TTC after coming off Cerazette

Hi everyone!

Me and my boyfriend have decided to try for a baby. I’ve been on Cerazette for about 8 years with one break a few years back. I stopped taking the mini pill 16 days ago and still no bleed. Usually if I miss 1 day I’ll bleed the following week. I’ve taken a test which came back negative but wondering if it’s too early?
Can anyone else share their experience with coming off cerazette and their first bleed and/or conception please?! I’m desperate to get pregnant!

Thanks in advance

Hayley x

@tisonlymeagain @xoxhayleyxox thank you so much. I’m okay, I know it’s very common and I see in my job it’s more common than not but it still doesn’t take away the feelings of disappointment and feeling a bit inadequate. We are now going to not actively try for a while but still use no contraception and see where it takes us! Hope you’re all doing okay xx

Roo3125 · 03/05/2019 13:09

@amiejb25 I'm so sorry to hear that 😔 that must be really difficult to deal with. Sending you lots of good thoughts for the next few months xxx

Comps83 · 03/05/2019 17:46

@amiejb25 I’m so sorry
This is all too common and the reason I properly lost my rag with dh when he wanted to tell everyone as soon as I got a BFP

Roo3125 · 04/05/2019 09:14

I have a friend in a very similar job and position who went on to have a healthy pregnancy the month after her mc. Hopefully the same will happen with you @amiejb25 💕 Thinking of you!

Having cramps at 5DPO! Hoping that's a good sign 🤞

xoxhayleyxox · 05/05/2019 11:33

Hey ladies, hope everyone's having a good weekend.
@Roo3125 how's the 2WW treating you? X

Roo3125 · 05/05/2019 13:02

@xoxhayleyxox Hey mrs! How are you doing?

6DPO today and have had on and off stomach cramps. Hoping that's a positive sign 🤞 It's dragging in but I'm hopeful that things will speed up soon! Couldn't imagine doing this wait for months on end though 🤦‍♀️

xoxhayleyxox · 05/05/2019 13:17

I'm doing okay thanks! Just waiting for my next scab now which is 7th June and waiting to hear from my midwife for my booking in appt which seems to be taking forever!
Oh that does sound very positive! I had cramps and a very strange stabbing pain on my left side for a good few days in my 2WW, so fingers are definitely crossed for you! Have you decided what day to test?

Roo3125 · 05/05/2019 13:38

@xoxhayleyxox I can imagine it feels like forever! Scans are fun though! Your next scan should show baby's wee face etc! Exciting stuff! :)

Oh, that's promising, thank you for sharing that! I've had shooting pains on my left side down near my hip/lower stomach and also some shooting pains in my boobs. My OH says I'm being ridiculous 🙄 but I feel like things are promising! Trying to keep occupied by eating healthily etc!

Roo3125 · 05/05/2019 13:52

@xoxhayleyxox Oh, and I haven't decided when to test haha! I have one frer and some cheap ic strips in the cupboard. Frer are on offer for £6 on amazon so might just order some 🤔😂

When did you first test?

Avocuddles · 05/05/2019 14:31

Hi everyone, thought I'd share my story with you as it might give hope to some who've taken a while for things to get back to 'normal' after stopping cerezette.
I'm 35 and came off cerezette a year ago. I'd been on it for around ten years; I had a serious DVT (blood clot) at 25 after which I couldn't use the combined pill. I had no periods whatsoever whilst I was on cerezette and no side effects, which was great! When I came off the pill however to TTC it took at least three months before I had any kind of bleed. I'm not really sure I ever had 'true' periods; my cycles from that point onwards lasted at least 38 days, sometimes far more; and when I did bleed it was only for about 2 days and very very light. We tried using ovulation tests but I never saw a positive result so it seemed increasingly unlikely that i would be able to conceive naturally. My DH and I had a full round of tests with nothing conclusive, and have recently been referred for fertility treatment. On Friday morning I posted back the forms to get the treatment started. I've been routinely taking pregnancy tests for a year and on Friday evening did another one as it had been over 40 days since my last bleed. I was in complete shock when I saw a very clear positive, then instantly did another two tests as I didn't believe what I was seeing!!!! It seems that at the exact same point that we stopped actively 'trying' was when we got lucky, im still in shock a few days later and very nervous that things might go wrong but happy to know that I have managed to conceive. Hopefully my story will be give hope to some of you. Be patient and give it some time and fingers crossed you'll get that BFP too xx

Comps83 · 05/05/2019 14:44

Aaaaw congratulations @Avocuddles

xoxhayleyxox · 05/05/2019 16:27

@Avocuddles congrats, that's lovely!!
@Comps83 how you doing?
@Roo3125 deffo sounds positive! Haha yeah get stocked up girl! I first tested about 9DPO and got my positive 10DPO, although I'm further along than I thought so I may have been 13DPO when I got my BFP x

Comps83 · 05/05/2019 20:39

Yeah I’m alright
Started to feel a bit nauseous

AfterLaughter · 06/05/2019 09:15

Wow I’ve missed a lot! Will go back and read.

25DPO here. No AF. Negative pregnancy test.

Can Cerazette really fuck a cycle up this bad?!

AfterLaughter · 06/05/2019 09:18

@amiejb25 Flowers Miscarriage sucks. Had 2 myself. Do whatever you need to do, for yourself.

@Avocuddle that’s reassuring. My cycle is screwed after only 18 months of Cerazette, I’ve no clue what’s going on with me!

Avocuddles · 06/05/2019 09:33

@AfterLaughter as I was on cerezette / cerelle so long and a combined pill prior to that I've no idea if it was the pill that screwed up my cycles or if they would have been that way regardless. Have you spoken to your GP about it? As I'm now in the latter half of my 30s mine was reassuringly quick to start fertility investigations and we were about to go for our first appointment at the fertility clinic when I got my very unexpected BFP last week. I'd convinced myself (and the doctors) that I wasn't ovulating but that clearly wasn't true. Am very nervous now about the next few weeks but relieved to know that I can get pregnant regardless of the very irregular cycles!

Roo3125 · 06/05/2019 10:30

I'm 7DPO today! I keep going through the 'maybe I am' motions and spotting every little twinge in my lower stomach, to 'don't be ridiculous' and realising that it's unlikely after only one 'proper' try.

After getting rid of my cold, it's back again in full force today! 🤢 Maybe that's a good sign? Who knows!

I'll probably test in 3 days just to see. I have a hen do a week on Saturday, so I'll need to know in advance.

That's a shame about the long cycle @AfterLaughter! Could be similar to my own maybe? I was CD55/56 and I'm sure that I must have ovulated in that time.

tisonlymeagain · 06/05/2019 11:49

Hi gang! Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet, busy bank holiday weekend. Just catching up…

@Roo31257dpo already? That’s come around quick! Fingers crossed that this is your month! Good luck holding off testing…haha!

@Avocuddles Thanks for sharing your happy positive story, really helps to keep the faith!

@AfterLaughter I think the pill can screw things up massively - do you know if/when you ovulated for sure? You may have ovulated late. Even with a positive OPK it doesn’t mean you actually ovulated, you can gear up a couple of times for it.

@Comps83 As sucky as it is, nausea is a nice positive sign!

@xoxhayleyxox Scan dates always take forever to roll around! All worth it in the end though.

As for me, I am CD 5, AF has just gone. Glow App says OV due CD16 which is what it was last month, but still wary that the pill might have messed things up so will start with OPKs on CD8 so Thursday this week. Also temping this month. Trying to feel positive about this month and the silver lining is I have a bottomless brunch at the weekend with some old friends which I can enjoy because I won’t be on the 2WW.

Roo3125 · 06/05/2019 22:57

@tisonlymeagain I know! Can't believe it either but hoping that the next few days go quickly too!

I'm having some really odd sensations and twinges in my lower abdomen on the left side tonight. Not wanting to symptom spot but I'm hoping that's maybe a positive sign! Plus my shit immune system! 😂🙄

Roo3125 · 07/05/2019 07:35

Did an ic test strip at 8DPO 😂 obviously nothing there other than an evap line! 🙄

tisonlymeagain · 07/05/2019 08:58

Haha @Roo3125 I knew you'd cave.

I'm going to try so hard not to test before AF due this cycle. I say that now of course...

xoxhayleyxox · 07/05/2019 10:08

@Roo3125 hahah and so it begins! You're only a few days away now though, exciting!!

Roo3125 · 07/05/2019 10:45

@xoxhayleyxox @tisonlymeagain I know 🤦‍♀️ I'm awful haha! My frers won't arrive till at least Thursday so I guess that will stop me till then! 😂🙄

I keep burping today and I've never really burped before. Need to stop symptom spotting!

Abi58 · 07/05/2019 14:14

@Roo3125
That's sounds good and exciting! Keeping everything crossed for you!

@tisonlymeagain
Sounds like we might be on a similar cycle! Af arrived Friday (although was only light Friday and Saturday and I'd say Sunday was very light of spotting...first af since stopping the pill at the end of March so could just be my system getting back to normal :s
If I can count that as af I'm cd5 and apps say I'll ovulate cd14-16 (Sorry tmi but I'm ridiculously horny today...was on he pill for 12 years and this is the first real bleed so no idea if that's normal haha!) Smile

tisonlymeagain · 07/05/2019 14:25

@Abi58 This was my second 'bleed' after coming off the pill and it's nowhere near as heavy as pre-pill. Practically gone bar a bit of spotting at the end of Day 3. Not sure whether that's a bad sign or not, though I am not hating having light periods!
