KristieP2018, Rose68, Russkisspy... Thanks for the commiserations on AF arriving. This time she was very sly! All the signs pointed to v.early conception. But who am I kidding?..I'm 47! I just wish we'd tried harder a year after DS but we were in no place to consider it and now we are it's too late Sad

Gizmojo.. what a rubbish experience..no wonder you are feeling so low. I'm sorry. It's so humiliating when the so-called expert looks like he's only just out of nappies!! I hope you get a more positive reception at the over 40s clinic. Good luck

Gizmojo · 13/03/2019 19:02

Sorry I missed your question about where we go from here. We’ve decided to give ivf a try - probably just a couple of cycles - as time really is running out (I’ll be 45 in a few months!) and we kind of don’t feel we’ve got the luxury of waiting to see what happens any more, we’d rather take the guesswork out of it and speed things up if at all possible. Of course the other clinic may say no, the dr yesterday didn’t give any indication either way of whether we’d be good candidates. Our appointment at the other place is Monday too - good luck with yours, I hope you find someone more helpful than it sounds like the last one was x

Chatbash72 · 13/03/2019 19:53

So sorry about af @BooseysMom

Gizmojo · 13/03/2019 20:09

Thanks @Booseys and sorry to hear about af arriving Sad She’s a bloody cow!

littlemimosa · 13/03/2019 22:27

Booseys - so sorry hun. Big big hug from me x

Rose - electro acupuncture sounds brutal! I like my Chinese guy as I get a massage and herbs with it but I’d say go with whichever you feel most relaxed and comfortable with. I’d personally be reluctant to go with someone who was saying they couldn’t carry on treating me though?

Eloisa - good luck with your DE IVF. Keep up posted on your progress x

Russ - I think 2 blasts sounds amazing! 2 potential little people. I’ve got everything crossed for you x

Hobbes39 · 13/03/2019 22:54

Sorry about AF @BooseysMom it's just such a kick in the teeth every month Thanks
@Gizmojo - I'm always amazed at how bad some ivf doctors can be with their bedside manner. I hope you have more more helpful input from the other clinic. For what it's worth your follicle count is pretty good, so that's encouraging.
AFM I had another scan today - this time was our private harmony scan & bloods. Was so lovely to see my wee wriggly babies, still can't quite believe they are both there are so far so good... both measuring 11+6. I just have a nervous wait for the blood test results in approx 7 working days... I'm going to be so nervous taking that call!
I have some lovely scan pics - I can post them if anyone wants to see, but understand if not! X

I want to see!!!

Cleozeta · 13/03/2019 22:59

Gizmojo - I got offered no advice either, and a lot of things seemed to keep getting pointed back to my age, which was really irritating. I know how old I am, I don't need reminding! Thankfully DH had no issues, so it's just me and my old haggered eggs.

Hopefully your next clinic will be more helpful. Can you let me know how you get on, as having the same results we'd probably require the same treatments! I'll let you know what mine says too. Seeing a different doctor thankfully so hopefully they will actually have some useful advice this time. I'm not paying £200 to be told "you are old. Good luck and goodbye" again, so I will hancuff myself to the chair until they advise!! Grin

Realitysucks · 14/03/2019 08:38

Hi all haven’t caught up on thread yet but saw there are baby pics going so @Hobbes39 I’m jumping in on that lol. I wanna see the bubs 🤣🤣🤣

I’m off to clinic now girls for EC! Just praying they get a couple of good eggs! See you all when I wake up!!!! 😬

Hobbes39 · 14/03/2019 08:58

@Hobbes39 OMG they are so lovely. Two perfect little buns! How you are feeling ok and coping well with the pregnancy! I’m nervous over EC just hoping I won’t be in too much pain later !

BooseysMom · 14/03/2019 09:04

Thanks everyone..you're all so lovely. Smile. AF is particularly heavy and painful this month. The palps I've been getting are def associated with it and not caffeine although I suppose that can't help.

@Hobbes39.. good luck for your test results. Def send the scan photos! I even sent mine recently from 5 yrs ago. I had to as I wasn't on here then!

@Realitysucks.. good luck at your EC x

Hobbes39 · 14/03/2019 09:08

@Realitysucks - it's different for everyone I know, but for me EC wasn't painful apart from the time that they had to sit on me supposedly to push my ovary down to be able to reach it! (And that was managed with painkillers fine) The other times, I was fine just very groggy indeed from the sedative as I am sensitive to sedative and don't need much it appears! Good luck - will be thinking of you!
I'm still v tired a lot, and I have a def small bump already 😱, but other than that - other symptoms are mostly gone! Think part of the tiredness is actually background stress worrying (but trying not to) about it all being ok. Hopefully that will get better soon 🤞

Ahhh Hobbes they are lovely!

OMG these Chinese herbs are foul, I think I’m gonna puke! My Brutish Guy is lovely & obvs puts a lot of thought into what he’s doing. I do really feel some of his needles.
In contrast the Chinese lady didn’t seem to give much thought & wacked a load in my tummy & a couple in my legs & feet. I couldn’t feel anything until she hooked up a couple to the electric machine.
I prefer my British Guy ☹️

KristieP2018 · 14/03/2019 09:44

Aww Hobbes, they’re beautiful!

Megan2018 · 14/03/2019 09:48

Lovely scan pictures @Hobbes39
My NIPT (Harmony) results came back faster than the 7 working days quoted, bloods taken early on Weds 20th Feb and results back 8am Weds 27th so hopefully you won't have too long to wait! Mine came as an email too - no call.

Karigan195 · 14/03/2019 09:51

@Hobbes39. They had to redo my bloods for the NIPT as there weren’t enough of baby’s cells in the sample. Was the most torturous 2 weeks ever. Book a spa day and try to forget it perhaps for the entire week 😜

Hobbes39 · 14/03/2019 09:59

Oh god @Karigan195 - that must have been torture! How far on were you when you first had them done? Were you just v early?
I really want to have the results within the 7 working days - as it's actually my birthday (42🙈) a couple of days after that, so I'd love to know before my bday so I know if I can tell my parents when I see them. I wouldn't want to tell them if there was an issue tho as I cannot cope with their worry on top of mine! It's just quite genuinely getting harder to hide this last week - i think most people would just think I've got a bit fat, but my parents know me and know I usually have a relatively flat stomach (I'm a pear shape - I put weight on my arse not my belly usually) so they could suss when they see me. 😬

Oh and @Megan2018 - the clinic I went to said they call - in the evening - and then send the email...

OP posts:
Karigan195 · 14/03/2019 10:13

I was 10 and 5 the first time. Apparently it just happens sometimes.

I was struggling to hide it by then too. 16 weeks exactly today and definitely no hiding it now!

Hobbes39 · 14/03/2019 16:39

@Realitysucks - been thinking of you this afternoon - I share everything crossed that they got 2-3 lovely eggs from you 🤞🤞 hope you are doing ok xx

OP posts:
Hobbes39 · 14/03/2019 16:39

Have, not share!

OP posts:
Megan2018 · 14/03/2019 17:11

The clinic said to me it is 4% that fail to get enough cells the first time? So @Karigan195 was just unlucky I think.
5 working days seems to be the average lately so I am sure you'll hear well before birthday.
I was the same but waited for both NHS scan and the NIPT result before breaking the news to family. But they don't live nearby so I found it easy to hide away until then.

Realitysucks · 14/03/2019 19:23

@Hobbes39 I am ok just felt a bit tired and slept a bit. Well they got three eggs. One was immature so couldn’t be used. One had only just matured so they are saying there is a lower chance of fertilisation with that one. One was good. Both been ICSI and they will call me tomorrow. I’m not holding out much hope to be honest that it will fertilise. DH is being all positive ( I want to hit him) 🤣🤣🤣 I know I need to be more upbeat about it all but the odds are not looking good 😞

BooseysMom · 14/03/2019 19:23

@Hobbes39.. The photos have made me cry. Their tiny noses!
AF causing such high emotions.
I came across this article...
thegoodshufu.wordpress.com/2017/09/21/hidden-hope-in-fertility-stats-for-women-40/
... it made me cry too. I wish all consultants could be this positive.
