Hi all, some of you may remember me... i was active in this thread last year. I am 42 and we started ttc baby no.4 in September. But after few months, my DH got cold feet so we put the whole thing on hold.
DH eventually decided that he really wanted to try again, but despite of all charting, vitamines, healthy living, timing Dtd and anything else we could think of, it was disappointment after disappointment, every cycle. I stopped visiting this thread as it was too heartbreaking, and accepted eventually that it was probably not meant to be... so we just got on with our life, didn't bother with contraception as I figured it was not happening.
Now, fast forward to today...AF is due today but no show..so I flippantly decided to use one of the cheapo tests I still had lurking at the back of cupboard...and I got a very faint positive!! Eek, I really cannot believe this, I am absolutely shaking! I have no idea what DPO I am, but it's cd25 so very early days... Sorry for barging back in this conversation from out of the blue, but I just wanted to share the good news! Do not give up hope ladies! I think perhaps my totally relaxed attitude about ttc actually did the trick??? but I know it is so difficult to not obsess about it when you want it so badly. Fingers crossed for all of us! xx

Congratulations Ameliel!!

BooseysMom · 19/03/2019 16:35

@mellongoose .. thanks for your msg. Now it's my turn to say sorry that AF came. Hugs xx

Catconfusion · 19/03/2019 16:44

Thanks @Chatbash72 I'm going to see how I feel. I'm bleeding now and to be frank there's a lot of it and seems very fresh. Hard to believe I have a lining issue. I have to say I feel relieved. It feels like I needed a good bleed after ERPC so maybe why the embryo didn't stick. I'm going to see the doctor on Monday and have another conversation with her about it as if it's not a lining issue we can't see why we'd need to wait. Xx

Littleblessings7 · 19/03/2019 17:15

Hiya ladies, I’m new here & so I’ll apologise now in case I stuff up what & where I’m posting.

I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter and working at giving here a sibling. 🙏🏻👼🏻

I’m in that dreaded limbo state of being “late” although with a cycle of 28-32 days.......it’s either 6days or 2 days late. I’m 21 days post ovulation. Had implantation light tiny bleed two morning days 7&8 after ovulation. Sore nipples & fatigue, increased hunger & cramping on & off for a few weeks. All pointing to pregnancy.......but I’m driving myself mad with so many bfn test results.

Any other ladies in the same boat right now? Would love to chat and share support with others going through this right now 😉

CateyA · 19/03/2019 17:22

Congratulations Ameliel

Yep tww a bugger. I almost know it’ll be a negative but Ive got all excited anyway. I can do an early test tomorrow... I’m almost tempted to test tonight but I know that’s a waste of money!

So so sorry for your losses. I have not experienced that but I have experienced the feeling of awful pressure regarding my age and wish for a baby. My only advice is be kind to yourself and take things one day at a time. Big hugs 💐

CateyA · 19/03/2019 17:31

Hi little-blessings

I’ve read a good few stories about negative tests initially turning to positive a few weeks later so don’t give up! My best mate did several and finally got a positive about 4/5 days later than her period was due.

I’m in tww too but alas I’m a week after letz ? Treatment on my cervix too so no way to know if I have implantation bleeding etc. And I’m usually v tiered and have sore boobs week before totm so not able to find any signs there either

I’m trying to gear myself up for a negative but got some reason I felt super hopeful and got myself all excited post ovulation which is fun but will be a bit of a bump when A/F arrives 😞

Hobbes39 · 19/03/2019 17:37

Haven't caught up on the thread yet, so apologies I'm not responding to everyone, but just wanted to share the news that my NIPT tests all are back LOW risk! Hurray!! So so relieved!! X

@Chatbash72 and @Boseysmom thanks. Yes pleased with result but struggling now. Ive been on cloud 9 since Saturday but is wearing off.

Did anyone else have pains after EC? Am three days post transfer and have lower back pain, massive bloating and really sore boobs. I think it’s the progesterone pessaries to be honest. This afternoon was convinced I was bleeding but nothing. Tummy feels all stretchy and getting like tugging pains which I presume is from EC and possibly ovaries protesting 🤣🤣🤣. Next Friday seems so far away 😞. Really starting to think it hasn’t worked as feel like Af is coming but it would be so early as not due till a week tomorrow and thats even if I have a normal 28 day cycle.

Hobbes39 · 19/03/2019 19:10

Trying to catch up - welcome to new folks, sorry some of you have had a hard time.
@Cleozeta - that's great news that the doc you saw this time was so much better than the last one, it definitely helps feeling they are on your side at least! (also agree with reality - cyclogest is horribly waxy, so back door is much less messy!)
@Ameliel - congratulations!
@Realitysucks - cramping & bloating and feeling like you are getting period are all normal after egg collection - it's all a bit tender in there. I know it feels ages, it's hard not to analyse everything - but basically there is no way of knowing as progesterone is responsible for a lot of the symptoms, so try to distract yourself as best you can! (I was useless tho..!)
Sorry to those of you with AF - she's such a cow sometimes - never comes when you want her, but then turns up when you don't. X

Realitysucks · 19/03/2019 20:24

@Hobbes39 sorry missed your post on NIPT that’s great news so pleased for you! Trying to distract myself as we are searching for forever home to buy. Not sure if this is creating more stress but at least it’s taking my mind of tww for a bit each day 😬

Littleblessings7 · 19/03/2019 20:43

Hi CateyA, thank you....all looking good still then. I think feeling super hopeful is really important and if you are a believer in attracting to you what you really want in life - power of attraction & all that tree hugging hippy dippy stuff like I do, then keeping positive and visualisation is really great too if you can. It’s hard....takes persistence but wow....the reward will be magical. Boy this will be a long long week to come!!

littlemimosa · 19/03/2019 23:01

Hi all. Sorry I’m in and out but I’m so deflated right now. Still no ovulation at all and now CD54:(
Got all low Oestrogen symptoms again and just stuck with nowhere to go. I’ve literally tried everything except medical stuff. I can only think that this is it for me. No more periods at 42?!
So I feel a fraud even coming on cos I can’t even join in with conversations about cycles or hormones cos I don’t even have them. It’s so depressing and my 43rd is looming.
Sorry to moan.
Congrats to those with bfps and low risk results though. Always great to read.

mellongoose · 19/03/2019 23:37

Oh I'm sorry to read that @littlemimosa. I think we are a similar age. Did your cycles go a bit weird and then disappear or has it just stopped? Surely there must be some warning? Thanks

Cleozeta · 19/03/2019 23:53

Congrats on your low risk hobbes, great news! And Ameliel - congrats on your bfp.

Mimosa - sorry to hear things are still shit. Did you ever get testing? FSH or AMH? That would potentially answer your question of if its truly over.
I personally think you are just in the midst of another shit cycle and things may still return once it's done.

Russkispy · 20/03/2019 07:52

@Hobbes39 congratulations on low risk! What a relief!
@Ameliel congratulations on BFP!
@Realitysucks I know it's ages away but try to stay positive and keep yourself occupied
@littlemimosa sorry you're in a limbo land. Maybe this is one off and you'll return to normal cycles after all

Cleozeta · 20/03/2019 10:27

Reality - thankyou for the advice on the back door option for the pesseries, but one question...... how soon after they go in is it safe to fart?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Chatbash72 · 20/03/2019 12:05

@Littleblessings7 do you follow emma cannon on Instagram? I think you'd really like her ethos to fertility.
@@Hobbes39 great news.. x
@Ameliel yeah!! Another Bfp !!! Congratulations x
@littlemimosa that's pants... I am keeping fingers crossed that's it's just a duff cycle xx

Rose68 · 20/03/2019 16:27

@Littlemimosa have you been to the doctor? I can’t believe your cycle would stop at 42. Have you considered anything to get it going again? Clomid or femera? Maybe it’s worth talking to the doctor about it?

@Ameliel congratulations!

@Cleo 🤣

Sorry for everyone I have missed, I’ve been on a school trip today, so not much time. x

Gizmojo · 20/03/2019 17:44

Sorry, haven’t caught up in everything properly but @Hobbes39 congrats on the low risk result and @Cleozeta, really pleased you got a better doc this time!

Afm, being that I’m quite a bit older it’s basically all systems go for ivf. The dr said donor eggs gives us a much better chance but we just don’t have the money for it and I’m generally not sure if it’s for me. He talked about natural modified cycle but tbh I don’t see the benefit if it’s only trying for one egg at a time so as long as scan goes ok on the “official” initial consult (this was more of an informal chat about options etc) we want to try a standard round and see how/if I respond to drugs. Now the wait until early April for that.

Cleozeta · 20/03/2019 18:32

Gizmojo that sounds really positive! Looks like you got a good doctor too.
What is a natural modified cycle?
How was he about your results and your chances?

Gizmojo · 20/03/2019 19:06

From what I can make out, with the natural modified cycle they don’t stimulate ovulation they just let your body do it’s thing and mature one, but then they collect that and either do the normal mixing with sperm or ICSI if it’s needed. The theory being your body naturally selects the best quality eggs to release each month, so it’s about quality rather than quantity, which is important with age. He said it’s 10% chance of success with my own eggs “at my age” but that my afc and AMH are actually pretty good for my age (take THAT, 12-year old previous Doctor!). So, tbh the chances are slim but we feel like we’re running out of time and options. They’ll only do ivf with own eggs before the patient is 45 - not sure if that’s just them or everywhere

CateyA · 20/03/2019 20:25

I felt like I gained a ton of water weight post collection and I was crampy and sore and the quite emotional and under the weather for a week or two. I had a light period pretty soon after EC then another heavy one less than a month later xx
