@blackpinkinyourarea @RedFormica I was really struggling with those massive pregnacare supplements. I was recommended SevenSeas conception, and they are tiny! It’s been amazing!

They have 1 Conception, which are tiny. 2 is pregnancy, and they’re massive, and then 3 is post pregnancy/breastfeeding.

My doctor said the tiny conception ones have everything you need to prep your body for pregnancy. It’s changed my life after 7 months of the massive pills....

Derbee · 30/08/2019 01:00

Only starting TTC from next month, but I wanted to take the pre pregnancy folic acid, vit D etc for a long time before TTC

RedFormica · 30/08/2019 09:45

@blackpinkinyourarea I'm so sorry to hear about your appointment. How are you feeling today? Hope you're able to clear your mind and relax ahead of monday. :)

@Derbee thanks for the tip on seven seas - will check them out!

on the subject of supplements - poundland do pregnancy supplements. Saw a bunch yesterday - it might be worth comparing their contents to the more expensive brands. i just bought their omega 3 fish oils, calcium and vitamin d -- all recommended for fertility health. Apparently omega 3 is good for egg health! I have a crazy amount of pills now though.... haha

Also for those who are interested in tracking their ovulation via the ovulation strips (i relented and did a test yesterday!) theres a great vid on youtube on how to record results.

Hope this is helpful!!

@blackpinkinyourarea I'm so sorry about that. I can only imagine how frustrating knowing you were supposed to be so close! Is going to a clinic a realistic option for you or not really? Can you add a fun errand to the trip to soften the blow?

blackpinkinyourarea · 02/09/2019 16:36

@redformica @zinrepus thanks both for your kind words :) sorry for abandoning the thread i decided to stay away until i had my appointment, and i am thrilled to finally be IMPLANT FREE! Beyond excited to finally be officially TTC.

@redformica thanks the tip about poundland supplements..will definitely check those out!

How is everyone doing this week?

zinrepus · 02/09/2019 17:22

DH is working out the details of his contract, but we probably will have a starting date by the end of the week, which probably means a 5 week counter starts for us to be ready to MOVE!

Terrifying, but we're still renting, so not nearly as bad as for some. I've been researching removal companies and thinking through what stuff we have in the house and what can get packed when. Doing a bit of a mid-year deep dive, decluttering and fighting against my packrat tendencies...

We'll also need a cleaner in (we moved in without the flat getting the deep clean we were promised, previous tenant had been around for years, so honestly it's probably been about 8 years since it's been professionally cleaned), so that adds a fun level to the planning process.

In the mean time, I keep taking my folic acid and vitamin D/calcium. Snooping on RightMove and saving properties, removing them as they get snapped up, searching again. Editing my proposal for having my role become a remote working position. Etc.

It sort of feels like the moment before a sprint, I'm trying to be prepared for everything, but in the end it's just a lot of waiting around with slightly anxious-feeling tummy. Confused

MrsB25 · 02/09/2019 20:25

@blackpinkinyourarea congrats on being implant free! Are you going to start TTC straight away or track your cycles for a while?

I actually had a GP appointment today to discuss my long cycles since coming off the pill. She was really helpful and said it probably is just my body taking longer to get back to normal, but has referred me for some blood tests and a pelvic ultrasound. Feel glad that she was super pro active about it, hopefully there aren’t any problems but at least if there are I will know about it before starting to TTC.

blackpinkinyourarea · 03/09/2019 09:43

@MrsB25 thank you it feels good Grin we are trying straight away, but i know my cycle will be getting back to how it was pre implant and i dont know when i'll ovulate. So we are trying dtd every other day and then when my period comes i will have more of an idea of my cycle and I can start using OPKs next month. I think we are in a similar boat regarding long cycles. I have had 35 day cycles pretty consistently on the implant but my last cycle was actually 42 days!! I hope yours settles down back to normal soon.

notalwaysalondoner · 03/09/2019 09:56

Hi, hope it's OK if I join! My husband and I are planning TTC in a month - we are going on holiday next week then I have booked for my coil removal on 1 October. We've been married just over a year, together for 10. I'm 29 and DH is 28.

I must admit, I've wanted to TTC for ages, but now it's getting closer to actually happening I am having some wobbles about the impact it will have on our lives. I'm also especially concerned about the fact that we're still living in a flat in London when I always imagined my children having a very rural upbringing. I'm really struggling with whether to move to somewhere in the commuter belt ASAP (but where?! we don't have any family around London) or just to get on with TTC and hope the moving decision becomes clearer once a baby is on the way! I also always imagined living much closer to my family when I had children (grew up in the west country) but even if I could persuade my husband to move that would be in a five-year time window, and I don't want to wait that long.

It would be great to have some TTC buddies, and also to hear your guys' experience of how you deal with things not being quite how you imagined for when you have a family - did you wait until you had everything all lined up career- and house-wise, or are you just going to go for it?!

MrsB25 · 03/09/2019 20:55

It’s a really tough decision I bet @notalwaysalondoner . I imagine there’s never a perfect time! We own, just a flat too not a house, but it is large and on the ground floor so plenty of space for 1 child. I would love a house but prices are crazy in our area (not as high as London but very unaffordable). I think the way I thought about it was I would regret it more if we waited and then it ended up taking ages, than if we went for it and it didn’t end up perfect! I’m sure you will be able to make the best of any situation when the baby comes along!
I know what you mean about having a wobble about the impact on your life- that keeps happening to me too! Keep thinking of all the little things that we won’t be able to do anymore. I guess we should enjoy them all the more now while we still can!

grincheux · 03/09/2019 21:07

I know I'm a little late but can I join you too? 31, waiting to have our honeymoon then starting in late October/early November. I've been on the pill since I was 15 and have never been 'regular', so the cynic in me says we could be in for a long ride...

RedFormica · 04/09/2019 18:43

@blackpinkinyourarea sorry for the late response, I’ve been busy with work this week!!! So pleased it all worked out for you and welcome to the TTC crew! ;)

Hope everyone is well this week. I AM ovulating! Did a test this morn and got a strong test line - feel like I’ve won the lottery. Haha

Catching up on all the messages!

RedFormica · 04/09/2019 18:57

@zinrepus reading your long to do list exhausted me! ;) I moved to a new flat in June- we only had a month to move out of our old place and decorate the new one. One of the most stressful moments of my life so far but you somehow get through it!!! Wishing you the best of luck :))

@MrsB25 both of my sisters were on the pill for years! My older sister’s cycles finally settled and she managed to conceive two boys soon after. My other sister has quite irregular cycles but does ovulate every other month or so! After trying for two years she and her husband have decided to try ivf but I think it might be more because her husband has a low sperm count. Overall it’s quite positive news for those coming off the pill - it’ll take some time but cycles do regulate. Both of my sisters were over 30 when they started TTC.

@notalwaysalondoner @grincheux WELCOME!!!

I’ve just moved to London from the Home Counties where I honestly thought I would settle and raise a fam but to be honest I love the idea of raising my family in LDN. My partner was born and raised here and he loved it and it shaped him in a really positive way. I want my child to grow up with and around a diverse group of communities and people. Luckily my parents aren’t too far away in Home Counties (just outside of LDN) so support isn’t too far away - I can see this being a massive thing for people who live far away from their family.

RedFormica · 04/09/2019 19:09

@notalwaysalondoner in terms of experience / backstory (hehe) - I currently work in the creative industries mainly freelance and home based which so far is great but now that I want a family it’s not the most secure form of income AND tbh...I’ve really fallen out of love with the industry and the work. I have decided to retrain as a nurse next year (if I don’t get pregnant by then otherwise I will defer a year!). You mention things not being how you imagined...and this is deffo not how I imagined it would be. Haha But once my partner and I decided to try for a family my long term priorities changed and I feel that more consistent income/ job would be more suitable. I haven’t just suddenly decided on nursing though - it’s most defitniely a calling haha I volunteer at a charity/ day centre for people with various disabilities and i enjoy it so much. It can be tough and challenging but doing something that benefits people in a practical and emotional way is rewarding.

I hope things become clearer for you in time!!

grincheux · 04/09/2019 23:16

@MrsB25 that's the notion I'm working with, there's never likely to be a perfect time! That said, our honeymoon complete with cocktails on the beach is our last hurrah, I don't want to miss that 😁

@RedFormica that's reassuring about your sisters and the pill, it's something I worry about. I think about coming off it now to start trying in a couple of months, but also wouldn't want to miraculously fall straight away which would be sod's law...

MrsB25 · 08/09/2019 17:44

@grincheux definitely enjoy one last hurrah on your honeymoon! Where are you planning to go? We enjoyed our honeymoon so much we had to have a second last hurrah this year 😂

How is everyone doing? Just ordered some seven seas trying for a baby pills to make sure I’m getting the right vitamins. Going to try and get DH taking some zinc too.

grincheux · 08/09/2019 20:03

Mauritius! I can't wait. I'm still a bit apprehensive about TTC this year though because I'm not a permanent employee where I work, and I don't think I'll qualify for enhanced mat pay even if my contract gets extended as I only started there a few months ago. Anyone had similar employment experience? Infuriatingly I work in HR so should probably know but this is a step too technical for me 😂

FlamingoG88 · 11/09/2019 17:24

Hello, can I join please?

I'm 31 and due to get married in November so will be starting TTC after that 😊 been with my OH for over 7 years now!

I came off the pill in May after having been on it since I was 17 and so far (touches wood) I seem to be having 28 day cycles.

The only thing that worries me is I had chemotherapy when I was 8/9 years old and I'm very worried this will mean I am infertile.

Just ordered myself some folic acid and also some OPKs to see if I actually ovulate!

MrsB25 · 11/09/2019 19:45

Hi @FlamingoG88 welcome!

How exciting about your wedding, how are the preparations going? Great news that your cycles seem to be back to normal already.

So sorry that you had to go through that at such a young age, could you speak to your GP about whether it will have had any impact on your fertility? Hopefully it won’t have done at all.

FlamingoG88 · 11/09/2019 22:47

@MrsB25 Hello!

Wedding plans are going well thank you, we just have all the small bits left to do really - must just get on with them as I really don't want any unnecessary last minute stress. Trying to lose weight at the moment so lots of time being spent in the gym.

I think I probably will speak to my GP at some point but I'd like us to try for a little while at least. I guess it's a case of what you don't know can't hurt you? I'm kind of excited to try at the moment as I've never tried before if that makes sense?

Bims2019 · 12/09/2019 09:24

Hi all,

Hope I'm not too late to join you? Hubby and I have decided that the current pill pack I'm taking will be the last (eek), so we'll hopefully be TTC later in the year or start of next year. Will probably not try straight away so that my cycles can return to some kind of normality... No idea what that will look like as I've been on the pill for years! I'm nearly 32, and find the whole idea of TTC slightly overwhelming but exciting at the same time Smile does anyone have any tips for what to do at this stage in terms of preparing to try? It's a whole new world to me, haha.

@grincheux I'm in a similar position to you in terms of being on a temporary contract and I also work in HR. It depends on your length of service and company policy, I think you usually have to have been employed for 52 weeks at the 15th week before your expected week of childbirth to qualify for enhanced or for 26 weeks before for statutory. I might qualify but my contract is up in a few months, so it may not be the best time for us to start trying... But I also don't want to put it off. From what I've heard, there's rarely a perfect time to TTC so I think we'll just see how we go!

zinrepus · 23/09/2019 16:04

Welcome @bims2019 (albeit slightly delayed)!

The news in our house is my partner has handed in his notice and we're going flat hunting at the end of the week! So lots of rushing and scampering, but the bright side is we'll be moving before my birthday at the end of next month!

One of DH's pals has just fallen pregnant, which hit me a bit with some wistful feels. But the bright side is that kicked off a conversation with DH about what our timeline is like...he initially wanted to wait until after Christmas, but at this point is proving to be much happier to go whenever I say...still have to wait to get this coil out, but hey-ho!

How is everyone else doing?

MrsB25 · 23/09/2019 20:45

Welcome @Bims2019 in terms of getting ready I’ve been trying to track my cycles to get an idea of when I ovulate, have started taking some vitamins and will be trying some OPK sticks this month!

Exciting news @zinrepus are you staying close by to where you currently live or relocating? My DH has several friends with newborns so I actually think he is more broody than me at the moment 😂

I’m doing well thanks- AF arrived last Thursday so I finally had a shorter cycle of 30 days! Already had my blood tests booked in for tomorrow so will still go for those but hopefully that’s the start of my cycles getting back to normal!

Sorry I can’t remember, where are you up to with having your coil removed?

candlefloozy · 23/09/2019 20:55

Yes! Having my coil out next month and wanting to crack on and try for number two!

Bims2019 · 24/09/2019 08:13

Thanks for the welcome @zinrepus and @MrsB25 :)

Took my last pill today, so I'm heading into the tracking stage! Excited but also a bit nervous about cycles getting back to "normal". I've started taking folic acid already, is it a good idea to take other vitamins as well? I might see how things go this month then perhaps invest in some OPKs later on... Do people find them helpful?

@zinrepus we are in the process of moving right now, it's a stressful time but worth it when you've found the right place! Good luck with flat hunting.

Lots of people seem to be getting prepared with coils out etc, I'm excited to join you all!
