October bus

Raizelrea · 05/09/2019 14:02

Haven't seen an October bus yet so I figured I'd start one as AF showed up today for me.

TTC 1
Cycle 3
Age 31
AF due around 5 October

7 October is my birthday so would not be opposed to a bit of a present in the form of a BFP 😄

Not sure yet if I'll do anything special this cycle other than taking follic acid and DTD, contemplating buying Clear Blue OPKs though I'm hoping to stay as relaxed as possible (completely failed at that last cycle and obsessed about everything so hopefully I got that out of my system...)

@Doubl Thank you! Not too bad, I'm trying Clearblue OPKs this cycle to stop me from overanalysing my CM so we shall see how that goes. I'm just glad AF has finished! What about you?

Hi everyone, can I join?

Age 35
TTC first baby
Came off microgynon in July
Had with drawl bleed 5 days later and then normal period 28 days after that (which I was surprised at as expected to have to wait longer)

Have AVA bracelet for two cycles but it doesn’t seem to be predicting ovulation correctly

Been using OPKs for last few days as was supposed to ovulate on Tuesday (according to AVA) but nothing according to OPKs

I’m now on CD18 so guessing Iv already ovulated and AF due 24th Sept.

Polishedpebble1 · 13/09/2019 18:51

Hope I'm not too late!

TTC #1
Cycle 4 CD 5
Age 26

I have hypothyroidism which I'm due to have reviewed this month so hopefully it's all under control. I also bought some CB OPKs as we have been DTD regularly each cycle but my cycles are long and irregular (39, 38 and 31).

Wishing you all lots of luck this month!Grin

Doubl · 13/09/2019 19:34

@Raizelrea good idea! Though I think I'll find anything to overanalyse during this journey 😁 me too on AF and it's going okay, I'm trying to get to grips with opks tbh, I didn't realise about when is best to do them and the length of time you can get a positive, I thought they'd be as easy as a pregnancy test 😂

Doubl · 13/09/2019 19:39

@Rosabuddy @Polishedpebble1

Welcome to the thread and good luck to you both! Let's hope the opks bring some clarity to us all 😁

Polishedpebble1 · 13/09/2019 20:10

Thanks @Doubl!

What do you guys know about ovulation testing? I've never used anything to test before. I've bought CB and some cheapies as my cycles are loooong! Is there a best time, how often do you use them and how do I know it's time to DTD?

Raizelrea · 13/09/2019 21:00

Welcome to the newbies 😊

Re OPKs I'm only just starting to use the Clear Blue ones, which you are meant to do first thing in the morning, at least until you get the fertile result, at which point you can do another in the afternoon as well to make sure you don't miss peak. The reasoning behind it is supposedly because the fertile result (flashing smiley) is based on estrogen rising, and estrogen is mainly present is easiest to detect in the morning, whereas the peak result (static smiley) is based on the luteinising hormone that you produce 1-2 days before ovulation, and many women tend to have a peak of this in the afternoon. At least that's how I understand it!

For traditional OPKs I think they typically suggest to use them in the afternoon. Whichever it is if you're testing in the afternoon you're meant to hold your wee for at least two hours to get a clear result (I read 4 hours but that's never going to happen for me! I think may stick to testing in the morning only on my CB in general as it's less hassle and stress)

Polishedpebble1 · 13/09/2019 21:40

Thanks @Raizelrea I didn't know that! I feel like we DTD enough the last few cycles that it doesn't really matter to test but I want to know for my own sanity that I am actually ovulating...

Hopefully they give us all a good chance anyways!

Raizelrea · 13/09/2019 23:00

@@Polishedpebble1 Same! I want some reassurance I'm ovulating, and I am curious to see if my fertile window is around the time projected on my app or completely different. I don't think I'll do OPKs for longer than one or two cycles though! Hopefully we'll both have reassuring results, or better yet a BFP 😊

OP posts:
Polishedpebble1 · 14/09/2019 08:45

@Raizelrea yep sounds like we're in the same boat! When is you AF due? Mines around 11th Oct seems a long way away right now Hmm how nice it would be to see some BFPs in here come October! Grin

Raizelrea · 14/09/2019 18:26

@Polishedpebble1 I think mine's due around the 5th October so about a week before you - though I saw you said your cycles can be irregular, did you come off the pill recently? If they've been 39, 38 and 31 it might just be settling to a more regular cycle now?

Mind you my cycles aren't perfectly regular either, usually it's between 29 and 31 days but can be a day shorter or a day longer. I've noticed that I seem to alternate between a slightly longer and a slightly shorter cycle (so it's more consistent every other month) - wonder if that means one of my ovaries is slightly slower to ovulate!

OP posts:
Polishedpebble1 · 14/09/2019 20:07

@Raizelrea I stopped taking the mini pill May 29th took 30+ days to have my first bleed then 39, now down to 31 so maybe it is just settling down, I hope that's the case anyways! Last cycle I started to exercise more and eat healthier so maybe that's had an effect.

How interesting about the alternating cycles! I hadn't considered that being possible Shock do you have an idea of when in your cycle you ovulate? I was dead certain last month that I had all of the symptoms of ovulation cd21 then at cd26 I got them all again but even worse so who knows if it was cd26 my period was only 5 days later which from what I've read is not ideal Confused

Sammyclaire22 · 14/09/2019 21:49

Hi everyone!
TTC #2
Cycle 1
AF due 2nd Oct
Can't remember what CD stands for!

Bit of history- my first pregnancy was ectopic and pretty traumatic, then we got pregnant again a couple of weeks later. DD is now one and it's been a mad year with colic, reflux and epilepsy investigations.
Now things are finally more settled we at the point where we are thinking of trying again, obviously age and only having one fallopian tube doesn't work in our favour (and ttc for a year before conceiving at all first time) so expecting that this may be a long and possibly fruitless journey.

Anyway, we still haven't actually dtd since DD arrived... he works shifts/ I had no sleep for months on end etc etc but we are going on holiday next week and hoping to reconnect physically and I'm due to ovulate a couple of days in so who knows? Come on right ovary!!

Treaclepie19 · 14/09/2019 22:08

Hi all!
Can I hop on? My period hasn't even arrived yet but we haven't ttc this month so it's just a waiting game.

29, have one 4 year old and we lost a little boy in December (termination for medical reasons)
After speaking to the genetics team properly we're embarking on this crazy journey and hoping for the best.
There's no reason we should have another baby with the same chromosomal issue but then, there was less than 1% chance the first time round (same as everyone)

Hey ho, hi!

Tamalama · 15/09/2019 08:55

Hi, can I join please?
Age- 38
TCC #2
Cycle 7 (although I only used opks properly on Cycle 5
AF Due 8th October

Hi all, I've been on the monthly buses since May... Currently in the middle of AF but supposedly fertile period is due to start 19th Sept.

Blossomingflower94 · 15/09/2019 09:27

Having such a mare with OPK's at the moment. I brought clear blue this month to try and make my life easier but so far they are just annoying me. On day 6 of 'high' fertility with the two lines gradually getting darker over the past few days (i know clear blue say don't read the lines) but still a flashing smiley face. I took an extra one yesterday afternoon so I don't miss the LH surge. That was flashing and so was the one this morning.

Now im all out of tests and need to go buy some more - even though its pretty hopeless as me and DP won't see each other now for 3-4 days :(

Guessing what I'm asking is does anyone have anything good to say about clear blue OPKs?

KLNM89 · 15/09/2019 12:29

Hi ladies, hope you are all having a good week.

Went out for dinner with the OH last night and in the middle of a busy fancy restaurant, after a couple of drinks, that's when I found myself explaining about EWCM 😂

I'm on cd8, one app says I'm ovulating today, another days next Sunday so I'm going to listen to my body. OPK scare me a bit, maybe next month

SMiles14 · 15/09/2019 13:26

Heya, coming over from the September bus as af has arrived today 😩, so I'm cd1, cycles are a little irregular but I think I'm looking at O on the last weekend of September and af 14th of October. Going to be trying SMEP again this month.
Good luck ladies 😁

SMiles14 · 15/09/2019 13:28

Ooh also I want to get the clear blue opk thing this month but every time I go and look at one to buy I get confused, anyone got a link please? Just want the one with the smiley faces to encourage me haha!

Blossomingflower94 · 15/09/2019 15:40

@SMiles14 I stupidly brought the pack of 10 and have had to go and get another box to get my static smiley --- you can test more than once a day from the flashing smiley so unless you're sure when your surge is 10 isn't enough.

I got mine from www.drfertility.co.uk/collections/ovulation-tests/products/clearblue-advanced-digital-ovulation-test-kit-with-dual-hormone-indicator-20-pack
and this is the cheapest i've found it.

After being all pessimistic this morning I had my static smiley at 2pm. Unfortunately this does mean no pregnancy at the beginning of october for me but maybe at the end of october I'll have another shot.

MrsMeow2019 · 15/09/2019 15:52

Hi ladies :),

It’s nearly Monday again 😭! Start of the fertile window here and CD 10. I think I’ve found I’m much more chilled pre fertile window as nothing that you can really do, it’s going to be these next two weeks that drive me mad 😡.

We’ve spent the weekend with friends and their babies 👶, DH is so good with them all 💖

Just wanted to say have a good week all and fingers crossed October is our month!

SMiles14 · 15/09/2019 18:21

@Blossomingflower94 thank you that's really helpful! Gah they are so expensive but I really like the idea of doing it with fmu then getting on with my day! The cheapies I have to wait til after work and sit there holding it in for the last 2 hours 😆

Proudmummy88 · 16/09/2019 09:58

Hello everyone. Can I join please? I've not been on a forum for a few months but still in the background. Now on cycle 10 and just have this horrible feeling that doesn't matter how many cycles that fo by, non are ever going to be positive. Af next due 15th Oct. Hope everyone is doing well and fingers crossed for a successful month for you all Smile

Doubl · 17/09/2019 11:33

The 'fertile window' is currently driving me mad as I feel like I'm getting nowhere with opks. I do not know how I'm going to cope in the TWW Grin

@Proudmummy88 I think it's so easy to get disillusioned with this whole process, it's a lot of waiting around. You're never out though, I hope you get your BFP soon ready for a summer baby Smile

Makeafamily19 · 17/09/2019 14:16
