TTC after coming off Cerazette

Hi everyone!

Me and my boyfriend have decided to try for a baby. I’ve been on Cerazette for about 8 years with one break a few years back. I stopped taking the mini pill 16 days ago and still no bleed. Usually if I miss 1 day I’ll bleed the following week. I’ve taken a test which came back negative but wondering if it’s too early?
Can anyone else share their experience with coming off cerazette and their first bleed and/or conception please?! I’m desperate to get pregnant!

Thanks in advance

Hayley x

The guy actually said to me that he's running out of bags as he keeps double bagging them for me 🤦‍♀️😂

Rosie2531 · 13/03/2019 19:43

My sister says that she went through the same for weeks with her last. So fed up!

amiejb25 · 13/03/2019 21:17

Hey!
So pleased to find others in the same boat coming off cerazette! I’m TTC 1st baby have only been off the mini pill a few days and have severe cramping with pink ish loss. Totally unsure of cycles and ovulation but only time will tell 😱 xx

MountAbora · 13/03/2019 21:24

Heya,
It’s good to find others in a similar boat to me! I came off the pill just over a week ago but was a bit flaky taking it at the end. TTC baby 1.
Having cramping & intense mood swings which is very unlike me!

Comps83 · 14/03/2019 17:24

20 days now
Still no withdrawal bleed

Rosie2531 · 14/03/2019 19:00

4 weeks for me (I went back and counted). I think though that I might have had a small withdrawal bleed now - but literally a day and not very much at all.

Still no sign of af though. I put my details on to the flo app and we would have dtd during my highest conception times 🙄 well, if I count that tiny bleed as af... so I'll just keep waiting and see what happens 😂

Rosie2531 · 14/03/2019 19:01

@MountAbora I was the same at the end. Taking at different times of the day, missing or taking two in one day if I missed 🙄 😂

Comps83 · 14/03/2019 19:04

Am I right I thinking though. That the mini pill doesn’t actually stop ovulation?

Rosie2531 · 14/03/2019 19:11

Cerazette doesn't but Cerelle does in half of the women who take it 🤔 maybe why some people get pregnant right away and some take longer to regulate?

So I have no idea really when I would have ovulated but no sign of af and it will be 4 weeks on Saturday since I stopped!

Comps83 · 14/03/2019 19:13

I really didn’t envisage this happening . I thought, stop taking pill . Withdrawal bleed 4 days later. Period one month after that.

Rosie2531 · 14/03/2019 19:15

I don't think I'll be going back on it tbh. It's scary how much it changes your body. I guess women stay on it for multiple years as well which can cause issues.

How old are you all, if you don't mind me asking? I've been on and off the mini pill since I was 14 - now 25(26 at the end of the month).

Comps83 · 14/03/2019 19:32

I’m 35. Have only been on mini pill maybe a yr. but years and years on combined
I’m not sure what other contraception I’d use tho. Don’t fancy implant. Injection lasts too long. Coil nearly killed my Aunty . So.....

MountAbora · 14/03/2019 20:26

I really liked the mini pill while I was on it but I’m surprised at how difficult it seems for everyone’s body’s to get back to normal after coming off.
I, like you @Comps83, thought it would be pretty straightforward with periods etc after coming off. How little did I know.....!

Rosie2531 · 14/03/2019 20:32

I had the implant for a year and had to beg them to remove it! Turned me crazy! 🤦‍♀️

amiejb25 · 15/03/2019 01:59

I’m 24. Was in Cerelle for 7 Years. Had no periods for the first few years and lost 5stone then have had semi regular periods for the past year - came off it a week ago and AF is here now. Fingers crossed!

Comps83 · 15/03/2019 06:17

Aw man wish it’d made me lose weight. I’ve piled it on. I’ve gone from almost underweight just overweight

Comps83 · 16/03/2019 07:37

How is everyone today?

Still no AF here . Sick of this limbo already

MrsBookworm · 16/03/2019 08:58

Hiya,

So glad I found this thread!
Here's my stats (not sure of all the lingo!)
Age: 30, husband: 28
Cycle 3
Came off Cerazette 15 months ago. It took 4 months for periods to come back as I didn't have any bleeds on it. Been on it off and on for most of my twenties.
We came off so early because my dr said it can take between 6-18 months to come out of your system. Knew we were getting married Aug 18 & would want to try after but delayed it until a few months ago as I started new job last yr.
So anyway, the point of my post is that after having regular periods from 11 yrs old with a flow that starts heavier, lasts for 7 days... the last few days I've had a really strange period. I was late on (which has never happened) and then quite light for two days then yesterday evening it suddenly went so heavy! I've got blood all over my sofa! So glad I wasn't at work at the time. Has this happened to anyone else?

Comps83 · 16/03/2019 10:15

Aw man 4 months!
I wouldn’t be too worried about the bleeding unless it stays excessive and you end up anemic. I’ve had a few occasions where I’ve had accidents like that too and back when I was having natural periods they were horrendously heavy sometimes.
I can’t understabd how it stays in your system so long. I feel a bit silly for not having done my homework on this

Comps83 · 16/03/2019 10:17

I’m also starting to wonder if I should just not bother at all. Considering it may take a year to go back to normal and then god knows how long to conceive. I already feel like I’m too old to be doing this and we said if it didn’t happen within a year we’d stop trying

Comps83 · 16/03/2019 10:30

Arrgg I just re read your post. Thought it said 6-8, but 18!!!!!
I’m having seconds thoughts about all this guys. If i was younger I wouldn’t be so bothered but I’m the wrong side of 35

Rosie2531 · 16/03/2019 10:50

Still no AF here 🙄

Don't put so much pressure on yourself. It's only been a short while. I wouldn't say 35 was old at all. Why not book a GP appointment and see what advice they would have?

Comps83 · 16/03/2019 10:59

Ah it’s still v early days. They would just tell me to wait. I’m just getting myself wound up

Rosie2531 · 16/03/2019 11:34

Try and get out over the weekend to take your mind off it all. Being stressed will only make things worse (although I can't really talk lol!)

I would still book an appointment and have a chat about the effects of the pill. They could do a hormone/blood check.

xoxhayleyxox · 16/03/2019 11:48

Hey ladies!
@MrsBookworm I always used to be SO heavy, the reason for going on the pill at 16 (now 24, nearly 25). I’ve had my first period since coming off the pill 3 and a half weeks ago which was really light, although I’m not sure they’ll stay that way. I wouldn’t worry too much, your body is probably confused and things will settle, but you’ve deffo come to the right place!
@Comps, you absolutely are not too old, don’t worry about your age. 35 is still young! You need to go and do something fun this weekend and take your mind off of all this, it WILL happen when the time is right and not a moment before. Please don’t work yourself up over it xx
