Marty 77! Congrats ! That is such awesome news.

Like you I did everything on my own with my 2dc. Sometimes exdp appeared and helped but the burden lay firmly with me in terms of raising the kids , house , juggling career. I left him (more accurately asked him to leave ) when they were 2 and 5 so then it was full on single parenthood. It will be so lovely for you to have a partner who is there for you . That's one of my motivators. I think having a baby with my new DP would be a vastly different experience! We have just sold my house and buying a bigger house so we are further along in that respect. Really delighted for you .

barnburntdown · 12/03/2019 22:02

Also , I hear what you ladies are saying about stress . It does make me wonder though we are only 4 cycles in. Keep telling myself it took me 4 and 6 cycles respectively to conceive my dcs . But then I wasn't old stressed and smoking..

littlemimosa · 12/03/2019 22:39

‘Old stressed and smoking’ 😂 Smokin ‘ hot or just fags?!

Rose - yes both dc conceived easily.

Cleo - I think acupuncture can only do so much, I think we have to look within ourselves too. I just know that stress is affecting me badly.

Booseys - take a test!! You never know...🤞🤞🤞

barnburntdown · 12/03/2019 22:57

Hahaha little mimosa. I must be ok I guess , my DP is at 35, a toyboy 😘! I don't feel too hot right now though. Day 5of AF & still going strong,.. and by my reckoning fertility window opens tomorrow as I suspect I ov on cd11...

Rose68 · 12/03/2019 23:31

@Cleo I’m pretty sure something we are taking is causing the shorter LP, probably dhea. But I’ve read so much good stuff about it I don’t want to stop taking it. I have reduced it down slightly tho.

@Booseys definitely test!

I’m not so stressed these days, not since I quit working and started acupuncture, now I’m just bored, there is so much to do at home but I never quite get round to it 😩

Cleozeta · 13/03/2019 08:02

I have cut down my dhea too, on 50mg now, but yeah I've read so much good stuff too am reluctant to give it up!

You sound similar to me rose, I am also not working at the moment, so not stressed, have lots to do but strugglimg to get round to it! We've put the house on the market so thats helped me stop overthinking ttc, which helps, weirdly

Russkispy · 13/03/2019 08:21

2 made it to blast stage. The third was developing to slowly and eventually stopped. 1 will be transferred shortly and the other will be biopsied and freeze. A bit rubbish news but still glad we've got one in the "bank"

Lexilooo · 13/03/2019 08:44

Congratulations Marty and welcome @deb813

I started using ovulation tests this month, clearblue advance ones, had two days of flashy faces and this morning the sodding monitor won't work! Argh! So even if I buy another box I am likely to miss peak this month. Will have to just guess I suppose - so frustrating!!

Will just have to keep going with DTD for the rest of the week

Marty77 · 13/03/2019 09:16

@barnburntdown yes you're right and I have several friends DS had babies turning 40 in the last 2 years some with new partners some married and on the whole no one has anything negative to say I've been theStepford wife to a selfish husband and I've been a single working mum and worked my way up to a responsible management job but I'm stretched and before it's too late just want to be happy and finally have a happy family I don't want to struggling on on my own anymore x

eloisa246 · 13/03/2019 09:30

hi all,
Marty - big congrats, what wonderful news and romantic timing too.
Booseys - hoping you get a wonderful surprise too whether this month or in the months to come.

Mimosa - I totally get supplement fatigue and sounds like a great idea to give your mind and body a break.
Hope everyone else is doing well. I'm waiting for cycle day 1 so can book in my baseline scan. x

Hobbes39 · 13/03/2019 09:41

@Russkispy - that's great news! Id say that's pretty good numbers to be honest - I've never had a day 5 fresh transfer as my clinic always wanted at least 4 on day 3 to risk going to day 5, so the fact you have 2 getting to blast is excellent! Fingers crossed for the next 1.5 weeks! 🤞

Congrats Marty! I have been off the mini pill for a fortnight now so I have no idea when period is due. Normally I start to bleed after not taking it for a day (not very compliant) but I have had nothing. I did do a test (neg) but assume it’s far too soon. Just got a bit over excited x

Marty77 · 13/03/2019 13:19

@deb813 thank you shows it can happen over 40 4 mths off the pill I was worried about nothing now need to make wedding plans quick :)

Rose68 · 13/03/2019 13:23

For those of you doing acupuncture I have a question....

I have been seeing a British acupuncturist, he is Zita West accredited, costs £45 per session. He has been hinting that soon he won’t carry seeing on me because it’s not working, and I already have 2 DC and its not good to be obsessed etc etc (obviously I am totally obsessed).

So this morning I tried a Chinese acupuncturist, that cost £35. The treatment was quite different, but they want me to commit to 3 months worth of sessions (pay 10 months get 3 months free). Plus they sold me £30 worth of herbs.

So trying to save myself £10 by trying the Chinese lady, actually cost me quite a lot more.

Does anyone have any advice on who I should carry on seeing?

Russkispy · 13/03/2019 13:59

@Hobbes39 thank you! Both blasts are AB quality. Doc and embryologist ate very happy, 1 was transferred and 1 biopsies and gone through PGS test and I'll get results next week. And it's already on "ice". Been giving lots of supplements to take to support implantation etc. Now onto 2ww
@Rose68 I used western and Chinese acupuncturist before and I have to say treatments are completely different! I feel like western ways with needles hardly "touch" you whereas with Chinese, omg, I felt electricity going through my body on a couple of occasions. Every time I left her I felt it was worth as I felt those needles and felt that they worked. PS I got Clomid for you. A bottle of 10 tablets, for 2 rounds. Let me know if you still want it.

BooseysMom · 13/03/2019 14:09

@Russkispy...great to hear your news about the egg transfer..keeping all crossed for you x

Well I didn't need to test.. AF was just waiting in the wings all along and finally made an appearance last night so i'm out again Sad ..onwards we march ...

Rose68 · 13/03/2019 14:29

@Russkispy it was electroacupuncture this morning, so there was definitely electricity going through me! That was quite a surprise, I hadn’t realised they would use electric. I’m still not sure what to do though. 😩
I will pm you re the clomid.

Rose68 · 13/03/2019 14:44

Oh no sorry @Booseys x

Russkispy · 13/03/2019 15:14

@BooseysMom sorry it's AF Sad

Cleozeta · 13/03/2019 16:06

Rose - I would definitely go with Chinese. It originates there, so they would be more old school traditional, which is why it was successful practice from the start. Also the herbs can be great too

Gizmojo · 13/03/2019 16:36

Hi all

Been mia for a while as been a bit all over the place. Had some tests done and the results weren’t great. FSH 10.4, AMH 2.7 and scan on cd16 showed only seven follicles one side and one the other. The dr wasn’t very positive but then said “this is how we can help you” and literally pulled out a price list - no explanation of any of the options other than saying I’d “probably need the maximum level of drugs”. We’ve an appointment at a different clinic in our area on Monday as I didn’t get a feel for whether he was even saying there was a good chance with ivf. Feeling very down, so lovely to catch up with some of your positive news. Big hugs and baby dust to all

Cleozeta · 13/03/2019 17:35

Gizmojo - that's very interesting as your results are amost identical to mine. FSH 10.4, AMH 2.9 AFC 8 (4 on each side)
Although my doctors reaction was different. She said that was normal for my age (41, nearly 42 at the time) and that as i had conceived recently (cp in oct) I wouldn't need any assistance. This was followed by "good luck" and an open door.

This upset me, less because of the results (they were kind of what I expected) but more because I wasn't offered any solutions. We don't have any other clinics in our area, except for one which is highly connected to the NHS. IVF is no longer available on the NHS in our area but the clinic did seem to be heavily focussed on referrals and 'younger' people, so I've not tried there. I've hassled the original clinic with the crap doctor and insisted on another appointment to discuss other posibilities, although they won't do iUI over 36 which would have been my first choice. I'm seeing them on Monday.
What options did your doctor give you and where do you think you'll take it from here?

Cleozeta · 13/03/2019 17:46

Interestingly she also said it was unusual to have as many as 8 follicles with an AMH as low as 2.9

KristieP2018 · 13/03/2019 18:05

So sorry @booseysmom Sad

Gizmojo · 13/03/2019 18:08

Cleo that’s really interesting. I’m 44 and what upset me was that he didn’t seem to offer any advice, just made it sound like it was nigh on impossible for me to get pregnant naturally, that I’d probably miscarry and that even Ivf was a low chance. But everything he was saying seemed to be stock “at your age”, I wasn’t sure if he was really referring to our results. OH’s sperm analysis wasn’t great either - some malformed sperm, a bit higher than they’d like to see. Like I say, no real advice or opinion offered just a price list! It’s a place that does NHS and private and I too get the feeling they’re much more geared to younger couples. The place we’re going next week has a specific over-40s programme so we’ll see what they say. Didn’t help he was about 14 himself!! Hmm
