Glad to know I'm not the only one, @zinrepus though you're probably right in that I've just forgotten what my natural periods feel like 😂 it's great that your appointment is so soon! I'm really keen to jump on the TTC wagon for next month with some of you, definitely feels more real now.

Podcasts are also a good idea, I might try and find some good ones to listen to on the journey to work.

@MrsMacG10 3 months isn't that long really, hope you had a lovely honeymoon! We had a short city break a couple of weeks ago but I would love another proper holiday before we have a baby. Might try and squeeze one in for April or May next year, is anyone else planning trips soon?

@Nora11 tell me about it, the motivation for exercise at the moment is just non existent! I'm trying to get more into a routine, and will try to eat a bit more healthy. The last few weeks have involved a lot of takeaways and that just can't continue 😂😭

@MrsB25 let's hope our bodies stop confusing us soon and play along, it would make everything slightly easier! Fingers crossed for your results 🤞

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Very excited to share this journey with everyone, don't know about you guys but something about this time of year is making me feel quite broody... And I've never really been like that before!

I'm 31 and also live not too far from Manchester. We got married 2 years ago and will be TTC hopefully next month or in the new year :)

Waiting1987 · 04/11/2019 16:09

I am so broody too after saying I was never having more. Everyone around me seems to be ttc or already pregnant at the moment. Think I will get implant out at the start of December. Really tempted to do it now but know I shouldn't...

MrsB25 · 04/11/2019 16:48

@zinrepus babies are not pizzas sounds like a great book 😂

I’ve been taking the 7 seas trying for a baby tablets, they contain folic acid, vitamin d, iron and a bunch of other things! My cycles have definitely regulated since starting them but that could definitely just be a coincidence!

@Bims2019 we are going to go away to Barcelona at the end of May for my 30th- really hoping I will be pregnant by then! Then it can also be a ‘babymoon’ haha.

Bims2019 · 04/11/2019 17:45

@Waiting1987 I know right, suddenly everyone you know is expecting as if from nowhere! A few people in our group of friends now have their first and it's made me realise how much I want to be there too. Will you be trying for your second baby then?

@zinrepus I've just fallen down a rabbit hole of conception/ birth books on Amazon. So many!! The Impatient Women's guide looks good, I might start with that :) any tips will help, haha.

@MrsB25 ooo Barcelona will be lovely in May. And not too hot either, just in case you are pregnant 😉 Very true as well, if you have a holiday booked it can easily be turned into a babymoon! We are thinking of Seville in March, just for a long weekend. My holiday year doesn't restart until April so I've not got much annual leave left. Just dreaming of the Christmas break at the moment, haha.

Waiting1987 · 04/11/2019 18:04

It would be our third! I was very undecided but thinking it's now or never. I have never had regular cycles and I'm still breastfeeding so not expecting anything to happen quickly.

MrsB25 · 04/11/2019 19:53

@Bims2019 Seville would be lovely! Always nice to have a trip to look forward to. Yes hoping it will be nice and warm but not too hot just in case! We’ve booked a hotel with a lovely rooftop pool so at least I can have lots of relaxing swims! Oh tell me about it, the Christmas countdown has already started at work (I’m a primary teacher) so it’s making me look forward to the holidays massively!

@Waiting1987 how old are your other two children? SIL is still breast feeding and just told us on Saturday that she is pregnant again first cycle trying. Hope it happens just as quickly for you!

Waiting1987 · 04/11/2019 21:24

One is 4 and the other is almost 2. There's 2 years 7 months between them and I think ideally I would like a slightly bigger gap for no 3, but then not big enough there would be more than 2 school years between them. I think the chances of it working out how I want are very slim. Blush

I find once you've decided to ttc it's all you can think about. Then every event you plan you start wondering if you'll be pregnant or not. Need to stay calm this time! Grin

timswifey · 04/11/2019 22:58

Hello everyone, first post here.
Have been lurking a bit - looking forward to joining the fun Wink
I'm 30, got married in August, husband is 35. Living in beautiful Yorkshire.

Just started withdrawal bleed after stopping the pill so might wait out this month and start TTC after my first proper period in about a month.
How's everyone getting on?

MrsB25 · 07/11/2019 20:58

Welcome @timswifey

For me, AF should be here in about a week. Then I think we will start officially TTC once she’s gone. It feels so strange, have been waiting to start for ages but now it’s actually here I can’t quite believe it and feel nervous!!

Hope you’re all doing ok xx

Waiting1987 · 08/11/2019 10:13

Implant is now gone! Grin. Won't be properly ttc this month but won't be preventing either. Ordered lots of ovulation cheapies and also Clearblue ovulation sticks to start in January.

timswifey · 08/11/2019 11:34

Woohoo @Waiting1987 sounds like we are in the same boat this month 👍

zinrepus · 10/11/2019 10:27

Our stuff has been moved and I'm heading north on Wednesday!!! I'm in final stretch of pre-move and good god can I not wait to be in our minimally furnished flat and just unpack as I feel like it. 😂

BTW, I've started reading both Babies Are Like Pizzas and Expecting Better. I'm getting further in Expecting Better, as it's more pregnancy focused, whereas Babies Are Like Pizzas is more birth focused (not there yet). For anyone looking to learn lots about TTC in a short time, I definitely continue to recommend The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant (though the author recommends Taking Control of Your Fertility for further readung).

For Podcasts, I've been really enjoying a few: Evidence Based Birth, Plus Sized Mommy, and Scummy Mummy for some parenting lols.

Anyone else have some book or podcast recommendations? I've not done much in exploring TTC podcasts, can anyone vouch for one?

timswifey · 10/11/2019 18:18

I can recommend Taking Control of your Fertility. Bought it 2nd hand from Amazon and I learned so much from it.

MrsB25 · 10/11/2019 19:20

How exciting @zinrepus good luck for the move on Wednesday!! I haven’t read any books or listened to any podcasts yet but I might try and download some of your recommendations onto my kindle tonight, and listen to a podcast at the gym (although I’ve been super lazy the past few weeks and not been 😬)

Congratulations on being implant free @Waiting1987 !!

Waiting1987 · 11/11/2019 07:51

I haven't read any books or podcasts! Both times I got pregnant was when I was eating well and exercising, but I don't know if that's coincidence. Really want to lose a few pounds before pregnancy as I put on loads during.Blush

Desperate for first period to come so I can start tracking everything.

Fairycakes86 · 11/11/2019 09:03

Hello- this is my first post! Glad to see this thread and lots of others are in the same situation! My DH and I have decided to start TTC this month. We’re 33 and 36. We got married earlier this year but had to wait TTC as we were in a zika area.

I track my cycles with an app, but haven’t started doing anything else yet. I was originally going to see how it went before doing any temperature or OPK measurement but after doing a bit more reading I’m not sure. Are you all starting OPK and temps from the start?

timswifey · 11/11/2019 09:36

Hi @Fairycakes86 this is my first month TTC as well I think there are a few of us here.

I'm just seeing how it goes for the first few months. Will get into temping and OPKs if we're still not getting anywhere in a few months.

Welcome 🥰

zinrepus · 11/11/2019 09:44

Thanks @MrsB25! At this point the move mostly consists of just getting my bum up to Scotland and the saga of unpacking, so much more manageable than up to this point!

Totally fair, @Waiting1987, I will admit to being an inherently anxious person, so hearing about some pals' bad experiences inspired me to dive deep and geek out as much as possible. Because it's my first (and none of my sisters have tried yet), I'm trying to arm myself with knowledge and the reality check that even the best information doesn't prepare you at all! Wink

Welcome @Fairycakes86. I did some temp tracking with Natural Cycles a few years back and, despite my intense geeking out, have decided I'm going to stick to Clue/Flo predictions for the first few months, see how we get on. I think not having the daily work around it will help me stay on the correct side of obsessive, but that varies from person to person (and pressure felt based on age and all that fun stuff).

Waiting1987 · 11/11/2019 10:37

I'll definitely be tracking after my first period. I've never been regular and breastfeeding has made everything even more erratic, so goodness know when I'll get a period. Going to use the cheap ovulation sticks at first and then switch to Clearblue when properly ttc in Jan.

MrsB25 · 11/11/2019 12:55

Welcome @fairycakes86
I’ve used OPKs a couple of months since coming off the pill to try and get an understanding of my cycles. The last few months since becoming regular I have ovulated on day 17 so feel like it was beneficial to use them and have that knowledge! I am the sort of person who likes to be in control so will definitely not be able to resist using them and reading lots of books!!! Haven’t considered temping yet as I think that would take over my mind too much 😂

Waiting1987 · 16/11/2019 11:22

Do we think positive or not? Find these ones hard to read but don't want to use clearblue until after first period.

Anyone else starting their TTC journey in next few month?
Waiting1987 · 16/11/2019 12:14

Just realised I didn't point out it was an ovulation test. Blush

MrsB25 · 16/11/2019 20:47

I got excited then @Waiting1987 😂 it’s hard to tell on photos but it definitely looks close. I downloaded a good app called Femometer, you take a photo of the OPK and it gives it a ‘score’, I found it much easier to compare the lines that way. I also tested twice a day some days and that was when I caught my peak

Waiting1987 · 16/11/2019 21:46

Sorry should have led with OPK infoSmile. This was it dried... but later I tested and was negative. Dtd anyway!

Really want a period so I can get out the Clearblue tests. Love the smiley face which makes it clear.

zinrepus · 18/11/2019 10:44

The coil is gone and AF is expected any minute now (cycle's going a bit long, but this is well within my world of normal for a high stress/anxiety/travel month).

How are people getting on? @Waiting1987, did you have any better luck with your tests over the weekend?
