Created a new thread as the other one was full. Hope everyone finds it okay!!

Yammers thread 11!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

Hopefully they will investigate for you more than they did us. Even now I feel gutted we'll never know why x

Mseddy · 15/10/2019 15:28

@NoseringGirl so sorry to hear that. I really feel your pain. I work with babies too, and back before our no sperm diagnosis, if AF came at work I would be literally incapacitated. It's awful :( send lots Flowers x

Papertigers · 15/10/2019 16:09

Hi @dragonmummy17 yep I have a horrible feeling that’s what’s happened. I had huuuuge amounts of ewcm around the days my period should have been due so think it’s just a frustratingly late ovulation this month! @NoseringGirl sorry to hear about that. Keep your head up; every cycle is another chance x

dragonmummy17 · 15/10/2019 20:23

@NoseringGirl sorry that happened, especially at work. I hope you made it to the end of the day and are now at home being kind to yourself. You've had a really rough ride over the past few months

impatientmammy · 15/10/2019 21:04

Awww @NoseringGirl I'm so sorry I missed your post. Hope your home now eating a bar of chocolate. It must be really hard of you for those working with babies x

NoseringGirl · 15/10/2019 21:29

Thanks everyone, you're all wonderful and I don't know how I'd be getting through TTC without this lovely, supportive thread!

@dragonmummy17 how exciting to have your appointment so soon! I understand the fear setting in as well though. As I understand it, the treatment for secondary infertility on the NHS tends to involve testing and maybe ovulation induction like clomid if needed but I don't think anywhere covers things like IVF. Areas seem to vary so much for fertility treatment though! The thread I was on last time I was TTC had a couple of women who went abroad for IVF as it worked out a lot cheaper. Hopefully it won't come to that for you but worth looking at if it does?
I did manage to make it to the end of the day and rewarded myself with chocolate!

@marmitecheesetoast welcome, great name! I'm always the same in the TWW. My resolve to stay calm gradually dissolves and I'm a mess by the end!

@Papertigers welcome! I can relate with cycles like that, I've got quite a history of wacky cycles and the best thing for me has been very close tracking but I know that doesn't work for everyone. Hopefully it's just a one off for you and you get that BFP very soon!

@Mseddy thank you! It's so hard working with babies isn't it? I was literally holding a newborn when I felt that telltale feeling and went off to the loo to find AF had arrived. Felt like Mother Nature was being extra cruel!

@impatientmammy thank you, I've had lots of chocolate and am now tucked up with a hot water bottle.

I hope tomorrow's a better day @noseringgirl

My ivf is a similar cost of that abroad if anyone is sadly coming to that stage without nhs support abc costs 2500 and includes everything accept ICSI if needed and egg freezing. It's not a conventional ivf but it's worth researching x

marmitecheesetoast · 16/10/2019 07:58

Oh @NoseringGirl so sorry, sounds doubly hard with the work situation FlowersCake Hope today is a bit easier.
Thanks - love a bit of marmite and cheese! Grin

I’m now into the part of tww where despite my best efforts im symptom spotting everything. My boobs are killing me - I woke up in the night cos I’d rolled onto my front and it hurt. I know this is actually because my toddler has just weaned so that’s the real cause of the boob pain, but can’t help but get my hopes up about it Hmm

marmitecheesetoast · 16/10/2019 08:22

Deep down I know that I’m not because my cervix is as rock hard as the most I ripe of fruit! Any other cervix checkers in here?! Blush

Mseddy · 16/10/2019 10:44

@NoseringGirl the babies I work with are sick, so that's how I think I manage it, because they aren't happy healthy babies. I don't think I could work with well babies, that would hurt too much.

@marmitecheesetoast I used to be back before our azoospermia diagnosis, I haven't had a TWW since March now so I don't really need to. I'm sure after our IVF next month I'll be straught back to it! Mine drops significantly when I'm due on. It was always nice having a day or two to get my head around it bettor AF actually came.

marmitecheesetoast · 16/10/2019 11:33

That sounds tough @Mseddy, fingers crossed for next month. Yes absolutely it’s rubbish checking your cervix and finding it getting lower and more open but equally gives a bit of extra headspace before inevitable arrival of AF. I think I need to spot checking mine so often though I’m getting obsessed Blush

impatientmammy · 16/10/2019 11:43

My cervix confuses the hell out of me. The month I got a BFP it was high and hard but it has been on many bfn months. It seems to be open all the time; then this cycle I randomly checked it at 5dpo and it was still low soft and open 😑 I know it's not reliable at all for me but that doesn't seem to stop me 🙄 x

marmitecheesetoast · 16/10/2019 11:53

It’s so hard to resist isn’t it @impatientmammy I just want to know what’s going on and I am so impatient!

impatientmammy · 16/10/2019 12:58

I tend to get spotting a couple of days before @marmitecheesetoast when I don't I get a proper shock. The morning of af though I can now tell from my cervix which is nice cause I usually use a menstural cup. My ivf clinic has suggested using pads though which makes me wonder if it might somehow affect something 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

marmitecheesetoast · 16/10/2019 14:21

Oh really @impatientmammy that’s interesting, as I have switched to using a menstrual cup earlier this year 🤔

Mseddy · 16/10/2019 14:38

@marmitecheesetoast actually its been the opposite of tough the more I think about it! I've had a break from ttc (unintentionally obviously) but it's done wonders for my mental health the last 6 months to not have to go through the shitter that is the tww. It's made me feel refreshed before we start our IVF I guess. I'm absolutely dreading the return of the TWW this time though! With added pressure!

@impatientmammy that's really interesting about menstrual cup! I use one, have for the last 6 months or so. I might ask our nurse about it at our appt on Sunday. Don't want to use it this cycle if it's going to potentially cause issues! Did they mention anything about tampons? How's it going, have you started meds yet?

impatientmammy · 16/10/2019 15:55

We've been told not to use tampons either I have no idea why 🤷🏻‍♀️ x

impatientmammy · 16/10/2019 15:58

I start on my next cycle @Mseddy so around the 22nd. Will thins be your last tww before ivf ? X

Mseddy · 16/10/2019 16:53

@impatientmammy I wonder why that is, I'm definately going to ask about it at our nurse consultation because I don't want to take any risks on something as simple as tampons! I'm due to start on my next cycle too which should be around 24th. We are so close together! Yeah I'm technically in the TWW I guess, except I have 0% chance of pregnancy so I don't see it as the tww, just waiting for my period to come Smile we have our nurse consultation on Sunday to get our protocol and drugs sorted. Are you on long or short protocol? X

impatientmammy · 16/10/2019 21:46

@Mseddy I'm on short. Doing mild ivf so I start stims cycle day 2. What about you? X

impatientmammy · 16/10/2019 21:49

Also it's a really odd thing to suggest I feel like if it was anyone else I would have laughed at them. There was just so much information though. Maybe it's so you know exactly when the period start 🤔 I put my menstural cup in early so there's no supposes but it means I wouldn't know if it started before or after 12 x

NoseringGirl · 16/10/2019 21:53

@marmitecheesetoast I'm always checking my cervix! It changes so much though that the only time I feel confident knowing what it's doing is during my fertile window.

@Mseddy that must be a difficult job still! I tend to be around very new babies mostly, it's certainly difficult at the moment but mostly I manage to detach my own feelings if that makes sense?

@impatientmammy that's interesting about the pads rather than a cup. I wonder why that it? I'm a complete convert to my cup. I've been using it for around 6 years and don't think I could go back to anything else!

This AF is weird, it's much more painful than usual, and I tend to have painful periods anyway. I've been struggling to walk with the pain at some points today though. It's also lighter. It's definitely a period but today is CD2 which is usually very heavy and I've had about half the usual amount of bleeding so obviously I'm worrying that something is wrong!

OP posts:
dragonmummy17 · 16/10/2019 23:38

@marmitecheesetoast I can't work out my cervix... it feels the same all month. It usually comes down very low then goes back up slightly before AF
@impatientmammy I wonder if it's to do with a small infection risk? After my mc I was told pads only which I assumed was for that reason.
I love my cup... would never go back although I sometimes need to double up with a pad on my heaviest days so am thinking of trialling some period pants too (or not because even better if AF stays away!!)

Mseddy · 17/10/2019 16:30

@NoseringGirl I completely understand the detachment thing, I do it too! I guess I've gotten quite good at compartmentalising.

@impatientmammy what is mild ivf? I'll be on short protocol becuase I can't take the pill, but not exactly sure what our protocol will be until our nurse appt on Sunday

impatientmammy · 17/10/2019 19:37

So it's no pill like yours but also I think pos lower dosages hoping for less eggs but of better quality. I've attached a photo of my injection Callander minus the trigger x

I'm yammin' and I hope you like yammin' too
