Hi All,

So after the very disappointing arrival of AF this morning I am now on CD1.

I'm 34 (35 next month) and TTC #1. I have PCOS and have been referred to FC which I will be attending soon. However, I really want to fall naturally before I have to go through all of the tests etc.

Last month we tried SMEP (however we didn't manage to follow it to the letter). This month we will be doing it again (properly).

Due to O CD18 of a 32 day cycle and AF due 13th October. I won't be testing before then as I've tested early every month with FRER and the cost and disappointment of seeing repeated BFNs is not worth it.

If anyone is at the beginning of their cycle and wants some company over the next few weeks then feel free to join! Wishing everyone the best of luck x

Hi all,

I'm trying to conceive number 2, came off the pill 1st July, have had 2 cycles of 29 then 33 days. This month we are DTD every other day. It's exhausting but I'm feeling hopeful! Not doing OPK's as think it will stress me out, imagining I will ovulate between day 15-19 so with every other day I can't go far wrong!!

Sardi28 · 13/09/2019 13:20

Can someone tell me please, what is SMEP?

MotherOfShihTzus · 13/09/2019 13:30

Sperm Meets Egg Plan; basically dtd every other day post period or soon after, to ensure there's always sperm ready to meet your egg when ovulating - I think!

Happythoughts123 · 13/09/2019 14:01

Izzie94 I came off the pill about 6 years ago and have been careful since, so it can’t be that. Think I may make a doctors appointment as AF was 5 days late last month and looking like it will be early this month with the spotting. Since my message earlier have had tiny bit of blood - so defo think it’s early AF rather than implantation. 😥

@Each2TheirOwn I know how you feel this unusual spotting has really thrown me off. I darent let myself dream that it might be implantation as I can imagine the disappointment when AF turns up.

Hi to @AdalbertWaffling and others who have joined Smile

Polishedpebble1 · 13/09/2019 19:03

Hi everyone Grin

I am cycle #4
CD5 AF due 11th Oct
TTC number 1

I'm currently waiting for a bunch of CB OPKs to arrive, anyone using/used them?

AdalbertWaffling · 13/09/2019 22:43

@Sardi28 SMEP (Sperm Meets Egg Plan) is DTD every other day up until you get a positive OPK (ovulation predictor kit, you can get them cheap on Amazon), which means you will ovulate in the next 24-48 hours (I think!), so you then DTD for the next three days in a row. It says you then have one day off, and then DTD again "for luck"!

Apparently it's supposed to have good outcomes, as it basically means that if you ovulate earlier or later then expected, or miss it on the OPKs (which is very possible), there should always be speed there to meet the egg when it's released Smile

AdalbertWaffling · 13/09/2019 22:45

Sperm, not speed!

Each2TheirOwn · 14/09/2019 08:38

@blackpinkinyourarea Welcome! Don't worry, it might take a couple of months for your cycles to regulate but they will 👍🏼 wishing you all the luck for this month x

@Happythoughts123 I really hope it was implantation for you and you get your BFP very soon x

@Polishedpebble1 I have used the advanced cb opk the past 2 cycles. They've worked well for me & really easy to use. I think you'll get on well with them!

I've also been doing smep (or a slightly modified version), this will be our 3rd cycle of it. As others have said you basically DTD a lot, especially around ovulation. But I think sometimes we don't ovulate exactly when we think, so with smep you are still covered. Hasn't worked for us yet, but we're going to keep going with it. I would recommend!

teachermam · 14/09/2019 12:40

Here we go
I'm in cd 2
Was convinced I was pregnant this month

Oh well

Polishedpebble1 · 14/09/2019 12:41

Thanks @Skyla01 they arrived this morning so will start using them next week I think.

Hopefully we will see some BFPs in here!Grin

Happythoughts123 · 14/09/2019 12:56

Thank you @Each2TheirOwn still no sign of AF - not technically due til Wednesday, but 2 days of spotting and now nothing except discoloured discharge. I’m trying so hard not to listen to the tiny voice inside that is telling me this is implantation. So tempted to test but I think it will just break my heart and AF will probably turn up anyway.

Definitely going to try some cb opks this month too @Polishedpebble1

Hope everyone is having a fab weekend!

Skyla01 · 14/09/2019 13:57

@teachermam how long have you been trying?

And yes hopefully lots of bfps in a few weeks!

teachermam · 14/09/2019 14:58

@Skyla01 11 cycles

Had a chemical at 5 weeks on 6th cycle

And now going into my 6th cycle since then
Started trying January 19

Polishedpebble1 · 14/09/2019 16:59

@happythoughts123 let me know how you got on. I thought I bought the ones that go from flashing to static smileys but I just checked and it's either a smiley or no smiley at all whoops hopefully they'll do the job nonetheless!

Skyla01 · 14/09/2019 17:27

@teachermam best of luck this cycle!

@Polishedpebble1 the static smiley is the important bit so I think you'll be fine! The flashing smileys aren't much use for anything, although I guess it's better than seeing a blank.

Polishedpebble1 · 14/09/2019 17:50

Thanks @skyla01 I was thinking that having the flashing ones would make sure I didn't miss the surge but I have cheapies to use as well if needs be!

Sardi28 · 14/09/2019 18:25

@AdalbertWaffling 😂😂😂😂 Speed

MrssC92 · 14/09/2019 21:50

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining
Cylce #4
CD 5
Af due 12 October (34 day cycles!)
Had a chemical pregnancy on cycle #2, so really hoping this month is our month. Anyone else drive themselves crazy with how much they want a baby?! These 34 day cycles seem to make a bfn even harder knowing I have to wait longer than most to try again.

Happythoughts123 · 14/09/2019 23:32

Hello @MrssC92 😀👋🏼 I know what you mean about longer cycles making it difficult. My cycles are irregular and sometimes 34-35 days too. It’s only a few days, but when it’s all you can think about, it seems like forever !

Happythoughts123 · 15/09/2019 09:01

I caved and did a FRER this morning....bfn.
I guess the spotting was obviously just my body playing tricks on me and not IB. 😥

Each2TheirOwn · 15/09/2019 20:06

@Happythoughts123 Sorry to hear that 😔 that's exactly what happened to me! Best of luck for this cycle 🤞🏼 I'm CD4 now so still a long way to go but I'm feeling positive (for all of us). A BFP in October would be perfect timing for a Christmas announcement 😁 x

Happythoughts123 · 15/09/2019 20:12

After a crap morning I’m now feeling positive too ☺️ Got my cb ovulation tests so ready for next cycle!

AF showed up this afternoon - 3 days early so now officially CD1! Ready for an xmas announcement
❤️ Fingers crossed for us all ❤️

Sardi28 · 15/09/2019 21:53

Ah I'm sorry @Happythoughts123 💐💐

Izzie94 · 16/09/2019 09:23

Morning ladies,

Sorry I've been MIA over the weekend, it was a really busy one for me and was nice to put my phone down for longer than a few hours!

@Happythoughts123 so sorry AF arrived, I always find the first few days of AF really tough then all of a sudden I'm positive again with hope of a new month!! 🥰

How's everyone else getting on? I'm now on CD6, and it's dragging its heels to fertile week for me!! But DTD has begun already 🤞 x
