I'm 35 and me and hubby will be starting to try in the next 2-3 months after our honeymoon.
Terrified as to if we are ready and also worried about my age 😬 anyone want to share their journey with me?xxx

The scan went well thank you @Bims2019 she started with an abdominal ultrasound but said it would give a clearer look at my ovaries if I had a vaginal one so ended up with that- a little uncomfortable but not too bad!
She said there were no problems with my ovaries and she could see I had ovulated which is good and confirms my positive OPK from last week. The only thing she noticed was my pelvis was retaining a lot of water. She said this could be caused by pelvic inflammatory disease. But that it was most likely as I had taken the advice of drinking lots of water and not going to the toilet a little too seriously before the scan and was dying for a wee 😂 so I need to have some swabs taken to rule that out.

Welcome @Nora11 and @Izzychar2927

Nora11 · 11/10/2019 13:19

Thank you for the welcome @MrsB25 and glad your scan went well! I'm sure all will be well with the swabs if you were busting for a wee! 😂

Just wanted to share a little bargain I came across just now which I thought you ladies might appreciate - in Wilko the Seven Seas Trying for a Baby vitamins are reduced to 50p (normally £4-5!) I just bought up everything on the shelf (only 4 packs haha) for when we are closer to trying 😊 they are even 50p on the website although you have to pay postage then

Katyoxley21 · 11/10/2019 13:56

Hi sorry to jump on post but we started ttc about 2 weeks ago after coming off implant

MrsB25 · 11/10/2019 16:02

Thanks for the tip @Nora11 I will be heading to Wilko tomorrow now!!!

Nora11 · 15/10/2019 12:04

Hope you were able to get some @MrsB25!

How is everyone's TTC/almost TTC journey going? I have just booked an appointment to have my implant removed in November which is exciting! We won't try for another few months but at least I can start tracking my cycles :)

Mystie · 15/10/2019 15:01

Hi Ladies, I'd love to join your TTC journeys. I sadly had a MMC / D&C a week ago at 7 weeks and am already thinking about trying again. I've read you are super fertile after a MC and at 43, really don't want to wait. I know the advice is to wait for least one cycle so you can date accurately and let the lining of the uterus to build up but have also read a lot of stories of women having successful full term pregnancies immediately after a loss. Really feel like I'm back at square one and wish the days and weeks would go faster it's so hard to not think about anything else!

Footymum81 · 15/10/2019 17:16

Hi @Nora11 I’m in a similar situation having just had my first post-natal period and will spend a few months tracking as with a 15 year old and a 10 month old we’ll be needing to plan our DTD carefully! We plan to start trying when we go away in feb half term if the dates work out.

Welcome @Mystie sorry for your loss. I’ve heard that about being super fertile after a mc too. In your situation I wouldn’t worry about waiting, you could always use a test that gives you an idea of how many weeks you are and they’ll be able to see when you go for a scan anyway.

HannyLove · 18/10/2019 18:00

Me! I'm a new girl to this website.
Waited for a few years to go by waiting for OH to pop the question but that ain't happening, we have just started ttc but are only going to try up until Christmas. If it doesn't happen we are going to put it on ice until next year.
It's exciting but absolutely terrifying lol!

Bims2019 · 28/10/2019 08:29

Hi everyone, sorry I've not had much of a chance to post recently. It's quite quiet on here so hope everyone is okay!

So my period has come back with a vengeance... My first cycle off the pill was 25 days, which is shorter than it used to be pre-pill (I think) but I'm just glad that things seem to be happening naturally after stopping. Did anyone else who's come off the pill recently find their periods were longer/more painful than before?!

@Nora11 thanks for the reading tips, I'll have to download at some point! For now I still don't feel like I'm doing much, just folic acid. Probably need to reduce my alcohol and caffeine levels but also don't want to be too strict with myself before we actually start trying. When is your appointment to get your implant out? Must be soon!

@MrsB25 glad your scan went well and hope all is well with your results! All these wonderful things we have to go through eh?😬 it's so hard to know how to prepare for scans etc, I've never had them so wouldn't have a clue 😂

Welcome to everyone else! @HannyLove how have you found TTC so far? Hubby and I still need to have a chat about when to try, now that my period has come back I feel we don't need to wait too much longer... But it's a big step!!

zinrepus · 28/10/2019 15:29

We're in the final stages of moving prep...have 90% of the house packed (the joys of taking no time off to move), the removal firm have been booked, DH is starting his new job up north today, and I am...still here with our mostly packed house. We are getting to the stage of weeks rather than months in our countdown (both for moving and the real beginning of TTC).

MrsB25 · 29/10/2019 18:44

Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well!

Thanks @Bims2019 had my swabs taken yesterday so now just got to wait and hope for clear results. My periods have always been quite short and light and this has continued for me since coming off the pill. My most recent one was really strange though- it lasted about a day and a half then stopped completely. Then nothing the following day, then patches of brown spotting for a couple of days. I feel like my body is so confusing at the moment!

@zinrepus exciting about the move! Hope all of the packing hasn’t been too stressful.

I know, DH and I were talking at the weekend about how close it is now to starting TTC. Not sure whether I feel more excited or nervous!

MrsMacG10 · 30/10/2019 12:30

Hi ladies, so sorry for starting the post then disappearing we had our honeymoon and things have been hectic at work. Need to start working on a healthier lifestyle, could do with losing 2 stone tbh! We are going to start our journey jan/feb as have to wait 3 month after returning from mexico to start trying.
How is everyone?xxx

MrsB25 · 30/10/2019 17:22

Hi @MrsMacG10 how was your honeymoon? I’m currently coming to the end of waiting 3 months post zika as well- it’s actually gone by much more quickly than I thought it would! 3 months felt like forever to wait at first! Xxx

Nora11 · 30/10/2019 17:59

@Footymum81 having a 15yo and 10 month old definitely must add an extra challenge! 🤞 February half term will be the lucky time! Are you going anywhere nice? :)

@HannyLove I know what you mean about it being exciting and terrifying haha, and we haven't even started yet! Good lucky hopefully you'll get some good news before Christmas! How long are you going to put it on ice for if it doesn't happen before then?

@Bims2019 I have a telephone appointment about my implant mid-November, then I should be able to get it removed within a week or two! 😊 I feel like I'm not doing much either, I have been thinking about cutting my caffeine down slightly like you (I'm not a big alcohol drinker but I get through a lot of caffeine! 😂) however I'm not worrying about it too much at this stage. The one thing I really should do is improve my diet and start exercising more/at all 😂 but that is so haaard!

I hope your periods get less heavy and painful soon! I don't have any experience coming off the pill but hopefully your body just needs a bit of time to level out :) I'm hoping mine won't be as bad when I'm off the implant. For a lot of people the implant stops their period but I must be unlucky as mine are still sore and pretty heavy, and I get bad PMT! I'm hoping my moods might level out a bit off birth control which is another reason to get it taken out early :)

@MrsMacG10 hope you had a lovely honeymoon! Hopefully the 3 months will go fast especially with Christmas and New Year in the middle! We are hoping to start trying Feb/march so not far off your timeline :)

zinrepus · 31/10/2019 15:53

@Bims2019 I know that feeling...I had not the pill but the hormonal coil for a while and once I got it out, I had bad cramping...unsure if that is more to do with them being more painful or if it is just that I had forgotten the pain...

We're moving up to Edinburgh into a loooovely neighbourhood, but because it's central, the GP is known to take ages in registering people there (like, they have a waitlist online to get notified when they're ready to register you). I've put our names on the list (DH is already up there) and on a whim called the local sexual health clinic to see if I needed a referral to get my coil removed. Turns out you don't, so I've got an appointment booked on 18 November! Shock

So...that's a thing! We'll see if that means we start TTC immediately, probably pausing around Christmas like @HannyLove. If things take the usual amount of time, we may need to stop February/March time...either way, exciting times ahead!

MrsMacG10 · 01/11/2019 08:20

Thanks @MrsB25 we have the best honeymoon. How was yours? Yeah the 3 months will fly by I'm sure!! Excited to see what the new year will bring for us all ❤ xxx

@zinrepus glad you managed to get your appointment so quickly! We will be starting nov/dec too so should be at a similar point to you!

@MrsMacG10 glad you had the best time! We actually had our honeymoon last year, our travels this summer were a ‘one last amazing holiday before hopefully having a baby’ trip 🙈 we had always wanted to see some of Southeast Asia so decided to go for it and spent 4 weeks in Thailand/Vietnam. It was incredible!

MrsMacG10 · 02/11/2019 13:05

Sounds amazing @MrsB25 I sometimes think i need another one last holiday before the baby but I'm 35 now so really dont have time for that lol! I think if we are still trying come May we might book a wee mini break.
Is anyone doing anything in prep before starting their journey? Anyone read any books? I'm slightly terrified lol!xxxConfused

I've just turned 35 live in Glasgow been with my husband for 5 years, married 1 year. TTC from jan 2020, this will be our first ❤

MrsB25 · 03/11/2019 00:55

@MrsMacG10 I know what you mean, it always feels like there’s more things we would like to do before a baby but can’t delay it forever! I guess there is never a perfect time.

Good idea! I’m 29, live close to Manchester. We’ve been together 7 years and married just over a year. TTC our first baby in December xx

Waiting1987 · 03/11/2019 09:45

Hi. I'll be ttc from Jan (I think) next year. Have the implant at the moment and baby 2 took quite a while, so unsure when to get implant removed.

Oakley16 · 03/11/2019 10:28

We have just started, cycle 1. I'm nearly 36 and he is nearly 32 but he also smokes. I've never had an easy pregnancy journey so worried my age will make it alot harder

MrsMacG10 · 03/11/2019 23:15

Really excited to share our journeys! Once christmas and new years out the way we will be trying, I'm imagining itll take us ages although no idea why lol! Need to start being healthier too which I'm sure will help us alone the way. Is anyone taking any vitamins?xxx

zinrepus · 04/11/2019 06:40

I'm 31, DH is 27, we've known teach other for 6 years, married for 4. We will be living in Edinburgh and due to start TTC in November or December.

I've been doing some deep dives into podcasts and read one book (Impatient Woman's Guide to getting Pregnant) with two more enroute (Expecting Better and Babies Are Not Pizzas). I went through a bottle of standard vitamins with my first two months of folic acid just out of nutritional paranoia, but now I'm just on folic acid and a vitamin D/calcium supplement.
