@Squiff70 sorry to hear that. Completely awful of them... hope you've got support around you today x

AliceRR · 11/05/2019 18:42

💐 to you @Squiff70

That’s rubbish of them x

Bluebelltulip · 11/05/2019 18:48

Hope you get some answers @Pop1234 it must be very draining. I'm 4.5 weeks so very early days still, just feels like a completely different mindset this time, I thought I was safe last time after the 12 week and 20 week scans were fine, never even thought that the heart could develop a problem at 27 weeks then after the treatment was working I again thought everything would be ok but her heart stopped at 32 weeks. I'm now more than aware that there is no safe point.

That's awful @Squiff70 you would think they would have removed you from the list straight away in January Flowers

AliceRR · 11/05/2019 18:51

@Bluebelltulip I can imagine it’s so worrying this time. Like you I thought was pretty “safe” after 12 weeks and then 20 weeks. We were the unlucky ones last time though and chances are far in favour of everything being perfect this time around x

fnej01 · 11/05/2019 18:57

Hi @Pop1234. Really sorry for your loss. I have had the NK cell testing (self funded) at Coventry. I actually saw Professor Brosens rather than Professor Quenby. I'm just waiting for the second biopsy results. They do two biopsies as the NK cells vary each month. My first biopsy came out with high levels of cells so they have prescribed prednisolone and progesterone regardless of the second result. I would definitely say it's is worth a go if you've explored all other avenues. There is a word of warning though the Prof was very clear that they didn't really know and that it really is still regarded as experimental medicine. I hope you get some answers. Just shout if you have any questions x

Squiff70 · 11/05/2019 18:58

Thank you. It's utterly disgusting that they've done this. I wish I could make it public but they appear to have disabled public posts on their Facbook page. Can't think why!

Pop1234 · 11/05/2019 18:59

@ikphillips thanks for letting me know, and I'm sorry you had to go through it.

If you don't mind me asking, was this a recurrent miscarriage? Or was it a later miscarriage and that's why they tested? Sorry I hope you don't mind me asking.

I will definitely push for an appointment as soon as they get the results in. Did you just say you wanted to be seen sooner?

Pop1234 · 11/05/2019 19:04

@fnej01 thanks this is really helpful. How long did you have to wait for your appointment? I think I am willing to try anything now as I feel as though there has got to be something wrong. 4 losses in a year seems a lot for it just to be bad luck. The only thing is I have time on my hands as I'm only 26, but still doesn't make it any easier.

Were you advised to not try between the two biopsies to see if the cells improved?

fnej01 · 11/05/2019 19:15

Hi @Pop1234
It was no wait for the appt, literally just contacted the secretary as per the contact on the website when I had a positive opk, and they book you in 7-10days later. The clinic is either a Monday or Friday afternoon. I think you have to be 1 or 2 cycles post miscarriage which you would need to check. I did this alongside my RMC, and so have had a 6 month break following 3 mc last year. I am 38 and DH 47 so time is of the essence and we decided we would get tested for everything going, and then if it was a numbers game we would just crack on. I have been diagnosed with aps and with high NK, so got a bit more than I bargained for. X

fnej01 · 11/05/2019 19:18

@Pop1234 if you want to Dm me your email, I can forward you the clinic electronic leaflet they send out x

fnej01 · 11/05/2019 19:21

@Pop1234 you have to be definite that you are not pregnant so use barrier contraception on the cycles of biopsies. The two biopsy cycles don't need to be consecutive though so you could try between. Hope that makes sense. I did mine two consecutive cycles, so we used condoms throughout. Starting TTC next cycle x

Pop1234 · 11/05/2019 19:39

@fnej01 thank you I really appreciate it. How do I send a DM on here? 🤦🏼‍♀️

ikphillips · 11/05/2019 21:13

@Pop1234 I found out at my 12 week scan that my baby had no heartbeat and had died at 10+5. I haven't had any other miscarriages, fortunately, and have an 18 month old DD. I think in my case it sounds like just very bad 'luck' if you can call it that.
They took tissue at the ERPC in late March and then contacted me to let me know that they had results about 2 weeks ago, offering me an apt to discuss in July! Angry as we are TTC at the moment I wanted to know if I was all clear to do that, hence hassling them for an earlier apt x

fnej01 · 11/05/2019 22:02

@Pop1234 it's actually quite hard to find. On the web page (rather than the app) click on the icon the arrow points at in the photo below. Hope that helps

TTC after pregnancy loss - Thread 29 - huddle up and bring on the BFP's!
hayleyfx · 12/05/2019 14:57

Hi ladies - it’s been soooo long!! Don’t think I’ve been on this thread since December last year 😱
Sorry for taking so much time away but really needed it for my own sanity and honestly, it did me the world of good. Been wondering how you’ve all been doing, how are you all? Any pregnancies? 🤞
As for me, I was recently diagnosed with APS or as I call it “sticky blood syndrome” a blood clotting disorder. My next appointment is in two weeks to arrange my medication (baby aspirin and heparin injections) however... yesterday I got a bfp! (We weren’t trying but we had a couple oops moments but didn’t think I would fall pregnant!?) Basically I’m freaking out now as I’m not on my medication. Phoning the hospital first thing in the morn. Without medication, I apparently have a 20% chance of a healthy pregnancy. So feeling kind of desperate right now. I guess, if I lose this pregnancy before I start my medication then at least it will be early on 😥 but trying to stay positive.

I can’t remember - does anyone else here have APS? I was gutted to find out I had it but at the same time it gave me answers as to why I’ve lost 5 babies. & another question, do you girls think it’s too late for me to start taking aspirin now? Like, could the damage already be done? (I don’t know how it all works! Sorry)

Also want to say sorry for coming here and asking loads of questions once again haha. Will be so lovely to hear how you’re all doing though, really hoping there’s been some good news for you all in the past few months. Let me know how you’re all doing!! 💕

Oh and I just realised today that it’s almost exactly a year ago (it was May 22nd) that I found out I was pregnant with my baby boy Charlie!! Crazy how things turn out. I hope this time it’s meant to be and this baby will be okay. Not feeling hopeful in the slightest but trying to keep a little faith that maybe, after 2 years of TTC and miscarrying again and again, that with this medication this one could finally be it. We’ll see... 🤞

AliceRR · 12/05/2019 15:03

Hi @hayleyfx congrats on your bfp - I hope it all works out for you

I think I remember you from the Feb 2019 antenatal group? Sorry if I’ve mixed you up with someone else and I’m just going mad

hayleyfx · 12/05/2019 15:06

@AliceRR yep that was me! My baby boy was due February 2019. I remember you from that group too. Thank you for the well wishes 💕 how are you doing?

AliceRR · 12/05/2019 15:33

@hayleyfx I’m ok thanks. My baby girl’s heart stopped beating the day before she was due and she was born sleeping on 13 Feb. This was my first cycle TTC again and it’s tough. Sounds like you’ve had a tough time so I hope this bfp is it for you. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can answer your questions xx

Mistymeow · 12/05/2019 16:06

@hayleyfx so lovely to hear from you. I’ve been wondering how you’ve been doing. We have had a couple of bfps on this thread and a few who have had further losses (myself included sadly). But a lot of hope! I remember you sharing your story about Charlie, I hope you are doing ok. The diagnosis must have come as a shock but at the same time it must also be a relief to know that there is something they can do. I believe @yukka and @fnej01 have both been diagnosed with APS so hopefully they can help with your questions. Congrats on the bfp- I’m sure the hospital will be able to get you on the treatment sooner. Hope the other ladies can provide more reassurance.

Lilimum7 · 12/05/2019 16:13

Well Ladies I'm afraid to say it's definitely a miscarriage. Bleeding started today, heavy flow, blood clots the works. So definitely over. To be honest it's a bit painful too. I made it to 4+3 but it wasn't ment to be.

I've got rmc on Tuesday, I really don't know what I will say if they try to tell me 7 miscarriages is bad luck, they might need to employ a new specialist if they try that one.
Nice to hear from you @hayleyfx congratulations on the bfp

Yukka · 12/05/2019 16:16

@hayleyfx congrats... I have aps currently 7 months pregnant. Start that aspirin today... and phone go tomo to get heparin started. Feel free to pm in you want to chat xxx

Bluebelltulip · 12/05/2019 16:20

Hope you have a positive appointment on Tuesday @Lilimum7, sorry it's now definitely a MC x

fnej01 · 12/05/2019 16:20

Hi @hayleyfx congrats on the BFP. As @Mistymeow I have also been diagnosed with APS and am planning to start trying next cycle. @Yukka is doing well with her pregnancy, and has been a great support to me explaining stuff. I would definitely take yourself an aspirin today if you can, and get hold of your consultant for other meds tomorrow. I think Yukka didn't start heparin straight away, but was on the aspirin.
It's quite a difficult diagnosis to get your head around isn't it. I have been diagnosed with APS and high NK cells but it is the APS that I've had most difficulty processing.
Definitely get hold of your doctor in the morning for the meds.
Good luck x

coconutlatte44 · 12/05/2019 17:42

Hi all,
Sorry to jump in in the middle of a conversation, I think I popped in a few weeks ago but am just coming to the end of my first full cycle actually ttc after mmc in March. I have been doing really well the last few weeks and even when I tested (twice) & got bfn each time I thought I was coping fine. But now that AF cramps have started up and I'm realising it truly hasn't worked out I feel all sorts of emotional and it's caught me off guard! I guess maybe I secretly thought it would magically work out right away and now the reality is hitting me in the face...

Yukka · 12/05/2019 17:52

@fnej01 and @hayleyfx I had read at the time that they don’t start heparin until after a 6w scan... but that wasn’t the case for me and I was on it daily from 5wks. My gp contacted my consultant directly - though I Had contacted consultants office too. They sent me clinic to be weighed and agreed dosage from there, I collected it from hospital pharmacy and then gp had nurse show me what to do. It’s actually very straight forward but I have some tips to reduce the Stinging and bruising. Fingers crossed for you Hun and keep us posted xx
