@karryk I stopped using nail varnish a year ago,a couple of weeks ago I bought some from Holland & Barrett it's not got most of the nasty chemicals in.. think is vegan too ?

@hmmm123 you sound exactly like me! It took me a long time to realise I might want to do this, and I still regularly think I wouldn’t cope, I struggle with my 2 boys as it is. However, other times I think I would cope just fine and there is nothing I want more. As time passes and it seems increasingly likely that it’s not possible, I want it more and more. I guess you always want what you can’t have! xxx

Momosa - yes I read it. Interesting stuff, although I find some of the changes unsustainable. I don't use as much plastic as I used to, bit its impossible to get rid of it all with young children. The book is also where I was swayed to try DHEA. That clearly didn't work for me. I tend not to use nailvarnish or chemical beauty products anyway. I don't have time for that haha. So yeah I found some of it interesting and some of it a bit scaremongering. And some of it not relevant. What have you taken on?

Lol I'm starting to feel guilty. I'm getting my nails done for my holiday because I don't like them without varnish when I wear sandals and because I'll be at a place where they have excellent coffee and wine I'm planning on an occasional drink too. Being caffeine and alcohol for ages clearly didn't work for me so maybe this will, I need to relax, enjoy and for a few weeks not feel like my life is on hold.

I think that is right @rose68 you always want something more if it's unobtainable or seems to be. I now think of all the years I wasted going back and forth on the decision and want to kick myself! !

Hopefully it will still happen for us..

Positive thinking! Just waiting for AF to come next week so we can try again as no chance of bfp this month as dh was away. I think next month I might try and arrange a day off work for both of us if possible around predicted ov day to guarantee he will be here! It's difficult when it comes as different times every month though!

Also this month ovulation was really painful and I could feel it which has never happened before .. I think it's definitely my body trying to remind me that this is last chance saloon ...

@Letsdothis43 good luck glad to hear your feeling ok and no nasty side effects of stims! I’m already having the same thoughts regarding the the scans. It’s such an emotional rollercoaster I got myself really down yesterday and I haven’t even started yet so god knows how I’m going to be when I’m on the stims and waiting for scans!

I’m with you on the @CritterTamer i too have learnt more from her than the professionals ! If it wasn’t for you ladies I would have given up!

I am trying to stay positive, starting yoga on Monday really not my thing but going to try anything to keep my anxiety down. I’m feeling exhausted at the moment have literally just woken up! After what my sister said and reading about my AMH that’s says menopause in 5 years I’m parionoid I’ve left it all too late and by the time I get to clinic they are going to tell me I’m in pre menopause 😩

What is ubiquinol should I be on it?

Rose68 · 12/01/2019 11:51

@Realitysucks most of us are on ubiquinol, it really helps with egg quality I believe. There is definitely no harm in taking it, but it is expensive. I get it from amazon x

@rose68 how much do you take ? Can you send me a screen shot of the one you get and I’ll order some. Is it safe to get online? I don’t want to mess anything up for clinic next month. Are you supposed to take it a long time before so you think it won’t make much difference to eggs one month before EC?

Report
Realitysucks · 12/01/2019 12:05

At the moment I’m just on pregnacare and vit d spray 75ug. I’ve toyed with DHEA but I’m worried about side effects so I’ve decided to wait for first cycle of ivf and if it doesn’t work then we have to wait three months for next, so going to speak to clinic about it and take for three months before next ivf.

This is the one I got... but some of the ladies on here know much more about ubiquinol than I do. Also, I have been taking 3 of these a day (so 300mg a day), you can buy it in 300mg tablets, but I had ordered these before I realised I should be taking 300mgs.

Ideally it should be taken for 3 months, but (I believe) taking it for a short time is better than nothing, as it will still have some effect. xxx

Also can I ask you all a question 😬 sorry for all the posts. Everyone agrees this ttc can be all consuming. I think I’m feeling so down because it is affecting me and DH. It’s all so clinical and whilst he is being great apart from his not thinking sometimes, it feel like the dtd is now all about getting pregnant and we seem to have lost the fun side. I suppose to some degree it happens to all of us. But DH has always struggled with the on demand nature of it. Now we are in the no we can’t get pregnant stage before IVF ive lost my mojo and feel like what’s the point in dtd. It’s probably my mindset rather than his. I think we just need to reconnect a bit but just not sure how as I don’t want to make his anxiety about it all any worse!

About Ubiquinol, the one posted is the same one I use. They do it in 100mg, 200mg and 300mg. I read all the reviews and it's the best one balancing out positive reviews with acceptable price! I was taking 300mg for months but recently rationed a bit to 2x 100mg a day. Need to step it back up!

Personally I ditched ubiquinol, I was on it for probably about a year and it didn't do anything for me. A nutritionist at my ivf clinic told me certain brands of CoQ10 were just as good so I switched-much cheaper! Of course it might have been just me and it will work for everyone else I don't know but I figured DHEA coupled with CoQ10 will do for now.

Since my last post was 3 pages ago I'm amazed how much has happened! I'll do my best to remember everyone but apologies if i miss anyone out!

@Chatbash72..Thank you for the encouraging msg Smile

@Dickybow321 ..congratulations! Flowers

@Whatcanihave.. welcome and sorry about your Dad x

@Realitysucks .. sorry your sister is not helpful. Mine is the same so know how you feel on that one! Also sorry to hear you're having a down day.. DHs drive you mental and somehow always manage to say the wrong things!

@hmmm123.. I feel exactly the same but have my suspicions it's too late ..the deed is done!! Whether I keep hold of it at my old age is another matter..and it's too early to test! I'm in the 2ww hell!!

Hope everyone is ok x

Thanks Booseys.
This ttc lark is sooo stressful, I remember now why I stepped away from this thread and tried to stop thinking about it!

I had a MC at 8 weeks when I was in my early 30s so I keep thinking about this and I just can't relax. I have peed on so many sticks over the last few days, it's like an addiction and I hate it. I keep checking to see if the line is getting darker.

@Dickybow123 being pregnant is far more stressful than ttc, I got pregnant in October and I totally fell apart. Plus time went so slowly it was ridiculous. xxx

This thread moves too fast for me these days lol.
So apologies if I don’t respond to everyone but here’s some of my thoughts on the things you’ve all been chatting about, Ubiquinol, I take Solgar 200mg. I’ve absolutely no idea if it’s done anything for my eggs, I’m not pregnant yet but I feel I can’t give it up as it has no side effects except increased energy.
Dhea- I’ve only been on it a few weeks at 3x10mg per day. So far so good. But this week I’ve started to notice a few tiny zits appearing (very slightly nothing major) and I just realised my bras are too small!! Now this one I’m happy about and can’t put it down to anything else.

Cleo - I’m only three chapters into the book and a lot of it I do already. I use a lot of glass, ceramic and stainless steel in the kitchen but I’m going to start taking food out of plastic as soon as I get it home. I don’t use nail varnish, hairspray or perfume anyway but am definitely going to improve my dental routine! I obviously clean my teeth well but some days I skip flossing. So am going to improve there. It’s so difficult to avoid all chemicals and plastics these days but I do give it a good go. I use a lot of natural products and organic stuff already but there’s always stuff lurking.

Orchid - good to see you. A holiday sounds great and I think you shouldn’t worry about a few drinks and a couple of coffees. Relaxation is just as important as trying to be healthy. Are you going somewhere nice?

Dickiebow.. I do remember you as you had a memorable name. It was a long way back you were last here wasn't it? How long were you ttc? I"ve given up sticks! When I had DS I didn't even know I was preg for 12 wks as I was still having AF but later and lighter so put it down to what I presumed was peri-menopause. So ttc no.2 is a very different experience and after 3 yrs I'm about ready to throw the towel in. But this cycle I'm getting some v strange symptoms and we dtd about x3 I think, so who knows? Only at 46 ..47 next month..I'm super terrified!! Shock

Booseys we decided to start trying about 9 months ago. This is the first BFP in that time. How old were you when you had DS?

Reality - it’s such a difficult thing. I’ve been there. I don’t have any answers for you as such but I do know that I’ve been ttc so long now that we’ve almost gone full circle on sex in that we don’t really have baby making sex as such anymore. We just have it for the fun of it and don’t use contraception. Don’t get me wrong, some months I’ll still say ‘I’m ovulating let’s get to it’ but generally I just try to get us in the mood without mentioning it. It takes some effort some days but most of the time he doesn’t need much persuading (not do I!) In a weird way it’s actully kept our sex life great because I/we make more of an effort even if I’m/we’re tired. I don’t know if this is in any way helpful but it’s my experience for ttc #3. I guess if we were ttc #1 I might feel differently, dunno. I think the key is trying to not overly mention ovulation etc. No-one likes to feel they’re needed in bed, only wanted. Hope this helps.

Dickybow..9 months and a BFP!! Way to go!! I had DS at 40, just 3 months off 41, so knew we'd left it too late. Although we've been together 13 years it was never the right circumstances to try so DS is a precious miracle

@Realitysucks I'm on CoQc10 I take 120x twice a day.. we went through that phase when hubby wanted to dtd when he wanted, which wasn't always when I was ovulating.. but my friends has conceived in her early cycle around day 5, so I felt that any sex was a good thing and we are just dtd throughout the month when the urge takes us and has made us more spontaneous...bit like you @littlemimosa it's definitely more fun
ooh goodness @Orchid222 go for it with the nails.. I missed having nail varnish but love a cleaner version.. but relaxing holiday sounds perfection..
this thread is going so quickly.. lots of love ladies xxx
