Trying to conceive first child with PCO/PCOS or irregular long cycles

Hi there,

I'm currently on my 3rd cycle ttc my first child and I suffer with irregular cycles due to PCO. I conceived first cycle but it was a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. My second cycle was a chemical pregnancy. I'm now on my 3rd and it's day 34 with no ovulation yet. I'm using Ovusense to temp which helps to show when I've ovulated. I can't help but worry it was a fluke to fall quickly like I did. Just wondering if there's anyone else in a similar situation struggling with long cycles as I'm finding it really frustrating. Looking forward to chatting to some of you! x

Hi! Glad you're feeling positive @EssJayyCee fingers crossed this will be your month! If however it isn't then please try not to put pressure on yourself / compare yourself to your sister. I know sometimes it's hard not to, but I'm trying to believe that if something is worth having then it's worth waiting for. Your time will come, hopefully sooner rather than later, and when it does the struggles will suddenly all seem worthwhile.
My weekend was ok thanks, hen do was alright though due to strikes / cancellations it took 7 trains to get there and back! A day at work tomorrow will almost seem like a rest in comparison....

@Catconfusion morning sickness already?! I never felt sick in my pregnancy. It makes me worry that if i feel the same next time (if there is a next time) then it won't last. I know not everyone gets it but then you do hear about sickness indicating a really strong healthy bean, so in retrospect I wonder if the fact that I felt fine was a sign Sad

EssJayyCee · 05/08/2019 07:08

@Avocuddles Yeah I do try not to compare but it is so hard!
That's not good about the trains!

You need to remember everyone's symptoms are different so just because you didn't get morning sickness doesn't necessarily mean it was a sign xx

Catconfusion · 05/08/2019 18:24

Hey @Avocuddles what I would say about sickness is it’s not necessarily an indication all is well. I had hypermesis with my first pregnancy so was vomiting almost constantly. This got worse after the point we lost the baby as it was a mmc found out at 10 weeks, baby was 6. I was vomiting until after my ERPC. This time I am really nauseous already but I know I can’t rely on it being a sign all is well. I’m just very sensitive to pregnancy hormones. Many ladies are not nauseous and have healthy babies so I don’t think it’s a reliable sign. My doctor lulled us into a false sense of security when I went for medication for sickness by saying I was unlikely to miscarry. Apparently there was a study showing ladies with sickness were slightly more likely to carry to term. Since coming on these threads I’ve spoken to multiple ladies who had sickness but still lost their baby. You really can’t tell with symptoms! Xx

Thanks @Catconfusion I guess it's easy to read too much into things. If I do conceive again I know that I'll inevitably be comparing every detail to the pregnancy that didn't work out, but also know that I need to try to stay calm and relax as much as possible. Around 5DPO now but not feeling positive.
Hope all is going well for you! x

Apologies for multiple posts, WiFi cut out then clearly went haywire. Have requested for the multiple ones to be removed!

gonewiththepotter · 05/08/2019 19:39

I know this isn’t by any means ‘the norm’ but I had the WORST irregular periods. I had a 3 month long gap between March- June and only got my period in June as was pumped full of provera tablets!!

DH and I started TTC but by 10th July (6 weeks into my cycle) I had neither gotten my period, nor ovulated! I was absoloutley despairing!

However, continued doing an ovulation strip every single day and on 12/07 (for no reason at all) I ovulated!!!

Obviously DH and I DTD as many times as we physically could and now I’m 5+4.

I’m only posting this because even my GP was convinced I would struggle and I was so nervous/anxious!

Don’t preempt anything with conception even if it looks dismal prospects it can totally happen.

Good luck ladies ❤️

Catconfusion · 05/08/2019 19:51

Thanks @gonewiththepotter for sharing. I was in a similar situation with long cycles and now I’m 4 weeks after I spontaneously ovulated on day 32. I was despairing as well. It can just make you feel broken but most ladies with irregular cycles will have babies. I know it’s easy for me to say now but I’m not out of the woods yet. It’s a case of persevering with trying and with the doctor to get support! Xx

Hello!

I am feeling so optimistic and positive about this month but I'm scared I'm going to get my Hope's up and then it all go wrong.. but...

Do you think with my pre O temps being low I have a higher chance I could ovulate this month? Hmm

Catconfusion · 06/08/2019 20:05

@EssJayyCee there is nothing wrong with optimism. Just keep an open mind to how it plays out just in case. I would definitely say my temps have seemed lower and smoother with earlier ovulation. I really hope it happened. It only takes one egg and 1 sperm and you're good to go! xx

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 06/08/2019 21:28

@Catconfusion Sorry I didn't write that very well.
I don't think I have ovulated yet... but I was wondering if my low temps could potentially mean i will ovulate. If that makes sense?

The last few months my temps have been anywhere between 36.4 and 36.6 at the beginning and up to 36.8 through the rest of the cycle, but this cycle so far they have all been between 35.9 and 36.4 so alot lower. I am only on CD6 but it seems my temps are alot lower than the annovulatory cycle temps.

I think I'm probably clutching at straws and should probably not be too optimistic.

Catconfusion · 07/08/2019 03:00

That's what I meant @EssJayyCee if my temps were low early on I felt ovulation came quicker. It's a sign of steady hormones. I hope it's coming! Xx

This is my first month of temping - does this suggest that I did ovulate or are my temps not high enough? My Fitbit heart rate seems to be dropping over the last few days which makes me think maybe I haven't?

EssJayyCee · 07/08/2019 06:54

Oh okay @Catconfusion sorry I got confused! 😂
How are you feeling?

@Avocuddles I'm not very good at reading charts but I'm not convinced you have ovulated, only because your temp dropped again after the peak and didn't rise again properly. @CatConfusion may have a better Idea than me though!

Catconfusion · 07/08/2019 08:30

@Avocuddles it looks to me like your body tried but the temps came down again. I get this at least once in my cycle. Keep going though as I usually ovulated about 7 days after an attempt. Xx

I'm ok thanks @EssJayyCee I had a freak out on Monday because I started getting some mild cramping but it's just about gone now. My scan is today so if that goes well I'll call the midwife. I'm extremely grateful this is happening but it's scary stuff. Xx

Avocuddles · 07/08/2019 10:19

@Catconfusion I had a positive clearblue a week ago, is it possible to get more than one surge in a month? Just feel so disheartened. I'm not sure that temping is good for my mental health, it just makes me even more stressed yet I definitely can't stop!

Catconfusion · 07/08/2019 10:29

@Avocuddles yes definitely. I get peaks on opks and then the temperature isn't sustained. It's because you get the surge but don't ovulate. Try as hard as you can not to stress. I had this happen the cycle I just got pregnant on. Had a really big freak out and then a week later on day 32 ovulated and conceived. If temping is stressful I'd just dtd every other day if you can. It's just really hard with long cycles so I do sympathise. Just remember there's nothing wrong with you, you can still get pregnant it's just a rougher road. Hopefully you'll get that fertility referral because they can give you something to ovulate earlier. Xx

EssJayyCee · 09/08/2019 20:40

I am really worried I may have ovulated super super early! Like.. cd5 early... is it possible?
