Oh boy Karry, what a joyous day you’ve had today! Hope his mood improves.

Sorry for all the AFs.

Chat - according to It Starts With The Egg flossing your teeth is good for egg quality.

I ditched tampons too ladies but stitched to a mooncup.

Cleo - great news on the LP!

littlemimosa · 13/01/2019 22:46

SparrowSG · 13/01/2019 23:10

Another mooncup user here too, it’s the future!! Grin

Hobbes39 · 13/01/2019 23:22

Hi all - I was on this board a few months back - hope you don't mind me dipping back in. Last time I wa on here I had just had our 3rd round of IVF to ttc #2 which ended in our 3rd miscarriage. I'm 42 in March and 'unexplained' - had recurrent miscarriage tests and all came back clear. Our IVF consultant actually said he thinks I could be 'super fertile' by which he means my body will let any old shit implant... but then it goes wrong as embryos aren't good quality.
So we are in middle of our last IVF - we were going to stop at 3 but we got so close that we need this last round, but I feel with DS being 5 and 42 looming that we need to move on soon. We had less eggs this time than last (just 5), but 4 fertilised and 3 looked good - one of which the embryologist described as top quality' which we haven't had before. So I had that one and one o the others put back on Saturday so I'm in my TWW now and think I'm going to need a half hold...
I have skimmed though some of the posts above - so good to see your news @CritterTamer and other BFPs.
@mellongoose - I'm so so sorry for your loss - i felt utterly devastated reading your post so cant even begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Look after yourself x life is so cruel at times.
Good luck to everyone x

Cleozeta · 13/01/2019 23:45

Good luck hobbes!
Sorry to all those with af. I'll be joining you in a few days.

Chatbash72 · 14/01/2019 07:06

@SparrowSG and @littlemimosa my best friend uses them.. it's not messy trying to get them in and out is it ?

littlemimosa · 14/01/2019 09:34

Hi Hobbes, I remember you. Good luck with this IVF, keep positive. Have you read the book It starts with the egg? We've all been reading it it as it main focus is egg quality (with some focus on miscarriage and PCOS)

Chat - the mooncup takes 2-3 months of getting used to, it's a bit 'messy' at first as it takes some skill and practice to get good at removing it efficiently! Once you get the knack, you'll never look back. My only regret is I didn't get one sooner than age 40. I could've saved years of the cost and waste of tampons/pads. I actually love it lol.

SparrowSG · 14/01/2019 10:52

chatbash same as Littlemimosa, I love my mooncup Smile and wish I'd got one earlier. I never really liked the idea of tampons so used pads, but they're not great either. I will however, probably try a different type/shape when my periods return as my cervix can be quite low at times and the mooncup is quite long. There are so many different shapes and sizes now, I was quite surprised. You can find loads of good info at www.putacupinit.com
It does take a while to get used to it but once you're comfortable it becomes just as routine as using pads/tampons. I tend to change mine at home as it is helpful to have a sink to rinse it off in. But if you had to change it out and about you could use tissue to wipe off and clean hands. Also, even though my periods are quite heavy the first couple of days, the mooncup still wasn't full after 8/10 hours!!

olivia12 · 14/01/2019 12:26

Hello everyone, hope you are all having a good Monday.
I am in the 2WW! I think I ovulated around Friday-Saturday. We have dtd last Saturday twice and this Friday once. Fingers crossed!!!!
I have had some twinges in my left ovary on Saturday and today on my right. Is this a good sign?

Has everyone completely given up on alcohol? I have cut down a lot, switched to non alcoholic beers sometimes during the week and a couple of drinks on Fridays and Saturdays. Is this ok? Tbh, I have gone off alcohol in the past month, given that we have started trying properly, but I don't think I want to cut it completely until I am pregnant.
I don't smoke or drink tea/coffee, and I am flossing every night [big grin]

Have a lovely day and baby dust for everyone xxxx

onemorego2019 · 14/01/2019 12:28

4 days until ovia says I should test. And I gave in...throwing money on frer and it was negative. Not 100% sure on my cycle length so just plugged 28 days into ovia.

Rose68 · 14/01/2019 13:02

Oh dear I don’t floss very often! Right.... must start flossing! Although flossing means the dance in my house (if you can call it a dance).

I have decided to use tampons for the first 24 hours and then switch to pads. I can’t do pads at the beginning of AF.

How many dpo are you @onemorego2019?

@olivia12 my acupuncturist said conception rates are higher for women who have the occasional drink compared to those who cut it out completely. If you are still getting ov pains I would dtd again, just in case. x

onemorego2019 · 14/01/2019 13:59

@Rose68 10dpo according to ovia. Not 100% sure really x

olivia12 · 14/01/2019 14:14

Thank you @Rose68! Your acupuncturist sounds lovely Wink

I'll try to get dp in the mood tonight, but he is home sick, so I doubt itHmm!!

Rose68 · 14/01/2019 14:57

Good luck @Hobbes39 It does sound promising, FX for you.

Yes my acupuncturist is lovely, he always makes me giggle, which doesn’t go too well if he’s trying to put needles in.

Presh12345 · 14/01/2019 15:58

Had a good appt yesterday with my lovely doc. He told me I had a beautiful uterus!! What a compliment! My right ovary which hasn't been doing much the past 2 IUI cycles has suddenly woken up and I have 8 follicles on the right one and 3 on the left one. Now on Gonal F for 5 days and go back for another ultrasound on Saturday to see how they have grown. Fingers crossed, third time lucky!!
Hope everyone well!!xx

Cleozeta · 14/01/2019 16:32

Ballbags. AF here 2 days early again Sad
Really odd as my rhr on ava always drops for 5 days before AF reliably every cycle. Even the last 2 that have come early the rhr started dropping 5 days before so I knew. This time rhr has only been dropping for 3 days so thought I had 2 days left which would put me back on my old 11 day lp. But no, 9 days again. Bugger.
So this means a few bad things.

  1. I can't rely on my ava data being as solid as I thought.
  2. Maybe it wasn't the dhea shortening my lp and my body is actually screwed.
  3. All the things I tried this cycle, vitex, B6, progesterone cream, vit C etc did nothing for my lp and was pointless.
  4. That's 3 months in a row of very short lp. That's bad as that now resembles a pattern.
  5. Hycosy next cycle will now be on cd18.
But to be honest I don't see the point. This isn't going to happen. My cycles are screwed. I'm giving up. Good luck all of you on your journey's. I hope all your dreams come true.
Rose68 · 14/01/2019 16:40

No Cleo, don’t give up yet, go to your appointments next month and see what they say. I’m sure the clinic would bring the hycosy forward a week or so if you ask them to? Is that a scan? I have to dash now, but I’m sending you much love Flowers

PetraRabbit · 14/01/2019 17:09

Cleo....don't go and definitely don't give up. You know you can get pregnant. I think you are- understandably- trying too much to analyse the numbers, when maybe a day or two recorded incorrectly here or there might mean you have more chance than you think. That whole "fertility is not an exact science" thing....I feel despondent too, I'm also on AF at the moment. Go to your appointments. But get angry and sad now if you need to. Stay!

hmmm123 · 14/01/2019 17:12

Cleo don't give up yet. If you've only been trying those things for one cycle it might take a while to affect the LP.. I don't think it's instant isn't it like other things when it takes a while to build up .. I would wait another three months to see whether it's had any affect

PetraRabbit · 14/01/2019 17:12

Presh- hoping for you. I heard the right ovary is weak in older women, so if you can get it producing then that's great.

KeepingTheFaith9 · 14/01/2019 17:58

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to drop in and report the safe arrival of my son, born on 21/12 @ 33 weeks. We were in NICU for 3 weeks but are now home. He is doing great. I’ll be 45 in Aug and was almost 44 when I conceived. It does happen and I feel very blessed - just coming back to spread some FAITH 🌈🙏🏻😊
In NICU there were daily challenges for parents of all ages, for many different reasons and I felt lucky to have been there for such a short stay..
I will keep checking on this thread found it really helpful & inspirational. I also value the solidarity here among us women - giving hope and love, in spite of the fact we will never meet. @Mellon I have sobbed reading your post and wish you healing, love and peace. And for all of us here both fighting and fearing our fertility I wish you hope, and joy and your heart’s desire. 🙏🏻🌈⭐️ Xxx

Hobbes39 · 14/01/2019 18:28

@Cleozeta - please don't give up due to data from Ava...
As others have said the changing supplements will prob take longer than a month and DHEA is widely reported to sometimes disrupting things, so it could still be that working its way out too.
I have an Ava and to be honest I've stopped wearing it at the moment. It caused me more stress than it was worth as I was analysing everything. My RHR is supposedly as low as 38 sometimes according to it - which freaked me out for a while! I think it can be useful but I am suspicious of the rhr readings...! X

LynnC77 · 14/01/2019 19:03

Hi everyone I'm 41 and TTC, I already have children between the ages of 9 & 20 yrs.
My partner doesn't have any children and we are desperate to have one together.
Had a miscarriage last April at 6 weeks and we were devastated Sad
I've been using that Ovia app and my cycles are every 26-28 days so I'm assuming I'm still ovulating, AF showed up today so feeling quite down and frustrated that it's not happened considering we have sex every day ! Just hope I'm not past it yet xx

BooseysMom · 14/01/2019 19:57

@Hobbes39 ..wishing you luck with your ivf journey xx

Oh Cleo.. so sorry to hear about AF. I know I feel the same but everyone persuaded me to stay so I just think even if it never happens I'll stay. I think it will happen for you, I really do. Please stay! xx

@KeepingTheFaith9.. Congratulations Faith! Such fantastic news! I can't believe how fast that time has gone. Your name is so appropriate..I remember you telling everyone to keep the faith! Grin xx Flowers

Lostlily · 14/01/2019 20:06

Wow first time seeing this thread. I'm so inspired by you all. I've been in a new relationship for a year.
I am 44 this weekend and have wanted a second child for years but not been a position.
Now I'm thinking its too late? I would so love a baby with my current partner though 😍
Good luck to you all 🙏
