Hello!

I've just turned 24 and me and husband have just started TTC first baby. Thought that it would be good to have a thread going with a few people in a similar situation! Very few of my friends are in the same situation as we got married early and now thinking of babies whilst lots of friends are still at uni :)

Anyone one to join a group discussion with how things are going?

hey 👋🏼
I’m new here so hopefully alright to join!
I’m 24 and my husband and I have been ttc for 3 years due to me having PCOS.
I’m using OvuSense (check it out if you haven’t before), Inofolic, folic acid, vitamin D and just started Metformin SR yesterday (it’s kicking my butt).
I haven’t ovulated since I started ovusense, and I can’t say I ovulated before as OPK’s never worked for me 😑
I just feel like I’m at a complete dead end and it’ll never happen for us 😩

cc1616540 · 15/04/2019 13:58

@L0205 the same here! I'm probably abit overweight from a BMI point of view but have lost 1.5 stones throughout us trying so I would have thought that would have helped slightly! I never thought it would be difficult to be honest.

I might end up getting my partner one of those 😂 but God same!! It's scary to not know but then also finding out there is something 'wrong' is scarier!!

Housemccarthy · 15/04/2019 19:53

Hi

Thought I'd join also. I'm almost 29 and came off Brevinor at the end of August last year. Been ill for a few months at time of ovulation so a little frustrating!

Bought some ovulation strips too as cycles are still varying in length!

L0205 · 15/04/2019 20:12

@cc1616540 yeah haha it might work! But my GP called me today and booked an apt for the 23rd to do some tests! She also said I need to do another preg test next week but it has to be clear blue... that's if my period doesn't come of course Smile
When are you going to test? And what happened with the opks, which ones were you using? Xx

L0205 · 15/04/2019 20:15

@MrsPTTC don't ever lose hope!! I've met quite a few people who have also been diagnosed with pcos and they managed to get pregnant naturally without even trying x

mrssunshinexxx · 15/04/2019 20:22

Hey please can I join so pleased I've found this thread.
27 #ttc1 starting May just taking folic acid
Won't be taking my temperature or using the ovulating sticks just tracking ovulation though ovia app as hubby works away so need a bit of a clue as to when is the best time
Good luck everyone x

Hey 👋
I'm 28 and TTC #1 it's very exciting but extremely surreal! Half of my friends have babies/toddlers and the other half are horrified at the thought so it's a funny combination of support atm! Would be fab to join this - any tips? This is my cycle 1 and currently ovulating so DTD as much as poss 😊

JadeSB · 15/04/2019 23:26

Welcome newbys 👋🏻 wishing you all luck! @MeganMama28 I've now started dtd every other day throughout cycle, as I found dtd like made around ovulation both stressful, tiring and overall unsuccessful lol but everyone is different!

MeganMama28 · 16/04/2019 11:48

@JadeSB I think because it's our first cycle TTC, it's new and exciting so the momentum and sex drive (sorry if TMI! ) is high - for now! I agree I don't think we could keep this up long term I'd be exhausted! Good tip on every other day sounds like a plan moving forward.

Has anyone tried the pineapple core theory? Tempted to go and buy some!

JadeSB · 16/04/2019 11:56

@MeganMama28 I'm on cycle 8 now and ttc has worn me out mentally and physically!

And no I've never of that? Do elaborate 🙂

mrssunshinexxx · 16/04/2019 12:03

I've heard every other day is better too
Ooh I eat pineapple every day! .,, do tell!

lornz · 16/04/2019 12:53

26 and TTC no2

We tried before Christmas with no BFP and decided to take a break. Back on the folic acid and going to try again from July.

Good luck ladies.

MeganMama28 · 16/04/2019 13:19

I was having a look at ways to encourage implantation naturally and kept seeing raving reviews about eating pineapple core bc of its high levels of the enzyme Bromelain helping the egg to implant!

After you've ovulated, they say to eat one to two slices of pineapple (including the core!) each day.

This is one of the links that breaks it down:
natural-fertility-info.com/bromelain-pineapple-for-implantation.html

It may just be an old wives tale but keen to give it a try so I've popped to the shop and got mine! Time will tell!

mrssunshinexxx · 16/04/2019 15:08

I'm currently taking folic acid with the combined vit d thinking about taking the seven seas pregnacare too can any one advise please ?

mrssunshinexxx · 16/04/2019 17:12

Going to just stick with what I'm taking actually, called into boots on my way home and the seven seas is the same but just adds iron x

MeganMama28 · 16/04/2019 22:57

@mrssunshinexxx I'm just taking the combined folic acid with vit d (from boots) too and recently b12. I found it worked out cheaper for me this way rather than the brands but there may be deals on amazon

cc1616540 · 17/04/2019 19:48

@L0205 strange it has to be a clear blue one! Do they not appreciate how expensive they are 😂

I just bought some off of Amazon that a friend recommended, they weren't expensive but I just found I never had a second line, just the one to say I did it properly so it just kept me thinking that there was something wrong with me because I wasn't ovulating... apparently if your CM goes like EWCM then your body is ovulating so I'm hoping that's the case and it was just the opks that were wrong. Im going to start using the new ones ive bought on Monday I think, that's the start of my window according to my app..!

How are you finding waiting until your appointment? I'm so impatient. Good youre getting tests and things tho, hopefully that helps clear some stuff up! X

Ps. Sorry for not replying sooner, I completely missed the email!! 🤭

helpasisterout · 19/04/2019 12:39

TTC#1

CD15 for me and the 3rd day of EWCM with blood.. not bright just dull and not very much either. My research tells me it could just be ovulation bleeding which is normal but it's really getting me down, we had DTD every day except yesterday as I felt so tired and not sure I love the idea of doing it where there is blood involved even if it is normal 🤷🏻‍♀️ ovulation due to happen in two days according to glow and a fairly faint but still visible line on a cheap OPK this morning so maybe not lost the opportunity just yet! Anyone got any advice for me?

Period isn't due until 5th May so quite sure it isn't that.

Sigh.. why do you see so many pregnant people when you are trying

Good luck to you all this Easter weekend whatever stage you are at!

1990shopefulftm · 19/04/2019 19:11

Hello, I'm 24 and waiting on AF this month to start TTCing. Nice to see other people my age on here, none of my friends have had kids or a pregnant yet.

cc1616540 · 19/04/2019 20:04

@helpasisterout I've never heard of that before but it seems like it's nothing to worry about and can be part of ovulation as you say. Good luck to you, sorry no advice from me as I never got two lines on any opks I did in the past 😔

I'm currently CD12 and my window starts Monday according to Ovia. I've bought some OPKs though so going to try and make sense of them when I start next week.

@1990shopefulftm Hello! Is it your first time TTC? I have a few friends with children and it's getting more and more frequent. I'm 24 too and I wanted to get all my pregnancies out the way before I was 25 so that isn't going to happen now 😂 I'm 25 in October so won't even get 1 done!

1990shopefulftm · 19/04/2019 20:15

@cc1616540
Yes it is (would have helped if i'd remembered to put that in my post:P). I turned 24 last month so hoping that I'll be pregnant come 25, i've always been quite set on having a two kids by 30 but life can have different ideas so will see.
The broodiness is getting ever worse, i've been taking folic acid since the beginning of march and been taking vit d for a while and i had to stop drinking alcohol and coffee for health reasons a while ago so hoping my bodies in as good shape as it can be.

cc1616540 · 19/04/2019 20:19

@1990shopefulftm Haha! It's not the easiest thing to reply or post on here so don't worry 😂. That's exciting! Welcome to the journey, hopefully it isn't too long a journey for you! 🤗
You sound v prepared... good luck! X

1990shopefulftm · 19/04/2019 20:36

@cc1616540 Thank you:) I m generally quite patient with most things but feel like I'm going to find it difficult to be when it comes to becoming pregnant.

cc1616540 · 19/04/2019 20:41

@1990shopefulftm well it's taken me 2 years so far, so patience is something I've had to develop. I'm having a really good go at it this month and feel a lot more knowledgeable so fingers crossed!
I have gone through all the emotions I think, motivation, desperation, patience, hopeful, disappointment.. you name it!

Rosie2531 · 19/04/2019 20:58

Only one of my 'same age' friends has a child. The rest of my DP's friends who are 28-32 have a few children. I think it's becoming more common for folk to have children in their mid thirties due to 'waiting for the right time' etc.

We were due to be married next year (and probably still will but a much smaller wedding) but decided that we didn't want to spend thousands and then have to wait even longer to ttc. We'll see how long it takes for us tc and then make the decision on the wedding etc :) we're comfortable in our family rented house (which is guaranteed and practically our own) so can still save money even with a dc. We just want kids whilst we're still young ourselves. Both in guaranteed jobs at 30k and will be on 40k in 3 years 🙄 if we said 'let's wait till...' there would always be something to wait till.
