@Tchelsea it is a good tool, but like you say just another thing to become obsessed with! It's helped me pin point my ovulation day bang on and predict my periods (I use the app Fertility Friend) but been away this weekend with friend so a bit of hot tub and a few drinks and my temps dropped so much that it's not where it should be and now I'm an emotional wreck- even before AFs arrived! AF due Thursday Confused

Tchelsea · 28/01/2019 10:11

@careynurse that's amazing though if it's helped pinpoint ovulation! Who knew finding one day a month would be so tricky??

I'm a bit of a novice with this so I'm not sure how it works... Does your temp rise when you're expecting?

hcopp · 28/01/2019 10:39

@tchelsea @careynurse BBT won't help predict ovulation as such, as your thermal shift only comes a couple of days after it's taken place. Unless you're going to use OPKs, the best way to actively predict ovulation/peak fertility is looking out for EWCM.

BBT will however show a pattern over the course of a few months (ov'ing between days 14-16,e.g.) and is also good for seeing if temp is staying high when you're expecting AF, which might mean a BFP!

(God, look at me with all the acronyms! 😆)

careynurse · 28/01/2019 10:44

@Tchelsea after a few months of everything you become an expert in it all! Haha
So generally the day after you ovulate your temp should rise and stay risen until AF arrives because your body releases progesterone in prep for pregnancy and this increases your body temp. So around AF it should fall again....or stay high if your pregnant!
Hence my worrying that I've overdone it this weekend and my temps dropped for some reason! No early AF yet though! Still holding a glimmer of hope!
The only thing is you can't put your life on hold 'just incase' as I've almost done that for 8 months now and this weekend I though probability is slim so I've had a few glasses of bubbles and a few hours in the hot tub! But god I feel guilty!
Fertility Friend is a good app for temping.

Goodyear2019 · 28/01/2019 10:59

Hi, I'm TTC Baby #1 and on cycle 7 this month. I'm currently in the horrible 2 week wait with AF due this weekend.
I've been using Flo to track my cycle but have just started using Ovia fertility app which is great for tracking AF, CM etc. I'm also tracking my BBT, which is useful but as someone else said, can be something else to obsess over!

I wondered if anyone else has tried acupuncture or knows much about it in regard to fertility?

Tchelsea · 28/01/2019 11:35

@hcopp Hahaha the acronyms are so confusing! I keep having to revert back to a page with all of them listed! Thanks for the info!

@careynurse Ok so that's another thing I definitely should take note of then!! Always wondered why I feel like I have a fever around ovulation! I definitely agree with not putting your life on hold.. I think that can cause more stress on the body which causes the viscous cycle!

@Goodyear2019 Hi! Sending you lots and lots of baby dust! How do you find the Ovia app? I just downloaded Fertility Friend, but had been using Period Tracker before that.

OP posts:
Goodyear2019 · 28/01/2019 11:41

Thanks @Tchelsea you to! I've only been using Ovia for a month but I'm getting used to it and I prefer it to Flo. I started using it because I wanted to record my temp as well, but couldn't find an option for that on Flo (maybe is there, but I couldn't see it). Initially it felt like there were loads of things to record, but you can remove the ones you don't want, I don't record things like weight, activity, blood pressure etc.

S311 · 28/01/2019 13:35

I must try out the app recommendations. I have been using Woman Log. They have another app specifically for pregnancy.. kinda nice to separate the two. My AF would either be today or tomorrow. Sorry in advance for TMI - tiny bit of light brown spotting today making me nervous is on the way Confused
Thanks for explaining the temperature @hcopp I should invest in a thermometer!

Goodyear2019 · 28/01/2019 14:06

@S311 I find the apps helpful to keep track of symptoms as I have a terrible memory and don't always remember how I felt a month later. It has also helped me to see certain patterns so I know and don't get my hopes up waiting for AF. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Goodyear2019 · 28/01/2019 14:09

@careynurse sounds like we're at similar stages. How have you found reflexology? I'm thinking about trying acupuncture but want to find out a bit more before I go ahead

mrsawhite · 28/01/2019 15:27

I use Ovia. Have done for a couple of years. I like it. But obv its only really become useful now! Before I was just tracking my periods. Does it change when you do become preggers?

Goodyear2019 · 28/01/2019 15:43

@mrsawhite I believe Ovia does have a pregnancy mode, but you have to record that you're pregnant before it switches to that so I'm not sure what information it asks for or gives. Hopefully we'll have a reason to use it soon!

mrsawhite · 28/01/2019 17:16

Ah I see I did wonder! It changed when we decided we were TTC.

stitchwitch84 · 28/01/2019 17:52

Hello all! Also TTC child no. 1, with no success so far (one MC and one CP). I hate the two week wait! I'm due on on Saturday and I have a feeling I'm not pregnant this month, which is disappointing.

I have a horrible feeling of time pressure as my husband turns 60 in June (25 year age gap!) and I would really like to be pregnant by then, for all our sakes! (I also feel terribly guilty as he already has two adult children and now I'm making him do the baby thing all over again…I mean, he does say that he has always wanted more children but…argh!)

Baby dust to everyone!

Nfis · 28/01/2019 18:59

I'm also on cycle 1 ttc number 1... only just had my mirena coil removed so I don't really know where I am in a cycle so just waiting! Had a lot of nausea and sore boobs so maybe we got lucky first time! Trying to hold off taking a test as last one was bfn!

Baby dust to all!

TomThumb16 · 28/01/2019 19:23

I ovulated on the 16th of Jan and my husband and I had sex every other day leading up to that day and on that day.

Shortly after, (about 2 days) I began to feel light headed, and had bearable cramps.
Days following on from this my symptoms seemed to multiply.

It's now the day before my period is due, my breast are sore and massive!, have a huge headache and my lower abdomen is crampy.

Unfortunately, I have noticed some bleeding this morning. It's a medium red colour, not overly dark but, not light either.
It doesn't seem like my usual period as that's usually heavy and includes clots?
This is a medium flow, nothing major but, enough to wear a sanitary towel.

I was just hoping whether anyone has had a similar experience and it turned out to be a successful pregnancy ❤

This will be our first baby!

I'm still super crampy now, mega tender breasts and really emotional!
currently crying

mrsawhite · 28/01/2019 21:29

Sounds promising!

I really thought we had last month. I was 3 days late. I'm never late. Felt a bit sick. But then I came on. Was quite a short period. Does anyone else get ovulation bleeding? I'm definitely ovulating now. But I always get a day or so of spotting. Don't know how normal that is?!

S311 · 28/01/2019 22:58

@TomThumb16 I'm a newbie so not much help! I'm in a similar situation. Just trying to be patient and wait until Wednesday to test.
Hope you are feeling better Flowers

Tchelsea · 29/01/2019 08:09

I'm out this month :(. AF arrived in full force last night! Hopefully February will be the month!

@stitchwitch84 Hi! Time pressure is so horrible isn't it... As soon as I turned 30, something inside of me just switched and said righto, you need to get pregnant and you need to do it like now! Lots and Lots of baby dust to you!

@TomThumb16 Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

@mrsawhite I've never had ovulation bleeding and I don't really get EWCM that much around ovulation either so I'm wondering if maybe something is going on? I get huge Ovulation pains though, enough to wake me in the middle of the night sometimes!

OP posts:
hcopp · 29/01/2019 08:17

@tchelsea I'm sorry to hear that 😕

My temp seems to be on a downward trend past couple of days, but still not down to the cover line and still none of the usual pre AF spotting, so I hope I might still be in...? Hoping to make it to Saturday to do a test.

How is everyone else today?

HCxx

stitchwitch84 · 29/01/2019 08:24

@Tchelsea thank you! I've never had that maternal instinct kick in like you describe - I didn't even want kids while we were engaged, but as soon as we were married my body and brain both went, "Ok I want this man's children." It was so weird! I'm sorry you are out this month. I suspect I am too, but not certain yet…

Tchelsea · 29/01/2019 08:30

@hcopp I'm keeping everything crossed for you! Would be so lovely to hear positive news!!

@stitchwitch84 You're not out until she arrives!! Keep up the hope!

fabmaz · 29/01/2019 08:45

@Tchelsea sorry to hear - fingers crossed next month is your month!! 🤞🤞🤞
I'm still holding on for the weekend but just wish I knew already!
I'm feeling so exhausted at the moment :(

S311 · 29/01/2019 08:47

Sorry to hear that @Tchelsea Flowers

I'm waiting to test tomorrow morning. Trying not to think about it.
Best of luck @hcopp @stitchwitch84 keep us updated

Tchelsea · 29/01/2019 08:48

@fabmaz sending you a shower of baby dust!! The not knowing is honestly so much more difficult than I ever could have imagined! Especially when you just FEEL like you could be pregnant! Hoping the exhaustion is a good sign!
