm shattered now x

NoseringGirl · 27/09/2019 09:19

Stressing about being stressed definitely sums up how I feel about TTC at this point!

I got a flashing smiley on my OPK this morning though. Just waiting and hoping for a LH surge now. I had 8 days of highs last month before a peak!

OP posts:
dragonmummy17 · 27/09/2019 21:40

@Mseddy hi. Hope your appointment went well today
BFN this morning. I've had really bad hip pain today though so something hormonal must be happening!

Mseddy · 28/09/2019 17:31

@NoseringGirl fingers crossed for that peak!

@dragonmummy17 sorry for the BFN, fingers crossed something is still happening! Our appointment was good and bad at the same time and now i'm so mixed up with emotions i just feel a little numb to it all! Because our issues are MFI following chemo and we have gallons of sperm frozen pre chemo, the nurse at our initial appointment was quite positive about trying IUI first and us having a good chance of success. So I suppose I had allowed myself to believe this would be the case and we would avoid IVF all together if things went well. Then yesterday we saw a registrar with possible the worst bedside manner I've ever come across when breaking bad news, (and I'm a nurse so I've come across my fair share of bad ones!) and he opened the appointment by telling us we couldn't do IUI before I had even sat down! It turns out our sperm doesn't thaw well and we need ICSI IVF.
The positive side of things is that we have a start date in 4 weeks time when i start my next cycle, so we will finally have a shot at a BFP for the first time in 16 months! So I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed with all the information we have been given in the last 24 hours and excited and petrified all at the same time!

Lilzpk · 28/09/2019 17:50

Hi to all the new ladies, hopefully you won't be yamming for too much longer. Hope everyone is feeling ok. After a loss in my last cycle, myself and dh decided it would be better for stress not to track ovulation this cycle. I should be somewhere in the tww at this stage though if my cycle went back to normal. not feeling lucky this cycle. I'm starting to regret not tracking because now af is going to sneak up on me! I usually only cramp in day 1-3, don't really get warning. I've been thinking back to this time last year when I had such a different outlook on ttc, I was always aware that it can be difficult but deep down I never believed that we would be so unlucky ☹️

NoseringGirl · 28/09/2019 18:12

@Mseddy sounds like a bit of a rollercoaster! I'm sorry you had to deal with someone being that insensitive but glad to hear you've got a plan in place. Keeping everything crossed for you!

@Lilzpk massive hugs to you lovely. It can be so emotionally draining. Be kind to yourself. I hope AF stays away altogether and doesn't do any sneaking up at all.

Another high on the digital OPK today as expected. My OPK strips arrived today as well and it was closer to positive than I expected for CD11. Hoping I'll ovulate within the next week. Is it bad that I considered deleting that sentence in case I jinxed myself?! Blush I feel like TTC has made me stupidly superstitious! I think it's the lack of control I have over it all.

OP posts:
Lilzpk · 28/09/2019 18:18

@NoseringGirl thank you. I might have missed it in previous posts, but have you stopped using the clearblue opk? I prefer the strips myself, with the PCOS I know I'm on flashing for ages till usually cd19/20. Hopefully the positive will happen soon

NoseringGirl · 28/09/2019 19:06

@Lilzpk I'm still using the clearblue ones as I had some left over and managed to buy a few extra sticks from eBay that'll hopefully get me through the cycle. Just got some strips as well to compare! I never seem to get proper positives on the strips but got a peak on the clearblue last cycle after 8 days of highs. I was close to giving up! It would've been interesting to see if I'd have got a proper positive on the strips when I got the peak last time.

OP posts:
dragonmummy17 · 28/09/2019 19:35

@Mseddy no wonder you are feeling a bit mixed up. I'm glad you have a plan though... fingers crossed
@Lilzpk sorry you have had such a rough time. Hope AF stays away
@NoseringGirl for me its superstitions over magpies. Hope that peak comes soon.
CD24 and no sign of AF. I think I might be due on Monday so it seems my cycles are lengthening again which is great. I got a frer today for tomorrow morning

impatientmammy · 28/09/2019 19:44

@dragonmummy17 Sorry to hear about your BFN I hope your doing ok
@Mseddy I think we're going to be ivf cycle buddies. I'm sorry about the news you've had (and how it was given) but it'll be nice to have someone going through the same thing.
@Lilzpk I totally get it I've had cycles when I havnt tracked and I do find it harder but lots of people find it to be a relief.
@NoseringGirl I cancelled on my friend the other day because she was on her period and I didn't want mine to come early 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ so I def get you with the superstitious malarcy.
