Yammers thread 11!

Yammer rules:

A safe place for those of you who have been trying to conceive for 6+ months and even yams aren’t helping. Come and have a good ol’ bitch and a moan without judgement. Please read the rules before posting!

The Yam Commandments are as follows;

  • Thou shalt not arrive one day and post BFP next day
  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

-Thou shalt not post pictures of positive pregnancy tests. We will be delighted to hear about it but no photos, please and thank you

So I have a confession and if you guys don't get it I've crossed a line. I get married next year and if ivf works baby will be 3 weeks old this dickhead picked a sling and a dress out today (couldn't find a newborn boy outfit) 🤦🏻‍♀️ I feel like when I first started ttc again that 1st bfn was a right fucker and I'm scared x

Mseddy · 28/09/2019 20:00

@dragonmummy17 fingers crossed for your frer tomorrow!

@impatientmammy it will be really nice to have someone to go through it with. And I've done exactly the same as you with dates, it's impossible not to! And I was literally saying the same thing to one of the girls at work today. I feel like I've had 6 months away from the stress of BFN waiting for our treatment to start, but now I'm terrified to be back in the land of no control!
I can also confess to the same thing!! I may have bought a few bits in the next sale. I managed to make it seem less insane by telling myself i can always give them to friends who are having babies and I'm just being prepared!! they are 100‰ for us and I couldn't give them away if my life depended on it so you've not crossed a line I haven't already been over!!

dragonmummy17 · 28/09/2019 20:08

@impatientmammy I totally get that. I think we have to believe, and some months we feel more hopeful than others. I think you have to do whatever it takes to get you through this... and this sounds like a lovely thing to do

NoseringGirl · 28/09/2019 20:26

@dragonmummy17 I'm the same with magpies! I love them though and have two tattooed on my back. Good luck with the FRER in the morning!

@impatientmammy haha got to be careful of those contagious periods! I can totally relate to the planning ahead. I'm always working out what potential due dates would be and day dreaming about them. I think it's good to keep that hope alive and I don't think anyone can blame you for hanging onto that feeling when going into IVF.

OP posts:
impatientmammy · 28/09/2019 20:46

@NoseringGirl I've herd that when your in close friendships cycles can sync and we spend a lot of time together 🙈🤷🏻‍♀️😂 ahh I find out due date every month too
@Mseddy it's such a relief to hear your doing the same and I'm pleased your feeling positive when's your AF due? I've never been more excited for a period 🙄
How you feeling about your cycle @dragonmummy17 x

NoseringGirl · 28/09/2019 21:18

@impatientmammy me and my best mate live 300 miles apart but our cycles were synced this month. We were very pleased with ourselves Grin

OP posts:
Mseddy · 28/09/2019 22:03

@impatientmammy I'm cycle day 2 today so I'm due on again 26th October. We have our nurse consult on 20th to get out plan :) I think this current cycle im on is going to drag!!

@NoseringGirl that's cool about you and your best friend! I'm literally petrified of my best friend at the moment which is making me sad. She got married a few months ago and I feel like every day is just waiting for the inevitable pregnancy announcement. She knows what I'm going through so I don't think she would tel me when they start trying to try and protect me a little. It's so hard sometimes just trying to keep a normal life!

impatientmammy · 28/09/2019 22:15

@NoseringGirl that's true love right there 😂
@Mseddy I'm due on the 22nd and I know I'm only cycle day 5 and it's dragging already. We're having out consultation on the 10th before my other half goes back to sea so at least that should break things up. He's also got seaman testing on Monday to see if we need ICSI as well but I'm really hoping not as it's so expensive x

NoseringGirl · 28/09/2019 22:45

@Mseddy I can totally relate to that. My closest friend locally is TTC and I know I'll get that baby bomb any day now. It's horrible to have that constant thought at the back of your mind. It's good that your friend knows what you're going through and will be sensitive to it at least!

OP posts:
dragonmummy17 · 29/09/2019 13:25

@Mseddy I totally get that too although in my case its DSis. Every time she rings I'm waiting for the baby bomb.
BFN on the frer this morning. I actually had a dream just before of getting a bfp, woke up at 3.30 feeling really happy, then remembered I actually hadn't done it yet. So if course I got straight up then to do it in case I had some sort of premonition and then felt really cheesed off with the bfn that appeared! CD25 which is a really long cycle for me... I want AF to come now so we can start again

impatientmammy · 29/09/2019 13:45

Oh wow @dragonmummy17 your cycles are shorter than mine. How longs your luteal phase? X

NoseringGirl · 29/09/2019 14:21

@dragonmummy17 so sorry for the BFN, it's never nice to see!

OP posts:
Mseddy · 29/09/2019 18:21

@NoseringGirl its not a nice feeling thinking you're at risk of being baby bombed in every conversation with your friend! I can't wait to not feel like that and be excited when my friend rings me rather than anxious! @dragonmummy17 I can't even begin to imagine what it must feel like with your Dsis. I'm sorry about your BFN and the dream of a BFP, that really sucks. I'd say your not out until the witch shows, but i know how unhelpful that sentiment can be sometimes when you just want to grieve for another month gone.

@impatientmammy the 10th isn't far away so that really should break things up for you Smile I have another AFC baseline scan on 15th, not really sure why they bothered with the first one if they were going to want to repeat it right before we start regardless. Anyway my first one wasn't great with only 9 follicles, so I'm hoping for an improvement this time! I'm not even sure if that's possible! I was having a one off crazy out of sync cycle when they scanned me so I'm hoping that might have affected my count somehow and this time around it'll be better. I know I'm clutching at straws but I feel like that's a theme of our journey so far!! Fingers crossed for your sperm analysis, I hope you don't have to have ICSI, you're right its alot more expensive!

impatientmammy · 30/09/2019 19:43

How long ago was your first one @Mseddy?
Got a phone call to put a deposit down for treatment today and go over what I need to take to the next appointment. I'm so excited to get going. I think it took me a couple of days to get my head around the numbers and I'm sure I'll be up and down though trying to remain as positive and excited as possible to combat stress x

Ree91 · 01/10/2019 18:53

Been a busy couple of days sorry ive not been very active, but dp had his sa back today and all is well with him! Very bitter sweet because that's one step closer to a potential bfp, but also aware that the chances of there being something wrong with me has significantly increased so that was a bitter sweet pill to swallow!

@lilzpk so sorry to hear of your loss x

@impatientmammy that's amazing news about the deposit for treatment, lots of luck to You! X

@NoseringGirl funny you mention about cycles syncing mine always appear to do it with 1 of my friends haha, every 2 to 3 months we sync and we were talking about it the other day!

@dragonmummy17 sorry to hear about the bfn, they never get easier do they x

Hope everyone else is all okay too Smile anyone else having an is it Friday yet day haha x

NoseringGirl · 01/10/2019 20:15

@impatientmammy I bet it's all starting to seem very real! So excited for you!

@Mseddy good luck with the baseline scan, hope all goes well.

@Ree91 great news about the SA, I can understand the bitter sweet feelings though. What are the next steps for you now?

Still on the flashing smiley here but the strip test is looking very, very close to positive so hoping I'll get a peak soon and have another ovulatory cycle. Also lost just over a stone in weight as well which I'm sure is helping!

OP posts:
Ree91 · 01/10/2019 20:47

@NoseringGirl 1 stone! That is amazing well done Grin willpower game is strong! Im still waiting for my gynae appointment at the fertility clinic, so not too sure what the next steps are to tell the truth...hopefully you'll get a positive tomorrow! X

I wonder can any of you ladies shed some light? If I do ovulate and dp works as normal, presumably they would test the quality of my eggs first? Or would they launch straight into treatment? It's a minefield isn't it! X

NoseringGirl · 01/10/2019 21:00

@Ree91 I think the clinics often repeat the blood tests if they've not been done recently and then do things like HSGs to look for tube blockages before moving onto any treatment.

OP posts:
Ree91 · 01/10/2019 21:03

@NoseringGirl I had a laparoscopy when I was younger for suspected endo but it was never diagnosed and they didn't report any problems, is it possible that tubes can become blocked over time do you think? X

NoseringGirl · 01/10/2019 22:03

@Ree91 I'm honestly not sure! I had a lap when I was younger for suspected endo too, but have still had scans since to check my ovaries. Never had an hsg but the gynaecologist did mention it last time around as he was considering putting me on clomid again but I fell pregnant with DS2 just beforehand!

OP posts:
Ree91 · 01/10/2019 22:51

@noseringgirl ahh okay, hopefully for both our sakes our laps are still clear Smile I think it's completely unfair how easy men's testing is on another note! Why is never that easy for women eh...

NoseringGirl · 01/10/2019 23:03

@Ree91 completely agree, so much less invasive for them!!

OP posts:
Ree91 · 01/10/2019 23:13

@noseringgirl do you remember how long you waited for your first fertility appt? Mine's coming upto nearly 3 months since gp referral and I still don't have a date...i love the nhs but gosh it's hard work too! X

NoseringGirl · 01/10/2019 23:24

@Ree91 I had a bit of a nightmare with mine! I'd been bleeding for about 8 weeks which is the main reason my GP had referred me to the gynaecologist but we'd also been TTC for over a year. The area I'm in used a private company to check referrals and they turned it down so my GP had to appeal it! I think I was seen within a month once the appeal went through. I was sent for a scan first and then saw the gynaecologist about a week later and was diagnosed with PCOS. He prescribed metformin and made an appointment for me to go back after 3 months to discuss clomid but found out I was pregnant with DS2 about a week before that.
I had a referral in for the fertility clinic when TTC DS1 as well but my GP prescribed clomid while waiting for it to go through (which I've since found out is really unusual). The wait was definitely longer then as I got through all 3 rounds of clomid before they even sent an appointment and was pregnant on the third round.

OP posts:
impatientmammy · 02/10/2019 10:05

Your gp sounds good @NoseringGirl
I think our experience was a bit diferent @Ree91 we already have a child so just had blood test and seaman analasys and the dr advised some ivf clinics to contact when they both came back. I was impatient and researched cost there was only one we could afford and so I had my internal with them to cut costs and so we're going straight down that route no ones ever found any problems accept higher thyroid stimulating hormone which my gp was happy to ignore. I hope you do t need to wait too long it's been really interesting reading everyone's experiences because my gp left me under the opinion this would have been the route for me anyway as it's only the ivf we don't meet funding criteria for. I can understand how your feeling about the SA results hope your feeling slightly better about it today.
My OH had his seaman test yesterday they've said results will be 7 days which is on time for our treatment consultation 😆.
