CD1 - This is our month!

Hi All,

So after the very disappointing arrival of AF this morning I am now on CD1.

I'm 34 (35 next month) and TTC #1. I have PCOS and have been referred to FC which I will be attending soon. However, I really want to fall naturally before I have to go through all of the tests etc.

Last month we tried SMEP (however we didn't manage to follow it to the letter). This month we will be doing it again (properly).

Due to O CD18 of a 32 day cycle and AF due 13th October. I won't be testing before then as I've tested early every month with FRER and the cost and disappointment of seeing repeated BFNs is not worth it.

If anyone is at the beginning of their cycle and wants some company over the next few weeks then feel free to join! Wishing everyone the best of luck x

Hi lovely!

Hope you're OK!

I'm 25 and I'm on CD2, after the dreaded AF arrival 🙄 I have a 27/28 day cycle. Has it been a long journey for you so far?

I've seen so much about SMEP and so many BFP's that have come out of it too on here!! So fingers crossed it'll work for you and be your month 🥰. We're just trying every other day, and as an when we're feeling it!

Sending you lots of baby dust x

Each2TheirOwn · 12/09/2019 12:14

Hi @Izzie94 hope you're well! Are you trying for your first? We've been trying since we got married last 🙈 have you been trying long?

Every other day sounds like a good plan, that's more or less SMEP (without the 3 days in a row - which are tiring) lol.

I'm really hoping this is the month for both of us as we would have had our 12 week scans a couple of weeks before Christmas which would be perfect time for announcing it ❤️

I'm getting carried away with myself, I know! Lol x

Hi everyone @Each2TheirOwn @Izzie94 I’m new to MN and also new to TTC. 32 next month and trying for baby number one. ❤️

I have irregular periods so finding it a bit hard to keep track of it all 🙈

Izzie94 · 12/09/2019 12:33

@Each2TheirOwn Yes! Trying for number 1 and naively just thought it would happen straight away, pretty sure most my friends babies were happy accidents 🙈 I'm on month 6 after 10 long years on my pill!

Hahaha, it seems so fun at first and it's great but 3 nights in a row is so tiring 😂 oh my, I do that all the time!! Would be the perfect time for an announcement I keep thinking about ways I'd do it at Christmas it's terrible isn't it!! 🙊 Fingers crossed its our month 🤞

Hey @Happythoughts123 I'm also new to MN! Ahhh, I bet. Have you tried OPK'S? I read that a lot of ladies on here do and find it really useless, I'm yet to try them but may do in a few months if I'm still unsuccessful. I was just trying to take the most chilled approach possible.. But it consumes you🙈 Lol! Here's hoping for us ❤️

Skyla01 · 12/09/2019 12:36

Hi, I'd like to join you! I'm 32, ttc number 1. I'm cd7 of cycle 5. Tried smep the last 2 cycles, going to keep going with it. My cycles have been gradually regulating since I stopped the pill in March. Was disappointed to see AF this month, but very happy with a 32 day cycle. Finally in the normal range! Last cycle I didn't ovulate until cd20 so still got a while to wait.

How long has everyone else been trying for?

Izzie94 · 12/09/2019 12:42

Hey @Skyla01 😊

How are you finding SMEP? Seen so many ladies say how good (but tiring) it is but least you're covering all aspects! I also came off my pill back in Feb/March, luckily my periods regulated very quickly 27-28 day cycles, but AF isn't half as bad as what I remember and it's very light! Unless my body is still adjusting.

Im on CD2 of cycle 6 for #1 🥰! Was convinced last month was my month, but keeping a relaxed approach (or trying!) sending lots of luck to you in this month! X

MotherOfShihTzus · 12/09/2019 14:15

@Each2TheirOwn your cycle sounds identical to mine!! I'm 33. 34 next month, currently waiting out cycle 19 for the inevitable arrival of AF. Currently having all the fertility tests, and like you, desperately hoping to conceive before IVF. Just discovered a fibroid. I'm here to hopefully see some encouraging BPFs :)

Skyla01 · 12/09/2019 15:31

@Izzie94 I really like smep because you know you are definitely DTD at the right time, and maximising ttc chances. I don't find it too much hard work. My OH and I are lucky we don't shift work or work away, and we're both happy to do lots of DTD to make a baby! This will be our 3rd cycle trying smep so I hope it works soon!

Sounds like we're similar- I'm almost 6 months in too. It's a shame we haven't become pregnant straight away like lots of my friends too. But we just have to keep trying! I'm trying not to think too much about being pregnant by Xmas. That would be amazing but don't want to get my hopes up too much.

Each2TheirOwn · 12/09/2019 16:17

Hi All - @Izzie94 @Happythoughts123 @Skyla01 @MotherOfShihTzus

Good to have you all on board so we can wait this out together 😊 Seems like we are mostly all of similar ages too!

My cycles have previously been all over the place, anything from 29 - 44 days but the lasts 4 months have been 32, 32, 30, 31 so I'm hoping that this the new norm 🤞🏼 I've used OPKs for the last 2 cycles and had my positives/peaks on CD17 & 18 so I'm assuming I O either CD18 or 19 giving me a 13/14 day LP which is great 👍🏼

I tried Pregancare Conception for a while but they gave me wicked heartburn so I stopped. Now I just take 400mg folic acid each day.

I can't wait to see some BFPs on this thread - I love a picture of 2 lines 😍

When is everyone planning on testing? I'm going for 14th October (assuming AF doesn't show up on 13th) seems AGES away 😩 x

Happythoughts123 · 12/09/2019 16:32

@Each2TheirOwn @Izzie94 I’ve been using opks too but yet to pick up ovulation. My cycles are really irregular due to thyroid issues, can be as long as 35 days or as short as 23!

AF due in 6 days....so guess I’ll test then if i can hold off. Had a little bit of spotting today though so may be a short cycle this month 💔 really hoping to see some bfp on this thread - hoping for you all xx hello @Skyla01@MotherOfShihTzus 😀

catsandkid · 12/09/2019 16:59

I'll join! I'm CD2 and have irregular cycles, but usually around 32 days and I tend to Ov around CD18 too!

I've got a busy month so planning to go with the flow this month rather than follow SMEP though!

Skyla01 · 12/09/2019 20:06

@Each2TheirOwn my cycles are still irregular after the pill so once I get a positive opk I'll work out when AF is due. But according to Flo I'm due 8th October. I don't like to test early. Every month I dream of testing once I'm a day or two late but my AF always comes on time, or even early just to rub it in! Sounds like your cycles are fairly regular now, I hope they stay that way.

GoldLeafTree · 12/09/2019 20:11

Hello again!

AF arrived yesterday ( about 6 days earlier than I was expecting so looks like I had my dates all wrong anyway! )

Ready for cycle 2, today I picked up Pregnacare conception and some FRERS. Trying out SMEP this month.

Hoping for BFP for you all Flowers would be so lovely to be able to announce at Christmas time

Happythoughts123 · 13/09/2019 06:22

Ok so what I thought was the start of my period yesterday has completely gone. Only spotting in the morning then nothing. I’ve never had spotting before which is a bit worrying. 🙈 also what do you guys use to track your ovulation I’m having no luck with ovulation sticks.
Have a good Friday everyone x

Each2TheirOwn · 13/09/2019 07:52

Morning All,

Welcome @catsandkid x

@Happythoughts123 I've used One Step and Ovaview ovulation sticks and as long as I test twice a day (late morning/early afternoon and again late afternoon/early evening) then I can see the line progressing. I start testing from CD12. A lot of people track O by temping BBT. I tried it but didn't work for me as you have to do it as soo. As you wake each day (at roughly the same time everyday) and after at least 3hrs sleep. My sleep pattern isn't consistent enough to get a try curve x

@Skyla01 I know how you feel. I didn't have my usual pre-AF spotting this month so was so excited to test the day AF was due (I had no indication she was coming) but just as I was about to open the test I noticed she'd arrived so didn't get the chance 😔
Hopeful this month she will stay away for all of us 🤞🏼 x

@GoldLeafTree how are you? Sorry to hear AF showed up early! Did you get the appendicitis sorted? X

Izzie94 · 13/09/2019 08:07

Morning ladies! Happy Friday ☺️ unless you work weekends then, not so happy lol!! And welcome newbies 😋

@Happythoughts123 could it be implantation? How many dpo are you? 😁 Keeping my fingers and toes crossed!!! I just try and know my body, little twinges (albeit could be anything twinging 😅) I've seen a lot of ladies on here temp too, but I always get up in the night for a wee or I'm a bit restless so don't think that would work with me! X

Happythoughts123 · 13/09/2019 08:37

@izzie94 I’m 9 dpo today according to my app. I have no idea if that is accurate though as opks didn’t show ovulation all through my fertile week...I assumed I hadn’t ovulated and was out this month.
It is really unusual for me to spot though, hence why I thought AF was coming, but I’ve had no cramps like I usually do before AF. Does any one know what implantation bleed is like? Yesterday I had fairly bright red/pink blood when I wiped once but then that was it.

I’m going to start tracking temps this month I think or have totes with the idea of a clear blue monitor. @Each2TheirOwn thanks for ovulation tracking advice - perhaps will try the brands you suggest as I’ve only used cheap ones off amazon!

Skyla01 · 13/09/2019 09:14

@Happythoughts123 for the past two cycles I have used cb digital opk. You just test once a day with fmu. Both cycles they have worked and given me indication of high and peak fertility (they track oestrogen and LH levels). I found them really good and easy to use and read result. Especially useful as my cycles have been a bit irregular since stopping the pill. I still have a box left so I'll keep using them but once I have a regular cycle I might stop.

Downside is that they are expensive. I think it would be worth investing for a cycle or two to see when you ovulate.

Another option might be to DTD every other day right through the middle of your cycle e.g. CD 10 to 20 or so. Then you won't miss it!

Sardi28 · 13/09/2019 09:57

Morning Ladies!!
Can I join please? 😌
TTC #2 I'm 32 and on CD 3 . Felt a bit down in the dumps these past few days but going to try and look after myself this month.

My son is 3, he's just started school. So plenty to keep me busy 👍🏻👍🏻

Xx

Happythoughts123 · 13/09/2019 10:18

Hi @Sardi28 welcome 🤗

Happythoughts123 · 13/09/2019 11:32

@Skyla01thanks for the cab digital opk recommendation. I’ve just been using cheapies and it hasn’t picked up anything.

Haha well this cycle we did try to DTD every other day during my fertile week to try and catch it - although as cycles can be long or short I may have missed it anyway!

Still no sign of AF after spotting yesterday. 🤔

How long have you all been trying? We are only on cycle 3 xxx

Izzie94 · 13/09/2019 12:27

@Happythoughts123 are you recently off any contraceptive at all? I found although my cycles have been quite regular around 27-28 days, my periods have been quite different to what I remember. First few months I had odd spotting! This month my AF lasted like a day and a half 😑 and I don't think the doctors will do much unless it's been around a year! But I'm half tempted to go anyway. Fingers crossed its implantation 🤞🥰 not out until AF shows!! I'm now around month 6, was unwell one month though so DTD was put on hold, as much as I tried 😂 xx

Welcome @Sardi28 I felt the same this month! But feeling a bit more positive now and the ladies in these chats really help 😊 x

AdalbertWaffling · 13/09/2019 12:36

Hello, can I join please? Smile
I'm 29, TTC #1. Currently on CD1 too, cycle 4. Last month was the first month using OPKs and I ovulated way later than I thought I would, which may be why my last cycle was 30 days rather than the usual 28. This month I'll be trying SMEP as well as OPKs!! It will be nice to have some other people on here going through the same thing :)

Each2TheirOwn · 13/09/2019 12:40

@Happythoughts123 I had 2 days off very light spotting last weekend which didn't turn into anything, then when I was nearing AF my usual spotting was nowhere to be seen so I genuinely thought it was implantation bleeding and got so excited. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me and AF showed up unannounced yesterday😔 I'm hoping that's not the case for you as it does sound very much like it could be IB 🤞🏼 x

blackpinkinyourarea · 13/09/2019 12:44

Hi @Each2TheirOwn, i am now on CD1 so figured i'd join you on here Smile i dont know whether to class this as cycle 2 or cycle 1 as it is my first proper cycle after coming off the implant. I am very excited to start using OPKs soon and hopefully see a positive one as my main fear is my ovaries wont get back to ovulating again after hibernating for 9years Shock
