Thank you for setting up a new thread (sorry I just posted on the old one!). Thanks again for the advice @79andnotout @BambiOnIce80. Wishing you all a great 2019 xx

VenusStarr · 31/12/2018 22:43

I'm here! Hope you are all OK! Happy New year. I really truly hope that 2019 is a happy year for us all... ❀️ (fuelled by gin 😊) thank you all for your support xxxx

Kescilly · 31/12/2018 22:48

Just popping on to say Happy New Year to you lovely ladies! I had such complicated feelings about TTC-ing last year and you really helped me through it. Wishing you all good health and happiness in the new year!

CNizzle · 01/01/2019 10:38

Hi all! Ended up going out last night despite not feeling like it. Im glad I did. My pals cheered me up. Feeling a bit rough today though. Heres to a happy 2019 with lots of bfps!

QuantumGirl · 01/01/2019 13:30

Yay! New Thread! Here to a BFP 2019 πŸ₯‚πŸ€°. As a New Year resolution I am considering going back to bootcamp workout. I found one in the city that fits in with my lunch break. I have been putting it off as I'm not sure this type of exercise is too much for when ttc but I now became a chubby size 8 with BMI of 23 and if anything I want to lose weight for the summer. Am I being too paranoid? 😳

BambiOnIce80 · 01/01/2019 14:31

Happy New year all! 🍾πŸ₯‚πŸŽ‡

Glad you had a fab time last night @CNizzle 😎 I'm guilty of forgetting how much I need my IRL friends to maintain my mental health - was definitely reminded how good it feels to forget about TTC (if only for a few hours!πŸ™„) the other night.x

Hope your chat with DP went OK last night @Clare19821?x

How were your dry NYE's @Kescilly and @MrsRRC?! I actually ended up joining you-decided to start dry January a day early... Partly because I wanted to be able to believe my temp rise if it happened today and partly because I checked my diary and realised we've got a gin distillery tour and tasting booked in a couple of weeks time and there's no bloody way I'm abstaining from the tasting!🍸😬

I'm sure in one of our previous threads we had a factoid that a BMI of 23 was optimal for TTC @QuantumGirl, so I think you're in really good shape! That said, I'm guessing you must be a slight build like me to feel chunky at a size 8? If I go above a size 10 I look really chunky and my friends roll their eyes if I say I need to cut back, but I hate not fitting in my clothes and am much happier with a BMI nearer to 21/22. I'd say it can't hurt to do exercise for fitness (also a positive factor for TTC, of course) and hopefully you'll feel less chunky too πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Well. My temp did indeed go up by about 0.4Β°C this morning (and there was no booze the night before πŸ˜„), so I think that suggests I ov'd yesterday? No ov pains though, which I thought I was pretty in tune with previously (now thinking I no nothing about my cycle!!). Going to see if it stays up tomorrow before I start to relax that I may indeed be a normal human female and not extraterrestrial with my rubbish temp chart! πŸ‘½

Hope everyone had a good new year's eve! Or at least a stress-free or stress-reduced one. Thanks @BambiOnIce80, our chat went quite well and I think he is coming round. Probably needs a few more discussions but he definitely understands where I'm coming from and why I'm so anxious and upset. He's just nervous about trying right away, in case we'd then have a baby in 9 months from now which he doesn't feel ready for. I'm grateful that we can talk about this openly though and that he doesn't freak out when it's discussed. And we are on the same page about how much we want kids so I think we're making progress and hopefully it won't be too long before we do start trying! My concern is about life taking over, as we have so many other day to day pressures and stressors that take up time. Therefore, I need to make sure that we do keep discussing this regularly so that we can start TTC soon, rather than letting another year of life suddenly fly by.
And in response to your message on thread 4, don't worry about scaring the crap out of me! It's good to have my anxiety validated to be honest, as there's absolutely no way of knowing whether it could be an easy or incredibly tough road ahead. I think presuming everything will be ok is too risky an approach.
It must be incredibly frustrating for you when it's 'unexplained' too, as then you don't know WTF to do. I'm truly sorry it's been so hard for you and I hope you'll have a lovely long-awaited surprise in 2019 xx

MrsRRC · 01/01/2019 18:41

Afternoon. I hope the goddess of hangovers showed benevolent deference to those on the sauce. @BambiOnIce80 it was about as lively as could be expected. Both of us in bed by 10:30. Asleep before midnight!

DH was out doing a double park run this morning and I resolved to cook something nutritious for us to take to work for lunch this week (Ottolenghi Chickpea and rainbow chard soup) particularly as I seem to be having a bit of a trapped wind issue which requires some decent fibre - probably a post Christmas symptom. Your ET comment made me giggle.

Which gin distillery? ❀️

@cnizzle sometimes all you need is a bit of time with friends to forget about things and let your hair down. Hangover aside, glad you’re feeling more cheerful.

@QuantumGirl it’s definitely about feeling in shape, isn’t it. Last summer, I was in far better shape than I am now and my BMI was higher due to muscle mass, however I am not sure with all of the weights and cardio, and protein shakes, that I would have found it easier to conceive - because I was bloody exhausted all of the time. Ha ha.

BambiOnIce80 · 02/01/2019 09:16

So glad that your chat went well @Clare19821 😊 If your DP isn't ready for the possibility of a baby in 9 months, would he be happier about the idea of one in a year? As @79andnotout said, in that case you'd be able to start TTC in 3 months time πŸ‘ You're quite right about my particular situation - it is incredibly frustrating 😏 I've had a long time to get used to it and adapt my attitude, but the uncertainty of not knowing whether we're likely to have any luck with IVF or not is crap πŸ˜• I'm a planner and just want to know if we're going to have to adapt to having a bambino in our future or whether it's going to be a life of disposable income and self indulgence! Either sounds pretty apealing (more so the self indulgence route, if I'm brutally honest!).

A 10.30pm bedtime sounds blissful @MrsRRC! πŸ˜„ It wasn't an option here because of the sodding fireworks 😏 The distillery we're going to is NB, which is in a very pretty little coastal village which does awesome seafood (which we will be indulging in pre gin tasting πŸ˜‹). We're just going to cheat on that day and then it's back to dry January πŸ‘

CD19 here and my temp was up by another 0.1Β°C this morning so heading in the right direction πŸ˜ŽπŸ€’ Think that must mean I ov'd on CD17 & we DTD CD16, so I'm hoping we're in with some kind of chance this cycle 🀞🏻 Quite a late ov for me though, so expecting a 30 or 31 day cycle instead of thd usual 28/29. I'm hoping the temping will help limit my inner symptom spotting psycho if my temp drops before then... Time will tell! πŸ€ͺ

Thank you @BambiOnIce80 and @MrsRRC you are right, me trying to lose weight is about feeling good with myself but also saving ££ as some of my work trousers no longer fit 😲. I came from a family of petite ladies and even though size 8 and 10 is small we do get chubby too.
@BambiOnIce80 how does the temp rise relate to the opk responses so far? Do you get a positive opk a day before the temp drop? (Did I get this right?) 🀯. I spent December being 'naughty' on the supplements department and didn't take anything. I'll wait for my AF to arrive next week and be a good girl again. πŸ’ŠπŸ’ŠπŸ’Š

Joboanna · 02/01/2019 10:49

Hi all,

Can I join you? I’m 35 and just starting TTC for the first time. It’s pretty daunting!

BambiOnIce80 · 02/01/2019 11:37

I'm sure it can't hurt to have some time off the vits @QuantumGirl (you may be interested to know that amazon prime has a 3 for 2 offer on a lot of them at the moment- I've just stocked up πŸ’Š πŸ˜‰). Attached is my ongoing temp chart (with about 4 data points omitted over Christmas because I'd had a few G&T's the night before and they seemingly falsely spiked my temp πŸ™„). I got a BFP OPK on CD15, we DTD CD16, temp dropped CD17 followed by leaping up CD18 (which I think means I ov'd CD17 πŸ€”). I guess that it means I actually ovulated 2 days after the BFP OPK, which came as a bit of a surprise (I thought I'd ov sooner than that after the BFP πŸ˜•).

Welcome @Joboanna πŸ‘‹ Cycle 1 should be exciting! 😁 Try not to be daunted! Hopefully you'll be lucky and get a BFP sooner rather than later πŸ€žπŸ»πŸ€

I hope you have a lovely couple of days off @Pinkywoo and that you get your BFP OPK soon (it'd be handy if it could coincide with your time off, after all πŸ˜‰).

I like that quote @PixieN 😊 I hope your decluttering goes well 😎

CD10 does sound pretty early for a peak reading on a CBFM @Rachyrach83 πŸ€” Is it the first time you're using it? I don't have one myself, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it can take some time to get to know your cycles. Stick with it, I guess, and keep DTD to get those bases covered πŸ™‚

Thanks for setting up a new thread @BambiOnIce I just posted on the old one. Ha! Think my email is abit laggy as the notification only just came through.

Happy New Year everyone! Hope to see lots more BFPs on here πŸŽ‰πŸ’•

Carley32 · 02/01/2019 13:48

Sorry ladies didn’t realise we had a new thread until today 😊 thank you for setting another @BambiOnIce80

A little late as Christmas has been a crazy busy one for us this year but...
Happy New Year all I hope 2019 brings lots of happiness health and BFP to our lovely group 😘😁. xxx

Carley32 · 02/01/2019 13:56

@Joboanna hello πŸ‘‹. Good luck with the ttc journey. This is a fab thread and really does keep you a little more sane throughout.

@BambiOnIce80 sounds promising 🀞 for this cycle. Maybe 2019 is your year xx

CD18 here tested on my cheapy OPK but so far negative although according to my apps this should be fw so we will see. I have some symptoms so hopefully it’s right.
Although the amount of alcohol we’ve drunk and the lack of exercise we’ve had I don’t have much hope for this cycle. I’m feeling very guilty towards my body lol.

Hope all are well.

Hi all,

I've been a bit of a lurker on MN for a while, but we've decided we need to make a firm decision about whether to try for a baby or not. I've been using Natural Cycles for nearly 3 years as contraception (so have a fairly good idea of how my body works) and just switched it into trying for a baby mode... Feeling a bit freaked out when it popped up with this message this morning! There's something very weird about having spent all my life so far trying not to get pregnant and then to stop doing that... (at the moment we're giving ourselves a few days to think about how we feel about the decision before we actually do anything).

I'm reassured that there are others out there who are planners too and like to know what they're doing. I'm sporty and the feeling of not knowing if I'm going to be able to enter races (or have goals to train for) in the next few months is a bit unsettling. I'm trying to think about being fit and strong in ways that'll help me compete and/or carry a baby, but it's really hard.

79andnotout · 02/01/2019 14:50

happy new year everyone! I was waylaid by AF, hangover, and a cold on new years day, and I'm still in bed now. The hangover is long gone at least. I'm now committed to having a super healthy january - no booze, caffeine, and i'm having a go at Veganuary too. December was so bad I'm looking forward to it. I've dusted off the juicer and put a big order in at my local greengrocers. @QuantumGirl - i do HIIT, boxing, circuits etc and they are all fine for TTC if you're reasonably fit already, I think. It's just excessively launching into things that's supposed to be bad (but your body adjusts quickly anyway I think). I'm starting back up again on Saturday when hopefully this cold has gone.

Welcome @Joboanna - hopefully you turn out to be one of the lucky ones who introduce themselves and then get a BFP a month later!

How's the soup @MrsRRC? I think I'm going to be living off my ottolenghi cookbooks for Veganuary. I've got a load of random greens in my allotment that I could do with working through. Think I've had a whole month of beige and need to make up for it.

umpteennamechanges · 02/01/2019 15:49

Hi all

I'm just place marking to come and join the thread properly later as I should be working Hmm

My brain is still in Christmas mode though...alarm and needing to 'get dressed' and 'do stuff' was a shock Grin

I'm 36 and we're about TTC from this month. I was pregnant (happy accident) last year but miscarried at 6 weeks (and had a rare bad reaction to the medical miscarriage tablets so it was a bit traumatic but I think I've had an early taste of labour!).

I'll catch up on the thread to date later, looking forward to 'meeting' you all...

BambiOnIce80 · 02/01/2019 16:01

Glad you're starting to get past the lurge @79andnotout πŸ™‚ We're sticking to vegetarian dishes too for the next 2 weeks to start with (it's DP's request to help with this weight loss thing he's trying and I'm being the supportive GF πŸ…πŸ†πŸ₯•πŸŒ½πŸ₯¦). I hoard recipes from food magazines, so I've dusted off the recipe folder and have had a good trawl through... Quite looking forward to it πŸ˜‹

Welcome @Weathergirl1 πŸ‘‹ Lovely to meet a few new names 😊 I absolutely understand what you mean about being a bit unsettled about trying so hard to not get pregnant all your life and then it freaks us out when we stop using contraception! πŸ˜„ The first time I didn't use any with my ex I remember sprinting to the toilet afterwards to try and let gravity take its cause (sorry for the TMI!) because I was freaking out that I still wasn't ready! 😳 8 years and 1 DP on I look back a bit ruefully about how easy I thought it'd be to get pregnant 😏 On the planning front, I used to not book holidays or certain events just in case I was pregnant by then... I don't let it get in my way at all now and just go ahead and book everything! Life's too short and TTC is such an unknown. Good luck to you.x

Clare19821 · 02/01/2019 16:39

Thanks @BambiOnIce80 - I can imagine the uncertainty is really frustrating. I think it's admirable that you have managed to adapt your outlook as that must have been really hard.
I'm coming off social media for a while as with christmas and the new year it seems that 99% of posts are about new babies / happy families etc. Of course I'm very happy for my friends but it seems like a constant visual reminder of what I don't have right now, whereas there are lots of other things in my life I'm very grateful for.
Yes, my partner seems to think 1 year from now is much more palatable than 9 months, so perhaps I aim for convincing him over the next few month for a Spring TTC start! I think I'd also like to get some fertility tests redone and maybe also persuade him to have tests as well (although I don't think he's going to be particularly enthused about that). I think it's good to know all the facts though and if there are likely to be any problems.
I also bought this ovusense device thing to learn more about when/if I'm ovulating and my cycle in general. No harm in getting informed!

BambiOnIce80 · 02/01/2019 17:59

New Year, old name @Carley32! πŸ˜‚ I hope you get your BFP OPK soon 🀞🏻

And welcome @umpteennamechanges πŸ‘‹ I love your name πŸ˜„ Sorry to hear about your MC last year, but hopefully you'll have no issues conceiving quickly πŸ€

I've 'taken the red pill' when it comes to Facebook as well @Clare19821. Not been on it for a month now. Not necessarily because of the plethora of pregnancy announcements, but was becoming a bit jaded by all the insta-filtered "everything is perfect" gushing πŸ™„ It seems particularly ridiculous when you find out the next week the same picture perfect couple are getting divorced πŸ˜• Decided it was all nonsense and was just going to bypass it and see how long I can last (it's actually not been difficult at all, which is very telling!).
