Thanks Reality. Oh i know, totally!! ..it will never be over until AF stops coming...which means next time I moan and wail in despair about giving up, you have to just ignore me.. or just pat me better and send me on my way!! Grin . I just love this group as someone else said previously cos we are all there for each other whenever anyone needs a shoulder to cry on. I don't get that from DH as much as I do here so thank you xx

hmmm123 · 24/01/2019 19:39

I'm the same @Realitysucks and @BooseysMom

I am driving myself nuts with my constantly changing emotions .. all for it during ovulation and then thinking it's a terrible idea for most of the month! Pesky hormones! Mother Nature has a lot to answer for

Good luck to everyone still pregnant and hugs to those who are trying or going through worrying times

PetraRabbit · 24/01/2019 22:56

Booseys- completely understandable. There's no harm in trying without actually officially trying!!! And glad little Boosey is ok. Nothing like a cuddle with mummy!

By the way...I'm a celeb gossip fan. I won't pretend I had a clue who this woman is (apparently a desperate Housewife/ex-Miss America) but pregnant at 47 and baby born at 48. Yes 48! I delved further and like most celebs she doesn't quite explain the whole story but my best guess is she either used her own frozen egg extracted in her early 40s for IVF, or it was a fresh IVF cycle. Still.....all achieved in her 40s !!

PetraRabbit · 24/01/2019 22:59

Sorry forgot to post link....her name is Kenya Moore. She's in the Daily Mail today.

Cleozeta · 25/01/2019 08:12

And she's talking about wanting another!

BooseysMom · 25/01/2019 10:12

Morning ladies, how are you all? Well we've had a traumatic night and ended up being sent to the hosp out of hours gp! You say certain things on 111 and it triggers it! I answered their questions and the fact DS had a headache and chest pain made them send us to out of hours. Also his temp went up to 39 but dropped back when we were in there and I felt like a time waster as he seemed like there was nothing wrong with him except a cold and cough! Typical! Then the doc said something strange..that the temp doesn't matter in kids ..it's whether they are alert and responding. The good thing is we were in and out of there whereas there were loads in A&E with a waiting time of 3.45 hrs... Can you believe it?! I thought we'd have to wait and was amazed when they sent us next door to an empty waiting room! So we were all done in an hour and the GP said it was just a vural infection. He didn't say it was flu. DS's temp spiked at 39.8 in the early hours and he was red and burning up so I don't get how that doc could have said temp doesn't matter!! I panicked again when I saw a red rash on him but DH said it was from the heat. Omg what a night!

Kenya Moore ..preg at 47?! That's my age! I just wonder whether it was natural. It does happen on occasion. We'll prob never know. Fantastic news tho!
Hope everyone ok today xx

Hi girls
I’m new to Mumsnet, 41 (42 in 2 months!) no kids and wanting to try for my first with my hb we met two years ago.

Very new to all this, never thought I’d be trying for a baby this late but my hb really wants kids and now so do I lol.

Been trying for 4 months no luck so far. Any tips would be great. I’m pretty healthy, regular periods though I do suffer a lot with anxiety, I was taking anti depressants but have tapered off, now just on a tiny dose.

Rose68 · 25/01/2019 16:50

Welcome @Kath91 are you taking anything to improve egg quality? Most of us on here are taking ubiquinol and vitamin D spray and some of us are taking dhea. I am sorry to hear you are on antidepressants, have you considered an alternative therapy? I am having acupuncture for fertility, but I have found it has really helped with stress and that feeling of not being able to cope.

Chatbash72 · 25/01/2019 16:50

@BooseysMom our local hospital is rather fab with kiddies, last year Boxing Day night!! Small one fell out of bed and then vomited 3 times.. 111 straight in.. had to have paracetamol suppository which he was not impressed about.. but was just a sickness bug..
glad your little one is now slowly getting there.. who says sleepless nights are just for newborns!!
Welcome @Kath91 Just you wait the advice will come rolling in..
my advice is try to keep dtd throughout the month, as soon as af is over.. Mother Nature likes to ping out the odd early egg.. and then it also feels less like a baby making exercise just when you are ovulating, which can reduce the stress levels.. for both of you..
ubiquinol or CoEnzyme 10, vitamin d spray and a good Pre natal vitamin..
Fertility yoga fab, yoga yin on YouTube is good.. and Emma cannon on Instagram is useful too.. she gets back quickly with questions (@emmalcannon)
Xxx

mellongoose · 25/01/2019 19:22

Hi ladies. Welcome @Kath91

@BooseysMom I'm glad you're feeling better and that miniBoosey is ok. Scary stuff when their temp spikes like that.

I went to the GP yesterday. Nobody has offered me a check up to make sure everything has gone back to normal. The hospital advised me to ask the GP for more time off work. Out of all the HCPs I've seen throughout this ordeal both DH and I have seen really uncaring GPs. Everyone else has been brilliant and gone the extra mile.

Anyway I tentatively asked her about the chances of Spina Bifida happening again, should we wish to try in the future. She basically went through all the scary chromosomal issues that can happen in an over 40 pregnancy. I know about this already. I'm not stupid. Anyway she didn't have anything to add regarding Spina Bifida. I asked for the higher dose of folic acid since she didn't offer it. I was prescribed it but I came away feeling like I was being daft for wanting to try again.

I don't want to start straight away but they recommend taking the folic acid 3 months in advance. I felt as though she thought o was too old. Full stop. I was cross and upset because plenty of 20 somethings are type 2 diabetic and/or abuse their bodies and the NHS does everything it can to support them if they fall pregnant. I did everything right and this wasn't my fault. If I want to try again at some point why can't they support me?!

Rant over 😔

Chatbash72 · 25/01/2019 20:26

Ooh @mellongoose as a HCP I get very sad at all your stories about very crap care, there is just no need to not be professional and show care and compassion especially when you are forking out so much money..
I know a couple in their very early 20's who have 2 little ones with health issues.. age is not a factor but it's all too easy to blame the "older " parent.. and an old family friend had a daughter with learning issues when they were in their early 30's and had a daughter in their mid 40's and all was well.. and this was well over 20 years ago.. we have loads over very very overweight young mums at the school gates.. and yup I am guessing they have oodles of support from the nhs.. rant away lovely xx

mondaycando1 · 25/01/2019 20:36

I see there's been ups and downs among you all. Am still here plodding on - 45 and beginning to accept dc3 isn't going to happen after ttc since the coil was taken out in July. Although we've not done much the last couple of months as I was proper hospitalised ill for a bit. Not quite given up hope yet as still having lots of good ov peaks etc. Mind you I did start periods age 10 so have probably run out of good eggs now (dc1 & 2 born when I was 36 and just shy of 37).

mondaycando1 · 25/01/2019 20:37

36 and just shy of 38, not 36 and just shy of 37 as that's 2 in a year and that's nuts Shock

SparrowSG · 25/01/2019 21:37

Interesting US article on having children over 40

www.vogue.com/projects/13541581/american-women-pregnancy-40s-portfolio-fertility-bella-newman

PetraRabbit · 25/01/2019 23:23

Sorry Mellon....that's so unhelpful. After all, though, she's just a member of the public as well as a GP and brings her own personal life experiences to the job. Maybe she is like all those Munsnetters say oh no I wouldn't consider another child once I'm over 34.Hmm Ignore her! Sorry you didn't feel supported.

PetraRabbit · 25/01/2019 23:24

Sparrow thanks for posting!

PetraRabbit · 25/01/2019 23:25

Booseys.....I hope you're in bed now having a very nice early night.

LynnC77 · 26/01/2019 01:48

I've deleted the Ovia app , relying too much on it . Apparently I'm peak and coz Arsenal lost to Man U he's in a mood peak effing day!!! Wanker ........

Angelbabyollie · 26/01/2019 10:18

Well cd34 today and nothing no signs of anything- I ask myself is this it? No more af? Have had this week twinges kinda ovaries not painful just annoying am starting to think it's body shutting down especially after the blood test - still waiting to see dr on Wednesday. Hope everyone ok and baby dust xxx

Rose68 · 26/01/2019 12:12

@Andelbabyollie if Cleo was right and your blood tests were done just before ovulation, it makes sense that you haven’t got AF yet x

Rose68 · 26/01/2019 14:30

Sorry, just seen my typo ☺️

anaconda76 · 26/01/2019 15:30

I haven't been on here for a few days because my 3 year old has been poorly. Similar story to yours BooseysMom. She really scared me with high temperatures, horrible cough and cold, etc but then when we got to the emergency apt she actually skipped into the nurse's office, so typical of my children. A miraculous recovery as soon as we get near a HCP but big relief.

BooseysMom - I hope little Boosey is much better.
Mellongoose - It takes quite a while for things to get back to normal and a lot of GPs are far from experts when it comes to ttc/pregnancy. My midwife often used to roll her eyes at things the GP had told me.
Kath91 - welcome!
Sparrow - thanks for sharing the interesting link! It gives us hope.
OneMore - I hope you're OK.
Reality - So sorry to hear about your clinic experience but it sounds like it will be better at your next apt.

For the last few months I've been getting brown spotting 2 - 3 days before AF and I've just read that it could mean I'm peri-menopausal. I really wish I hadn't bothered googling it.

Letsdothis43 · 26/01/2019 16:23

Hello all,

Its been a while and just catching up with everyones news, @Booseysmom glad you are doing okay and Little One is doing better, sounds like a mad few days, please be looking after you too!

@Cleozeta glad you are here and hope youre doing okay too
@Crittertammer Brilliant picture and brilliant news about the twins, glad all way okay at the scan!

@Chatbash72 hope your doing okay?
@orchid223 are you doing Okay?
@Realitysucks, glad to hear the nurse answered your questions, someone once said to me that its a service we are paying for which is why we can ask any question we like as many times as we like, don't let them give you non answers I did the same for too long and wasted time!

@ everyone else hope everyone is doing as well as can be!

AFM back from the Czech Rep. I had my second CD10 ultrasound there and I only had two follicles from the 6 I originally had on CD7, the next day I was in for lots of blood tests and an ECG, they couldn't find veins so I was punctured about a dozen times!

My EC was scheduled for a few days later, on the day I was so scared and nervous, they managed to get 1 mature egg, I was utterly gutted, a few people from the same clinic I was with had all been on a facebook group I am on saying they had 10, 12 eggs, and only a few survived after a few days, so with my 1 egg I held no hope of it making it to day 1 or 2 or 3, the clinic have an online system to check development of eggs, so on day 3 I checked and my one egg had made it to 9 cells and ET was scheduled, on day 5 by little egg had turned into an early blastocyst and the Dr said I was good for transfer, and by the time they transferred a few hours later he said it had developed further which was a great sign.

We were meant to travelling back home on day of transfer so had to reschedule flight for next day as DH had to be back at work, so on night of transfer we travelled to a few hours to where we were leaving from, stayed over and caught flight back in the morning.

My one egg is inside me for now, and the TWW is now underway! I know that the success rate is low but I am channeling all positivity I can!

x

anaconda76 · 26/01/2019 16:33

Letsdothis43 - It only takes one egg, so fingers crossed this is the one!

Letsdothis43 · 26/01/2019 17:09

@anaconda76 thats what I am hoping, just one !!
