So sorry sparrow.... fingers crossed you u....
I have experience of hearing the words Patau syndrome, I know how awful it is hearing those words..... :(

Cleozeta · 02/02/2019 00:32

Oh no sparrow Sad hope all turns out ok in the end, don't lose hope

BooseysMom · 02/02/2019 07:23

@cleozeta.. I'm so sorry to hear about your experience at your appointment. I agree with others ask for a refund. Tbh they are not allowed to judge on age.. you are paying to see them so they should take you seriously .

@marty77.. I felt nauseous every morning whilst preg without realising! A good sign. Fingers and everything crossed for you x

Taxgirl1 @hmmm123.. I just wanted to say i totally know how you feel about it all. I've lost track of how long we've been ttc and I've got a birthday coming up I don't feel like celebrating tbh Sad. I know this is it for me. I looked in the mirror this morning and saw my mother looking back at me, jowls and all ...aagghh!!! Shock

BooseysMom · 02/02/2019 07:25

Sorry i meant to type @taxgirl1 !

Chatbash72 · 02/02/2019 11:11

Ooh @SparrowSG I'm not sure what to say.. nothing will ease the uncertainty but sending lots of love and hugs.. and I hope the blood test provides you with more clearer information. 💕💕
Just out of curiosity has anyone on here had major bloating and trapped wind as a early preg symptom? Apparently it's a thing.. ( a preg symptom.. not one I have ever experienced until at the end when baby is taking up all the room) but I'm Day 29 in cycle and for the last 5 days on and off have been suffering.. 2 nights sat on sofa with hot water bottles downing peppermint tea.. 😳

karryk · 02/02/2019 14:20

Sending lots of love sparrow ❤️❤️

@ChatBash72 bloating was a big sign for me in the first three pregnancies - that and heartburn!

Chatbash72 · 02/02/2019 14:45

@karryk this is new to me, my best friend ( mum of 8, last 2 popped out in her 40's) had bloating.. well I'm sporting a 6/7 month style belly.. 🤦‍♀️

TigerJoy · 02/02/2019 15:04

Hi, I'm 40 and just TTC for the first time with my partner...very new to all this but wanted to say hi!

coppercolouredtop · 02/02/2019 15:25

Nipped to say I still occasionally lurk...(and a sneaky placemark) I'm 47 next month so I think I've truly missed the boat (failed pg few years ago and nothing since)

I've been on the over 40 ttc threads in various guises.

Started a last ditch attempt in taking supplements.

Anyway cd 1 today Sad
Cycle regular just nothing doing .

Feeling despondent and flat and that it's just too late for me.

coppercolouredtop · 02/02/2019 15:28

Oh sparrow this happened to me when I was 44. Nipt came back with bad news .

I got a cvs at 12 weeks to confirm- quicker than amnio and less risk

💐 for you xxx

coppercolouredtop · 02/02/2019 15:30

Sparrow. - pm me if there is anything I can help with
💐

Cleozeta · 02/02/2019 16:19

Welcome tiger and copper

Fingers crossed for you chat!

As for me, am still fuming about my crap consultation, but wondering what to do now. I'd really like to try IUI (mainly for the medicated & monitored side of things) but can I do that at the same clinic if the dr said I didn't need it? Or can I ask to have it done under a different dr? (No idea how these things work)
I looked into the other clinic in my area but it does seem very focused on younger people and NHS referrals so not sure it would be suitable for me.
I received notification on my hycosy refund today so that's something.

Hobbes39 · 02/02/2019 16:28

Just catching up...
@SparrowSG - I'm so sorry - just heartbreaking - I hope that they've got it wrong, it's just so unfair... I don't know what to say, but thinking of you x
@Cleozeta - if it's a private clinic and you are paying for it, they should pretty much do what you ask, as long as it's not harmful to you - and I don't think IUI would be. I don't fully know process for IUI - is it just where they monitor you with scans to ensure they know exactly when ovulation is and then get your partners sperm in there, or is there more to it? X

Cleozeta · 02/02/2019 16:57

Hobbes - I believe it's medicated with ovulation induction drugs to start with, and then monitored to see how folicles are progressing, then ovulation is triggered, and insemination timed, then you get progesterone support in the LP.
I think this would up my chances - mainly by the progesterone support, but also the induction would give me stronger ovulation with maybe more than one egg release, plus the timed insemination would help, as DH has mild ED meaning it's not always possible to dtd at the right time and if we start dtd too early in the cycle he may have run out of steam by the time O day hits!

Floofsquidge · 02/02/2019 17:48

Don't give up hope Sparrow, my sister was 41 with v high risk of Downs and one of the trisomies at 12 week scan from both NT and the bloods, had the amnio and it came back completely negative for all three. Thanks

Chatbash yes. I had horrendous bloating from day 1 until about 11 weeks and my belly looked the same size I am now!

Karigan195 · 02/02/2019 18:00

Sparrow is that nhs harmony or private NIPT?

Apparently the nhs one is notoriously worrying but the NIPT is more up to date and accurate

Karigan195 · 02/02/2019 18:01

I have my NIPT in two days. Terrified personally.

I hope the more in depth tests come back with better results

Chatbash72 · 02/02/2019 18:58

@Floofsquidge not convinced at the mo.. you are in roller coaster going up the hill and I'm sure will come crashing down in a few days x

coppercolouredtop · 02/02/2019 19:02

Paid privately for my nipt- sadly cvs confirmed the diagnosis for me and resulted in tfmr at 14 weeks.

The nipt was done at 10 weeks , I just knew because of how long the results took to come back something was up.

They do have a very high accuracy % but I opted for cvs as that is a diagnostic rather than screening test.

Cvs can be done sooner than amnio and is completely accurate - my results were back within 48 hours.

It is devastating to get that news and I am always at the end of a dm.

The one thing I'd say is phone ARC (antenatal results and choices). They were fantastic and helped me make a decision. They support either way. - if you choose to terminate or continue with pg.

good luck sparrow x

Thanks
anaconda76 · 02/02/2019 19:26

@Sparrow - so sorry to hear that. Sending you hugs and good luck.
Welcome @TigerJoy and @copper!

Has anyone had any issues taking Ubiquinol? My tummy is not happy. It could be the viral lurgy I caught from DD#3 or it could be just that the pills are the size of tubby hamsters.

BooseysMom · 02/02/2019 19:57

@SparrowSG.. i am sorry I have just realised I missed your msg when I posted last. Wishing you very best of luck x

@TigerJoy.. Hi and welcome to the group .. sending baby dust your way! x

@coppercolouredtop.. welcome! I'm also 47 next month so am totally with you on the feeling flat and despondent thing. Are you ttc no.1? I'm ttc no.2 after having DS at 40. Tbh i think that was my day in the sun ..well they say life begins at 40! Best of luck & baby dust x

littlemimosa · 02/02/2019 21:37

Sparrow - I’m so sorry to hear your news. We are all here for you and you’ve had some good advice from others who’ve been in your situation. Thinking of you.

Welcome newbies. Great to have new people. And Booseys will be very happy to have another person her age:)

AFM CD 9 and feeling rough after a long draining period. It only just stopped today really. So so fed up of frustrating cycles/hormones. I’m struggling to accept that I’m probably peri menopausal:( Clinging onto hope by a thread now but trying to tell myself I’m still ovulating (albeit a bit irregular) and DH still has good sperm so in theory egg+sperm could = baby?!

Cleo - I think your plan sounds good. Is there another clinic you could go to? You’d think they want your money whatever your age! Although I know they like younger women for their statistics.... glad you got your refund.

littlemimosa · 02/02/2019 21:40

Booseys - I bet it was a man that coined the phrase ‘life begins at 40’!!! Not true for me with my fluctuating hormones, ugh.

coppercolouredtop · 02/02/2019 23:51

Hi booseys

I have posted her under other names but...

I am lucky in that I had two dc when I was in my 20s . They've flown the nest!

I'm in a new relationship and my dp of 4 years has no kids so that's the dream.
Got pg at 44 but sadly ended in tfmr.

However just found out I had some other issues - my periods stopped but found I was severely anaemic. Now taking all the right stuff and vitamins so fingers crossed - cycle kicked in gain today at spot on 28 days, so who knows. Had a scan of ovaries and all seems normal.

Doctors don't t take me seriously when I say I'm ttc so doubt I'd get any extra tests - I'm now trying very much to adopt an "if it happens it happens and would be a miracle" approach ! I've got no menopausal symptoms yet and I was using clear blue opk and still getting static smileys up till the periods stopped just last couple of months . Putting that down to lack of iron and like I say , cycle spot on 28 days this month so might dig the opk out again - just was trying not to stress so had binned them for time being thinking I'd have a go without the doing it to order pressure. Ah well ....
Pretty sure it's now way to late and think the tfmr knackered my body up a bit ( lack of iron probably cos of the horrendous periods I've had ever since Sad)
If it happened I would feel like the luckiest woman ever now
If it doesnt I will enjoy my lie ins and holidays and me time.

Baby dust to all Thanks good luck ! X

coppercolouredtop · 03/02/2019 03:42

Thinking about it I've e had terrible periods since my tfmr and a few times I've had very faint bfp but then started bleeding - I'm wondering whether to go and ask for a d&c ....I think that I do conceive but I think something happened in there that makes it impossible to implant....just been reading about the scratch which is very similar to d&c and how it's doubled birth rates in some studies....🤔
D&c used to be done as routine after miscarriage. Wonder if it's worth a try .
